Lately the Danish Government has been in a steep and marked decline. Starting with the loss of Norway to Sweden in the Napoleonic Wars, then the Schleswig wars between Denmark and Prussia lost Denmark in southern holdings. When the two famous duchies on the south were lost the economy also went corkscrewing down, the tiny land available to Denmark could not feed it’s urbanizing population. Luckily it turned out it was actually cheaper to import grains then to grow them domestically. Since that revelation the Danish freed up much of their land now mostly used for dairy and pork products.

The political machine of Denmark has become unified every party is either pushing for closer relations with Britain and economic and possibly military revenge on Germany for the loss of Holstien and Scheleswig. The other half believes that it should isolate itself from Europe by land and continue where it is strongest. The whole group became disillusioned with Europe after the London protocols ending the war, the fate of Denmark being decided by foreign powers. For the most part Denmark is a peaceful state and would not consider war in the top ten options, however more and more radicals are coming to power.

Denmark, with it’s 63 Kilometer boarder with Germany, has little notion of conquest except through naval means. The official outlook is, hold the boarder and keep a strong navy to hold the seas. The Danish royal navy is slightly behind the British in technology, and slightly behind the German Imperial Navy for numbers. The navy is still a force to be reckoned with and what follows are the major warships available to Denmark. (There are more, Gunboats and smaller screw Frigates but this is Major Warships.

The army pf Denmark is another matter, instead of the well oiled machine of the navy, the army is a plodding force mainly used for show. Though conscription is in effect it is mostly ignored. Even though the army is well supplied and armed, it could not stand up against a small invasion force with their mind set on a target.

Army:

45,000 Standing Infantry Army (3 Divisions)
3,000 Cavalry (In one Brigade)
210 Guns (In 21 Batteries 15 of Which are on the German Boarder)

The Army is small but the point can not be stressed it is well armed. Denmark was at the forefront of rocketry in it’s development, ballistics and explosives are some what of a passion for army officers. The size of the country also helps, the army can move by rail from the very tip of Denmark to the boarder under a day. As the Prussian invasion of 1864 the army would form a loose line harass the enemy then fall back. All units are armed with repeating rifles and have at least two automatic weapons to a regiment.

Home Guard:

The Home Guard is the reservist force of Denmark which is only a glorified militia. Every male above the age of 18 has received training, and will be called by an army officer at every town to either stand down or fight. This is an effective method as an invading army may never rest, with every village being hostile. It should be noted that not all members are armed, they are merely trained, if a body of men from a town or village is unarmed they may not fight obviously. Even if the Home Guard is armed it will be a motley assortment of muzzle loaders and old weapons.

To be edited.
