Since some of the other horror RPGs on this board have been going downhill lately, I am willing to try my own hand at making one. Instead of MT, I figure it'd be interesting to go FT for this one.

The basic plot will be quite generic and cookie-cutter. On a planet on the edge of the known galaxy, the massive Arcology 'Olympus' apparently discovered an ancient, insidious alien artifact and began to study it, in hopes of unlocking it's secrets. Of course, a few months later all contact with Olympus is lost. Therefore, an elite team assembled from various space-faring nations is assembled, and on a single Battleship are sent to investigate.

Rules!

1) All characters are normal humans. That means no Jedi, no Psykers, No Chaos lords, No Super Soldiers and No aliens.
2) I will allow each player to have their own armament, but within reason. A Machine Gun, Pistol and several grenades is an example of reasonable equipment. A Shoulder-mounted Railgun, Biplasma minigun and a Lightsaber is not.
3) Do not take liberties with other players characters without their express written permission. This includes plot twists and the like.
4)Feel free to makes your own NPCs to tag along with the group, but they must also be reasonable.

Bio: Johan Odel is an elite soldier from the Tocrowkian Reich's Assairs Guard division. He has won countless battles in the name of the Interstellar Reich, and is utterly loyal to them. Due to his reputation, he has been chosen to lead both his own unit and the multi-national forces in the operation to Olympus.

((I will also be playing six other NPCs that are a part of Johan's unit. And yes, that is Oded Fehr as Carlos Olivera...but Oded is one of my favorite actors, and a bad ass. So that's why I chose him.))

Any particular reason for "humans only"?

I can understand desire not to have ubersuperheroalienofd00m along, but are "subhuman" species allowed? (i.e. Goblins).

I'm assuming not, but worth the asking.

Why would you mess around with supersoldiers? DNA modification would be expensive, unreliable and prone to mutation, not to mention probably illegal in many nations. Supersoldiers would also have to be raised from birth rather than recruited later in life, and how many goverments are honestly going to be willing to invest that much time, for something that will take so long?

Sixteen years (assuming DNA modification would permit relative youth in the Forces), and a vast input of time and money (education, food etc.) and you'd only get a few in - not to mention hard to replace.
Compare that to a couple of months training, so only a couple of months of food and accomodation costs, no worries about basic education, and if you need more troops - use the draft! Cheaper, easier, more efficient.

He was born in a planet called Osaka II, into a society and culture very close to that of old Earth's Japan in the 16th century. His father was the daimyo of their mighty clan, which lived in a castle outside of the only city on the planet. Shadow spent his life from the age of 4 to 18 in the city's best ninjutsu-ryu. When he wasn't in there, he ran in the hills and forests of the beautiful planet. He was best student in the ryu's history, the pride of his clan - master of sword, superior close quarters fighter, decent sharpshooter, talented tracker and wall-climber, good swimmer and runner. Most of all, however, he was... well, shadow. His talents in moving unnoticed and without the slightest sound were unsurpassed. This is why he became the youngest member that the city's famous Shogun Guard has ever had, in the age of 19. In that same year, Osaka II became part of the Madnestian Federated Republics, and plans were made for sending members of the Guard to serve in Republics' armed forces as a SpecOps Recon unit. The best 20 of them were handpicked and sent to Space Naval Infatry HQ in Tellus, Shadow as one of them. The mission in hand is the 13th in his career in the MFR's SNI.



OOC: This character is from Old Atlantia's Future Tech Survival Horror few months ago, the bio was made to fit to the plotline of that RP... but I don't see why it wouldn't do here just as well. It's just more irrelevant now.

Kulikovia several decades ago finally signed legislation allowing the military to undertake operations and space defense stations as well as exploration. Konovski is smart, strong, and reliable. However, he is stubborn and proud.

To actually rebut this argument, a super-soldier engineering program is very smart if your government can put in the time and money into such a pursuit. Always depends on your own FT-tech, but if you use a force-nullifying ability of sorts, modify the genetic code to your specifications, and simply keep droid brains overseeing every step of the process (and droids are cheap), it'd be relatively easy (that's the way I do it). If you're constantly at war or constantly at odds, however, I wouldn't bother.

Taylor moved with the secondary group of Federation refugees to the planet Quapra, and to the now-dubbed Pinnacle Base atop the planet's many towering rocky spires and buttes. She was taught to hate the Dominion which had uprooted the democratic Federation, and grew up headstrong, independent, and aggressive. Though her appearance seems generally friendly, Taylor is somewhat fiery and pushy for action. However, she became a combat medic in the Federate Alliance's (the new faction from the old Federation) medical corps, and quickly became quite good during the Sentinel War with the Sagitan Pirates and the Underground in the Dominion's Ring Worlds.

Moving on:

Backpack, Bandolier, Ammo Stores, and Ration packs I doubt I have to explain. The Rifle is a 30-shot, energy-throwing battle rifle based off of the DC-17M Clone Rifle (If you've played the game Republic Commandon, that's it), except without the anti-armor ability-the two implements with it are a gun-light and a high-power scoping unit. The Needler is a 20-shot, energy-coated Needle-shooter that's compact enough to fit into a pistol-like gun body. The Vibro-blade is well...a blade that vibrates really quickly to cause severe lacerations and quick cuts. A com-scan is a communication device and general basic scanner all in one small, hand-held tool. A Plasma Cutter is a basic, utlitarian cutting torch to quickly cut through denser materials, such as light metals. A Cryoban grenade is a small, cylindrical grenade that upon either a timer or contact shoots out a small radius of severe cold (the internal "stuff" that is emitted, Cryoban, absorbs heat) that can inflict paralysis, death, or other bad effects.
Onto the stuff inside the pack...
A Hypospray is a general medical tool that stimulates nerve clusters. Dermal regnerators are short-acting, limited devices to prevent skin damage and seal lacerations and other messy wounds. A portable thermal unit is how it sounds-a small device that emits heat for a limited time period in the event that heat is not able to be produced (useful for cold environments). Portable Bacta Dispensors are basically small units of bacta held in tight, durable canisters (emphasis on small-they ain't meant to heal someone losing both legs and a foot and a half of large intestine, more like simple wounds that would otherwise hinder combat and transportation, short-term things). Anesthetic Spray is a liquid base used to-like it sounds-ward off pain in small to medium-sized wounds that happen to be quite painful (better for surface wounds, naturally). Quick-Seal Splints are light and small field utensiles used to quickly set a broken bone so that precious time isn't used up trying to manage with it. The last items, Fast-Apply Bandages, are Bandages, simply put, with increased durablility and more adhesiveness.

Sorry for all the little things, but I'd prefer to answer the questions now and be complete so the storyline can progress.
