The re-emergence (return from the dead, FT)

OOC: I just returned from the dead, and am going to try to get back into FT RPing. This is simply to re-introduce my natio and provide an update on whats been happening in recent years.

*Veredia*

Prime Minister Mackenzie stood on the observation deck of the VSS Nike, the immense flagship of the Veredian Space Navy. Weighing in at almost two and a half million tons, she was over two kilometres in length, fielded twenty-fighter squadrons, a battalion of marines, and enough firepower to wipe out a colony.

From the observation deck, the Prime Minister could see all the space that surrounded the homeworld of the Dominion. Countless thousands of ships moved to and from trade stations, refineries, smelters, factories, shipyards, repair yards, resorts, habitats, and other miscellaneous stations. Standing guard over the world were hundreds of defence platforms, and two VSN brigades, more than a thousand warships, and almost a third of the VSN's total strength. It may seem like a bit overkill, but Veredia had learned the hard way through multiple wars with Corpsac what happened when you didn't properly defend your world.

The other fleets were escorting convoys, patrolling the space lanes, patrolling the borders, or defending the other nine colonies of Veredia. Farther out from the planet, stretch the other industry of the system, three other worlds in the system had industry on or around it, as did many of the moons. The asteroid belt that split the line of planets in two was near Veredia, and like always, mining consortiums were busy tearing it apart for raw materials, while the VSN used other sections for gunnery practice.

The commander of the VSN, Fleet Admiral Caparelli, turned to the Prime Minister, "You think we're ready sir?"

"Admiral, it has been many years since we last heard from Corpsac or the AoN. We have rebuilt, we have expanded, we have fortified. We cannot hide forever in isolation. I fully believe we are ready to reach out to our neighbours once more," the Prime Minister replied.

Message:

For many years we have isolated ourselves, we have been devastated, whole worlds annihalated by our enemies, our fleets have been destroyed many times over, and we decided to isolate ourselves. Now, we have rebuilt, we have expanded, and we have come to the conclusion that we can no longer hide ourselves from the rest of the galaxy. We are back.

On the far reaches of Veredian space a single ship apeared, The Veredians knew this ship class well. To well infact, a ship hull that had gone though meny changes from Deep Space sleeper ships to full out warships. The tigerclaw Class destroyer, but this ship wasnt here for war, this ship wasnt here for the Veredian's. Infact this ship didnt even know there Veredian's were around, long thought to have vanished in the vastness of space. Fallen behind the galactic stage, it had been meny decaides since the Veredians had been a bother to the Empire. But that was history, the Empire had fallen, shrunk in size, no longer the vast empire of billions.

This ship, the CFN Raven, was here for it was one of the last strongholds of the old empire. That happened to be on the borders of Veredian space when they were known. the system had been forgotten for meny years, this was hope to be where the homeworld of the Free Colonies was. Chance seemed to have played a different game.

"captain" the com's offer said turning back to face the woman in the chair, "we've picked up a message. A channel wer've not seen befor, Historical banks...oh my...the channel was...or is...used by the Veredian's. A human empire that was subjagated by the Empire...over a Centery ago."

Captain Valkyrie turned her face to the officer, she was the Great Grand daughter of the Grand Admiral Valkyrie. A name the Veredians knew and feared for he was the one that lead meny of the invasion into Veredian space. She knew of the Veredians fro mthe war stories her Grandfather use to tell her. She had blue eyes, the deep blue like that of the blue seas of Earth, her hair was a deep red and she was slim.

"are there any ships with in range?" she asked, she didnt not like the idea of being the one that met the veredians. But fate seemed to have other plans.

"not that we know of mam." the XO replyed.

"good, contact ConFed Naval command inform them of the news. I want scilent running from here on out, i dont want to be detected. Hopefully we can finish our recon work out and slip away unnoticed, i dear say they will know who we are..or were." She said looking down at the floor. By they gods i hope dont find us...tho we are no longer the Dark Empire of CorpSac, we are still of there blood. The confederacy of the Revana Empire will be in grate trubble if these people demand revange.

OOC: That stronghold wouldn't happen to go by the name of Macross, would it?

