Let Freedom Ring

The PeoplesFreedom

Private Thomas Moore stood idly watching the citizens go about their lives. Some smiled openly, some talked on cellphones, some greeted the soldiers, most gave the soldiers the cold shoulder. To them, the soldiers were occupiers. Not there for protection, but to prevent them from having the freedom granted to them under The Charter. Thousands of citizens were arrested daily do to anti-government activities. And why shouldn't they? The Military Junta set up by General Braddock was not their government. They had dealt with it, now they weren't going to. Underground websites had polls that showed that nearly 80 percent of the population despised the new government. In the last two years, hundreds of sleeper cells were set up, ready to strike against the government. They built up weapons and trained. Of course, their were also other political groups that wanted their ideology to be in control. Communists, Greeners, Anarchists, and various other factions. Now the time had come to strike.

Moore was stationed to protect the 14th Police District. This is where his battalion operated from, as well as the local security forces. It was also one of the thousands of targets assigned to the Freedom Fighters. The Police Station was valued for it's military-grade weapons, which the Freedom Fighters would need to gain if they had even a chance of surviving.

A man, in a trenchcoat, was walking up to Moore, at a rather alarming pace.
His partner raised his M-25 SAW.

" Halt, Citizen." Moore said.

" It is time for you to die. The God's dislike your very essence. You have trampled upon the Freedom Alter. The Alter of Freedom must be cleansed by the blood of Patriots. The time has come to once again cleanse the Alter from my blood, and that of my comrades."

" What the Fu-"

A massive Explosion ripped through the checkpoint. The Second Civil War had begun.

Capitalists cared for money, Halladis cared for each other and the Revolution. This was the keen difference that led to the success of so many Workers' Protection Agency operations. And now was time for a new chapter. With the support for the insurgency in the Blackhelm Confederacy, the Halladis were just getting started. Through the hollow exterior of "non-intervention," Hallad went where it pleased, and did what it pleased. With such an unpopular military junta in The PeoplesFreedom, they would be no exception.

Through the ussual means -- third party, neutral shipping -- Hallad agents had entered the nation to set up contact with the myriad of Communist, Socialist, Anarchist, and other left-wing organizations which asserted they had control over the nation. In truth, the entire 'resistance' as it were, was completely un-unified and fragile. That is where a group of Halladis came in. To set the tone for a unified front of leftists, a statement had to be made and since the bickering continued amongst The PeoplesFreedom, it was Hallad's job to make it.

A small band of ten men, WPA field operatives, staked out their claim in the slums of the capitol city. In a run-down old building they became chief suppliers of most communist organizations -- selling Halladi-made rifles, handguns, machine guns, and RPG's. But they now had orders to make a direct attack.

For a week they scouted out the financial sector. They prepared themselves, using all home-made devices. Luckily, the makings for a bomb was essentially available at a hardware store and a pharmacist. Then a target was selected: the Central Bank. It was a busy area, filled with businessmen and other bourgeois professionals. In the mid-morning the place a mess. Traffick bogged down the road, so it was no problem blending in.

They had built a car bomb, and filled the seats, the trunk, and basically anywhere they could with fertilizer -- something which would enhance the explosion. A Hallad by the name of Muhammad al-Qusar drove the vehicle that morning and just as he got to the front of the central bank he 'ran out of gas.'

"Fuck!" He exclaimed, but it was hardly heard with all the commotion of the morning commute.

The Halladi got out of the car, after switching on the 'emergency lights.' Essentially they told commuters to go around the car. Ironic, though, that with all the congestion in the street, cars were bumper-to-bumper a barely moving. He shrugged, after slaming his door, looking at a driver next to his car. He walekd away, taking out a cellphone. He pretended to talk on it, until he was a block or so away.

Then he really used it. Cell phones were easily used to explode remote-controled explosive devices, and this one did just that. There was an ear-deafening boom, followed by screams.

The explosion ripped through the commuters who were going about there daily lives. Sirens could be heard in the background as ambulances and police rushed to the scene. Dozens of Military troopers arrived and quickly set up a roadblock. The .50 and 15.5mm machine guns on their Humvee looked deadly indeed. At the same time police tried to find the cell-phone, but knew it would be pre-paid. 120 people died. Luckily, it didn't hit the checkpoints that were designed to defend the Market District or any other important district.

