Admiral Kech looked around nervoulsly around the bridge of the Super Flying Fortress "Phobos".Behing him sat Supreme Emperor of Murgerspher,Adi-Kid-Mundi.The Emperor wason escort from a diplomatic mission to the barbaric planet of Sharka who had agreed to an alliance to Murgerspher.They were being escorted by a fleet of 8 Destroyers,4 Carriers,10 Cruisers,and 12 Frigates along with the "Phobos".
The Admiral cleared his throat as he spoke to his nav officer,"Are you sure that wecan not jump to slipspace?"Yes sir,the nav officer replied,"There seems to be a cloud of ionized gas surronding the fleet.There is no direct threat but we can not jump.We can move but not jump.""How long will it take to move ou of the coud?Kech demanded."Our AI is calculating 5 hours."said the navofficer."Ok",the Admiral said quietly,then barked,"Move fleet all full out of thecloud."
The Admiral knew something was wrong.It was his soldier sense.He knew that something didnt fit.He was about to order the AI to order an active sacn of the cloud but was too late.Explosions,some distant and some threatingly close
sounded all around them."Shields up." he screamed to his crew.There shield activated."Give mea damage report on the "phobos"and the rest of the fleet."Our hull tooksome minor hits but nothing serious but the fleet has sustained massive casualties.Only 2 frigates and a destroyer unharmed.1Carrier took damage similar to ours and 3 cruisers are semi-functional."The AI reported briskly.The Admiral said 'What in the hell hit us? he askedbut he already knew the ansewer."Plasma minefield and som... theAI was cut off mid-sentence."Boogies and lots of them coming in Sir.Hailing them and they are not resonding,orders?""Have the ships form a defensive perimter around the "phobos" and prepare to repel borders.We have pirates men.Send a distress signal at full strength to all ships in the area.Broadcast as follows.
This is Admiral Kech of the Murgerpherian Royal Navy.We are under heavy attack by pirates and need immeadiate assitance.Any friendly ships in the area make do course to these coordinates.Mesage End.

The 20 heavy guns on the "Phobos" fired a ranging volley at the enemy ships.