IC:

*Edges of Veredian space*

A jump point opened, and the long sleek forms of Tasini class frigates emerged. There were four of them in total, and they spread out in their typical patrol pattern. The system they were in was unihabited, but nonetheless had been claimed by Veredia, and there existed a network of deep-space scanners and perimeter arrays that automatically relayed information to the patrol.

"Captain, receiving updates, nothing notable sir" the communications officer on the bridge of the lead ship reported.

"Roger that comms, send word to the other ships, standard sweep. Sooner we get this done, the sooner we get back to Albion," the captain replied as he waited for stellar cartography to sweep their deep space powered sensors and scopes out in case the system's platforms had been wrong.

OOC: nice to see you back, seems times change and so does power hehe. I'd forgotten it was Macross that was the stronghold system to your borders.

IC:

"mam, 4 ships.... 200Km from present postion. Unclear what class. They seem to have not activated weapon systems or defences but are...by the looks of things scout the system out. We're not sure if they have detected us but they will shortly, we're in the open."

"shit do nothing unless they detect us, have weapon systems and shield ready at a moments notice to power up and have fighter's ready to get into defensive postions. By the gods this is not good." she ordered, the crew obeyed and went about things as if it was 2nd nature.

The ship would be an easy find, over 1.7km long the ship wasnt small and even running scilent it wouldnt be long. The ship seemed to drift as the engines slowly powered down, what happened next was unexpected. Suddenly there were 2 bright flashes of light as 2 ships, both tigerclaw class ships, jumped in. without warning they opened fire on the CFN Raven, there Plasmabolters ripping into the armour of the ship, scorched metal was left from the blasts as they layed into the ship.

"Shit, Return fire and rise shield, this is the worst time for us to run into the Free Colonies." Valkyrie Barked. "Main battires target the lead FCN Haven"

The Raven opened fire its partical beams ripping into the Havens armour, barrage of plasma bolters and rail cannon rounds laid into the ship. The ships layed into each other, even tho the Raven was out numbered and out gunned it had the advantage of the hard shields. If the Veredians hadnt noticed them befor they would now, the power surge and the heat.

Weapons fire continued to pass between the 3 ships, the Haven suffering heavy damage as a Partical beam cut though the engineering section of the ship. But at this rate the raven would be doomed, fighters from all 3 ships clashed as dog fighters left right and center started up.

OOC: Oh Macross, how many people have died because of you

IC:

"Contacts! Two jump-points!" The tactical office reported.

"What's the read on them guns?" the Force Commander, Captain Tyrell, asked.

"Unknown, running it through the database...shit, weapons fire! Repeat, weapons fire!" the TO called out.

"All hands, action stations! Set condition one through the force. Comm, get all ships to move into formation Echo-Three. Guns, open up-" Tyrell was interupted as the TO called out a new update.

The ships shields raised up, alongside a host of other defensive systems and weapon ports became active.

"Ships are not firing on us! Repeat, not firing on us...new contact bearing two-seven, by three-eight degrees off the bow sir! She's the same class as the bogeys. Data base reads...Tigerclaws! Confirm, all three vessels match the profile for the Tigerclaw sir. At least structurally,"

Captain Tyrell froze, Tigerclaws hadn't been seen in Veredian space, at least outside a museum, in years. A few had served in the VSN, but they had been Corpsacian vessels. And now here were three of them, firing on each other.

"Comm, open a line to all vessels," Tyrell waited until the comm officer nodded that the line was open, "Attention unknown vessels, you are in violation of sovereign Veredian territory. You have engaged in hostile actions and are now considered enemy combatants. Surrender, and you may save some lives."

"Comm, order Tankersly and Yeltsin to target the far aggressor. We'll take the close one along with Cromarty. Also get off a priority one distress call, we have made contact with outside forces, and have engaged, assistance is requested. Guns, open up with all our batteries on our target, deploy EW drones and tie our point-defence in with the rest of the group. Launch a full salvo, and continue firing as fast as possible. We don't know what kind of point-defence they have, so I want a full third of our salvo to be penetration aids and EW platforms, I want their defences so blinded they can't see a singe missile, much less us."

"Aye, sir. And the third bogey?" the TO asked.

The captain studied his own tactical plot for a second. CIC had updated the two bogeys' status, the lead ship, squawking a transponder that read FCN Haven, was damaged. Apparently the third unknown target was a tougher target than originally thought, apparently managing to hold up to the fire it was taking.