Greetings Comrades, we have been observing your methods of spreading the great socialist revolution, and we must admit that they match our own. Following the recent events in ThePeoplesFreedom, and sensing that a Civil War is just around the corner, a question has hit us, support the rising left wing movements? Our contacts in the Capital have told us about your efforts to unify the left, and, as comrades, we'd like to help you. We already have a shipment of weapons and supplies (obviously unmarked and with no serial numbers as to avoid tracing back), and we only need your help to smuggle these goods inside, once this is done, we can keep making deliveries, which we hope you'll use to help this nation's transition to Socialism.

That night, the Halladis watched the news reports on a junky television they'd acquired on the side of the road. Impressed with the event, though saddened by the 'necessity' for the loss of life, they began to write up their message that they would send to the newspapers for the next day.

An intellectual within the group, Omar, wrote the following note, while watching the news.

"People of the nation,

120 deaths is such a small statistic in the nations history. These class enemies and petty-bourgeois businessmen were nothing more than the acountants of the government. An illegal government that robs you blind. One that has alienated and oppressed the working class of this great nation.

We are the United Leftist Coaltion of The PeoplesFreedom. We are responsible for the bombing that occured yesterday and we would do it again, so long as it shows this government that we are serious. As long as it shows them we will eliminate as many of their bourgeous stooges as is necessary.

We call for all those who believe in freedom, democracy, equality, and justice to rally behind the cause of ULC. We are the future of the nation. Workers of the world, unite!"

He, being a smart man, made sure not to leave any fingerprints -- though he was not registered as a criminal or citizen in the nation. He took a stroll outside walking a few blocks, and put several copies of the letter into a postbox, with no return address. They were being sent to every major news agency in the nation.

Unfortunately for the ULC, The Peoples Freedom had enough experience with terrorism to not like it one bit. While leftists cheered and clapped, the rest of the nation denounced the acts of terrorism. Even their own Freedom Fighters would not use terrorist methods to oust the government. They did not want their own people killed. Within hours every newspaper, website, and news channel denounced the attacks.

It was a slow day at tha docks that day. The merchant vessel Sea Orchid pulled into dock slowly, as tugs pulled it along. Omar and three other men were working as scabs that day, down at the dock, for a rather menial wage.

"This is it." Said Omar, taking the intiative as the leader. He looked out, rather weary of the arrival of foreigners to 'quell' the so-called 'revolution.' Omar could not allow this to happen, after all, the revolution had barely gotten off its feet.

Crates were unloaded, and everything was normal. The arms shipments were hidden under food-stuffs, which were headed for local supermarkets. However, these food shipments were going to be commendeered by a group of guerillas -- 7 Halladis, three local leftists.

Several hours later, the large cargo trucks were on their way to supermarkets. Masked men attacked, seemingly out of nowhere, as these vans pulled up to the loading docks behind the markets. Before anyone could do anything, the trucks were being driven away. First stop was a warehouse, abandoned of course, which was acting as a safehouse. Then the trucks were dumped in the industrial sector.

The Halladis sent a message to the local World Soviet Party agents, asking them for literature, this time, rather than guns. Thousands of pamphlets, hundreds of books. Both dogmatic writings like the Manifesto and Das Kapital, to various guerrilla warfare instruction manuals.

Armoured trucks prowled the streets of every city suspected to be harbouring rebels. Loudspeakers were mounted on them, and they continuously broadcast the following message:

A military convoy in the densly packed slums meant one thing -- death. One of the greatest guerrilla manuevers done was in his position. Some forty lefists, led by a handful of Halladi agitators, took to the roofs and second floor windows. They had been given basic walkie-talkie instruments to relay orders, and now they began their first major offensive.

To assure a kill, two to four RPG shooters would be assigned to each vehicle. In this area, vehicles were generally confined to a single path, RPG teams tried to trap the convoy, by destroying the first and last vehicles in line -- trying preventing movement of the other vehicles. This tactic was especially effective in cities, and the Halladis knew it.

The first shot would be against the main periscope and outward cameras. Following shots would be in pairs, one to set off the reactive armor, the second to penetrate the tank's armor. Favored weak spots were the top and rear of the turret.

