OOC: Sure, but is better explained in IC. Basically my nation reseached the human mind and nearons and decided to make a computerized brain with microchips behaving as nearons, whic dictate the droid's behavior and programming as nearons dicatate our behavior and programming.
IC: We studied the human brain and then thought about how some neurons specify desires and other neurons use reason to specify how to fulfill that need/desire, humans have drives like hunger, thirst and the need to reproduce so the desire drives them to do so, these droids have a similar mechanism, they have drives that make them enjoy formation marches, following orders and staying functional as much as we enjoy eating and drinking, but instead of nearons for the droids we use microchips, one takes in the senses from sensors and fires once certain senses sense certain things, the microchip is programmed to fire to the right microchip which processes information and sends it to the right chips which then release signals to control the motors and functions and such, most of the drives are equal in strength meaning it can choose and excersice free will giving it the experience and judgement that a human soldier would have, just as a human's drives are mostly equal in strength he can express free will.
