Nova Brittanica to establish colony on the Moon!

"Amazing, simply amazing! After year of study the NBSP (Nova Brittanica Space Program) is finally ready to go back to the moon, and stay! Listen to this interview we had with the head of the NBSP." News anchor Bill Bob says.

Interview Room:
"So, is it true that Nova Brittanica is going to establich a colony on the moon?" asks James Jameson, new reporter

"Yes, yes it is. Current plans have this colony five cities strong. Fort Eclypse, Nova Conventus, New Winston, New Townsend, and Supernova City." responds the Head of NBSP, Fred Armstrong says.

"So, explain a bit about each of the planned cities." says James Jameson

"Well, Fort Eclypse will be the military defence of the new colony. Nova Conventus will be like Conventus on Refuge Island, an international city for Nova Brittanica and one other nation to share. New Winston will be a town that mines resources from the Moon. New Townsend will be the major agricultural center of the colony, and Supernova City will be the capital of it all, keeping everything in order." explained Fred Armstrong.

"And where will the colony be located on the moon?" countered James Jameson.

"This was actually the first thing we considered. We found a relativly large crater. It will be our colonial borders. It also happens to be where Nova Brittanica landed it's first man on the moon." Fred Armstrong replied.

"Interesting. So how will the NBSP pay for all this?" James Jameson questioned.

"We've carefully considered this too. We've opened up all four lauch times up to extensive advertisng. There will be speakers, painted advertisments on the rockets, and a large announcment screen. Almost all of these have been filled, yet we've saved a few for the highest bidder." Fred Armstrong said

"Today, the NBSP released information on where the four launches will take place. According to their information, the four launches will take place near Fort Britain in Nova Brittonian Fiji. The NBSP has also announced that it is anxious for corporations to take the remaining adveritisng space. For more, we go to James Jameson near Fort Britain." Bill Bob announced.

"Thanks, Bill. I'm here in the province of Nova Brittonian Fiji, and it is an extremly bright, beautiful day. Meteorologists in the region say the tomorrow is going to be just as beautiful, so the launch seems inevitable. Right now, people are flocking here to see the launches. Join me again soon, when I cover the launches of the rockets." James Jameson exclaimed, smiling.

The NBSP announced that the second rocket's painting will be MacroSoft. The third rocket will have a painting from Atlantis Airlines, and the fourth rocket will have a painting from Bucktooth Beaver Oil Inc. The NBSP is urging corporations, even Griffincrest, Kravan, or Clandonia, to bid for the advertising space.

"Hello again. So, tell us, other then the moon colony, what does the NBSP have in stock?" asked Jon Colbert.

"Well, of course the moon colony will be a space base for future launchs. Also it will be the base for our lunar study. However, we're looking for the creation of colonies on Mars, the Ateroid Belt, the various other moons in the solar system, the rings of Saturn, and eventually a base in other solar systems." Fred Armstrong responded.

"So, all of this is just claiming territory for Nova Brittanica?" Jon Colbert asked, puzzled.

"To an extent, yes. However these colonies will be more based in scientific causes, not imperialization. The things our scientists could do in these places will be more then sattelites or rovers will ever be able to do." Explained Fred Armstrong.

"So science and imperialization, anything else?" Fred Armstrong questioned.

"Yes. We hope to make Mars fertile again, mine iron from asteroids, stop asteroids from crashing into Mars and Earth, study Saturn closer up, and provide space for future Nova Brittonians to live.

"Wow, sounds like a noble cause. That's all the time we have for now. Back to you Bill Bob." concluded Jon Colbert.

The Minister of Economics and Fred Armstrong chatted about the future, and how the colony was going to suck money from the Imperial Democratic Republic.

"We'll we've given them bio-engineered seeds. They are fruit trees, and they'll be able to supply the colonists with air and food once they grow. They're bio-engineered to grow in solide rock. Until then, the rockets we have here will ferry supplies in between Nova Brittanica and the Terra Luna colony. The colonists will mine moon rocks, eventually become an agricultural center, and be a base for future space exploration." Fred Armstrong said.

Then the rockets launched. They were propelled by a nuclear engine, with plutonium and uranium donated by the military. The military had only given uranum and plutonium from the nuclear weapons tests and nuclear weapons used in the Battle of Brittanica-Reich.

OOC: Sorry about the crappy launch post. I typed a better one, but Jolt kicked me off, and I accidentaly typed in the wrong password. I want to continue this RP until the moon colony has got it's own food and air.

