The Year is 2455.
The Earth is a different place now, no longer divided between fractured and squabbling countries. After the Third Great War in 2120 resulted in the devestation of China, Korea, Russia, and Germany, three blocs arose from the ashes, of the Americas, Asia, and Africa. War was sparked again in 2143 when the African coalition attacked the Asian national alliance, and lasted on for 72 years, until peace was brokered by the neutral American faction in 2215. The two blocs were devestated, and the American group, sensing opportunity, dove in, conquering both factions and uniting the entire planet at long last, under the Global Foundation. The Foundation's democracy, based from American principles, lasted peacefully for two centuries, as basic space travel was discovered that allowed the GF to establish small colonies on Titan, Mars, Europa, the Moon, Io, and Ganymede.
In 2416, what was considered a breakthrough was discovered: first contact with alien life, when a strange-looking organic exploratory spacecraft crash-landed at Ganymede Base. However, the contact was not good: a misunderstanding between the alien pilots and the human colonists ensued, which resulted in a small skirmish and the deaths of the aliens. The ship was locked down in Ganymede Base, and looked over for further examination. The Humans were not able to decipher any of the organic technology, and the incident fell from site.
It came back into public view when in 2450, three organic-looking ships jumped into the system. GF ships were sent to greet them, and were promptly destroyed by the three alien vessels. A massive influx of alien bioships ensued into the Earth system, as Ganymede, Io, Europa, and Titan all fell in the period of three years to the bukered defenders. In 2454, the alien fleet launched a preemptive Mars attack, but was repulsed. The attack was renewed six months later, and Mars fell. December 2454 opened with the first assault on Earth, and the government, still unable to adequately respond to the bizarre alien technology, was hit badly, and massive alien pushes into Earth proceeded.
Year 2455: The Global Foundation is in turmoil after the GF capital of Paris was levelled by an alien attack. The alien invaders are spread out thin across the world, but are a dominant threat, and to all intents and purposes, winning the war, though densest in the former Western Europe. This RP takes place as the aliens, dubbed by the GF as the "Torrent", begin the final push into free and unoccupied Human territory, the former USA and Canada. The GF government is based in Chicago, now the former US's largest city, and defenses have been erected across the landscape of America. Humans across the American and Canadian lands prepare for the worst as the Torrent gears up for a final assault. Will the aliens prove successful and will humanity fall, or will humanity's final resistance turn back the tide?
Brief Description of the Time's Technology: Technology, while advancing, is nowhere near Star Wars or Star Trek. Energy weapons, for the humans, do not yet exist, and basic bullet-driven guns are the primary infantry and portable man-wielded weapons, though have been developed up to allowing faster rates of fire, better targeting, longer ranges, and harder impacts. Likewise, vehicles are not hover-capable, but are still wheel-driven or basic walker/mech units, ranging from fast scouts to heavy, slathering juggernauts bristling with missiles and covered in guns. Aircraft is faster, sleeker, more maneuverable, though still uses missile and projectile weaponry. The basic Human spacecraft are basic. Energy is provided through fusion reactors, and weapons consist of high-powered, massive slugthrowers or nuclear missile launchers.
The Torrent, however, have the definite technological advantage. Torrent infantry and carried weapons are defined by energy weapons or plasma-coated projectiles, though while packing a larger punch then the human weapons, sacrifice rate of fire. Torrent ground vehicles utilize hover drives to propel them slightly off the ground, allowing for faster speed (though hover ability has some weaknesses as well). Torrent air vehicles are graded-up ground vehicles essentially, not as fast as human air vehicles, but stronger, tougher, and wielding more powerful weaponry. Torrent Space vehicles include sleek fighter craft to large starcraft and transport vessels armed with energy weaponry, though are only slightly stronger than human vessels.
A basic description of the Torrent physically: the Torrent consist of two types of alien creatures: Overminds and Spreaders. Overminds are large, powerful reptiles with all sorts of colored skin, averaging around two feet taller than the average human. Smarter, tougher, stronger, faster...Overminds are dominant, feared forces. Their weakness lies in number, however: the race is the clear minority, and usually only serve in command positions or in elite groups. Spreaders are the grunts of the Torrent force, serving every maintenence position and the bulk of the military. Roughly the height of a human, Spreaders are nonetheless fairly intelligent, though are as weak as the average human and slightly slower. Spreaders are multi-colored arachnids.
Sort of a Halo/Gears of War/Independence Day Twist here. If you can understand either of those, youcan understand this RP pretty easy.
Now, on to the basic RP overview.
1) I will play as Torrent Command, and generally as the aliens; however, if you'd also like to play as them, that's acceptable, simply create a Torrent Character through the below template (however, we'll need more human characters than Torrent characters).
2) You don't have to play as governmental or military forces, and I encourage you to play as vigilantes, civilians simply trying to get out of the way and survive, free-lancing traitors to either species (that's right-if you want to sell out humanity, or sell Torrent technology to the humans, go right ahead), or anything you can really think of for creativity and variety.
3) This isn't a war RP, in the sense of constant battles and tactical planning-simply a character RP set in a war-time scenario. Certainly, battles will arise and struggles fought, but in no war are battles fought night and day, every day of the year, and this is no exception to that rule.
4) If you have any questions, please post them, and I'll do my best to answer them.
5) This is pretty open to plot twists-go ahead and get into situations, stick in twists, etc.

