I was thinking that a new Mafia Rp would be cool, we could either have it in the 30's or modern day.

Anyone else intrested in this idea?

Im thinkin somthin like...five familys, a large area split up between them about the size of NY or Chicago....?

I had a mafia RP awhile ago, but it died after I had to stop posting due to schoolwork and such. I was thinking of reviving it in another form. Perhaps we could combine the two ideas, and work from there.

It was set right in 1930, I believe. I had a map of the city divided into the various family turfs, as well, which we could reuse. I'll post the link to the old idea thread here, if you're interested. Sounds like an awesome idea.

The Size of New York or Chicago? The Godfather took place in New York. Al Capone lived in Chicago....

I've watched/played The Godfather enough to know what you want. Although the Godfather takes place in 1940s and 50s, oh well.

If we wanted to keep the RP historically accurate, the five families controlled New York, after the Castellamarse war. They were more in line with the old country, probably because Charles 'Lucky' Luciano was deported to Sicily. He was the one that instigated and helped resolve the Castellamarse war, and in his time in Sicily, he played a role in managing affairs in New York until his death. The families of New York were big on having only Sicilians in their gangs, while the Chicago Outfit, started effectively by Capone (A Neapolitan, not Sicilian) integrated the Irish, the Blacks and the Puerto Ricans, much to the dismay of the New York families. The Chicago Outfit always tended to distance itself from its New York Counterparts. I think having a mix of the two would be interesting.

I could be a head of one of the Families. If I am, I would probably base it off the Cuneo or Corleone from the Godfather.

We could make up our own familys and position them on a map/area of our choosing...

You two can controll familys, i will be aswell....

Name: Paulie Baucina (Real Name Paolo Monteverde)
Assets: Dockworkers Union (or turf around ports), One, maybe two freight companies, warehouses. Overseas assets
Business: Smuggling, primarily. Also does rumrunning (basically smuggling also), extortion, prostitution, and, silently of course, drugs. Extorts businesses and blackmails politicians into awarding his company preferential transport contracts. Was into contract killing, but is looking into dropping it.
Bio: Was born in Lisbon, Portugal and began his career as a small time smuggler, moving pelts from Romania, opium through Turkey and diamonds from Africa. Was famous as a crack shot and enjoyed hunting, but was captured by rivals and had his index finger cut off. Despite this, he was still an excellent marksman and was inspired to kill his competition off. He began to expand his empire, however he attracted too much attention and moved to Sicily, where he adapted his Sicilian name (for the town he spent his first night in)and did work for the Corleonesi. After an officials from Rome who was causing problems for the local Don, he received a healthy financial backing and relocated to America.

I wish to partake in this RP, but I prefer if we kept it to a fictional city, with 5 equal families.

That way no one person can take an immediate advantage, or use hindsight.

Yes, we need a fictional map...pretty near equal familys in a struggle to get to the top....

Assets: Mom and Pop shops in the Middle and Lower Class Districts. A few Warehouses and one Hotel.
Business: Gun Running, Extortion, Blackmail, Running Illegal Casinos. Racketeering.
Bio: Grew up in the run-down part of town. He grew up learning to fend for himself and keep those in power on your side. Throughout his teen years he basically tried to play it straight. He worked for a business and helped them out at home when he had time. But in time he fell in with the bad crowd when he found out it was worth more to extort the business then work for them. When the Selvo family found out, they put a hit on him. But instead of killing him the Assassin instead recruited Monty into the Family. Within a few years, Monty rose quickly in the family

I will make a profile when I am formaly accepted into the rp.

I think we need to expand this into a fictional 'state' with 5 main cities.

At the same time we'll need someone to act as the local authorities and the state troopers trying to bust them.

Each family gets control of a city and each city has a way out of the state, either via water, sea or air that also smuggles in what they need.

I mean like lets say the Northeast City has no road connection going out of state that doesn't infringe on another gang's territory. So they have to smuggle everything by air.

Though we should make this like a video game, each side balanced. But there are a significant amount of leftover WWI biplanes left. If someone has the cojones to be busted almost as soon as he lands by the cops they can bomb someone.

