OOC character building for secret thread that is soon to come
Blackhelm Confederacy
30-12-2006, 07:01
Ok, I'm gunna make a thread that is gunna do big things in the Confederacy, and it kinda revolves around you! So get ready all of you people out there with any interest in either the Blackhelm Confederacy or the Griffincrest Corporation, cause now you can change things without failed invasions! Ok, now since the Confederacy has been in isolation for the last three and a half years since the whole new Confederacy thing started, there won't be many foreigners in the country. If you have a reason to be here, and it has to be a legitimate reason, you can play one of the people you have here. If not, you can be anything from a Muslim in a concentration camp to a Griffincrest executive to a Confederate senator, and anyone in between. If your character is going to be armed, they can carry no more than two weapons at a time, a rifle or other larger weapon, and a sidearm. The rundown should look like this:
Name: Claudius Griffincrest
Place in Society: Griffincrest Oil Incorporated CEO
Armament: N/A
Physical Description: 72 year old male, average height, slicked back, thinning silver hair, pointy nose, gray eyes.
Brief Bio: Son of oil tycoon Julius Griffincrest, took command of Griffincrest Oil Inc, made company into an uber corporation during the plague, enjoys good food and gladiator fights, will do anything it takes to make more money.

I've 5 delegates you failed to even look for in the Fires of Change thread...
(The first one dissapeared long before in another thread, giving you plenty of time to worry)
For simplicity's sake, I'll assume 2 or 3 of them died during that little civil war...
Although I will accept the fact that the PROHT embassy has been abandoned.
And no, they didn't leave the embassy with any combat gear, though I wonder what I could expect them to have picked up during the fighting.
Dead communists can be rather, er, careless, with their weapons...
Chances are they ran across some friendly militants...
=====
Otherwise I'd like to apply to RP the communsist freedom fighters...
Name: "Smith" AKA: "Anybody he says he is"
Place in Society: PROHT backed insurgent
Armament: (Still trying to figure it out, most likely a WSP provided AK)
Physical Description: A 'Grey man' nondescript, tall, squat fellow, a chubby twig, darkish blonde hair... Young old guy.
Brief Bio: a "fire and forget multi-million dollar weapon", was dropped off as a 'delegate' and then managed to slip through the cracks and into 'regular' society, just in time fot a civil war, many of his companions have fallen during this operation, and his trust is begining to falter as the lines begin to fray. His grip on reality isn't much better...
I didn't say finding this guy would be easy. Though I guess it'd be easier to find than Mr. Bourne...
And no, this isn't the guy who killed the taxi driver, unless you want him to be...

They would have been all sent home safely, as when the Third Imperium came to power, things got eerily safe in Paradise City.

Name: Withheld for Security Reasons, goes by Johnnie
Place in Society: Mafia Liason to the Griffencrest Corporation
Armament: 1 Glorious Republican manufactured KF15C 'Fulcrum' Carbine Configuration, 1 Glorious Republican Manufactured Officer's Lighter
Physical Description: 1.98m Tall, mid 40s, dark green eyes, black hair, wears a fedora and trench coat, fedora has an unusual tendency to burst into flames, replaced often.
Brief Bio: Little about 'Johnnie' is known, though some suggest his last name may be 'Blood' though this may be a mistranslation. Judging by his intimate knowledge of the Elite Republican Guard, he is most likely a former Elite Guardsman, but due to his dated terms, he may have served before the second Civil War. The design of the lighter indicates he was high up in the chain of command.
Extremely paranoid, and suspicious, he is most distrustful of the hat he constantly wears. It has an unusual tendency to burst into flames. Talks to self, or imagined voices and chain smokes. Developed some semblence of friendship toward Claudius Griffencrest and his son Tiberius. Works very quickly and is quick to pull out his lighter then his rifle.
Eccentric to say the least.

They would have been all sent home safely, as when the Third Imperium came to power, things got eerily safe in Paradise City.
I was reffering to this crazy guy (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=11722868#post11722868) who was on the loose since the "Again they strike" RP.
Since I don't recall ANY attempts to find him or the other 4 missing employees working at my embassy.
But you raise a good point with your police state policies... It would be somewhat difficult to take Griff's head...
I'll also note I gave a decent recap of those same events on the first -or second- page of the 'Fires of Change' thread.

Mostly I'm doing this to wrap up the last of my 'loose ends' in BC.
Which I'm sure BC wants me to do as well.
I really don't care if I succeed or not.

Armament: 1 personally purchased Walther PPK, a Swiss Army Knife

Brief Bio: Elected in a landslide during the last election, this will be the 3rd time he has come to office. His populace is disillusioned and he only receives votes from older people whom he caters to as 'one of them'.
He is slightly paranoid that one day the government will find out what he is doing and come for him. That is the reason he purchased the PPK.

