Garglplek Exploration Ship

Garglplek

An exploration ship cruised through deep space. It wasn't going very fast, since its goal was to map the star systes, collect information on other planets and, if possible, make contact with other species.

It was an unusual-looking ship. The majority conisted of a slightly flattened ovalloid, about 150 metres in length with seven small engines arranged in a ring at the back. There were two turret guns at the top, but otherwise it seemed unarmed.

The ship was called the Plekulan. Its captain, Flarg Jel, third teir, for want of a better word, sat in his, for want of a better word, chair and sighed. He was bored. Nothing was happening.

IC:

It sat there in the dark. Once, its hull was painted red. Now, it was painted black. Once, it contained a species known for their hospitality. Now, they were something diffrent.

The Aquamarinian Octopus ship whirred to life.

An alien ship moved in the darkness of space.

The darkness, their rulers owned the darkness. It was their dominion, their domain, and everywhere that the darkness touched, so they owned.

This new civilization, they must be, properly greeted.

The ship powered up, and physicly blocked the path of the other ship.

"This is the Ri-an Warship Shadowstalker. Identify yourselves, and your reason for being near SR 386." An angry voice yelled over the communications.

Flarg was quite taken aback by the voice shouting at him through the shortwave. He didn't understand the language, but it was clearly angry about something.

Highly miffed, he contacted the unknwon speaker telepathically.

If you wish to communicate, I suggest you either learn our language or learn to mindspeak, he said coldly Furthermore, if you wish to throw a tantrum, please have the common courtesy to explain your rasons for this abrupt rudeness.

He sat back contracted his long tongue, the Gargl equivalent to smirking in a self-satisfied way. He had mindspoken openly, so everyone on the bridge had heard him telling off these rude aliens.

How little Flarg knew, of Aquamarinian Psionic abilities.

Flarg got the unpleasant experience of nearly 2 billion voices speaking to him at once.

"You entered our territory unannounced. You explain yourself first."

Then, Flarg got the sensation of one octopus smacking another.

"My overzealous associate is correct. Though completly dead and uninhabitable by normal folk, SR 386 is Ri-anese territory. He's just the overgeneral and always gets a tad trigger happy at unexpected surprises, like you.

Introductions could be a bit troublesome though, Call me King Edward the Fair. Since you can communicate psionicly, we're speaking to you through the massive intergalactic psion network otherwise known as The Aquamarinian Hive-mind.
My associate who yelled at you is called Mark the Angry, and you should feel honored, that was quite possibly the nicest greeting he's ever given." Said Edward the Fair.

Flarg was pleasently surprised when the creature responded in mindspeak. He didn't feel that all the dramatics were necessary, however. Probably an attempt to scare him. A valiant attempt, but very little could penetrate the mighty Gargl shield of arrogance and self-importance.

Most honourable greetings to you, Edward the Fair. You may call me Captain Flarg Jel. This is the Plekulan, an exploration ship from the Holy Empire of Garglplek. We carry thiry-seven Gargl and four Grek. Our mision is to gather data on distant regions of space, such as this one. If you wish people to stay out of what you refer to as 'your' space, it would be advisable to install some sort of marker, such as a satelite with an automated message in order to stop the mistake happening in the future.

"That costs money. This couse of action proposed is competly unacceptable." a diffent voice said irritated.

"quite you." Edward said.

"Anyways, if its information you want, well, we could help you out." a female voice said.

Then you can hardly complain of ships intruding on your space, he finished coolly Anyway, yes, any information you can give us would be very much appreciated. We have several samples of minerals from our home planet, as well as Gargl technology to offer you in return. And, of course, the four Greb if you should want any of them.

"What is a grek?" inquired another voice.

"Well, we have trouble transmitting data accross great dimensional boundries. We'll come there." Edward said.

OOC: Goin to bed, cya tomorrow. Rather, since it just passed midnight here, cya later today.

IC: Dead useful creatures, he replied jovially Tireless workers, can be taught to do just about anything, learn commands exceptionally fast.

"Ahh, Necromancy."

It took Flarg a few minuts to realize what he was talking about an almost slapped himself when he saw what a stupid linguitsic blunder he had made.

No, no, no, not literally dead. It's a suprlative, like 'very'. Very useful creatures.

"Oh, undead servants are also useful, for the record."

