Allanea

OOC: I’ve spoken to Vegana, he’s told me there’s been a long-term lull in the fighting in this sector, I figure the new war is a good time to re-open this front
IC:
On the Syskeyian Front
A while has passed since the fighting, and both sides had reinforced their defenses, both the Allaneans and the Reich troops. Now that God’s Own had attacked Allanea yet http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=510351&page=2 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=510351&page=2). For the Allanean Divisions at the Syskeyian Front, no orders came - but they did do some thinking of their own.
The Allanean forces in the area were to weak at the time to carry out any attacks on the Reichite forces - twenty-five Mechanized Infantry Divisions, ten armored divisions, multiple aircraft formations – not good enough to actually invade the Reich section of Syskeyia. They could hold the line if the Reichites tried anything particularly stupid, but they could not in fact advance against the Reich.
And yet – the other parts of Allanea were already under attack. They had to do something, didn’t they?
And so, Brigadier-General Semyon Markus came up with what he, personally, considered a truly brilliant plan.
At the stroke of midnight, all over the front, 155mm rapid-fire howitzers, 82mm automatic mortars, MLRS systems, and every other such device Allaneans had – up to and including the immense Kriegzimmer 400mm cannon spread out behind the border – opened fire.
They did not advance.
They did not invade.
So far, they were only bombarding the positions of the Reich troops, with a rain of high-explosive, incendiary, and cluster munitions. The purpose – apart from the immediate ‘kill people’ – was so far unknown.
