A Socialist Incursion (Open, MT)

Sovistan

The commercial transport wallowed in the Clandonian dock. It was officially carrying a shipment of lead, under the cover of THE fake Sovistani mining company "Weldent Corp.". Unknown to the customs officers, however, Weldent haden't existed for more than a few months- it was created solely as a cover for this operation by the Sovistan government, who knew any ships associated with them wouldn't be allowed anywhere near a Clandonian dock.

It was late at night when the transport began unloading some of its cargo onto the dock, and a few lorries pulled up. Several men got out of the trucks- they came from a small socialist movement that had been brewing in Clandonia Prime for several months now. They approached the foreman in charge of the dock workers.
"PRS Protector?" One of them asked. The foreman grinned.
"You'd be our contacts then. This is the gear." He gestured towards the crates.
"How much did you get us?"
"A good few thousand. See for yourself!" The foreman opened the case of the nearest crate, revealing tighly packed AK47s and PKs. "The other crates have ammunition in them, mostly. We'll start packing them onto your trucks."
"And we can rely on your support once the revolution begins?" Demanded one of the Clandonians.
"You know the agreement. If you succeed in sparking a rebellion, we'll send in our forces to aid you. Just make sure you don't screw this up."
Within a few hours, the trucks had loaded up and left, leaving the Weldent ship at the dock.

----

A week later, and Premier Siudzin got the news. The Sovistan-funded rebellion had begun- and also ended. According to reports, they had rushed the operation, and entered combat without enough of the public support they needed. As a result, the Clandonian military had swiftly and brutally dealt with it, ending any hope of a socialist revolution.
"Will they be able to link their weapons back to us?" He asked an aide.
"Almost certainly, sir. The Weldent corporation won't stand up to close scrutiny, they'll soon find out we were behind it." Siudzin sighed.
"Idiots. Those bloody idiots, after we gave them all the advice they needed they make a mess of the whole damn thing." He sat in silence for a moment. "Put the military on full alert, and reinforce the coastline defences. We probably don't have long."

The socialist faction of the Clandonian Labour Movement had tried to take over durring the civil unrest caused durring the death of Lord Governer Lancer. Durring this time they had fought various factions from the fascist and nationalist movement, as peace was forced into place by the military it was forgotten until the investigations showed some startling evidence. Weapons and ammo was of origin not from Clandonia Prime, a small nation of Sovistan marked rounds and assault rifles.

On Friday evening a memo was passed from the Interior Ministry to the Ministry of Defence and Joint Inteligence committee showing the findings. In a debate of the closed Joint Party Military Council it was decided by that military action must be taken, there was an evident socialist threat, it grew daily around the world and Clandonia did not want it.

It was time for war against The People's Republic of Sovistan...

---------------------------------------------------

The Ministry of Defence contacted Lord Lt. Commander Sir Victor, he was on patrol with his fleet in the North Atlantic. The orders were swift, proceed to Sovistani waters and await further instructions. At the same time Adminral Wolftiz's Fleet was ordered from up in the Artic Ocean to proceed to designated co-ordiantes, the plan was to bomb the hell of out of the Sovistanis and then proceed with a standard Clandonian naval landing. Nimrod MR4's took off from Danskeran to begin naval and counter-naval warfare opperations, this was creeping right up into Nova Europa possibly casuing full out war with the other socialist nations if it was seen as an attack on Socialism at an international level all hell would break loose.

From the airbases of Kirkland and Clanon City the bomber wings of 22, 23, 24, 25 Squadron set in their B-2 formations, a total of 400 bombers intended to pound the Sovistans with a sustained bombing campaign until inteligence suggest their military was incapable of even possibly showing resistance to the might of the Clandonian military.

"Massive military movements on the part of Clandonia Prime, and they seem to be concentrated in this area," the official explained, using his lazer pointer to indicate the Clandonian movements on the map.

"What is that nation?"

"Um," the official began, rifling through his papers, "That would be Sovistan."

"It is quite apparent that the Clandonians have some sort of issue with this Sovietstan, and I would like to know what before we decide on our course of action."

They were stupid enough to send marked rifles & ammo?

Wow, even the weapons I am supplying BC's CWP are not marked, and, in fact, dont even have a serial number.

The coastal defences where being strengthened hastily- tank traps and land mines were being set up on the beaches, and PKM machineguns mounted in the thin line of trenches that protected the coastline. The infrequent pillboxes were being stocked with RPGs, and behind the lines soldiers were gathering, ready for transport once the Clandonians revealed their primary assault.

----

Sovistan's "fleet" was on patrol off the coastline- the destroyers and frigates moving in groups of two or three, keeping an eye out for enemy activity. The PRS Sentry, a light freighter still bearing the scars of previous conflicts, was the first to go on full alert- It's radar went mad as it registered the huge sections of bombers crossing the ocean, headed straight for them.
"This is PRS Sentry, we've got multiple incoming air contacts! They'll be hitting our shores in a matter of hours!"

----

"How many?" Asked Commander Adavric, glaring at the aide that had brought the news.
"We aren't entirely sure, sir. There are a lot, though."
"Get as many MiGs as you can into the air. Have them intercept any bombers headed for the defences on the shore."
"Sir, you realised that there may be more bombers in this run than MiGs in our entire nation?"
"Of course I do. Just identify the groups headed for the most important areas, and tell the pilots to do their best."

The order was to destroy the military of Sovistan, the first possible engagement as could be imagined with a naval assault was the Sovistani navy. The Super Danskerans and Typhoon-Danskerans submarines would be busy dealing with all the possible naval threats, as the first grey outlines of the frigates appeared on the waves the submarine hunter packs moved in arming their torpedoe systems ready for release.

As they reached the max range of the toredoes a flurry was launch each intended to deal an over kill to the small floalita, they would be wrecks on the ocean sea by the time the MK2 Swordfishes dealt with the rust buckets of the Sovistani navy.

Overhead, B-2 stealth bombers coming in and out of stealth releashed their primary munitions of MK3 Stormshadow air launched cruise missiles each going for a set of fire and forget pre-planned strike co-ordiantes.

On the ships a good 10,000 Marines from 3 Commando were preparing for the beach assault. Challenger and M55 Tanks were being lifted onto hovercraft landing systems and boats lowered into the water. Helicopters and jets ready on the carrriers and assault ships to deploy. The aircraft would provide close air support if a situation called for it, Harrier GR7's and F-35's loaded with bombs, pilots on the deck to go at a moments notice.

First the naval bombardment from the cruisers and destroyers missiles were unleashed onto the beach. No direct targeting was used, just a random spray of fire hoping to wipe out enemy positions if they even had any... No one knew directly, satellite pictures had shown nice little pristine sandy beaches, however these were only 12 hours old.

Greetings, current military deployments are underway against Sovistan for their part in supporting anrcho-socialist terrorists in Clandonia. It has been decided to wipe out the Bolshevik government in a bid to stop the ever increasing threat of socialism in the region. The campaign will be clean and swift with a new pro-Clandonian capitalist government in place after 'free elections'.

The Destroyer PRS Protector watched the PRS Sentry judder and begin to list as torpedos slammed into it. The destroyer's commander decided it was time to act, so ordered that all other patrols converge on their position. Looking toward the coast, he saw the artillery bombardment. Tiny specks were visible, patrol boats trawling up and down the beaches laying mines in the path of any oncoming barges.
The Clandonian navy was still well out of range, so he ordered they advance the fleet to meet the enemy head on.

----

The few MiG squads that were in the air homed in on the bombers. Their stealth made them hard to pick up on radar, but the missiles they were launching were clearly visible. Wing Commander Debtov ordered his group of 10 MiGs to head straight for the enemy bombers and engage.

----

On the shore, the trenches were taking a pounding. Along the coast, URAL trucks began taking squads of soldiers to the artillery barrage, and as many tanks and PzH-2000s as possible were being rallied to converge behind the lines facing bombardment.