A gigantic insanely huge ship burst into space from an anomaly that looked like a whirlpool.

The ship resembled the legendary sea fiend Jormangundr, the World snake, from norse mythology. It was very, very big too. And strong.

"Sorry, we're fresh put out of peaceful entrances. we're chock full of threatening entrances though." said edward with a touch of sarcasim.

The mouth of the ship opened wide, the fangs sliding up over a weapons grid. In between weapon grids was a docking bay.

"care to dock so we can bring over the map archives? unless you'd rather let us dock." edward said.

"Um, I think we're too big to come over, you see, the royal species of aquamarinian tower at 15 feet. there's only five of us, but if even one were to come over, it would be instant overcrowding. Why don't you come on over?" Queen lucy asked.

Gladly.

Flarg ordered the helmsgargl forward and entered the outh of the great serpent, which, having never seen such a creature, didn't remind him of anything in particular.

The mouth closed on the ship, but did not damage it.

Once through the airlocks, Flarg would find himself face to face with a wall of water, Psionicly held in place.

"Enter, Air will surround you and keep you dry. You breath air, we breath water."

Flarg exited the ship along with four other Gargl.
They resembled nothing more than large, fleshy orbs about six feet in diamter with a gaping tooth-lined hole and long, blue tongue in the front. There was a ring of transparent, jelly-like substance near the top, which may have been some sort of eye. The whole body was balanced on a mass of long, thin tentacles which allowed the creatures to move with a motion halfway between ambling and slithering.
The four who flanked Flarg several different pieces of machinery each strapped to various tentacles which they held in front of them.
In addition to the Gargl, there was a female humanoid creature with brownish-green skin and four arms who walked slightly hunched over. Her face was flat with a small nose, thin lips, and crimson eyes the same colour as her shoulder-length hair. She wore a black apron-like garment that was tied at the back and a metal collar. She seemed very nervous and contantly glanced in every direction.

Actually, Flarg said the filtration systems in our throats which allow us to extract only what we need from the atmosphere also allow us to breathe underwater.

"That is good to know. A useful ability to have." said edward.

A red line appeared in their minds on the floor.

"Follow the red line."

The red line ran a quarter of the way through the ship, and turned into a cargo bay.

Inside the cargo bay, sat a Giant Octopus. It was white, fifteen feet tall, and its tenticles reached very far.

It had two eyes close to the top of its head, and a mouth just above its tenticles.

Not to far away was a pink octopus that appeared much the same.

All around them were smaller octopi creatures that were only 6 feet tall.

the white one raised a tenticle and slapped it back down.

"I am king edward the fair, one of the five rulers of Aquamarinain kind, servant of The Mad God Kajeenith. This lovely pink creature next to me is Queen Lucy the amorous, my Wife." said Edward.

Edward picked up a rather large bulky box.

"This is the Archive, it is full of maps and starcharts of various planets and worlds and the space around them, including some information on them. It also includes political maps. Be careful out there." Lucy said.

Flarg swum surprisingly gracefully over to King Edward and respectfully licked his forehead.

We thank you kindly for these maps. In return, we offer you these items: three handheld fabbers, which can make just about any item from raw matierals, a grebnak of each aluminium, calcite, and squorntium, and a highly useful greb.

He laid each treasure in front of the two royal octopi as he spoke, gesturing to the greb, who was hanging back, fear and confusion all over her flat face.

He didn't think she'd actually be very much use to these people, since he was fairly certain he couldn't swim and could only breathe because of the portable air bubble they had proivided. He was banking on them liking the fabbers. Little did he know that it was th squorntium that was of real value. Although it was abundance on Garglplek, lsewhere in the galaxy, there was barely twenty tons (or five thousand grebnaks).

"Treasure should not remain on a ship like this. We will send them to our brethren The Ministry of Shadow, in the Shadowplane." Edward said. Of all the royal octopi, Edward was the most level headed and the best spokesthing for Ri-an.

Light vanished for a moment, and they were all gone, including the Greb.

"Don't worry, not all of our nation is water-based, he will be sent to the dry side, where he will be more comfortable. He may even serve in the palace since he is one of a kind." Edward said.

"While we're here, why not set up trade routes? I mean, what's the point of establishing contact with the outside world if you don't look into trading and other diplomatic matters?" Edward said.
