The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all. Consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

Overview: Founded in 1948 upon the signing of the Treaty of Brussels, NATO is a European/Western Hemisphere military alliance. The organization was founded to defend Europe from the increasing threat of the Soviet Union. Now, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO operated in Peacekeeping operations in the Former Yugoslav republics and is now currently operating in Afghanistan. The organization has also begun to defiantly combat terrorism around the globe.

the US calls for an additional amount of NATO troops to be deployed to Afghanistan, as the US is already deploying many to there and Korea, we are unable to send more, but we would hope that our European allies would be willing to send more units, since they are certainly able to.