Several bomber wings were taking hits, flying at Mach speeds unable to evade the missiles. Four bombers were hit exploding in mid air, killing the crews. Another 17 were badly damaged and had to ditch over, many crews decided to risk ejection over the water hoping to be picked up by the Clandonian navy instead of risking a behind enemy lines landing. Fighter support would be soon avaiable as the aircraft carriers moved into range, F-35's would deal with any of the Migs pestering the B-2's.

The submarines were operating several miles ahead of the main fleets, moving in and out of the enemy shipping trails launching in groups to avoid detection then rapidly moving away, so far they had not encountered resistance. The main fleets were now less than 20 miles from the coast, close enough to begin deploying troops but it was decided due to the high tide to get as close as possible and ground the assault ships if need be. Now it was time to tell the world the Clandonian intentions.

Official Clandonian Response

Today I ordered the invasion of Sovistan for their continued involvement in the aiding of socialist terrorist forces in Clandonia Prime. As I speak, the brave men and women of the Clandonian armed forces are fighting the evil communist scum that has come to plague this planet. My message to the world is unite so we can forever silence the calls of the Bolshevik dogs.

Commander General Daniel Puriton, walked away from his office as the cameras were shut off and the various channels went back to their reporters on the ground in either Clandonia, watching the bombers set of or on the decks of the numerous carriers of the Clandonian fleets preparing to assault the beaches of Sovistan.
Sovistan

20 PzH-2000s had lined themselves up behind the trenches, from which the infantry had been forced to retreat due to the sustained bombardment. They had a 30 kilometre range, and the Clandonian fleet would soon be close enough for them to open fire. Shilka AA tanks formed up behind them, watching the skies for enemy gunships and fighters.

----

In the skies, almost all Sovistans MiGs had been mobilised and were busy harassing the bombers. Most of the pilots hadn't seen real combat before, and were suffering from an enormous boost in confidence at the ease with which the bombers were damaged.

----

In cities and at military bases nationwide, cruise missiles began hitting home. They were causing chaos, hitting fuel dumps and destroying radio towers.

----

The Sovistan navy was suffering terribly at sea- although they had gathered, the combined might of 10 light destroyers and freighters wasn't nearly enough. The freighter PRS Sentry had already been sunk along with the destroyer PRS Rook, and the Destroyer PRS Protector was listing dangerously over on its side. They were frantically dropping depth charges and fire their guns at the closing enemy fleet, while sending co-ordinates of enemy ships for the artillery to use when the assault began.
Clandonia Prime
03-12-2006, 21:55
Sovistani artilery was now in range of the fleets, assault ships and helicopters were leaving to head for the beach a massive force of the entire division of 3 Commando of the Marines was heading for Sovistan in boats, hovercrafts and helicopters. The 16th Air Assault Brigage opperating their Apaches off some of the assault ships began preparing for operations as C-130K's started appear going for the drop zones behind the beaches in the dunes to cut off the Sovistani lines in a flash capture tactic that had worked in the Naashan war. More airpower was arriving from positions in Clandonia a good 6 hour flight away now, B-52's, B-1B Lancers and AC-130 Gunships began bombing runs on the enemy positions, trying to pin point bunkers with heavy munitions.

The cruisers and destroyers of the Clandonian navy were utilising their gunnery skills, many seasoned from the skirmishes with Ackistan and Naasha. With rounds coming in and the sight of listing vessels the officers of the navy knew they were near victory but the battle path was long ahead, as the first boats started to hit the sandy shores...

---------------------------------------------------------

The paperwork to begin if needed the destruction of Sovistani cities came onto Puritons desk, he signed it without hesitation. The bombardment of the civillian quarters would occur as part of the propoganda war if casualites were sustained on the Clandonian side.
Sovistan
03-12-2006, 22:10
The waiting infantry ran forward to the trenches as the first ships began hitting the shores, manning the machineguns to strafe the enemy infantry. They were sustaining heavy casualties from the enemy bombardments, but continued their work in the trench. The shilkas began rattling off hundreds of AA rounds from their miniguns at the incoming helicopters, while the few BT-8 recon tanks that had been called to the front rolled up behind the lines to support the infantry with their machineguns and shells.

----

Behind the lines, Commander Lukin looked down the line of PzH-2000 howitzers. He saw the first enemy ships hit the beach, and gave the order.
"All units! Set to burst fire! Find a target! Fire at will!"
Along the line, there were 20 triple-booms from the howitzers barrels as they launched three shells each in quick succession at the landing enemy ships, the recoil rolling them back a few feet.
Clandonia Prime
03-12-2006, 22:23
Artilery rounds started falling around the landing troops, the sound of machine gun fire in the air as marines jumped off and tanks rolled onto the beach. Men were cut down by the hidden machine gun implacements. The sound of screaming maimed men was a horrific noise, officers shouting over the noise of the ongoing bombardment to alter positions of gunnery to try and and knock out the implacements.

Out at sea, the heavy howitzers rounds had hit several ships, three troop carrier ships of the Albion class were hit setting fire to the supplys of ammo on the deck that were being transfered by helicopters to other vessels. Another destroyer took a direct hit onto the cruise missile launcher tubes causing an almighty blast as the boat was ripped in half. The ship was now starting to sink as men jumped into the water being picked out of the water by over vessels. In retalation Admiral Woflitz ordered Commander Victor to direct all firepower onto the heavy guns positions. High above in orbit, Clandonian satellites were streaming footage of the pictures, locating the lines of advancing Sovistani troops made commanders back home worried. Should this small fleet fail Clandonia would be ridiculled, defeated by a inferior socialist nation. The plan must not fail.
Sovistan
03-12-2006, 22:51
Commander Lukin saw the explosion out at sea, and through his binoculars could see a Destroyer splitting in two, fire rising high over its deck.
"Holy crap! Who managed that one?" He said into his radio, and four Howitzer crews immediately tried to take the credit.

----

50 of the T55 medium tanks were rolling out of the cities, intent on scouring the land behind the trenches for any Clandonian commandos. Half of the MiG pilots had landed their planes for refueling and rearming, while the defenders worked to drive the infantry storming the beaches back.

----

Premier Siudzin sat in his office, staring out the window at the the capital. A few hours earlier, several cruise missiles had landed and devastated several fuel stations and military barracks.
"So it's going well?" He asked an aide, incredulously.
"Yes sir. But we've completely lost contact with the navy group. Our aircraft carrier is docked at Ludik, it's our only remaining large combat vessel."
"How unfortunate. Have the reserves been armed and billeted?"
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Send them to reinforce the coast."
Clandonia Prime
03-12-2006, 23:06
'I've got 134 men killed and a Type 45 sunk, of course its bloody not going well which is why I'm requesting for you to begin arming the orbital systems!'

That was the message sent by Wolfitz to space command at Verdan, they acknowledged the order and systems wirred into life. In orbit, satellites and attack systems were readied for possible use, they would be devestating on such an inferior nation such as Sovistan.

Air wave attacks of F-35's and Harrier GR7's took off from the carriers going inland attacking armoured convoys and hoping to hit the Sovistan airforce either on the ground or defeat them in a deadly air to air battle. Inteligence had suggested the Sovistani navy was defeated all but one carrier docked up somewhere, an airforce Nimrod was tasked to sink it with air launched anti-shipping missiles.

On the beach, marines were in fierce fighting chucking grenades and exchanging small arms fire. Challenger and M55 Black Tiger's were heading inland, the marines of Clandonia were some of the best troops to deal with invasion, they had been used before and would provide an excellent spearhead so the rest of the Clandonian Army arrived in the theatre. Small and mobile units made up of Strykers and Range Rovers moved in hoping to secure bridges and airfields to pave the way for more landings.
Sovistan
03-12-2006, 23:23
"White star time?" Asked a captain, as the Clandonian infantry began making their way up the beach.
"No, no. Send the BT-8s and T55s forward, start hitting their armour. Keep the howitzers firing, fast as they can!"