"Hold off on her for now, the other two are the aggressors, under Veredian law, that makes them enemy combatants. And besides, we need to someone to talk to find out what the hell is going on. In fact, make sure SAR is good to go, if the aggressors launch lifepods we should pick them up for interrogation. If the third unknown makes hostile action towards us, we'll turn her to scrap, until then, we can seize her once we've dealt with these two."

The four frigates pulled together into a tight diamond to layer their point-defences and they opened fire on the two new arrivals. Each ship was almost a kilometer in length, and weighed in at over three hundred thousand tons, and were packed with the latest and greatest in Veredian technology. Each ship fielded a pair of dual medium Darion III pulse cannons, a dual light Directed Fusion Cannon, eighteen-missile tubes, and sixteen dual mass driver turrets for anti-fighter and point defence that could fire flak, High-Explosive, or KE-kill rounds. Compact particle-beam clusters and countermissile tubes littered the hull to take down inbound torpedos and missiles, and tethered decoy and EW platforms had already been launched.

The suspected Corpsacian vessels were larger, but no one knew how far their technology had advanced, while military development had been top priority for Veredia, having suffered as much as it had in the numerous conflicts that followed its steps into space.

ITH boardroom, Earth:

“… the signal came from a point in space we did not know contained intelligent life. As far as we knew, there was nobody living there so it was ignored for other areas where customers could be reached easier.”

“I see, and what would you like to do to rectify this little oversight?”

“Please let me play back the message again.”

The Chairman nodded his permission and Don’Sehg activated the playback.

“If you notice, they have been totally isolated for centuries. This means there are open markets just screaming for new merchandise. They said they have rebuilt themselves after many setbacks but I bet if they are going to re-emerge into Galactic Society, they would like to have the connections the ITH could provide. The diplomatic benefits alone are worth signing on, not to mention the influx of new trade into their economy. If we send a rep to them, we could get another nation in the Directory. I think…”

The Chairman cut Don’Sehg off mid sentence.

“I think you have said enough.”

“But Sir, if we..”

“I’ve already made up my mind. You are going to this Veredia to present them with the ITH.”

“M-M-Me? But I was…”

“Are the coordinates included in the message data?”

“Yes.”

“Then why are you still here? Get going before I find someone else that can do your duties…”

Don’Sehg turned and hurried out of the room.

Minutes later, he was in one of the company’s Stiletto Fliers. The sleek silver craft left Earth and streaked out headed for space. A wormhole formed ahead of the shuttle and it slipped into the opening before it closed.

As the autopilot navigated the course, Don’Sehg began to compose his initial message. He only had about ten minutes until the shuttle popped out near the coordinates the transmission originated so he worked fast.

Veredia Space, ten minutes later:

Space collapsed in upon itself and a wormhole formed. The aperture was just large enough for the sleek Stiletto Flier to slip out before it closed again. Immediately a message was broadcast

Greetings Veredia

The Intergalactic Trade Hub has heard your message and would like to offer you a membership in the ITH. If you wish to hear more about it please allow me to approach and meet with you.

Don’Sehg still had his finger on the send button but he was not paying attention to the message he recorded and sent out. He was stunned by the battle scene that was taking place right outside his shuttle. As a matter of fact, it was too close.

One of the shots barely missed the flier. The Rep panicked and sat paralyzed in fear. The AI took over as the ship was rocked by the near hit. The shuttle climbed in a high G roll and sped a safe distance away where it turned and faced the battle.

Don’Sehg, how dare you put me in a situation like that. If you ever do again I will space you on the spot. Do you understand me?

Don’Sehg just continued to sit there staring at the distant flashes a little bit before finally reacting by jumping out of the pilot’s seat.

“Holy shit, that was too damn close.”

It was close? I have black marks on my hull because of you. I have half a mind to bring suit against you for not checking what was outside the wormhole instead of just exiting when we get back to Corporate Headquarters.

OOC:

The shuttle is completely unarmed. It does have navigational shields but nothing that would last more than a couple seconds against even a civilian rated weapon. They are just fast, sleek, and wicked looking.

"Mam, Veredian ships closeing in, the detected us mam" the tactical offcer shouted.

"shit, prepare to bare guns on th..." but she was cut off befor she finished.