When infantry began to come out of cover, all hell broke lose as the rest of the men, armed with HAR-1A assualt rifles began opening fire from concealed positions. Other troops with RPG's loaded anti-personell rocket-propelled grenades, perfect for urban combat -- with a kill radius of 33 feet.

The convoy moves out in twenty, if we aint with em', theres gonna be hell to pay!", Colonel Sapps shouted out as several large ID-57 MBT's rolled off of a massive transport ship onto the crisp beach sands. Boots hit the shore and rushed ahead, setting up a perimeter several kilometers wide as trucks, tanks and APC's rolled ashore. Over head Halcon Stealth Fighters flew through the night skies, simply on standard patrols, waiting for coordinates from below. Thousands of men loaded into humvees were the first to make their presence know. Coastal cities and towns were scowered with humvees mounting .50 Calibre Machine Guns. Sand Bag Barricades and Check Points were set up all around, at which all civilians were being stopped and randomly searched. Soldiers were stationed on street corners, on rooftops... their mere presence in their black gas masks and urban camo meant to deter would-be 'Revolutionaires'. This was just the begining, as only the first 9,000 men had arrived on 'Quick Action', along with a mere 200 Humvees, 200 ID-57's and 500 Stryker APC's.

We support your glorious uprising, comrades! As you may well know, The Burnsian Desert is always looking to help the oppressed. Since TPF is such a vast, powerful country, we know that if your revolution is successful, it will be advantageous for workers everywhere. For this reason, we are deploying one-and-a-half million men from the AWRP to fight with you.

As we speak, the Burnsian 8th fleet of the Burnsian Sea Department are being deployed to waters off of TPF. These include three "Regal"-class Submersible Aircraft Carriers, from whose decks we can launch thousands of paratroopers an hour.

Also on their way are the Burnsian Fifth and Sixth Helljumper Classes. These comprise about fourteen trained men and women who will augment any existing guerrilla forces that you have. Know that these soldiers are deadly efficient; they will preform any task that you give them with utmost haste and lethality. Expect them to land in about six hours, in the field of one "Apple Farm" four clicks east of TPF City limits. Please have pickup ready.

Finally, our main force will be that of the Seventh Burnsian Land Department Army. They will land on the beaches and cut off supplies to the capitalist pigs that are attempting to upset the revolution. Very soon after, they will march to TPF city and raise the Glorious Red Flag of Revolution.

A DHC-6 was traveling over the nation, it was in the colors of a skydiving company in the area. 5 men jumped from the aircraft. They free fall in the air until they pull there chutes. They landed in a forest near a town. The 5 men gathered, each one of them didn't have a firearm, all they had were survival knifes which was good enough, their plan was to use non-violent methods to overthrow the military government.

The troops where dropped off at the border, and march at a steady pace towards the capitol, of course not planning on entering it. They were attacked by a few random rebel assualts and had to kill some one thousand citizens that where just too close. There army had only marched about twenty kilometers into the city and the decimation they had brought was in the millions, but it didn't matter. There job was to quell the rebellion, and they'll do it.

We support your glorious uprising, comrades! As you may well know, The Burnsian Desert is always looking to help the oppressed. Since TPF is such a vast, powerful country, we know that if your revolution is successful, it will be advantageous for workers everywhere. For this reason, we are deploying sixteen million men from the AWRP to fight with you.

As we speak, the Burnsian 8th and 9th Fleets of the Burnsian Sea Department are being deployed to waters off of TPF. These include twelve "Regal"-class Submersible Aircraft Carriers, from whose decks we can launch thousands of paratroopers an hour.

Finally, our main force will be that of the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Burnsian Land Department Armies. They will land on the beaches and cut off supplies to the capitalist pigs that are attempting to upset the revolution. Very soon, they will march to TPF city and raise the Glorious Red Flag of Revolution.

The RPG's slammed onto the lead tanks, but failed to do major damage. They tanks soon opendend fire, with their machine guns. The Infantry around the tanks were killed. However the remainder stayed in the Dobermen's and watched as their 30mm cannons went to work. The Viper began using their 40mm Chain guns to good effect.

[RPG's are not very effective against armored portions of tanks.]

