Me or my friend are planning to start a RP 'Earth' world or whatever. I'd like to ask what's usually required.
I also have a few question:
- Should I usually start out with an Empire or start out with one country and expand (ex: start with Europe or start with Italy)
- I'm planning to have MT and EVENTUALLY FT, but where does the boundary between them start and end??
-What number is available (ex. Earth II, Earth V)
Things I already have
-Adobe Photoshop
-Blank political map
-Semi-Knowledge about geography of Europe
-Semi-Knowledge about geography of the far Est
-Semi-Knowledge about geography of North Africa

I am not sure what you mean by Earth type RPG...
It would seem that he (Or She) intends to do an rp that covers quite a few nations across the gobe. :)

Aha, seen that before...there's been at a few of those. (5, going by that thread.)
Seems to be quite complex.

Well, no offense, but can I get some advice from someone above 10 posts? lol
(Not trying to offend, but I want an expert or atleast someone who knows something)
despite my low post count, i'd recomend pm'ing the creator of the last 'Earth' style rp for ideas, information ect. :)
I've been on NationStates for a while, but i never bothered with the forum much. (http://www.nationstates.net/gatral)

Depends on what you're trying to do. Most of the time an Earth that doesn't have anything new to offer fails pretty quickly. Like a MT-like Earth sort of thing, you know? Or an Earth Grab. I would suggest trying to think of something new.
Also, I'd liek you to consider my site for hosting it, as well. We could use the advertisement without persecution if you have it partially here and use the site as an archive of something like that. It's called Of Many Minds. (http://s11.invisionfree.com/Of_Many_Minds/)

I know of an Earth 7, so assuming there are no Earths after that you could call yours Earth 8.
As for land claims, you could have a system where the higher your population, the more land you can claim. An example of this would be: with a population of less than 1 billion you get two medium-sized countries and a population more than 1 billion you get three or four countries. There are also many Earths where population is determined by the RL countries that you claim.
MT is usually defined as any technology possible within the next 10 or 20 years. PMT (Post Modern Tech) usually goes from the end of Modern Tech to like 2100. Future Tech really begins once extrasolar space travel becomes feasible, though these definitions are fluid depending on the RP.

Is BF 2142 and Halo PMT or FT?
Firmly FT for Halo, while BF2142 seems to be more PMT, barring the silly giant mecha. Of course, I could be wrong, as I haven't played 2142.

and if you make this, please put it on jolt. i hate doing those off-site RP's as they are too hard to follow (or im just lazy, one of the two)

Now, should I start with an extremely large drawn out rules and explanation thread or a simple fun claims thread.

It is up to you, though I would suggest explaining the rules on the claims thread.
