In September 21st, 2011, Kim-Jong Ill, ruler of the Peoples Republic of Korea announced that they had nuclear weapons. This was no difference than any other of his announcements, but the one different thing, was that these devices were taken to the DMZ and loaded into defensive/offensive artillery. The United States military, now out of Iraq after President Jon Edwards came to power, was ready to deploy a strong force to Korea. Much of the Pacific navy began to steam toward the peninsula as well. Suddenly, after repeated demands and condemnations, NATO organized an Asia mission and officially organized a force to head for Korea. They would join other nations on the Korean DMZ. On January 16th, the United States and allies launched bombing missions and artillery barrages from their artillery on Korea and aircraft from around the region. The plan was to wipe out the terrible artillery that was situated along the border, but mostly to take out the nuclear weapons. But, the North had been prepared. They had dug low bunkers for many more artillery pieces. 3 days after the south began a barrage, the North began to fire back. 1 month later, It was mostly an air war and artillery combat. The South Korean military, US Marine Corp, and several European battalions landed troops behind the DMZ, while another 7 American, 4 Korean, and 4 NATO battalions crossed the DMZ into Korea. The North Korean military fell back several miles and then joined a huge defensive perimeter, the second wall of Korea it was called. The soldiers that fought their called it “Kim’s front door”. The US and allies suddenly began involved in a heated war along these lines with high losses, but a determined will to win.
USS Ronald Reagan-In charge of the US battle group (outside of NATO control) the Ronald Reagan is one of the most involved ships, with many fighters being involved in sorties every few days. The air power that the allies had brought into the war was overwhelming, but the Korean Air Force kept finding ways to hide their aircraft, probably with the aid of China. This is the story of those sailors, marines and pilots.