----

The T-55s were meeting the enemy armour head on, and were exchanging Sabot rounds with them. The first squad of refuelled MiGs was back in the air, preparing to meet the enemy fighters.

----

The infantry in the trenches were taking casualties from the enemy grenades, but the barbed wire was hindering their advance, and the PKs were still firing continuously.
Clandonia Prime

'Mojo one this is spectre flight here preparing for bombing run'. The first wave of twenty Harriers prepared to strafe the trenches are directed by Clandonian marines. Tanks were exchanging fire, tanks taking hits from T-55's burst into flames as the crews tried to escape from the burning vehicles.

In the air F-35's were locking onto the Migs, heavily superior to the ageing Sovistan military they hoped to engage them and wipe out the enemy airforce quickly to aid the invasion.

So, how do you keep it from spreading to other nations and such?

OOC: Not so much killing gas as not-so-healthy-to-hang-around-in gas. Like the old Chernobyl site. And it's mostly concentrated around urban areas where Doomingsland used their weapons, so it gets weaker as it spreads towards the borders.

IC: High above the beaches, the first MiGs were meeting the enemy F-35s, and it wasn't going well. They were far superior to the Soviet model, and out of the 10 MiGs Debtov had led to engage, 5 had already been lost and he was yet to see an enemy fighter go down.

----

On the beaches, things were going better. The T-55s were taking heavy losses, but the sheer weight of numbers was succeeding in damaging the enemy armour, which was still unloading, and the howitzers were still hurling shells over onto the beach.

The superirority of the F-35A's was seen, striking down many a Mig out of the sky as they deployed munitions. Apaches from the 16th Air Assault Brigade flying from the carriers fired rockets into enemy armour, naval gunfire was concentrating on all possible gun positions, they needed to be destroyed now to limit further Clandonian casulities. Several dozen pieces of armour were either destroyed or out of action after howitzer rounds came in.

The numbers of dead were in the hundreads now, many a sad day as Monday broke of families hearing of their losses. Over 800 marines had been killed and 147 sailors. They would be given full military honours, the orders were if death tolls reached above 1000 for the action to be increased and to start targetting civillians as in the standard Clandonian policy of dealing with communist nations, eradication was the only thing to be done, combined with a black propoganda campaign victory would be in the hands of the Clandonian commanders.

04-12-2006, 18:49
Several dozen T-55s had been destroyed by air attacks on the beach, and the next few waves of tanks would take time to arrive- the remaining BT-8s and T-55s rolled out onto the dunes to hold back the enemy armour. The shilka's began moving behind the armour, their AA miniguns roaring as they tried to bring down the enemy apaches.

The howitzers, under heavy bombardment, began rolling back out of range of the enemy navy.
The commander, seeing things were about to get desperate, ordered the men to begin preparing the gas canisters for quick use.

Greetings to the government of Clandonia Prime. It has recently been brought to my attention that a substantial military force of yours has been deployed in war against the nation of Sovistan. We understand from our intelligence that you have traced the supplying of an armed uprising within your nation back to organizations - and perhaps government officials - within Sovistan, and we respect fully your right to protect the security of your nation by ensuring this cannot happen again. However, we are seeking a few assurances;

Can you guarantee that in any elections held after the overthrow of the current regime that all groups will be allowed a fair vote, including those with socialist (though understandably not radically so) policies?
Can you guarantee that the population of Sovistan at large will not be punished for their political beliefs? As a proud socialist nation ourselves we strive to protect and uphold socialism wherever it is democratically sought, and will not stand by and see people punished for their political leanings, whatever they may be.
Perhaps most importantly, for a nation the size of yours to be deploying a force the size the size of the one you have against a nation the size of Sovistan seems somewhat excessive, can you give us assurances that civilian targets will, to the best of your military's ability, be spared, and this not be treated as a 'revenge mission'?

We hope that you do not take any of this as an affront, they are merely questions we need to ask - we do not wish the good name of socialism to be tainted by terrorists, and fully support your actions, provided they remain within the boundaries of reason - we would even be willing to loan you the use of several prison ships, should your invading force face a ground war against civilians where large-scale deadly force would be inadvisable, or even offer our services as peacekeepers where a force closer to their own political beliefs may be more palatable and thus less volatile would be preferred - these are just a few things that our government would like addressed.

Sincerely,
Kyira Sharbatijan,

IC: Two wings of F/A-35 Talons had already launched. Forty-eight of the advanced fighters formed into two formations, each carrying four Meteors, four AMRAAMs and four Sidewinders. Their mission: complete air superiority for the Sovistan forces. The Confederacy of Ezaltia would not tolerate this attack on a trusted ally.

The orders were swift, take no prisoners except no communist Sovistani surrender they would all be killed after the brutal rebelion that they tried in Clandonia which cost the lives of several thousand military and civllian personal in the uprisings. More heavy equipment of the marines was arriving, MLRS and AS-90 systems deploying to deploy heavy munitions onto the costal towns to avoid urban warfare. Teams of infantry now in the dunes were using their Milan anti-tank missiles and the new Koenig H-AVR Anti-Vehicle Rifle 30 mm Tungsten Bolt Round systems. Already the gunner teams were liking their new toy as the power of the 30 mm round was propeled towards an enemy tank.

The order on Puritons desk was to deploy his old fleet now under command of his son leading the way into the battle more naval forces were being prepared and already Drongons fleet was moving at high speed from the Atlantic.

The ground forces were taking a real beating on the beaches as heavier enemy forces began landing, and the defenders were on the point of retreat. The order was finally given to start releasing white star, and canisters were opened to send out thick white smoke, drifting across the dunes. The remaining howitzers began loading gas shells as well, launching their payload onto the enemy landing site- soon the entire battlefield, including the trenches, would be bathed in the poisonous gas. The Sovistani troops watched impassively as the gas was let out, safe behind their uniforms and gasmasks.

As the gas was used, a new wave of infantry, now armed with PPSH SMGs for closer combat, began their advance across the dunes. The first RPGs began firing from behind the trenches, as a thin line of BT-8s and Shilkas rolled out across the dunes.

The tribal leaders of the Nomadic Peoples of Malhavok assembled in the great Hall of Elders. Surrounded on all sides by marble sculptures of great leaders from the past, the tribesmen had an important decision to make.

Should the Confederacy of Tribes come to the aid of Sovistan? That was the sole issue they had met to discuss, but it was one that was bound to have lasting consequences. After much discussion, a decision had been reached.

Official Statement by The Nomadic Peoples of Malhavok

It is the unanimous opinion of the Council of Elders that Clandonia Prime has invaded Sovistan using the flimsiest of evidence as proof of wrongdoing. The mere presence of Sovistan manufactured weapons in Clandonia Prime is proof of nothing. Malhavok uses weapons manufactured by four different nations including our own. If we were to give weapons made by the Pudite Empire or DMG Industries to the Communist faction in Clandonia Prime, would Clandonia Prime invade either of those nations if those weapons were eventually found? We doubt it.

If a few weapons is all the proof Clandonia Prime has then we are not convinced. Sovistan, do you admit helping the Clandonian rebels or do you maintain that you are innocent?

We thank you for taking our questions into consideration, it shows you to be a reasonable and mindful nation in a situation where many would be blindly seeking revenge. We understand perfectly the need for screening to avoid terrorist interests being allowed 'legitimate' power, it is important to ensure that the country is not left in a more dangerous, to itself and to its neighbours, than it was found - to not screen in any election would be irresponsible.