Name: Nevrosich Verissotvock Naterielus
Place in Society: RTM officer in charge of operations in Blackhelm Confederacy
Armament: 'Gyurza' 9mm pistol, he was also once a tank commander in a T-72BM Main Battle Tank, he still has one stored in a warehouse somewhere.

He has some contacts with 'Johnnie' given the friendship between the Leafanistani Mafia and the Red Tide Mafia.

OOC: assuming the old upper class barricades would serve equally well making a ghetto for rounding up undesireable workers before shipping them out. Naturally, being a gravedigger gives my character papers to avoid being shipped overseas.
Also forgot the name of the city I gassed...
I also believe I overarmed my assasin, I'm considering the replacement of the greanades with Vodka bottles filled with 180 to 200 proof moonshine... Some Clove ciggarettes, two matchbooks, 4 rags, and a lighter... Oh, and a corkscrew, & 2 shot glasses...
I guess I'd also want a pair of black leather gloves, can't leave DNA or fingerprints now can we?

Paradise City isn't really that different, save for less Muslims. If you wanna talk about the upper class area from way back in the day you could be on the slums out skirts, but in the city now not much ruin has taken place. Communist rebels have been kept in the country side, riots have been brutally suppressed, and to the common Paradesian everything is good. More jobs, more room, more goods, cheaper labor.
Redemption was gassed, but recovered. The Confederacy has pretty good response methods to gas attacks after what happened in Divinity in the Exponential Civil War. If you want undesirable folk, the slums is where to be, 8 million people crammed into a twelve mile area, little to no police patrols, occasional military sweep. Divinity is a good choice as well.

I naturally assumed the walled area around the upper class 'embassy row' was converted into a ghetto and all muslims had been herded inside. I guess that was only partly correct.
Either way, I'm in the slums, wherever that may be, and acquired a worker's permit and saved up a rather large amount of cash burying everyones' dead.
I'm not instigating any riots, I'm just getting by for now, as I haven't spotted my prey yet.

Um, what language was this...
"Muslim! Subsisto!"
"Adepto lemma! Iuguolo lemma! Improbus!"
"Velox vos duos! Secundum lemma!"
"Vos! Adveho in constituo."
Looks invented... Wouldn't a clandestine operative know his langauge, or is this some Griffencrest code to prevent people from dropping his name as a false refferance?
Best OOC aproxomation:
Subsisto (I subsist-most languages)
Lemma -(headward-Italian)
Vos (Ordnance-German, Fox-Dutch, You-Portugese)
Guessing OOCly:
Muslim! Subsisto!"= Muslims! Halt/die!
"Adepto lemma! Iuguolo lemma! Improbus!"= [Name/rank] ???! [Name/rank] ???!
"Velox vos duos! Secundum lemma!"= Go you two! Second ???!

That is Latin my good friend. Minor changes in verb placement to make it alittle more Exponential. It is the primary language here. You are probably going to be hearing alot of it. Now for translation.
"Muslim! Subsisto!"= Muslim! Halt!
"Adepto lemma! Iuguolo lemma! Improbus!"= Get them! Kill them! Inferiors! (referring to the Muslims as inferiors)
"Velox vos duos! Secundum lemma!"= Quick you two! After them!
"Vos! Adveho in constituo."= You! Come into the station.
I must say that that was some damned good translating on your part though, I'm very impressed. I never knew that Vos was ordnance in German nor Fox in Dutch either. Ya learn something new everyday.

Found an online translator, it does pretty good going from english to Latin, but messes up at the opposite...
E->L (using your translation as a base)
Muslim! subsisto Adepto lemma! Iuguolo lemma! improbus Velox vos duos! Secundum lemma! vos Adveho in constituo.
L->E (Using above text)
Muslim! to stand (offers aternative 'Halt')
To obtain theme! To cut the throat theme! outrageous (Offers: 'Get', 'Kill' and 'self willed'/'infirior')
Fleet you two! Accordingly theme! (Offers: 'Quickly', but accordingly remains)
you To carry upon to set up. (Offers correct translation as alternitive)
Lemma becomes 'theme' when it should be 'them'.
It's not perfect, but it'll take 90% of the guesswork out of translating latin...

From behind the group, Claudius Griffincrest came from behind another curtain.
...
"And finally, CEO Claudius Griffincrest, Chief Executive Officer of the Griffincrest Oil Corporation."
Claudius then approached Johnnie and reached out his hand.

I guess it's time for me to wrap up that pesky snag in BC's well made plan.