Hope I'm not too late to sign up. I'd like to take part, sounds fun. I may not be the head of a family, maybe law and order.

as a Naval pilot myself I have a bit of trivia on avionics evolution... I'd like to throw out the name "Mr. Mulligan" It's the name of a small craft, not a lot of cargo room but fast as hell and commercially cheep for it's pre-depression time.

Assets: One hotel, two cafe's, Italian food joint, wharehouses, whorehouse
Business: Gun Running, Extortion, Rum/Wiskey running, prostitution, black mail, illegal gambling
Bio: Grew up in a hard neibourhood with nothing, as an immigrant just as everyone else who lived in the area. Grew up boxing for cash at the local boxing club against others trying to put food on his familys table, Vincenzo never stole from anyone or hurt anyone that didn't have it comming to them.

He was a dreamer from a young age, wanted everything America had to offer and more, the money, the power, the respect, the loyalty......motivation was the key to it all and Vincenzo had lots of that, a will of iron. As the years past Librizzi did deeds for many people helping them out with their problems and they began to respect him, others didn't agree so they protested with violence, those loyal friends of Vincenzo stood by his side......

Over time, the Librizzi family was formed into a semi-powerful mafia family on the rise.

If there's still space in here, I'd like to put forward the Visconti family. I'll go into a full profile if I'm taken in by the founder here, preferably after the others have put something down so I can avoid being a carbon copy.

Character Name: Alexander Arcturus
Assets: 3 speakeasys, 2 warehouses, 2 whorehouses, an airfield, and a Jewish restaurant in Little Odessa.
Business: Gun-running, illegal liquor, prostitution, illegal gambling

A Jew escaping persecution in his native Ukraine, he came to the country with nothing, not even his secret wife and son. He left without them to spare them the shame of being found out to have Jewish blood in them.

He made friends in Little Odessa and found work in illegal gambling. He participated in a coup of the current leadership but found he was the only high level member of the conspiracy alive and quickly ascended to the king of a modest empire. He uses a group of Orthodox Jewish students traveling to Palestine and Europe to smuggle contraband into the country knowing no one would search them.

Unbeknownest to him his family has been sent to a labor camp in the North of a land called 'Leafanistan'. His son's son will grow up to be the leader and savior of his adopted nation.

Family: Law Enforcement
Character Name: Julian Battaglia
Assets: Modest appartment, Cadillac Roadster
Business: Keeping the criminals in check, sometimes taking the law into his own hands even if that means putting his hands in moonshine and prostitution.
Bio: His father was Chief of Police, a good cop by all standards, untill he got shot and killed when he walked in on a burglary in progress. His father lived in a different time, he tells himself, different laws, different law breakers. What difference does it make if he arrests these thugs. Their familial bosses will bail them out and they'll be back on the streets that night. Besides, everybody has to tighten their belt a bit lately. With the city cutting his pay, he might as well partake in what he comes across in the line of business. He lives in a small appartment, not cramped, but small, one bedroom, with his girlfriend Dawn (an uneducated cigarette girl working in night clubs downtown, made vulnerable by her ignorance and loved for it). He spent most of his life's savings on his car, a 1930 Cadillac Roadster, and a collection of personal firearms, both of which he maintains with a passion.

Family name: Visconti Family.

Character name: Galeazzo Visconti.

Assets: four large warehouses by docks, three underground casinos and takes from several half-controlled similar outfits, a small tavern in Little Italy, a single brothel that masquerades as a dance hall.

Business: protection rackets, illegal gambling, limited bootlegging and prostitution.

Galeazzo has no hard-scrabble past. He is Don, as he was intended to be. The eldest son of a moderately successful mafia chieftan, he was well taught by his father and those around him.

Still, there was no nepotism here: Galeazzo earned his place. He gained the respect of the family by capably running two of the casino joints and brutally putting down a revolt within the family. A breakaway section of the took advantage of Visconti seniors failing health, declaring independance when the old man was hospitalized. They were crushed by a series of daring murders as the heir took over. When his father succumbed to his final stroke, Galeazzo was at his side-the thirty year old displays the same loyalty that he demands from his followers.

A quick look over the territory shows that the North End may become a war zone. With two, possibly three, families moving to expand in that direction.

I like my territory because, wether it was intention or not, I have nominal control over a good central trade area. Anything that goes across the river will almost have to go through Selvo Territory.