In the interests of possible peace-keeping or supply transport, and to ensure the protection of Kelonian interests in the area, we have dispatched a small naval force to Sovistan waters. Department of Overseas Affairs

Due to the escalating conflict in Sovistan, and Kelonia's diplomatic involvement in such, the official defence condition of the Kelonian military has been raised to Def Con 4. This is no cause for alarm. We have urged the forces of Clandonia Prime to show restraint and consideration and they have responded appropriately, promising to ensure their operations remain reasonable in the context of counter-terrorism. We believe the evidence Clandonia has obtained regarding Sovistan's terrorist operations is sound, and that they have acted reasonably, if with the haste of a nation slighted. We tentatively support their military invasion of Sovistan, and would like to take this oppertunity to distance ourselves from more militant, violent socialism; in no way does the Socialist Part of Kelonia endorse politics by force when other means are availible.

In related news, today the Kelonian military has dispatched a small advance naval detachment, Carrier Group 14 under the command of Rear Admiral Tavitijan, to the area to ensure prompt action can be taken in the face of anything untoward, and to provide a 'floating airbase' for supplies and peacekeeping activities once the war is over, pending Clandonia's permission. No Kelonian ship will open hostilities or engage in offensive manouvers, however all parties are reminded that should they attempt to engage the Kelonian military in combat, there will be grave consequences. The detachment is expected to take three weeks to arrive in Sovestanian waters, and our thoughts go out to Veket Tavitijan and his brave troops.

OOC: I'll post precisely what Carrier Group 14 contains once I've done the far less impressive activity of doing my shopping.

The white cloud enveloped the marines, the armoured vehicles with their own seperate air supplies were blinded by the thick cloud as the infantry were cut down by this deadly unknown gas...

As the tanks and armoured became blind they were soon hit by rocket propelled grenade fire. As the crews tried to escape from their burning wreckage they were too hit by the poison dropping dead as they couged up they drowned in their lung fluid. As the news started to trickle the commanders from the fleet watched in horror as the screens as they watched the panick, officers on the beach relaying the message as they tried to get into NBC gear but it was already to late more than half the force of 20,000 marines was dead murdered by the communists forces of Sovistan.

Admiral Woflitz was briefed and dispatched a message to General Puriton back in Clandonia,

To Lord Governer Puriton:

Our forces had been attacked with chemical weaponry from Sovistani forces under the orders of the 2006 Clandonian NBCR Retilation Act I ask permision to deploy force against the nation of Sovistan from our orbital and possibly our nuclear systems.

The reply back was the 'yes kill the fucking bastards' as CNN broke the news of the massive casualites as preparations were made for retalation. If not nuclear then the nation of Sovistan would pay for their crimes, in orbit using kinetic weaponry 'Rod's of God' system over twenty tungstan-titanium missiles were deployed from space onto major cities and 'secondary' targets. Secondary meaning all civillian targets such as hospitals and schools in Clandonian military terms...

Each missile shot down to at 36,000 feet per second would cause a great deal of destruction, many remember the deploying of such weapons in Naasha in which they killed several thousand civillains and flattened the cities. The Bolsheviks would dearly pay for the lives of the Clandonians taken away today.

The soldiers on the dunes had effectively cleared the beach. Officers ordered them to salvage the more advanced weaponry from the enemy corpses, to be loaded onto trucks and taken into urban areas to upgrade the outdated reserve's equipment. The men had just started cheering about their victory over the first Clandonian landing when there was a huge flash on the horizon, followed by a rumble like thunder. They stopped cheering, staring at the distant city.
"Hey, I lived there!" Shouted one of the soldiers, as another flash announced another missile landing.

----

In the cities, blocks of buildings had been completely levelled and close to a thousand civilians and reserve soldiers killed as the first missiles began landing. Premier Siudzin read the news, and turned to an aide.
"Where are they coming from?"
"Uh... The sky. Not bombers, we know that. They could be orbital weapons, but we had no idea Clandonia could afford those."
"I doubt it's a coincidence that right after we use white star they start using these missiles. This is a revenge attack." Siudzin sat for a moment. "Well, time to get a message to the Malhavokians."
"Going to lie, sir?"
"Absolutely."

However, we must deny that the weapons used by Clandonian rebels were supplied by our government- undoubtedly they were made in our factories, and if anything remains after Clandonia's orbital bombardments, we'll do our very best to find who has been supplying Sovistani arms to foreign entities.

With the confirmation of the destruction caused by the orbital systems many wondered what to do now, risk another assault with more troops or bomb the country flat? Both could be costly and latest strike was bound to alert the internationa community of the Clandonian actions in the region. The news of the brutal mutalation of corpses had spread and gotten onto CNN somehow. This had shocked many people, there were protests outside of the Ministry of Defence by families calling for Sovistan to be nuked, which was still a posibilty as after the what was had been known as the 'white star' attack Clandonia Prime had the authority to deploy its own WMD systems.

It was decided on late Tuesday afternoon to begin a sustained bombing campaign against all targets on the primary list and if need start purposely targetting civlians if the Sovistani government did not accept the terms of a surrender which was being drafted. What was know, Clandonia needed slaves which ment they couldn't kill hundreads of thousands like the military did in Naasha...

We offer the Sovistanis a chance of surrender, if they do not then their nation will be destroyed. The main points of the agreement are:

1. All Sovistani military to be disbanded
2. All Sovistani Weapons of Mass Destruction be handed over to Clandonia
3. All Sovistani communist terrorists to surrender over to Clandonian forces where they will be trialed under Clandonian law
4. For 2 million citizens be given to Clandonia as slaves, an assorted mix of women and men in the ages of 16-30 would be required.
5. Democratic elections to occur without any old socialist party influence safeguard by Clandonian officials
6. For Clandonian forces to have a presence in Sovistan after the democratic elections

If these conditions are not agreed to then the bomardment of all major assets of the Sovistani governemt will be begin in 12 hours time. Continued attacks using chemical munitions may result in the deployment of Clandonian strategical nuclear weaponry.

"Slavery? Ridiculous... What century are these people from?" He turned to an aide. "Start evacuating civilians from the cities."
"Where do we take them, sir?"
"Use the old towns and villages. How many MiGs do we have left?"
"Around 40, sir. We've taken some losses."
"Well, get them to bring down as many bombers as they can. What's the situation with our anti-air?"
"We've got a few in place around the cities, and a lot of old flak cannons. We haven't lost many shilkas, so they should be able to help."
"Alright. Spread the armour and howitzers out- don't put them all in one place. What are the losses on the beaches?" The aide searched through his papers for a sheet with some scribbled figures on it.
"Around 250 infantry, 120 of our T-55s and 16 BT-8s."
"Right."
"Do you plan to reply to the Clandonians yet?"
"No sense in pissing them off before we have to. Get as many people out of the cities as you can."

Even if the Sovistanis accepted the agreement a massive force was preparing for the final assault. Another 40,000 Marines from 1 and 2 Commando Divisions and 200,000 troops from the 1st Army Expiditionary Force who had arrived from Puriton's fleet or those that would be deployed via paratroopers. Along with them ready for the occupation an entire division of the CPISF who would administrate the slave taking and the killings of all communists.

On the runways of Clandonia, around 400 heavy transport aircraft of a mixture of Antanovs, C-5's and C-17's loaded up with troops and equipment for the massive assault. The first wave of aircraft would be around 200 B-52 bombers that would pumel the coastal defenses with napalm, JDAM's, bunker busters and fuel air weaponry. Almost in sucession orbital systems would deploy almost a sixth of their entire arsenal onto Sovistani towns and cities to blanket destroy the urban ares ensuring that the local popullation would be too weak to mount any sort of resistance. If they did it was simple they would die, the slave quotas were ready off for deployment with the Leafanstinan Mafia either on the battlefields of the Corporate Alliance or the Kraven Corporations ongoing campaign, who ever it ment it was money for Clandonia and anyone that stopped them would hinder the free market economy and therefore a communist. The new tanks were moving out to reinforce key positions, with the AA vehicles leading up behind, their computer targeting systems scanning the skies for missile targets. More white star canisters were being hauled out of the stocks, and the reserves had been armed and were preparing to move out. The barbed wire was being relain, mines buried in the sand, tank traps righted. At the airports, the few remaining MiGs were preparing for combat, while civilians were outright fleeing the cities for the old, abandoned towns that littered the wastelands. The ten "Triumf" missile launchers were hidden a few kilometres behind the trenches, waiting for the enemy navy to come in range.