Plus his paranoia...

Plot was pretty much the same.

Ends with a dirty cop with an empty Uzi superglued to his hands and kicked out the front door... Right in front of the police...

That or just use that silenced pistol in leu with the shovel...
------
True, I could easily pop the trunk with the knife/shovel/pistol, or hack my wha through the back seat.
But that would leave my character in a precarious position, plus, he's got no clue what is waiting for him outside of that trunk.
But he knows by now he's going to be executed, eventually...
And they'll need a grave dug for the body, and by chance/irony, he's a particularilly good gravedigger by reputation...
It would make sense that they order him to dig his own grave...
------
After that, I'll think of the rest...
And yes, he is quite good at CQB /w/ that shovel.
But any sensable gutless spy knows better than to parade such lethal skills in the middle of a parking lot.

Regarding the massive welding set your centaurion is using:
for comparative purposes, the standard industrial oxygen tank is pressurized to 2200-3,000 PSI, and acetylene reaches tempratures of 3500 degrees Celsius. An FAE has a peak overpressure of 430 PSI, and has a peak temprature of 3000 degrees. Then keep in mind that the chain holding it down only limits movement so much and the tank only wieghs 300 pounds. Meaning a 1" square hole would give a thrust to whieght ratio of 10:1, that baby tends to fly like an overinflated balloon... Then remind yourself that the thing wieghs 300 pounds as it hits you upside the head, and you generally wiegh 150 pounds... It might as well be an 18" APBC shell... Pressurized fuels tend to BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) when punctured, an oxygen rich atmosphere would only exasperate this... Then remind yourself that the industrial acetylene tank wieghs 250 pounds... A ready made 250 kg FAE with two 18" shells for shrapnel...
Hence why Paul is reluctant to empty his clip into the centaurion...

Blowlamps/blowtorches don't weld.
They solder and are used to keep pipes from freezing in the winter...
Plus, having the gas tank fixed directly to the torch may not be a good thing in CQB..
There are also 'hobbiest size' oxy-MAPP torches, and the tanks are about the size of camp stove propane tanks (the size and approxamate shape of a thermos). These are suitable for light welding applications.
Luckily, the tanks are separated from the torch by a hose in that case.
Still, a bullet through those tanks would likely kill them both. And fiddling with the gas valve isn't the smartest thing to do when you should be watching your foe...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowlamp
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propane_torch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAPP_gas
Note: MAPP gas containers can be sold in tanks heavier than 3 Kg, as I walk past what I'd estimate to be a 15-30 Kg tank [3' x 18"] of MAPP gas almost daily.
Also note the differance in descriptions of what MAPP gas smells like in the MAPP gas link and the MAPP gas description in the gas welding link.
---
Sorry about jumping to the conclusion that it was an industrial grade welding torch down there. And the massive tirade of how it isn't the tool of choice for CQB.
Though I did learn that they managed to make Oxy-Gasoline cutting torches work...
2.5 gallons of petrol = 250 pounds of Acetylene in performance...

Yea, I guess I was thinking of a blowtorch than, I was thinking the little ones. How do you know so much about torches?
I weld, braze and solder. Recently I've started welding.
I also have a rather large collection of gas torches in my basement.
Used a handbuilt torch head for soldering a high school project.
It involved a copper affixed to the end of the gas nozzle, thus, it was constantly heated, the downside is that the exhaust went out 3 vents at right angles, and could easily burn a hole through my hand... When in use, it looked similar to the muzzle flash of an M-16 with MILES gear affixed...
At the tech I had to cut 3/4" mild steel plate with an Oxy-fuel cutting torch, then a plasma arc cutter, then Air Carbon Arc (which I became frighteningly proefficient at), along with welding MiG, TiG, stick, and FCAW. SAW doesn't seem available.
And recently, I hammer forged and hardened a chisel; using an oxy-fuel torch.
Plus there was all the fun I had in high school with blowtorches and bunsen burners... Don't burn a full box of mothballs in class, they'll either mistaken it for a gas leak or a terrorist attack...
I've also taken Physics, Biology, chemistry, and metallurgy classes, along with AP comparative polotics, Military history, and sociology, just in the event that stuff like ths happens.
3 (maybe 4) years of drafting, arcietecture, small engine repair (school lacked an automotive wing), engineering, debate, and metalwork also come in handy from time to time.
======
Anyways, enough about myself.
I'll have to adjust myself to the fact that the fuel tanks are much smaller now.
IC actoions would remain unchanged regardless.
======
One wonders why Johnie would care so much for a person who he had been perfectly willing to empty a full clip from his carbine into on the ride up to the mansion...