"there opening fire on the Free Colonies ships mam" The tactical officer reported.

"thank god for that, Scramble the com systems of the FCN ships open a channel to the Veredian ships." Valkyrie ordered.

"done mam" the com's officer replyed.

"Veredian ships, i am Captain Amila Valkyrie of the Confederacy Navy warship Raven. The ships that have attacked us are part of the Free Colonies, a group that is nothing more then worthless pirates that we have been trying to track down for months, we will explain more once the threat is destroyed. We ask any prisoners you may capture be handed over to us." Valkyrie said.

The FCN haven took a pounding, as it tryed to brake away the salvo from the Veredian ships hammered into her. Round after round striped way the armour until finialy the ship broke in two, a massive fire ball broke out from the ship.

The other ship started to run, laying more fire into the Raven but it was now out gunned. It was at this point the Balrogga ship jumped in, Thinking it was reinforcements from who ever was attacking them they planned to jump away. They opened a jump point, leaving behind the lifeboats and there own fighters, it showed how much human life really ment to them.

"new contact sir, message coming" the message played Valkyrie looked round, "have fighters protect it from whats left of the Free colonies fighters, mop up. have SAR take in them lifeboats, i want to know where there home system is. All weapons stand down, keep gun ports open, we're at first contact status with 2 people."

2 Fighters flew around the Balrogga shuttle, even tho the Balrogga haddnt seen the Corpsacians in meny years the X shiped fighters were a dead give away to who they were. Even they would know who was here, an old friend. That atlest was what Valkyrie hoped.

Our information is currently lacking in how exactly they slipped by our informants, but the information is only a week old. I've attached the original wide-band message along with this one in a separate information burst. I apologize for the breach in normal protocol channels but this was the only way in which I am able to fully inform you of the circumstances.

My superiors are thus far unaware of this information, seeing as I have managed to receive it first. However act quickly. My sources report that the Balrogga Empire may already be acting, our scans report the silhouette of a worm hole and tags marking it as Balroggian.

Edge of space, Dominion of Veredia

Out of hyperspace through the endless lane of stars came three wedge shaped space ships. Their gun-metal gray hulls were shadowed by the bare minimum light that reached them from the systems local star. Lights from view ports lit the darkness of space around them, smaller lights launching from their bays as scout ships were launched.

Captain Lorn Peleus stood on the bridge of his flagship the Victory-class Star Destroyer Hand of Fire. His fellow Victory Star Destroyers were in perfect flanking formation on either side. Peleus made a mental note to congratulate the Emperor's Pride and the Cerberus's captains on their work thus far.

The Helios Expedition Group was one of many scout groups that plied their way across the stars in search of new systems, peoples, and threats that might endanger the integrity of the Galactic Empire or of Thrashia. However it seemed that now Peleus would be used for diplomatic uses.

"Com-Scan reports nothing within a 500 klom radius of us captain," said Lieutenant Croft, Peleus's adjutant and second in command. "But we are picking up signs of other craft further in the system. Our sensors are recalibrating to the local area, but it will take some time."

"Very well Lieutenant," replied Peleus. "Bring us about 20 degrees and set our speed to normal cruise. We're not in a rush to run into something we can't see out here."

"Yes sir."

The crew worked efficiently at their stations and Peleus relaxed to the background hub-bub and noise that a busy and well run ship always had to it. Peleus was 43 years old and by far one of the only Fleet captains left alive that had been present at the Battle of Thrashia Prime. He was a member of the old guard and had been a great advocator of returning things to the way they had been.

However due to political nicety he had been transfered to this dead end assignment of mapping the unknown and establishing contact with other peoples. His plight however was relieved when Emperor Treize himself had promoted him to Group Captain and given him the Hand of Fire. Ever since that day he had been an ardent supporter of his Excellency.

"Very well then...Comms, open up a broad-band channel. I'll announce us if the haven't already spotted us," Peleus said. The comm officer nodded and worked his controls. After a few moments he looked up at the captain and gave the thumbs up sign then smiled when he saw the frown on the captain's face.

"Sorry Grandfather," the comm officer said. He saluted. "Sir, the broad-band is open and waiting."

Peleus nodded in approval at his grandson and went on to his message.