TPF

Coalitionist Forces now took regular patrols throughout cities and the country side, always on watch for Red Activity. Random Searches were quite common, those found carrying arms without a permit promptly taken to Junta Authorities. Arrets were common, as those speaking out against the government were promptly silenced... usually by arrest... but in some circumstances, they were taken out of the city limits, and executed. Propoganda covered the city. Posters, flyers, leaflets... covered buildings, telephone poles, street lights. All defaming and criticizing the ideology of the Soviet Manifest, all the while exalting the current regime. Loud speakers commonly blasted out Anti-Communist Slogans and phrases, the most blatant of which went something along the lines of... 'The Reds Eat Babies and Kill Puppies!'

The IED was placed into the asphalt by burning a tire ring, and lifting out the circle left behind after the road literally melted away. From the road, one could barely tell the difference between it and any other piece of the road. From the air, it merely looked like road crews filled in a pothole. The sniper did not set off the bomb as a robot approached it.

Instead, he radioed to one of the groups, the smaller one. They set off three men, who were carrying several molotov cocktails and rifles, to distract the convoy. They snuck around toward the back end of the line, and from behind a fence hurled the cocktails and ran.

The slums were suddenly alive with life. Nook and cranny, a sniper hid. They would take a few shots at Royale troops, then relocate. The men had an expert knowledge of the area, and knew shortcuts and secrets of the neighborhoods. Roads were littered with IED's and car bombs. Small units of guerillas harrassed royale troops, armed with rifle, machine guns, RPGs, and improvised grenades (molotov cocktails, etc). The small guerilla forces so far proved far too mobile and knowledgable of their surrounding area to be caught and killed by Royale troops. Cassualties were few, thus far in the Royale sweep, perhaps a dozen wounded and an equal number wounded. Guerillas found easy hiding spots in the residents houses, who were either sympathetic to the leftists' cause or generally hated the government.

Seven rocket pods screamed out of their holdings, descending towards TPF City at almost 500 miles per hour. Inside each were two Burnsian Helljumpers, equipped with weapons, ammunition and survival gear. Seven and a half minutes later, parachutes opened and the pods' speed slowed to just 30 miles per hour. Airbags, much like those used in the Mars Rovers, deployed with thirty feet to go. The pods bounced around like toys in the darkness. Finally, they settled, and the airbags deflated to reveal hatches in the sides of the craft. As they exited, the Helljumpers pulled camoflauge netting over the pods, which would either be recovered by the Burnsian air force or remote self-destructed.

The leader of the group was one Commander Matthew Al-Nittan.

The Marines scrambled to their landing craft as the submarines locked their cruise missiles on the coast. It seemed for the time that the beach was empty; the GDA beachhead was sixty klicks to the north. As the shore neared, the landing craft began releasing small jet-skis into the water, which were ridden by two Marines each. They reached the shore, and began searching for any sign of defenses.

"Remember your team assignments. Alpha, set up a perimeter. Beta, clear that farmhouse; kill anyone inside and get rid of the bodies. We'll wait for the arrival here. And remember: we're Socialist."

The loudspeaker on the Definate Allegiance blared. "Now hear this! Now hear this! All landing parties report to Deck Six, Sub-level A! I say again, all landing parties report to Deck Six, Sub-level A! Now hear this, now hear..."

Helicopters subsequently became targets of rebel machine gun nests, RPG fire, and the small amount of surface-to-air missile launchers the rebels had. Rebels had their own, home-made mortars. They were crude but effective, and had extremely large kill and injure zones. They were designed to fire out bee-bee's and other shrapnel like objects from them.

At the heart of the rebels positions, a barricade was established. Assuming it would protect them from aerial attacks, civilians were encouraged to come out into the streets around the rebels to act as a meat-shield. The slums were, after all, a heavily populated area.

45th Independent Armoured Brigade broke off from the main force to take a rebel hotspot, (City to the East most) but had called for an airstrike. A single Russian-made Tu-160 Strategic bomber flew over (Same City) and dropped twelve AS-15 Kents. These landed on the weapons factory, city hall, and several other major point of expected resitance. All together an estimate of sixty percent of the city had been destroyed. The 45th sent an armoured battalion of eighteen tanks and six hundred men. The armoured battalion, the 107th Jack Daniels were inserted in the mostly destroyed Western part of the city. It was now that the slums of the city were truly alive with life. A massive propaganda campaign was launched by the socialists, essentially telling those that were trapped in by the Royale troops that the rebels will give them their livelyhood back.

