Going MT (OOC, entirely open)

Chronosia

I've been thinking (And being prodded by others) about going MT and forming some sort of MT persona with which to play as Chronosia (Not abandoning my FT though.). I'm not really sure about how to begin or what sort of a template/idea to use, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or advice for me?

Much appreciated.

Oh, so many ideas,

Good starts are always a civil war. Have mutiple factions fight it, and see who comes out on top.

*shrug*. Depends how evil you want to be. For more evilness, the trend seems to be mega-corporations, so I would suggest something different, like a military junta. (Is that the word?) Just to be different.

For moderate evilness/moral unalignment, I'd suggest some sort of representative democracy, but with a very xenophobic, nationalist, or some such population.

Then of course, you could always play as an organization instead of a nation, perhaps with a nation that you're based out of.

Hmm, alot to ponder indeed. Evil and Xenophobic inevitably aids me in my ideals, so I'd go for something along those lines.Hm...

Well, if you'd like to maximize evilness while still maintaining uniquness, I'd try some sort of repressive government with extreme racial, organizational, religious, etc. views (that goes under xenophobic, I guess).
In order to start, civil wars like TPF said are good, though slightly overused. I might suggest maybe a developing insurrection, rebellion terror movement, or corporate war that allows a political body to surruptitiously take control.

The "mysterious realm enshrouded in darkness" idea of a nation—i.e. a state with closed borders and rumours of supernatural activity within, with a very odd government and innumerable chaotic legions of potentially devastating power and armament, is a fairly good MT idea for neutrally evil nations, unlike all of the corporations that go around amongst newbies, such as Blackhelm Confederacy and the Kraven Corporation, or the blatantly evil religious fundamentalist dictatorships of an older era, such as Doomingsland and Vegana.

One of the important things to remember is that MT is a lot like FT, with a crapload of interwoven alliances centering around a couple of large blocs—the Sovereign League primarily on one side, Gholgoth primarily on the other, although the two alliances, like in the Cold War, have only ever interacted on an alliance level via proxy. On a slightly smaller scale the same conflicts have been played out between the Global Alliance of Sovereign Nations and Corporate Alliance. My advice is, if you can stay out of this mess, do so. :P

So something mostly along the lines of "This is Transylvania, Transylvania is not England. Our ways are not your ways and you shall see many strange things"? :P

OOC: So, basically, me. :D

I'd suggest starting with what seems most like you, and then following that basic idea out IC. For example, I used to think (very stupidly) that best RL government would be an absolute monarchy that revolved around military power and used religion to dominate its people, so I created The Warmaster around that model. However, after acting in-character for a while, The Warmaster became a twisted dystopia (it had to happen), and so now we have the omnipresent, xenophobic, arrogant, fanatical, merciless society based on a twisted code of honor and hatred of one's enemies that we all love to hate. In that respect, I consider myself successful. *grin*

Become a Judeo-Fascist State where the national religion is the worshipping of Rush (Of Salesmen!) and where the rulers are Spaniards.

But the majority are of Icelandic descent!

I have alot of time on my hands, I know.

actually I was thinking more of Skaven from Warhammer/40K, but yeah, your nation is kind of skaven-ish, although you're really too much into those big alliance blocs to be a dark land of mystery and shit... and this whole "everyone else is an infidel pagan heathen pervert" spiel is far from original. Even Doom acknowledges that. :P

Well if your location tag is correct why not use what you are bound to know as a back ground? i.e. Weegie style sectarianism taken to a whole new level, a sort of Wee Free Weegie Nazi Empire.

An evil theocratic nation based on a super extreme version of the Free Chruch of scotland could be quite entertainingly twisted and would give you an excuse to abuse anyone who attempts to listen to you.

Or you could just be go all-out and be a real Nazi like me :P

A silly ideology is clearly the way forward for you, it sets your nation apart from the pack and makes you different from "LOLZ I R EMPYR" and "LOLZ I R DEMOKRACEE"

Hey Chrono,

I keep my Modern Tech side by simply holding onto the Origional Land on NS Earth. I make sure that in some small my MT Half and FT Half know each othe rexist, but beyond simple role play they have nothing to do with each other. I maintan both seperate for best results, allowing my MT Nation to have an Executive Government to govern it's own ideals and situations. Basically they have their own Armed Forces and use them in MT RP's should the need arise.

I know it doesn't make half the sense it should, but in summary I keep my Modern-Tech Anagonia seperate from the History of the Future-Tech. In doing so I prevent Godmodding on a severe scale, and I never allow my Future Tech capabilities to intrude to prevent much fun from MT.

Thats about what I do, hope it helps.

An idea that I always toyed with, but never put into action, was the Mafia. It would fit the profile of a terrorist organization, but not be expressly terroristic. You could claim that the Mafia had wrestled land from the Italian government or something. Just an idea.

I have no MT nation nor do I have any intention of developing one right now. Don't mistake what I say for disdain. I thoroughly enjoy reading through MT threads. The good ones are fascinating and creative. I simply do not have the ability to write for both a developing FT nation and what would be an even newer MT nation. My only piece of advice is this; don't spread yourself so thin that both nations suffer. You pretty much define Chaos as the Imperium of Chronosia here on the NS boards. Have you even noticed how quickly people jump onto the threads that you start? You're a great writer and that forces others, myself included, to be great writers.

Anyway, I don't want to preach. More power to you if you can pull it off. Many people probably do and do so very successfully. I doubt you'll have my problems either. Just don't bite of more than you can chew. Those of us in FT like the Imperium just the way it is. :p

You could RP the take over of my nation. I haven't done much in MT, and you would get my navy which I do not keep track of. It does have one of the best ships in the NS world in it though, aswell as 6 iceberg carriers.

*shakes head* No, I invented that. Seriously. I swear, no one did that before me. Fucking posers.

Well, with Chaos, he's the infidel pagan heathen pervert. It's kinda their thing. So it'd actually be "everyone else is the saintly holy chaste priest".

I don't think I'm deserving of such praise, ah well...:P Still thinking everything through, messing with some ideas while I write up the rest of my big Charybdis post.