"Attention, this is Captain Lorn Peleus of the Empire of Thrashia. I am trying to make contact with the Dominion of Veredia and its leaders. I say again I am trying to make contact with the Dominion of Veredia. We come in peace and friendship. If anyone is there, please respond."

Now they could only wait.

This was supposed to be a patrol, a simple, uneventful patrol, now he'd gotten into a firefight, had a foreign vessel picking up lifepods from another foreign nation in HIS space, a third nation's ship had jumped in, and now three sizeable warships had just jumped in a couple thousand klicks away from yet a fourth nation, and were comming him to make contact with the government.

"Why did everyone pick today to send warships to our space..." Tyrell muttered under his breath as he punched up the comm line on his console that the comm officer had prepped.

"Confederacy Naval vessel Raven, you will cease SAR operations immediately. Those personnel have engaged in hostile action in Veredian space and are our prisoners, you SAR ships that have already grabbed pods can land in our bay and drop them off. Once the last fighters have been dealth with you will lower shields, fall into formation with us, and transit with us to our local fleet base where you will dock and we can discuss the opening of diplomatic relations. As to whether the prisoners end up in your hands or not is at the government's discretion, but either way, we will interrogate them first. Any hostile action on your part will result in your destruction. The navy thanks you for your co-operation." The captain cut the link and ordered the comm officer to open a line with the ITH shuttle.

"ITH vessel, we are transmitting co-ordinates for our local fleet base, transit there and higher will take you and your offer to the government." Finishing that transmission he opened a new line to the Thrashia vessels that had entered into the system.

"Captain Lord Peleus, welcome to the Dominion of Veredia. My name is Captain Tyrell, commander of this patrol. We will transmit coordinates for the local fleet base and they will be able to process your request. I don't know why you are on a diplomatic mission with a trio of warships, and be aware we have already engaged in combat operations with foreign vessels just before you entered. If you attempt any hostile action, or deviate from our instructions, you will be engaged. These are precautionary measures that apply to any and all foreign military craft, so don't take offence."

Once Tyrell was done transmitting his messages, a series of new jump points opened, but they bore the greenish colouring of the hyperspace level used by the VSN and the battlecruiser VSS Deliverance[ entered in with a full battalion of warships, the quick reaction force sent from VFB Herrington.

"Attention Deliverance, this is Captain Tyrell, patrol commander, we have transmitted orders to all foreign vessels to proceed to Herrington. We just concluded a firefight, and the Confederate vessel Raven is mopping up the last fighters and attempting to grab the life boats. We ordered her to cease SAR while we picked them up and are awaiting confirmation. All pertinent logs are being transmitted to you now, the situation's in your hands now Deliverance, good luck and good riddance."

"Confirmed Tyrell, Deliverance has charge. Thank you and good work."

Now the combined forty ship force of Veredian vessels waited for the foreign ships to confirm their orders.

"Captain Lord Peleus, welcome to the Dominion of Veredia. My name is Captain Tyrell, commander of this patrol. If you attempt any hostile action, or deviate from our instructions, you will be engaged. These are precautionary measures that apply to any and all foreign military craft, so don't take offence."

The reply was more than Captain Peleus had expected but then he knew better than to try second-guessing things, it often led to a bad end. Peleus turned to his adjutant and brought up the comm for the Emperor's Pride.

"Captain Dorja, you are to return to our outpost station and report back to Fleet Command. Inform them that we have reached the territory of the Dominion of Veredia and are beginning communication relays. Understood?" Peleus asked the 1/6th sized holo figure of Captain Dorja.

"Yes sir, Captain," said Dorja. "Emperor's Hand out."

The Emperor's Hand broke off from the formation and spent ten minutes recalculating the jump to hyperspace. By the time Peleus was preparing to respond to the Veredian Captain, they had blasted into lightspeed and were gone.

Lieutenant Croft signaled Peleus, telling him that another comm link was open to the recently discovered Captain Tyrell. Peleus cleared his throat and put his hands behind his back.

"Captain Tyrell of Veredia, we've received your coordinates and will arrive at that location. We have only peaceful intentions and care not to bring any state of conflict between either of us. However if you wish assistance in ejecting any other foreign ships from your space, my ships are more than willing to help. However if not then we will withdraw to your local fleet base.