Inside the slums, because no suplies would be able to arrive by land, supermarkets were seized by rebels, who promised that no one would go without food (they also said that it was the government and their corporate allies who planned to starve the working class of the nation). Banks and police checkpoints within the rebel-controlled area were overrun and their assests seized. Socialists began to issue out bank money to the people living in the slums, as payment for their work, and all debts were cancelled.

Essentially the slums formed their own government, and even held 'emergency elections' -- in which several socialist candidates ran as leaders of "The People's Freedom Provisional Government." From a local school inside the slums, a PA system was even taken out. It was used as a propaganda tool, and the rebels begun to send out messages to forces outside and inside rebel territory, telling of their "legitimate claim to the TPF government." The slums of TPF City had become the second Paris Commune.

Outside the city, a small group of the socialists had been sent out before the slums had been blockaded. They drove a van, with the logo of a private company on it, so to seem as if they were capitalist. They witnessed the Burnsian's come down from the sky, rather violently, and went toward their landing zone. Approaching carefully, they emerged from the van carrying rifles --although one man had an RPG.

"You're the Burnsians?" Asked the lead man.

The bombings had taken their toll. The only problem was that it had taken its toll on civilians, and not so much the insurgents. About a dozen insurgents had been wounded, and three killed. They hadn't counted the civilian deaths, but one of the bombs hit a school which was operating at the time.

Likewise, on the west, there hadn't been much in the way of guerilla deaths. IEDs littered the roads, snipers were around every corner, and the guerillas used new explosives from the Bursians to attack the armour. They had molotov cocktails for attacking infantry and home-made sticky bombs for anti-armour along side RPG's and a few anti-tank guided missiles. The sticky bombs were a simple but powerful device -- insurgents packed as much high explosives as possible into a tube-sock and coated the outside with a glue-like substance that allowed it to stick to vehicles, the road, or where ever it landed (for the most part). A primative fuse did the trick for these.

Guerillas continued their small-group raids and harrassed the battalion as it moved in. Morale was very high, and the insurgent-occupied area was well connected. The insurgents had devised ways to communicate quickly, easily, and effectively.

More missiles reigned down on rebel held territory in the city, and more destruction was wreaked. Several businesses were destroyed, as well as some fast food resturants that operated in the area. Several dozen insurgents had been wounded and atleast twelve. Initial intelligence reports from the so-called "Provisional Government" said that atleast 500 children were dead at the school alone. Another hundred, they estimated, had been killed in the latest strikes, but there wasn't an official body count. There really wasn't any time. Defenses were being prepared as several baracades were erected and several fall back positions were being constructed.

A force of two hundred or so guerillas was formed up, and given an important mission. They moved into a place the forces that opposed them had seemingly forgot -- the sewers and the subways. There they set up barricades and traps, and mapped out the area.

A very special operation was put together with all haste. As they had maps of the subway, they noticed something. Many of the tunnels went directly underneath enemy forces -- particularly the attacking armoured brigade. So, the guerillas under Halladi supervision packed all the trains in the area with explosives both home-made and from Burnsian explosives. Each of the trains had about a tonne of explosives on it, enough to destroy something as big as -- oh say, the parliament building in the United Kingdom. They were set out and rigged to explode as they reached the distance to the enemy forces.

Just minutes before the 42nd Medical Support Battalion reach the Jack Daniels Battalion the ground collpased, destroying every heavily damaged tanks plus four more Lang-Panzer I-4C's. The infantry only lost four troops and about a dozen to actual fire fights.

The 88th Battalion's assualt was going nearly un-impaired as they march up on the Rebel's southern flank. Several IEDs and sniper bullets killed in the upwards of twenty troops, and about two BMP-3 APCs had been lost due to IEDs.

Due to the "apparent" un-effectiveness (Damnit, I can't find the right word) of the small ammount of bombs, the Air Force has sent ten Tu-160's each with fourteen AS-16 Kick backers. The total of a hundred, forty bombs. These will be dropped sparadically all over the city, possible Friendly fire may be of consequence.

Soon blogs were posted and videos were posted. The populace watched these images in horror and preached for revenge. The Second Wave of attacks had begun. These were targeted once again at important military bases around the country.

Over 400 attacks were counted.

40,000 troops died.

The first seeds of dissent were sown in the mind of the military. They didn't want to die for this dictator. Why should they? One more attack and they might take it seriously.