Having worked for numerous Corporations as a hired gun, he is quite a proficient killer, and is an expert at quick blitz strikes into enemy strong holds, killing needed targets, then withdrawing. He is currently thirty years of age.

He fled to the United States after Torrent forces occupied his territory. He is extremely mysterious, and will go to any leanths to survive, no matter how many people he must double or triple cross to do so. Armed with his traditional Scimitar and a large Anti-material rifle, among other weapons, Feris is a great fighter and an extremely skilled bomb-maker.

Seperated from the rest of the army after the evacuation of the eastern coast(New York area) him and his remaining squad were forced to protect the refugees of a devastated city still caught behind enemy lines.

History: A Nicaraguan regional military intellectual, he decided to go to West Point at the age of fifteen and succeded there withen a year, while the average time from for a student was two years and was the youngest man ever let into the Global Foundation Marine legally, at fifteen. We was given the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and was in command of 101st Fleet, 29th Marine Corp Detachment, 44th Terra Marine Assualt Division, 99th Terra Marine Mobile Assualt Regiment, 508th Spacial Dropping Marine Battalion, C Company, 2nd Platoon, 1st Squad. He led his men on the defence of Europa and made a highly succesful stand against the Torrent for nine days until he was relieved and cycled back to Mars. He was promoted to Company Commander after all of the higher ranks where killed on Europa. He requested C Company to be moved to Io, but the Io defence council believed they had enough troops. Io fell the next month.
We then was put on the Global Foundation Fleet ship, GFF Arkansas and held off eighty-three attempts to board the ship, using only his company. The enemy casuielity list was in the hundred while Captain Solis lost nearly his whole company. They survived the first assualt on Mars and were moved back to Earth along with the needed-to-be-repaired Arkansas They were stationed on the Arkansas for a year, until the Torent attacked Earth. The Arkansas was damaged beyond repair and was ordered to evacuate. Captain Nequlia, had stayed on the ship and single handedly protected the fleeing Marines and Shipsmen. It is un-known if he had died. With this they were forced to defend Fort Knox but where then cycled back to Quebec, the new GF capitol. He was then promoted to Major and given command of the 508th, which at this time only has seven hundred infantry men and no armour.
He is now smoking outside of his Battalion HQ just outside of the recently bombed City Hall. He is now eighteen.

They survived the first assualt on Mars and were moved back to Earth along with the needed-to-be-repaired Arkansas They were stationed on the Arkansas for a year, until the Torent attacked Earth. The Arkansas was damaged beyond repair and was ordered to evacuate. Captain Nequlia, had stayed on the ship and single handedly protected the fleeing Marines and Shipsmen. It is un-known if he had died. With this they were forced to defend Fort Knox but where then cycled back to Quebec, the new GF capitol. He was then promoted to Major and given command of the 508th, which at this time only has seven hundred infantry men and no armour.