Out at sea, the nuclear submarines and ships opened up their cruise missile hatches unleashing a flurry of hundreads of missiles selected to hit a pre-selected computer database of targets from a primary or secondary list. The naval forces moved in closer, firing their guns onto the shoreline hoping to score hits with a massive delivery of firepower. Satellites streamed the footage of the bombardment as well as looking for possible chemical weapon lauches, if it occured again then low yeild nuclear devices may be deployed against Sovistan something many didn't really want to do.

As over fourty kinetic missiles were unleashed from their systems guided down to the ground at 36,000 feet per second targetting large sections of the country. If anyone survived the onslaught then the battle for Sovistan would be a tough one...

To: Clandonian & Sovistan Governments
From: Kyira Sharbatijan, Minister for Overseas Security

We bring you a proposition: If this war can be ended through negotiation and not further bloodshed, i.e. both sides halt their offensive manouvers at the same time, we offer our services as mediators in the conflict. This has a number of advantages for both sides, and these are outlined below:

To Clandonia Prime
+Kelonia will investigate thoroughly the terrorist acts committed against your people, working equal to and alongside Clandonian forces. All those found to have been involved in the planning of the attacks, as well as all those of the military who gave orders for chemical weapons to be used against your invading forces, will be handed over to Clandonia for trials in Clandonian courts. Kelonian services will be present only to ensure fairness and impartiality in the eyes of the international community.

+ In conjunction with Clandonian forces, Kelonian forces will act as mediators between the Sovistani people and Clandonian security forces. This will hopefully prevent many demonstrations or attacks against Clandonian forces, and we will work together to ensure a democratic, free election that is screened and cleared of any possible terrorist influence is installed in Sovistan, to the benefit of all our peoples.

- In exchange for this, you will not be permitted to take free persons into slavery. The people you would be enslaving would likely be nothing to do with any attacks against your nation, and undeserving of such a cruel punishment. You would be permitted by this agreement to take assets enough to cover the cost of damages to your nation from the Sovistan government in terms of precious metal stocks and other seized materials, however no innocent people will be taken into slavery.

- Any continued occupation past the democratic elections held will continue only until a self-governed Sovistan is no longer a danger to the outside world in the eyes of any reasonable organization. A permenent occupation or military prescence would surely simply be a drain beyond this threshold, and it would be in your interests to leave the country as soon as it was safe to be left. There would be no time limit.

To Sovistan

+ We will ensure your people are safe from slavery, and safe from unfair trials and will be treated with dignity and justice. Investigations will be undertaken into your supposed involvement in terrorist activities in accordance with international treaties. Guilty parties and only guilty parties will be handed over to Clandonian jurestiction for trial and sentence. Innocent parties, however, will be protected and citizens who are innocent of any crimes pertaining to Clandonia yet still feel unsafe in Sovistan will be granted asylum in Kelonia.

- You have been shown to be using chemical weapons in the form of poison gas against infantry targets. I cannot overstate this enough, this will not stand. If there is one further instance of chemical weapons being used against infantry targets one hour after receiving this message, this agreement will be null and void. You will be left entirely at the mercy of Clandonia Prime and Clandonia Prime alone. Use of chemical weapons against infantry targets is unacceptable, and you will be left to, in informal terms, 'get what you deserve'.

This agreement is to come into force immediately within one hour of both sides saying 'aye'. Clandonia is to begin occupation of Sovistani cities and both sides are to prepare and restore airfields for arrival of Clandonian and Kelonian security forces. This statement is issued with the full authority of the Kelonian High Chamber, up to and including the Premier himself.

The Citadel, Urbis Doomanus

Caesar Maximus III had thus far had one of the most violent reigns in the history of the Empire. Within weeks of his assuming the throne from his father, the Imperium Doomanum became engulfed in the most bloody conflict it had ever seen: the Arretii Crusade, perhaps better known as the Last Good War. It had been the first invasion of Doomanum that had lasted more than a few weeks in nearly a millennium. Emperor Maximus had lead the Doomani Army to a glorious victory over the Czardaian and Questarian infidels, completely crushing their invasion and relieving the beleaguered army at the Imperial port of Arretium, for which the crusade had been named.

Numerous wars and crusades with imperialistic agendas followed this war of defense; many of them personally lead by the Emperor. Of course, it had not been Maximus who had been the butcher of the Sovistani people. That had been his father, who had reigned in an equally bloody fashion. The Sovistani War had been largely viewed as a glorious triumph for the Imperium and one of the first time it had bested armies from what had been arguably more powerful nations, in this case Hallad and Hogsweat.

The first war had ended in a matter of hours; Imperial forces had swept through the Sovistani defenses in a single night of intense fighting and captured the capital. This was only the beginning of the bloodshed.

Following a few months of occupation and intense indoctrination under their new masters, the Sovistani people had risen up in revolt. What ensued was nothing short of wholesale slaughter: The Empire, short on patience, immediately unleashed its vast arsenal of chemical and biological weapons. Imperial soldiers stormed urban centers, butchering those who had managed to seek shelter. Thousands of crosses had lined the roads of the shattered nation, and upon them hung men, women, and children alike.

It was nothing short of a nightmare for the Sovistani people. Most of their people suffered unspeakably horrific fates at the hands of the Doomani; many more had been sold into slavery. However, even after the Purification of Sovistan, as it was called by the Doomani, there were survivors. These bands of men and women who had persevered and hidden throughout the Purification had later emerged to find their country an utter wasteland: the Sovistan we now know today.

From there they had rebuilt, and, well, that brings us to current times…

Seated comfortably upon his throne at the head of a long marble table within a vast chamber, Maximus’ cold gaze swept from man to man. His personal council was a formidable one: these were all men that had been hand picked by him; many of them had fought along side him in battle with barbarians. There were well over two hundred men seated at the table. He trusted all of these men with his life, and thus he trusted and valued their advice. Along with them were their own personal servants and aids, standing immediately behind them; dozens of slaves, aids, and bodyguards per man. There were several thousand people gathered within the vast hall.

Along the table were three holographic displays, showing all of the high ranking Patricians a real-time 3D map of Sovistan as it was now. Up until minutes ago, Maximus had not known of the existence of a new Sovistani state, and was very displeased to learn of this. Immediately he knew he must preserve the honor of his father by finally bringing these unbelievers under permanent and secure Imperial rule.

Maximus sat slightly far back from the table itself on his throne, above the others. He was a formidable man, standing at six-foot eight and weighing nearly three hundred pounds. This was all muscle, of course, for he was first and foremost a warrior; thus he was an intimidating figure to behold. His hair was cut short and he now sported a trimmed black beard, as was his custom when not on campaign. He was clad in finely polished black ceremonial armor, the chest emblazoned with a golden cross, and his gladius sat across his lap. He had listened to his advisors keenly as they apprised him of the current situation, and now he was ready to level his sacred judgment on the matter.

”I believe it is quite clear what we must do, brothers,” he began in a cold, authoritative tone, ”Sovistium (Sovistium being the Latinized form of Sovistan) is a rogue province. Her citizens are Imperial subjects in rebellion. Immorality and heresy have gripped these lands in the absence of righteous Imperial rule; we are obligated by Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to restore Imperial dominance in the region. Deus vult!” he proclaimed, pounding a gauntlet-clad fist onto the arm of his throne.

”Deus vult!” came the almost robotic response from the men arrayed before Mighty Caesar.

”Certain meddling infidels stand in the path of our glorious liberation of these lands; they shall either bend to our will or perish before our legions. It is their choice. I highly doubt they knew of Sovistan’s condition of being a rogue province of the Imperium Doomanum, thus a certain amount of leniency must be given towards them.

