Island Hopping (AMW only)
Andaman and Nicobar

A Series of Unfortunate Events
* Andaman and Nicobar settled by peoples from Africa and Asia
* Walmingtonians arrive
* Indians (including Geletians) brought to the islands as prisoners of the Walmingtonian authority, usually after mutinies, and are forced to build limited infrastructure.
* Native populations hurt by disease and colonial expansion (some are probably shot for sport by Roycelandian tourists).
* Indian independence gives the Nicobars to the Principality while Andaman falls under a local Sultan.
* Communist revolution in India forces Llewellyn to Victoria Salvadoria, and local officials in the Nicobars find themselves largely abandoned by a Prince with other things on his mind.
* Reunification of South India and Victoria Salvadoria forces Llewllyn to flee for the Nicobars. The Prince remains de jure ruler of Nicobar, VS, and South India, but billionaire local official Eustace F. Brown holds de facto control of Nicobari infrastructure and services.
* Nicobarese Marines attempt to sieze the Lakshadweep (Laccadive, Parmis) Archipelago before Soviet control is established, but the Gelert Sentinels arrive to rout the over-ambitious deployment. The Brown-controlled media blames Llewellyn for the fate of several hundred Marines, and Eustace uses the fiasco to see himself elected Nicobar's first President. Llewellyn continues to maintain a stately home in the islands and begins to spend more time in Tulgary.
* Brown's forces enter the Andamans after Liberation buys several islands from the unpopular Sultan and his bankrupt administration. The Sultan's officers fail to oppose a Nicobarese take-over and Brown declares the Incorporated States. (Middle class) Andamanese revel in Brownite capitalism and the demise of an inept Sultan.
* The Coral Sea Incident brings Soviet warships close to an exposed and frightened Liberation. Brown reacts by spending heavily from the treasury and his own fortune to bring in eight Chinese-made fighter jets and establish a national air force. The President then agrees to the establishment of a Quinntonian military base in the Incorporation.
* Islamist radicals from Al Khals and elsewhere begin to take refuge in lawless North Great Andaman, fostering extremism in the former Sultanate now seen as an inferior partner to the Nicobars.
* Nicobarese Marines land on North Sentinel Island in an attempt to pacify ungovernable natives. Casualties are taken in another bungled operation, and armed Nicobarese citizens take revenge on (often unrelated) aboriginal communities in the main islands.
* Armed militias conduct vigilante actions and often target Hindus -long residents of the lower classes- and sometimes Muslims as well as aboriginals.
* White-dominated police turn a blind eye to race crimes and fudge several high-profile murder investigations involving non-white/Christian victims.
* Muslims look to radical foreigners for protection, Hindus demonstrate for INU membership (leading to unsucessful communist 'witch-hunts'), and bands of native warriors emerge from the forests to avenge militia crimes (killing several people).
* National emergency is declared as government forces try to track-down Islamic radicals in the north and militias venture into the forests in search of native villages, which in turn send raiding parties to ambush travellers and workers on the forest roads.
* Today
That's the set-up, and, tomorrow, the play.

(OOC: They'd inflate our population by about 10%, I think. Erm... Sssugar!)
"Captain! Captain! Is it true that the President has been arr_"
"Are you taking orders from Princess Mor_"
"Can we hear from the commander of the US ba_"
"Ladies! Gentlemen! Please! The situation is all in hand!"
It finally happened. Brown's billions made him untouchable in under-attended election after under-attended election, but he now realised that voter apathy really was an invention of his media empire. People cared, they just didn't think that he could be voted out.
So, once Captain Roscoe, commander of the Nicobarese Marines, was on-board with it, nobody was going to oppose a coup supported by four-thousand armed troops.
Eustace F.Brown was in detention at a wing of Cellular Jail still visibly sponsored by his own soft drinks company and plastered with election campaign images bearing his bald-headed, black-suited likeness.
Complicated alliances were revealing themselves.
Roscoe, Captain of the Marines. Morgana, Llewellyn's widow. The Smithian economists Samuel Reubens and Johnathen Tendulkar. The Jarawa, Onge, and Shompen peoples.
Now Captain Roscoe would command the combined defence forces. Morgana was Empress of India (sort of). Reubens and Tendulkar would be Chancellor and Economics Policy Advisor. The native communities of the interior forsts and out-lying islands would have special status and autonomy.
"And, my appointment for the new post of Prime Minister, head of the Most Respectable Government of Her Imperial Highness..." Roscoe said, introducing a pale, tubby figure that sent journos' jaws dropping.
"I say! Jolly good day to become Prime Minister, again, what? Ripping good weather! It was positively ghastly last time a good queen asked me to form a parliament, mh!"
"...will...do...Mr.Prime...Minister...should the people of...the Incorporation(?)...should we...read anything into...your waistcoat?"
"Baha! Jolly good question! But I keep most of my interesting memoirs under my (top) hat, old boy!"
In his cell, Brown almost passed out. "Oh, that is BULL..!"

