Introduction Meri Velasca
Background: Mari Velasca has had a short, violent History. Shortly after the turn of the century, after the Industrial age passed, Socialist entities had planted the seed of descention. Socialist agendas spread through the middle and lower classes like wildfire, leading up to several clashes between civilians and military protecting production facilities. From 1915 to 1924 a Civil war had broke out, led by the new paramilitary group, the Socialist Liberation Front. In 1925, the SLF led Civil War was over, with the Socialists in power. From then untill 1965 things were rather dour, the economy took a turn for the worst, the Socialistic government was incredibly Xenophobic, cutting off almost all international ties, especially with its neighbors. In 1987, Ordorus Urungus, along with Flattus Maximus, had began circulating Pro-Capitalist fliers throughout the growing anti-socialist underground. The group was originally an upstart Shock Rock band, noteable for its anti-government, politically incorrect lyrics. Soon after, they became hugely popular, particularly amongst the new generation, youth tired of rations, tired of conformity. A coup was staged in 1993, violent and quick, the heads of government was caught totally off gaurd. Oderus Urungus and Flattus Maximus had raised a small army of youth and those of like minds, funded largely by Companies that had vested interest in a free-trade, pro-capitalist society. By june of 1994, Oderus Urungus had named himself President for Life, with Flattus Maximus at his side. Pro-Capitalist ideals were instilled in the new constitution, Socialism wasn't abolished, but had lost its favor. Even now, in 2006, they find it hard to be voted onto Cabinet seats.