“What we will not stand for is heresy within lands once governed by the Empire! This is an absolute abomination!” he stood now, more lively than ever. He spoke passionately, full of anger and rage towards those who would seek to defile lands his father had honorably conquered for the Empire.

”Brothers, it is in this light that I am obligated to petition His Holiness, Pope Innocent VI, to call upon all the faithful to execute a most holy and righteous crusade to purge the Sovistii Heresy and cleanse the faithless! It is in that light that I call upon myself, and indeed, all Doomani, to take up the cross once more, and bring the Light to these dark lands! DEUS VULT!” He pounded his chest, shouting towards heaven,

”DEUS VULT!” erupted the vast hall.

Once more the Imperium Doomanum would take up the cross and go on crusade in the name of Jesus Christ, their Savior. Once more millions of people would perish…

Official Communique

IMPERIVM DOOMANVM

To: All parties currently involved in the invasion of Sovistan

Greetings fellow nations,

The Imperium Doomanum regrets to inform you that the Imperial Province of Sovistan is NOT available for annexation by any involved parties. Sovistan is infact a rogue province of the Empire, and thus her citizens are Imperial subjects in open rebellion. Thus, the Imperium Doomanum demands that all foreign armies and navies immediately depart Imperial soil.

However, the Imperium does recognize that foreign soldiers have shed blood in combating Sovistani rebels, and have thus done a glorious and honorable service to the Imperium. As a result, the Imperium Doomanum is offering unconditional reparations to the nations and families of soldiers honorably killed in battle against said rebels.

Provided all nations in question withdraw from Imperial soil in a timely manner, a sum of fifteen million denarii shall be awarded to the families of their soldiers killed in battle, with another two-hundred billion denarii awarded to the governments of said nations for both cooperating with the Imperial Government and to cover the loss of any equipment destroyed by rebel forces.

Other terms, such as mining rights and other economic issues regarding Sovistan can be negotiated as well. We sincerely hope you find these terms accomodating.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Imperium Doomanum was a nation that was in a state of near-perpetual mobilization following the Arrettii Crusade, thus preparation for a renewed crusade- one that had gained the blessing of the Pope hours after he was called upon Caesar to declare one -was a simple matter. It would not take much overwhelming force to crush the will of the Sovistani people, but that was not what the High Command was most worried about. The Clandonian military, in the event their government refused to withdraw, would present a slightly bigger obstacle to the success of the Crusade.

Thus, a prefabricated invasion armada prepared to set sail within sixteen hours of the orders coming from the mouth of the Emperor. This was a strong force, consisting of three heavy carrier battle groups, four surface warfare groups, and a command squadron, all escorting the invasion group. At the heart of this group was the super dreadnaught Remus, a veteran of the Arretii Crusade, and the vessel that had sunk the Questarian super capital ship Mountbatten .

In command of this fleet was none other than the Emperor Himself; this was, after all, a Crusade: a holy war. A war that could only be lead by mighty kings and emperors.

Housed within this fleet were a total of eight armored and mechanized legions along with two more Marine legions. There would be no withdrawals this time; at least before everyone was dead.

Lying only a few thousand miles from the shores of the Empire, Sovistan was easy pickings. It was well within range for the Imperium’s strategic bombing arm, but until foreign governments had made their stance clear, the bombers would only remain on standby…

OOC: Doom, can you please stay out of this and allow the little nations to role-play? Sovistan and CP agreed to this role-play and there wasn’t a talk about a rogue province of the Imperium Doomanum. All you are doing is throwing your weight around. I could have done that, but I want to see the little nations role-play it out.

As planned, the Empire's six B-2 bombers approached Sovistan as part of the Clandonia Prime bomber formation. As they approached the northwest coast of Sovistan, the bombers broke formation as expected. Along the way, they maintained radio silence.

Each of the bombers carried one Achilles E-Bomb along with their usual conventional guided munitions. Four of the B-2's sacrificed a 500lb pound to make room for a bomb capable of distributing 2,000 business card sized laminated pamphlets.

Two of the bombers headed towards the two nearest notable cities in Sovistan. Their orders were to drop their E-bomb on a city, and use their conventional bombs on any nearby strategic targets.

The other four bombers diverted towards Ezaltia. Their orders were to target four Ezaltian cities or towns near Sovistan. Their e-bombs would be dropped first, followed by the pamphlet bomb, and finally their conventional bombs.

The pamphlets said but two words.

"DON'T INTERFERE"

OOC Disclaimers: The pilots carry no identification or personal effects. They do not know it, but their ejection seats have been disabled. Their flight gear has Clandonia Prime's ensignias sewn on. The B-2's themselves and the bombs they carry were not manufactured in my nation. My government is not claiming responsibility for these attacks regardless of their success. My government is trying to provoke war between Ezaltia and Clandonia Prime. We are evil that way.

The E-bombs are set to detonate at an elevation that would cause a 10 mile radius EMP. I’m not really targeting capitals or anything… just any cities (that aren’t completely tiny) near Sovistan’s and Ezaltia’s nearest points.

A solitary E-4 Nightwatch was cruising on its routine flight around northern Ezaltia. There was really nothing there, just some pretty glaciers, fjords, and the aurora borealis. On the ground, the temperature was nearly -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Up here, even with the climate control on, the crew still had to wear sweaters against the chill.

Lietenant Marcus James poured himself another mug of coffee from the huge urn in the corner. It really was boring up here. He sat down in his chair, fastened the seatbelt, and took another glance at his radar screen. Nothing there. He shrugged. It was expected, though. He pressed a button on his control panel, switching the screen from radar to CELLDAR. He almost dropped his coffee.

Four blips were clearly displayed there, already in Ezaltian airspace and moving down the coastline. "Sir! Sir!" he yelled, and events were quickly put into motion.

Moonraven AFB

Eight F/A-35 Talons were scrambled, taking off one by one and forming up in two neat wedge formations. Each carried four Meteors, four AMRAAMs, and four Sidewinders. They quickly gained altitude and activated their Pulse Detonation Wave engines, accelerating to nearly Mach 5 towards the contacts.

As the four B-2's destined for Ezaltia broke formation, they went their seperate ways as they gracefully flew towards their targets.

For a number of years the Empire's air force had made use of CELLDAR systems themselves. As the Talons took to the air, the bombers knew their positions had been made.

They had been given orders for just such a contingency. They would fly at their top speed to the absolute nearest population center regardless of size, and deliver their payload. Their mission wasn't so much to do damage...they were here to deliver a message.

A message that had traveled across the world about a hundred times or more and that could be tracked to millions location on this forsaken world called Earth was send out after the word of the Imperium Doomanum being in this problem. It would take a long time for somebody to find the original location and that was location in international waters from a ship not registered to the Dominion or the Dominion Commonwealth. The ship was a ghost ship, a former Spanish cruise liner that was stolen over twenty years ago and said to be loss at sea. Anybody could see that the ship has not touched a port in a long time, the paint was not looking good and the list goes on.

Don’t trust the Imperium Doomanum. They are nothing but monster and killers. They aren’t in this to stop the fighting, they are in it to grab more land and slaves for their evil deeds. Don’t trust the hordes of the Imperium Doomanum

The ship had no lives on it and was rigged to blow as the fourth location to its location was tracked by whomever is tracking it. It would be a long time before they would get to that fourth location.