Also, we are in warships because we did not know what to expect when we arrived here. This is unknown territory for us and we did not know if we would run into any enemies. I apologize if we startled you. Peleus out."

In the background the voice from the initial message can be heard. "OhshitOhshitOhshit..."

"I had to assume control of the vessel to enact emergency maneuvering. We will comply immediately with your request."

The Stiletto Flier accellerated and engaged in evasive maneuvers involving several high G turns trying to avoid the stray lasers and slugs. After a few near hits, the unarmed shuttle made it to the safety of their hosts.

"they want us to what?" Amila snaped. "like hell we will...." at that moment the Tactical officer interupted her.

"mam we have 3 Contacts moveing in from behind, Victory-class Star Destroyer.....mam....mutiply jump points opening...count....40 ships......" The tactical officer seemed shocked as the colour from his face drained.

"i knew we had history with the Veredians but this is just silly......Pull what SAR we have out there in, bring the Lifeboats they have onbard our ship. pull the fighters back and drop the shields. Whats the Status of our jump drives?" Amila asked.

"they took some real damage, we can just make it to the Veredian base but thats pushing it. Its going to take a day to reach it, thats the best we can down" The Helm replyed.

"Attention all Personel, we will be soon make a jump to a Alien system. Once we dock with the Veredian station all personal are to be at high alert, All marines suit up and bear arms." Her voice boomed over the entire ship, "Report to your Regimental Commanders for your orders"

She looked up at the mass of Veredian ships on the tactical display screen in her chair. shit if i knew they were going to give us a full welcoming party i might have greeted them better.

"open a channel to the lead Veredian ship." she said after hearing the message they had recived, Cocky lil' **** she thought.

"done mam"

"Veredian Naval Patrol, orders are confrimed, tho you can pick up the rest of the lifeboats but we're keeping who we have. Our orders are to find the Free Colonies stronghold and thats what we will done, you can blow my ship into dust for all i care i will not disobay my orders. You will have to send us the Cords co-ordinates, our jump drives have taken alot of damage and a jump that would most likely take us a few minutes is going to take us a day to reach." she spoke softly but firm, "i notice your useing an old form of Hyperspace Jumpdrives.....interesting.....Last time i saw one of them was in the Confederacy Museum."

The Ion engines of the Raven kicked in, the battle scared hull of the ship moved into formation of the Lead ship of the Veredian fleet. waiting was the game now.

ooc: Mind if I join in? Odd that we've not met...

Ic: The Kazeci government was getting desperate. They had only weeks before their soul was effectively sold to the Republic. It was a choice of free will that brought them to it, but a reluctant one. Any chance to find other allies was worth exploring. These fears caused Kazecistan to send its military far and wide in search of nations. One such expedition was about to find Veredia...

"Receiving a general transmission. It's an emergence announcement."
"Jumping to source coordinates."

They blinked into existence and began to scan, loudly announcing their presence with energy emissions. It would be hard to miss their arrival.

The bridge was a massive cavity within the body of the cruiser. Each deck was suspended from the ceiling and transparent so that one could see to the floors below and above. As the decks stacked, they created a floating column in the center of the room, attached to the surrounding catwalks by sparse bridges. Upon the decks was the remarkable thing, though. Hundreds of people at work stations, doing their duties and functioning together by strict protocol yet with a light and relaxed atmosphere. They operated flawlessly in the absence of their commander, who, until now, had been resting. Each knew exactly what to do right now- life was rather monotonous.
"Did I hear there might be some excitement soon?"
"Yes, Commander Ferzly Sir! We were actually contacted this time. Some nation is revealing itself to the galaxy." Replied the first person on his right as he passed.
"We're at the coordinates now." Said the Nav officer as he passed, his voice just above the usual low rumble of the bridge crew.
"Very well, have we said hello?"
"You just did." the comms officer answered.
"Really? You can dig my voice and image out of the archives and impersonate a superior authority to an alien race during first contact at will? Since when was that in Kazeci law?"
"It isn't sir." he responded with a smirk.
"Good. The day that starts happening is the day you don't need me any more..."
An anonymous voice called out behind them, "We need you?" Everyone laughed.

Dominion of Veredia: we have come in the name of the Second Galactic Dominion of Kazecistan in response to your announcement and seek diplomacy. Will you entertain us?
