Clandonain News Network Election Coverage

'As we bring you 24 hour live coverage of the latest election happenings the special programe tonight shows the differences of the four candidates who are standing for the Presidency of the Clandonian Parliament. Now we go live to Bill in our computer graphics studio who will be demonstrating visually the current projections of the poll which closes on the 30th.'

The four candidates:


John Martin, The Clandonian Workers Party-Left Wing Socialist

Born the son of a uranium mine imigrant worker he lived in Kirkland for much of his life before joining the Clandonian Communist party. Surviving the purges made under the leadership of General Lancer he took on the leadership and won after a vote from the underground political movement. He is for the admitance of Clandonia into the United Communist Nations and opposes the laisez faire economic system. His party supports the nationalisation of the Clandonian Corporation and the increase of tax to pay for new social security and welfare packages that have not been used for several decades. Apposes ACTO and the Sovereign League on the grounds of 'imperalistic, war mongering capitalist pigs.'

Forecast poles estimate a 9% support for this candidate.


David Brokonavich, Clandonian Liberal Party

Former owner of the largest telecomunications company, Clancom he used his financial power to reform the Liberal Party setting out the ideas of clasical liberalism for the modern nation. He controversially supported the privatisation of the military and his former corporate connections extend to the Clandonian Corporation which has attracted criticism. Supports membership of the ACTO and the further advancement of privatisation and laisez faire policies. Some in the party have suggested a join government in the event of a hung pole with the Clandonian Conservative Party.

Forecast poles estimate a 14% support for this candidate.


Jessica Lasorin, Clandonian Citizen Party

A growing popular movement that suppots the isolationist ideals that Clandonia take a step back from the world stage and return to issues internally such as resolving the growing rich and poor gap. She has supported the free education system and has shown some socialist tendecies. Controversially promoted family values and was then caught with an affair with a 17 year old boy, who was the son of her husbands sister. Rejects all forms of external alliances and opposes the unregulated free market system.

Forecast poles estimate a 3% support for this candidate.


Sir Victor Hughes, Clandonian Conservative Party

Former head of the famous and highly famed 16th Air Assault Brigade, he lead the attacks against Naasha and was accused of war crimes by outside groups. The most popular candidate in the election so far with his pro-free market policies but with more political and social freedoms promised. Supports ACTO, GDI and has called for an application to the Sovereign League which he has promised will be carried out within days of his government taking office. Is fully against socialist and left wing alliances such as the UCN and called for the advancement of Clandonian Anti-Communist Doctrines to include military force. Supports the armed forces with increased budgets and extension of the draft.

Forecast poles estimate a 52% support for this candidate.

Random Election Booth, Velkyan ZOE of Clanon City

I gotta get a real fucking job.

This harsh thought crossed the mind of many a Velkyan soldier as they sat guarding the polls of the Clandonian election. There were four of them, three with their digital BDUs and AR-56Cs in full view, and the last directing traffic and wearing the uniform of a military policeman. There were others there, as well. Actually maintaining security and running the show was a squad of Clandonian policemen, whose civilian uniforms stood out from the dark green clothing of the Velkyans. Some young, fresh from their academy, other old veterans of the force, a bit resentful of the allied occupation of their country. Regardless, the two groups got along well, herding the masses of humanity in an orderly line to the poll center, located in a comandeered public library.

Suddenly, a figure burst through the crowd, holding an old issue G36E in one hand and a raised fist in the other. He began to fire in the air indiscriminantly, causing the crowd to scream and dive for cover.

"DEATH TO THE CAPITALIST SCUM! WORKERS UNITE, WORKERS UNI-"

His chant was cut short by the crack of a 6.8mm round ripping through his skull, blood and brain matter spewing out of the exit wound. He fell to the floor in a heap of blood, his last sight on this earth being the muzzle flash of a Velkyan soldier's rifle. Several women were crying at the display of violence, as two policemen placed a tarp over the body and called an ambulence. The soldier who had made the kill sighed and looked up at the sky.

I gotta get a real job...

With the support for the Conservative movement growing many knew the election would be in their hands because of the shear amount of foreign occupation military forces who were of similar political grounds to Sir Victor. With reports of insurgent activites from some of the more radical elements of the Clandonian Workers party who had been conected to previous radical elements before.

Current poles showed that the Conservatives had control of the Parliament now and they were expected to take the Presidency, with only two days of voting left it would be very interesting.

Managing the complexity of the democratic process can be a difficult task and success hinges on a country's dedication to democracy and its dedication to hard work and coordination. If you shall permit, the Pacitalian Institute for Democracy, a respected and renowned prelature of the Pacitalian republic, will send observers to watch the election process and help Clandonian electoral officials guarantee a free, fair vote.

A final report will be commissioned and then delivered to officials both in Timiocato and in Clanon City.

I applaud your recent adoption of democracy fellow ally! As a token of good Groznian Air Force C-130's will be dropping 219 Afghan goats onto your capital. You may do with them as you please. Their milk can be used for various dairy products and is very high in calcium and vitamins (more healthy than cow's milk mind you) and their meat is also very good. Unfortunately they are somewhat rebellious and I do hope that air dropping them (by parachute) randomly over your capital will not be a problem for you. And do not worry they have all been checked for any illness or malformations.

We take great delight to anounce the peaceful passing of the elections with few incidents of violence. Clandonia has now passed into a new age, the glorious age of a Conservative-Liberal Coalition government combined with a strong nationalist pride, free market and the military might we will show the world that we mean good this time.

After the achievment of democracy taking foothold in British Londinium I will be paying close attention to the worlds current affairs. With the entry into the Sovereign League I have taken the task of ensuring that the nation adopt a high level of civil and political freedoms. As I speak to you tonight from the bridge of one our capital submarines the CNS Black Sunday off the coast of British Londinium, I urge my fellow Clandonians to celebrate at the two glorious events, the military victory and the arrival of a true democracy.