OOC: I don’t trust you, Doom. And you can’t track this message back to the Dominion. Think of that scene in that movie, with Steven about that train and that super laser satellite, with the USA government trying to track the satellite and have millions of location popping up. Directly after the declaration of war was sent, a large stealth aircraft took off from Gerbsob Military Airbase. A single SR-71 stealth aircraft, armed with the usual spy equipment and high tech radar made it's way to Sovistan, to scout out the terrain and geographic hardpoints. The single pilot, a man sworn to secrecy and more than willing to commit suicide rather than surrendur if shot down radioed his final take off transmission until he was out of the "radio silence" zone, "Command, this is Harpy One. All systems good. I'll see you when I get back. Over and out command." The pilot then plugged in coordinated to his window screen LCD. The aircraft had only one marking, a small "UES" Air Force symbol on it's right wing. The pilot had little personal equipment himself. He had 1 single 9mm sidearm, with only 1 extra clip of ammo. He also had a 9mm silencer, a small map and direction book of orders, which he would light on fire if he knew he was going down, a small commando knife, a cigarette pack and a single pen. The man did not smoke, but he did indeed need these cigarettes. They were coated with a small poison cap, which if inhaled at a maximum of two times, the inhaler would double over with the inhaled poision and be dead within 2 seconds. The pen was also not a ordinary pen. It didn't write. Infact, where the ink cartridge was, instead was a stiff but small blade. Simply by unscrewing the cap, one could take out the blade. And lastly, beneath the blade was a small pill in a headache medicine wrapper. The pill was actually a toxin, witch if swallowed would kill the subject in about 10 seconds.

IC: Still no response. The ordnance bays on the Talons opened, and the tips of the missiles poked out, drawing a bead on the targets. Every Talon in the intercept group fired one AMRAAM over the nose of their targets. The next shot would be aimed for the engines.

The Great Forum, City of Valesca, Mari Velasca

Oderus Urungus, the self-proclaimed Life-president of Mari Velasca, the one who brought the once failed Socialist Nation to a great, prosperous Capitalist Paradise, now found himself pondering a simple, but great question.

Be a Hero, and aid a besieged Nation? Forsake years of Capitalist teaching and instead look out for the common, greater good?

Or simply watch and see what happens?

Why not both?

"Sovistan seems to be in quite a pickle. Doomingsland, Nero, Ed States...all breathing down Sovistan's neck. With only Ezaltia, Soviet Party on their side. Which creates a pickle for us as well," Oderus looked faceless, his lips pursed untill they could hardly be seen, his eyes squinted, deep in thought.

"But Oderus," Flattus Maximus, the Prime Minister of Mari Velasca contested, "they may as well be on the other side of the world. We have no truly vested interest in their affairs."

"Oh, but we do...this is our chance to become known, on an international scale. I refuse to send Military aid to them, however, we can play the impartial card. We can send medical aid. To both parties, even. We can composite a Medical Brigade, can we not?"

"It's a risky game you play. They are, in fact, Communists..."

"Who says we can't just get along? Get General Ballsac, the Jaws of Death on the line."

I second my ally TWSP: You have no business here.

If you commence offensives against Sovistani targets you will be intercepted by Kelonian forces. Forces greater than our own are at work here, Mr. Tryoni, and we will not allow your nation to escalate the conflict for personal reasons. Leave the forces battling over Sovistan to their battles; making this a wider conflict could have far-reaching implications for all of us, and we will not stand to let you do this lightly.

We advise you to let this be solved diplomatically, as none of us truly wants bloodshed. This is between Sovistan and Doomingsland, your interference can only make things worse.

Meanwhile, off the coast of Sovistan, just beyond the horizon as seen from the Sovistan beachheads, the KWS Legate and KWS Levantin, both Nimitz-class carriers, slowed to a halt. The compliment of protectary destroyers, led by the KWS Adijand, numbered four, and were joined by the frigate KWS Rojan. Behind them, a small armada of logistics vessels mingled in the open sea, while two submarines hung in the depths below. All ships had their guns lowered in the traditional Kelonian naval showing of passive prescence. On the bridge of the Legate, Rear Admiral Arman Tavitijan was debating with his communications officer and his second in command.

"Admiral, we've had word from the central government that we're to expect hostile forces from the nation of United Ed States."

"United Ed States? Are you sure? What are they looking for?"

"Sir, we don't know, sir. They declared war on Sovistan and have threatened to wipe socialism from the state, sir. Seems like a..."

"A what, Lieutenant?"

"An almighty anti-communist clusterfuck, sir!"

"It does indeed, what about the other nations in the region; Clandonia? Sovistan itself?"

"Sir, the fighting appears to have died down, sir. The Holy Empire of Doomingsland has laid claim to it's territory, sir, and it seems to have frightened everybody off. Scanners show not a shot fired in anger in the last six hours, sir."

"Then what do the United Ed States think they're doing trying to stir things up? Alright, let Clandonia and Doomingland do what they like in Sovistan, it's their war, and Doomingsland has more than enough resources to defend it's territory, but we need to stop this conflict escalating. Do you have a report on the readiness of our air wing?"

"Sir, yes, sir - ships have a total compliment of 140 aircraft - capacity is 180, sir, we're understocked - including 60 F-4 Phantoms, all at full readiness. We've also got 40 Yak-141s and our REI-21 compliment numbers 32. The remaining 8 are all EA-6 Prowler aircraft, sir, all being prepared, sir."

"Very well, get the Phantoms up in the air, I want them doing regular patrols, but I don't want them anywhere near the coast - the last thing we need is to provoke a wider conflict while trying to avoid one. If any UES aircraft come within range I want them intercepted, but don't fire unless the pilot thinks there's a risk he'll be attacked, or that the bogey will attack Sovistan targets - if so I want it shot down before it gets over Sovistan proper, is that clear?"

"Yes, sir, it is, sir!"

"Oh, and get Comms to put out a notice, either directly or through the MB**, that our planes arent here to attack Sovistan, Clandonia or any of the others - don't let those planes up until it's out!"

"Sir, yes sir!"

IC: Premier Siudzin had been on the verge of accepting the Kelonian proposal when news had come through of Doomingsland's involvement.
"Doomingsland? Well, we know what they're after..." He muttered.
"They want something, sir?" Asked his aide.
"Yes, I suppose they'll want a repeat of the old genocides... I'd hoped we'd be able to strengthen the nation, get ourselves some allies before they struck again. Too slow, I suppose." He sat in thoughtful silence for a few minutes. "Has all the new equipment arrived and been billeted yet?"
"Yes, sir. But the beaches have been under bombardment for the last couple of hours. Nothing too bad, though, the Clandonians havent seen a fraction of the infantry yet. It may be possible to simply drive their landing craft back by sheer weight of numbers."
"We may not even have to fight them. Doomingsland will sweep them out of the way and do the work for us when it begins its assault... Of course, I'd rather fight the Clandonian fleet than the Doomingsland juggernaught. But fighting the old enemy will be good for morale, I suppose. Nothing like righteous fury to get the men riled up and ready for combat."

Siudzin pulled a clipboard over to him, and leafed through the communications.
"Right, the Kelonian States will keep Ed States' bombers off our backs, but then again the Doomani will just slaughter the whole damn lot of them anyway... To: Kelonian States, The World Soviet Party, Ezaltia, Malhavok

This is an appeal for aid- It is common international knowledge that the atrocities commited by Doomingsland's forces prior to its former invasion were some of the worst the world has ever seen- the systematic extermination of an entire nation's populace. This is likely to be repeated should Doomingsland invade. Please, we require military aid, our forces simply will not be able to cope.

Premier Siudzin

We must act fast- Our civilians will be transported to your borders, as many as possible, prior to the Doomingsland assault.

Premier Siudzin
People's Republic of Sovistan

The news went out amongst the military, who were naturally furious at the return of the old occupiers. Volunteer civilians, who's numbers grew incredibly fast following the press release, we being armed with the spare AK-103's and AK-47s, and as many as possible were being given spare uniforms. The population of Sovistan still remembered the genocides, and harboured a healthy hatred of their old occupiers.

To all involved nations:

Last night Clandonia launched a massive final strike, our last aimed at destroying the Sovistani government and military for good. We accept the Doomingsland offer, the money will be glady excepted by the famalies of the 14,000 men and women who lost their lives in the conflict.

