President Roberts flicked through the news channels and sighed.

"Another day, another war...", he thought to himself. As he watched the screen millions were fighting battles, millions were being killed, tortured, misplaced and...

"....all for what? A piece of land here, a resource there, just to exert power? Well I've had it!" He said that last bit aloud making his aides jump.

"Patterson, I want you to do something for me", said Roberts. Patterson was the Foreign Secretary for Londim and had managed to settle disputes with Londims former enemies, now friends. He was the man for the job.

"What is it Mr President?", Patterson asked cautiously.

" I want you to send the following message to every nation possible..."

Message from Londim.

Dear Leaders of the world,
As you read this letter millions of people are dying, maybe some of your own citizens. The cause is not disease, but our own invention. War. For thousands of years, nations have fought wars for different reasons, for revenge, for power, for wealth. It's time this came to an end. Why you may ask. The reason, it's a waste of resources, of people, of ideas. So I invite you to a peace summit in our capital city of Ryse. It's time we worked together.

We are sorry, but as overpopulation grips the world, the only solution is to make people leave it. Fast. Overpopulation is an issue to every nation, and the only way to cure it is to take more territory. Wars are fought because one nation wants to destroy another. One idealogy doesn't mix with another. Trying to stop wars is futile, and it will never happen.

Military Commander Blak scornfully tossed the print-out onto the fireplace. "Naive fool," he muttered. "War shall never stop, least of all because some half-assed leader of a backwater country has his conscience act up on him."

He typed up a quick reply.

As we have already told one nation recently, we cannot and will not
put ourselves and our allies at risk through reckless and heedless
deproliferation. We wonder if this 'summit' may merely be an poorly thought
out ploy by the nation of Londim to disarm other nations so as to make them easy prey. As such, we advise all sane nations not to heed this dangerous
madman's apacolyptic demands.

Official Message to Mr. Darren Roberts, President of Londim

Perhaps you would like to suggest how we achieve peace? Human nature is such that any attempt to achieve peace by disarming, as you suggest, will ultimately fail. There will always be those who choose not to disarm, and can simply overrun those who choose to like tanks against tortoises.

The only way to achieve peace in the world is through war. Aye, even eternal war; for once all others are dead except yourself, peace will reign. Before then, as the Imperium's mission statement maintains, peace can never be achieved. It is summarised as our unofficial motto, Solus per bellum pax facta posse, roughly translated as "Only through war can peace be achieved."

Hearken to the advice of those who specialise in peace, and do not propose foolish schemes such as this.
