This OOC thread is for Nueve Italia (myself) and Rennidan, in the interests of improving Rennidan's NS RP skills.

First off, as I mentioned in the TG, read the stickies: there is a lot of valuable information there, and though it is long, you'll have a better understanding of the NS world.

Secondly, go here: Rennidanian Stats (http://www.nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?region=The_Rennidonian_Plains&nation=rennidan)

This is a calculator created for NS. It takes those little issues you do and turns them into the actual numbers of a nation. You can use those numbers (and will) to influence your RP. For instance, you spend heavily in Administration, so your government is most likely extensive if it's Democratic or your leader (if it's a monarchy, dictatorship, or so on) is extremely wealthy.

Now, on that calculator, take a look at your Defense Budget. That's how much you spend on all of your military. This will definately affect you in alot of RPs, so look it up often (these numbers change as your nation grows).

I guess I'll get into the different RPs here. As far as overall topics go, there are 2 types (in my opinion): Character RPs, and War RPs. Character is based around one or several people, and is usually based along the lines of political intrigue, assasinations, behind the scenes stuff, diplomatic relations and meetings, and so on. War RPs are conflicts between 2 or more nations (or groups; doesn't have to be an entire nation) in which instead of focusing on characters, you're going to focus on battle strategy and technology. My advice in getting into War RPs ( I may be wrong) is to learn to use your infantry first, then vehicles and artillery, then naval power, and finally your air force. Also, don't diversify your attention: if you want your navy to be the strongest branch, you can't also have your army equal to it: there's only so much funding.

So, for the wargame I'm going to set up when you're ready, we'll start out with infantry. Learn weapon statistics (just type in names on wiki or google, something will come up) and infantry manuevers, combat lingo, and so on. If you don't know the four F's of infantry combat, I'll let you in now:

1.) Find him: Find your enemy. It's always better to see them first
2.) Fix him: Focus your firepower on the enemy. They'll usually take cover, unless they're not that smart. (Remember: Soldiers don't have infinite ammo! To make your RP more realistic, take into account things like supplies, ammo, fuel, etc.)
3.) Flank him: Get on your enemy's flank. To do this, move a group of your infantry to the side or rear of the enemy's position where they still have cover.
4.) Finish him: Use the group you flanked the enemy with and kill them. Usually, they'll already be pinned (which you did before), so wherever they run, they'll be killed.

Remember these basic strategies, and infantry combat will be a cinch. Any questions so far?

None as of yet. The main question I have is what the general layout for roleplaying a war is, but I'm sure I'll see that in the wargame. What better way to learn than to dive in at the deep end?

So, I'm ready for the wargame whenever you are, good sir.