Tlalm Hustrr stood in the crowd watching this glorious event. He smiled and started thinking about new relations he could work out between the two nations.

At the same time in an realitivly clear spot a Cortellen cameraman filmed the launch. Once the rockets were out of sight he sent the film to the Cortellen Capital building. Then he headed back to Cortellen.

Once the film arrived Effil Essi sat in an empty conferance room and watched it with a smile on his face. This film showed him how easily a space program could be started. After watching he wrote and sent a message to Nova Brittanica.

"I bring good news! The colony ships have arrived safely, and work has begun on Supernova City! For now, the colonists will be living in the colony ships until Supernova City is completed. The colonists are working on the oxygen chambers of the city as we speak. When the oxygen chamber is complete, the trees will be planted. From there the other essential buildings will be created and connected with sealed hallways." The Imperial President announced.

A voice shouts out, "How will this colony be protected?"

"For the time being, the British Londinians are protecting it. However once Fort Eclypse is built, we will take over with Imperial Space Marines and an Imperial Starfleet." George Lincoln responded.

The Oxygen Chamber has been completed, and the seeds planted. Houses are being built to house the colonists for when the colony ships leave to get more supplies. Month Two
Eight more colonists died from Lunar Sickness this month. The houses are nearing a point when the colonists can cram themselves into them. The trees in the Oxygen Chamber have started to grow and a small amount of oxygen has started to be produced. Work on the Research Center is complete, and now work has begun on the Space Dock, which the landing pad was the beggining of. Also the begginings of the Mine Shaft has started to be excavated. In the Research Center scientists are studying the victims of Lunar Sickness and have concluded the disease is due to alien bacteria.

In the late 2nd Month the Colony Ships returned to earth, and came back this month with fresh supplies, Cortellian scientists, and fifty eager new colonists. The trees in the Oxygen Chamber have grown fast and are now producing enough oxygen for fifty men. Also, the trees have brought their first fruits, and they have been harvested. Continuing research on Lunar Sickness has found that the bacteria that causes it is will die when tree sap is applied to the chest*. The mine shaft has hit a vein of asteroid iron, and all of the ore was sent down with the colony ships to Nova Brittanica. Officials have declared that all the construction necessary for Supernova City is complete, and work will begin on New Townsend.

*British Londinium, the colonists, not wanting to waste their trees, request that you bring a supply of tree sap.

To the Honourable Fred Armstrong, Head of the NBSP,

The King and many of the lords of Cotenshire, his dominion, have heard about this attempt a creating a moon colony. Having no prior claims on the moon, the King agreed to recognize the claimed territory as that of Nova Brittanica. And since your colonization is going so well, the King wanted me to make a proposition to you.

The King believes, and rightfully so, that your moon colonization will be more successful and prosperous if God’s word were spread throughout. The King also wanted me to bring up the prestige that would come from having a Christian Moon colony.

Therefore, the King has chosen a group of missionaries, lead by the Reverend Thomas Coldon and his assistant Frederick Dieppe, to travel to the moon in one of your powerful rockets and spread the One True Faith among the native peoples that inhabit the moon by constructing and maintaining a Puritan Mission.

The missionaries are preparing to leave as I write this on a large plane to your state. All I need is the cost of the rocket, or rockets, that will be needed to send them to the moon.

No, it's FT. Trust me. I RP FT. ANYONE else who RPs FT will agree with me. Anything that's in the theoretical stage right now, or not even to that stage, is FT. Stuff that's in early prototype is PMT. Unless you can magically make quantum resonance cascades with 2050 technology, when there's no theory behind them right now, then you're in FT pretty firmly.

[Conceptual work yes, but the fact is that a) antimatter is hard to produce and extremely expensive b) penning traps need to be powered and actively cooled (not fun in a vacuum -_-). If it fails, the ship goes boomin a big way. Explosion wise, you'd still get radiation along with standard hard gamma. This stuff is really nasty, and beyond lobbing microprobes at Proxima Centauri, there really isn't a lot to justify the expense or sheer hazard of making the stuff in a PMT range.
But really. I'd just use megaton range thermonukes. Radiation isn't really a bad thing in space combat, soft killed via rad damage ships are just as dead as one cut to pieces with a xaser from a light second. >.>]

The Nova Brittonian officials agreed to let the Cortellians conduct their tests, as well as the explorers on the Moon.

OOC: I didn't figure so. Their main purpose is to study all possibilities of life more then find existing life.