Brownsheviks: The Majority Party in Nicobarese Politics subtitled And How Fixing Became a Capitalist Trait [first edition subtitle specified Price Fixing, reprints included notes criticising electoral practice since the first edition] in one hand, top hat in the other, Imperial India's Prime Minister rallied the crowd before him.
Just as, during the nineties, he had done upon another island group.
Except this one was a lot warmer, a lot smaller, and every bit as vulnerable.
"...after deepest and most severe discourse between myself and Her Most Imperial Majesty, I am now tasked with the historic duty of forewarning the people of the Andaman and Nicobar islands of a great change.
"While it may mean little to our aboriginal, Hindu, and Muslim brethren throughout the nation, I know that many of you would be otherwise alarmed. But I ask you to search your God-given souls as you witness Her Majesty's ceremony and the opening of the Anglican Church of Imperial India. The time has quite clearly come for such a change. As we have brought-down the corrupt democratic sham, so too must we bravely sever our ties to a Papacy in which the wanton murder of Princes goes uncriticised.
"The death of noble Llewellyn at the hands of the Kingdom of France, though a sin and an affront to heaven itself, has still to this day drawn no criticism from Rome. There is no conceivable way by which the Indian Crown may continue its relationship with the Catholic church, and so we have little choice but to accept Princess Morgana, Empress of India, as the only pure and devout candidate for mortal head of our faith.
"I thank you, citizens of India, and while wishing most keenly for reconciliation between our varied and bright cultures, I ask you all, please, to grant a popular approval to my sacred royal mandate to lead you. Vote yes on the referendum. I assure you, today your vote will count!"
As the English accent cut out a much differently-voiced Sir Dallas of Jog Falls asked the people to applaud the arrival of Princess Morgana, widow of Llewellyn and Empress of India, and her infant children Prince Maelgwyn and Princess Modlen, last in the line, who never laid eyes on their late father.
As Eustace Brown seethes in Cellular Jail, his fortune passed to Princess Morgana, he can but beat the walls as the man who took his political power sets about dismantling Brownite corporate capitalism and rebuilding something closer to that which the blotchy ex-patriot attempted in his Britannic homeland. At least he doesn't look quite so good in a Nicobarese-flagged waistcoat as he did in the crosses of the Union Flag...

The Bay of Bengal
Let it never be said that Unioners do not look out for their countrymen. Calls for Union membership coming out of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands do not, then, go un-heeded. Neither does news of repression carried out by the government of Sir Dallas upon the indigenous peoples and Muslims. Certainly it makes Hindustanis furious to see anyone treated in such a fashion, especially their own people, so it should not surprise anyone in Port Blair that Mumbai has resolved to do something about it.
Of course, with a full-fledged world war brewing off in Africa, Mumbai can't do very much about it. Still, an Indian Navy flotilla makes for the ISAN at a stately ten knots. The auxiliary troop transport INS(A) Dapper is by far the largest ship in the formation, and she is escorted by the submarine chaser Rover and the patrol boats Jabalpur and Ubaro. INS Trincomalee, a survey ship, is also assigned to the flotilla, as a transport and a helicopter carrier.
Embarked aboard the Hindustani warships is hastily-assembled No.6 Marine Commando, led by the charismatic, heavily-decorated Colonel Arun Singh, a career Marine who went ashore during several of the IN's raids on Victoria & Salvador, and who once participated in an attack on Cellular Jail itself. His is not a very large force. It counts in the region of 400 men altogether, including his infantry companies, his sappers, and his signalers, but makes up for this in large part through a very high standard of training and experience. And not to mention, the marine commandos are packing twice the amount of section-level firepower as is the norm, and some sections even have three Bren guns. But carried aboard Dapper are far more rifles than No.6 Commando could ever use. They are mostly 7.62x51mm weapons; SLRs once used by the INA, Bren guns, bolt-action 2A1 rifles, even a few GPMGs, but a fair few Sten guns are present as well, the staple firearm of irregulars and guerrillas on the Indian Subcontinent.
Though No.6 Commando and its leader are quite eager to engage the Nicobarese Marines in battle, it is thought that the cause of the indigenous and Indian Nicobarese would be best served if the oppressed themselves had a hand in their liberation. Hindustan's first priority, then, is to land on Car Nicobar, and rout the government forces there.

Vice-Admiral William Hutt had finally been ordered home, but he would be moving in the same course out of hostile waters as he had come in, so he would briefly visit the newly troubled A&N Island chain. The entirety of the committed fleet, justly prepared to duel the Soviets, were now on their way to see just what was going on in A&N. The small Quinntonian military base on the main island, just outside the capital city, had been attempting to get the facts straight and hand out humanitarian aid, if needed, but were as confused as anyone else. Finally, the ambassador, a Rev. Vic Esperanza, decided to make contact with Bull and see if there was any legitimacy to his reign, so that the USQ could see which government they would recognize.
USQ Military Base
Air base for 30 F/A-18s, as well a 12 Apache Attack Helicopters plus some transport and medivac helicopters and a couple of patrol and training planes.
A Contingent of maybe two dozen small armed patrol boats. Mostly Coast Guard type- stuff.
About 150 Quinntonian Marines, plus maybe 100 regular Army.
About 2,000 support personal, plus navy and air force servicemen (400).
WWJD
Amen.
