Gladius Entertainment
Raw Combat!
What is it that has fascinated the human mind for centuries? What one thing has excited and terrified, all at the same time, the world population for thousands of years? What was the ultimate sporting event, in which everything was on the line!? Combat.
With the repealing of several laws in the Coalition, the 'Gladiator Sports' were no longer banned. And immidiately Gladius Entertainment was taking advantage, creating a patent and production lisence. The sport was to be real, men armed with swords, daggers, spears, whatever, put into the arena and instructed to tear the living hell out of one another. Not just one on one's, but team events, and man versus beast. During Roman times this type of entertainment kept disgruntled populations under control for years, decades... now thanks to the word 'Capitalism', Gladius would be getting rich off of it. A massive arena had already been constructed, able to hold some 170,000 people, included was an underground training and holding facility for fighters. The fighters were a unique breed. Only half were convicts given to to Gladius by the Government... the other half were volenteers. Men (and women) who were simply fed up with everyday life, and wanted to throw the dice in the arena. The sport would be gruesome, blood and guts galore, but one thing was sure... money was to be made. Across the globe the games would be seen, transmitted via television to every household across the planet. Fights would be constant, even when the crowds went home, fights would be taped and aired the next day. It was estimated that some 2,600 people would die every day... but no one really cared about that small fact. There was money to be made.