Royal Starfleet Press Release

The Royal Starfleet has begun weapons testing in Sector E3 on Selene (the moon). Sector E3 is located on the far side of the satellite. Authorised personnel are the only individuals allowed into this sector. Those found in this area without clearance shall be arrested.

General
Lunar Sickness has recenlty claimed the lives of five colonists. Work on the Space Dock is starting to come to an end. The Nova Brittonians and Cortellians studying the Asteroid Iron ore found oddly enough, traces of weapons grade Uranium, and only weapons grade Uranium. General
Research groups studying Lunar Sickness have finally found the answer to why the Earth bacteria is causing the disease. The Terra Luna colony is recieving strange audio signals from Space, and the bacteria swells the infected areas by expanding. The main theory explaining the weapons grade Uranium is that it was blown off of a planet and attached to an asteroid. Imperial Governor of the Terra Luna has been elected, and he is Fred Armstrong's younger brother, John Armstrong. John Armstrong has ruled that now that New Townsend is completed, Fort Eclypse will be started to be built.

Agricultural Centers have been completed. More permanent houses are under construction for the colonists who want to work as farmers. Trees have started to grow in the Oxygen Chamber, and oxygen has started to be produced.

Supernova City
John Armstrong has ruled that solar panels are to be placed on the roofs of all buildings. The Space Dock has been completed, and the workers are working on the first star ships in the Imperial Starnavy.

Solar panels have been placed on top of all roof tops. Also, the first star ship, the Crown Jewel, has been produced at the Space Dock. Also, British Londinium sucessfully got the required items to the colony. All known cases of Lunar Sickness have been cured, and agriculture has started to pick up in New Townsend.

Fort Eclypse
A protective hexagon wall is being built around the perimeter, to be topped off with a dome. A colonial militia is being created by John Armstrong to man the base.

A submarine scanning the ocean floor found a ship, a gaping hole in its side, and no signs of being there long. When they approached the bow, they find several wet corpses, with bloody water surrounding them. The submarine crew, thoroughly spooked, returned to shore.

General

Agriculture has really started to pick up in New Townsend, and John Armstrong has declared that by Month Ten, no new oxygen or food will be needed. Study on Lunar Sickness has yielded a way to duplicate the bacteria, named Lunicium, to the point where it can be mass-produced. Also, careful experimentation has found the exact frequency needed to make the bacteria bloat. The information has been sent to the Royale Group* and the Latin Empire.

Fort Eclypse
The colonial militia has been formed, and is taking the place of the workers at Fort Eclypse. The perimeter wall has been formed, and now the Oxygen Chambers are being built.

* British Londinium, this is a possible biolgical weapon, although it's difficult to spread, and requires a continuous sonic frequency.

Month Eight

General

John Armstrong has authorised the beggining of construction on New Winston, where iron ore has been found. Also, John Armstrong has offered the city of Nova Conventus, last to be built, to share between Nova Brittanica and Cortellen.

Barracks are completed, and an armory is being built. Also, the Oxygen Chambers are completed and air is starting to be produced.

New Winston

Houses have started to be built, a location for a mine shaft is being sought out, and the Oxygen Centers are started to be built.

Royale Starfleet engineers continued with their nuclear testing, with the latest bout of nuclear explosions creating a "lunarquake" measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale.

The nation of Cortellen is wiring 160 million to help in the construction of Nova Converntus. We are also using some more money to fund construction of space shuttles.

The Research Centers have concluded that the weapons grade Uranium is an anomoly, but the Uranium will be used to power the starfleet. John Armstrong has also authorised the construction of a Colonial Highway, properly connecting all the cities to each other. On Earth, the Latin Empire is waiting to begin trading with the colony, and send businesses there.

Fort Eclypse

The armory is complete, and now it is being filled with weapons. The militia there is no building a Space Dock to house the Imperial Starfleet.

New Winston

Houses are built for the New Winstonites, and the mine shaft is being dug out. Also the Oxygen Chambers have been built.

The "rocket plane" has been built and has ferried over the Crown Jewels businessmen and tourists. Complete trade has ushered in the time for the Terra Luna colony to become a province.

The Space Dock has been completed, and new Imperial Starnavy ships have begun to be built.

Nova Conventus

All the workers shifted their work towards Nova Conventus, and the city has been completed. John Armstrong has declared that Nova Conventus will be the official space city of the Union of Democratic Nations.