The three fleets of the Clandonian navy will remain until all hostilies have ended and we have confirmation from the Doomingsland military that they have destroyed all traces, we care not for trials of the people who funded the terrorists they would be killed anyway this war just quickened the process.

We would still like two million slaves, perhaps further discusion with Doomingsland could be done for a possible sale.

Reading the Clandonian report, a furious Siudzin gave the order.

The 10 "Triumf" missile launchers were given the co-ordinates of one of the enemy aircraft carriers, and the "big" missiles, with a 400km range. They each programmed the missiles to the target, before simulataneously launching all ten. They shrieked up into the sky, before curving towards their target and streaking out to sea. The men cheered as the missiles went overhead, it was the first time in the history of the Sovistan military that such advanced ordinance had been used on their side.

You have our sympathy with your plight, but you must understand that we cannot give you an immediate answer to your request: to assist you in any traceable way against Doomingsland would put our own nation and potentially our allies in great danger, and this is a decision that must not be taken lightly. You will hear from us soon, however we cannot promise anything, we must put the safety of our own people above that of anything else. We hope you can understand this.

We will be doing everything we can diplomatically however to ensure that your citizens are not taken into slavery - we will be looking to convince Clandonia that slavery is not an option, and those handed over for slavery will be considered for immediate asylum in Kelonia.

'We have incoming missile contacts bearing 00Z36 East!' Shouted the Electronic warfare officer.

'Arm the Goal Keepers and Phalanx systems!' Yelled Commander Jnr Puriton as he stood on the bridge of the leading carrier.

'How many?'

'At least ten sir.'

'Engage at will.'

As the carriers and other ships armed their defences firing into the air striking down six a good distance before they posed a threat. Another was blown away just meters by a Type 45 destroyer but three got into the tight necked perimeter striking three carriers. Hitting the sub-decks exploding fuel and ammo stores ripping one of the Nimtiz aircraft carriers in halve as it began to list and sink in the waters. The other two carriers hit were two CVN 21 Class Aircraft carriers. A pricely cost with well over 600 personal dead, in retalation as the news trickled back to Clanon City on the rainy evening of 6th December 2006 Lord Governer Puriton ordered the launch of more orbital systems this time, target the towns and other areas were the civillians had moved to as soon on satellite photography. A further fourty kinetic projectiles were sent down to kill as many of the dirty Sovistani civllians as possible, they would pay for their nations carnage with their lives.

"41 to base, repeat, F-4 41 to base, it's all opening up over here, please advise, over!" The pilot of the F-4 watched as the missiles tore into the carriers on the horizon, all bright flashes and billowing smoke.

"We see it, 41, at least one Clandonian carrier sunk, heavy missiles, must have hit it right in the ammo cache" came the reply. "others hit, maintain distance, do not enrage targets, repeat, do not engage, source is confirmed as Sovistani, continue patrol, over."

"What the hell are the MBs up to, I thought this had died down, over?"

"We did too, 41, just maintain offshore patrol, over."

"Should I fly in to survey, over?"

"...41, what are your orders, over?"

"...maintaining patrol, sir - over."

On board the Legate, things were a lot less calm; large monitors showed
the kinetic weaponry raining down on Sovistani population centres, and passions were being tested.

"People are dying out there, Admiral - civilians! We're just sitting here letting it happen! What the hell are we doing here if we're not going to help those people?"

"We're here to stop the conflict spreading, Commander. That is the job we've been tasked with and that's the job we'll do."

"But they're using weapons on civilians! Deliberate targettings, you can see for yourself!"

"This after the Sovistanis used chemical weapons? There are no angels in this. This is not our war, and Doomingsland has advised us to keep clear. Let Clandonia fear the wrath of them if they continue to invade, but it's not our place. We're here to ensure this war does not envelop more nations - nations without a claim to Sovistan, to avoid this becoming a massacre."

"This already is a goddamn massacre, sir, look at it! They're using satellite weapons on popuation centres, and do you really believe Doomingsland are going to be much better when they reclaim their territory? We've all heard the tales of genocide from the last time they conquered the region"

"What do you suggest, that we go to war with Clandonia and Doomingsland? We wouldn't last five minutes - we'd be stupid to risk it, and we'd never get government permission anyway - I don't like this any more than you do, but these people are screwed either way, there's no way we can stop this without losing thousands of our own men, and why should we risk that? If you've got a plan, commander, then tell us, but I'm not endangering thousands of my men for the sake of a nation we'd barely heard of two weeks ago."

OFFICIAL DIPLOMATIC STATEMENT

The Sacred Emperor, in his infinite glory, has decreed that the 'war' between Sovistan and all invaders is officially over. Certainly Imperial history will regard it as having never legally existed. Sovistium is a rebellious province of the Imperium Doomanum, nothing more; if Kesh were, hypothetically, to break away from the Kregaian Empire today, and we did not instantly crush the rebellion, we would certainly not regard it as a legitimate body, able to declare and conduct a state of war. No more is Sovistium a sovereign nation.

We know the Imperium Doomanum needs no aid in crushing the rebels; otherwise, the Legions would be begging to be unleashed on the infidels of Sovistium.

However, should aggression by the supporters of the Sovistian rebels against members of ACTO continue, the Imperium will crush the upstarts. And should anyone be so foolish as to interfere with the Doomani peacekeepers, the wrath of the Imperium will be swift and devastating.

NID Remus, Imperial Crusader Armada

The mighty kilometer-long battleship quietly cut through the fog as waves crashed upon her deck. A massive Crusader's Death's Head prowdly flapped in the intense wind high above what was easily the biggest vessel in the fleet. Maximus eyed his own dark reflection in the bridge's window as rain pounded on the glass and dripped down. He'd spent many nights like this preparing for an invasion, standing upon a bridge and simply gazing into the blackness.

There was something mysterious about it, and he found that strangely interesting. Directly in front of and below him were the Remus three fore turrets, quad twenty-seven inchers. These guns had been fired in anger many, many times before. The Remus herself was a veteran of crusades like her commander.

The whole vessel was on a simply massive scale, and Maximus, even after being around the things for a good portion of his life, was still amazed that men could build such things.

None the less, he simply could not wait until he reached dry land. That is where the fun would truely begin.

"Time to launch, Admiral?" boomed Caesar's voice to the man who stood behind him, a hardy old naval commander by the name of Quintus Varelius Cicero.

"First birds should be launching within two minutes, m'lord."

A grin came across the face of the emperor. Soon the Imperium would fire the first shots of the Sovistani Crusade. They would be the first of many, many shots; the first of many deaths as well. The targets for the first carrier-based strike on Sovistan would target the enemy's command and control installations that still remained intact following the Clandonian strikes, in addition to enemy air defenses and airfields.

Maximus was fully aware that refugees would be trying to escape the country before his armies arrived, thus he wanted to destroy as many escape routes as possible. After all, these people were not mere heretics. They were traitors. To allow any to escape his wrath and that of God would be to allow criminals to escape justice. That was one thing he could not allow.

In the mean time, the fleet would be reaching the country within a day and a half or so, so it was crucial the fleet's air arm do as much damage as possible in the time alotted.

Maximus was most pleased that the vast majority of involved nations had heeded his warnings and took their money graciously. He was rather surprised; he had expected to encounter a bit more stubbornness. It was, of course, God's Will. Not much Doomani blood would be shed over this pathetic mud hole; the same could not be said for the infidel.

Something caught the corner of Caesar's eye and he turned, looking out the window as the first of the fleet's Acredula medium bombers shot from a nearby aircraft carrier. It was magnifiscent to watch: sleek, fast aircraft shooting from the decks of these massive super-carriers in rapid succession, rocketing off into the fog.

"Send out the following order:" commanded Caesar, "Kill them all. God will know his own."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The bombers quickly formed into squadrons, operating rather loosely. This would be more of a search and destroy mission than anything; there weren't many targets that had been assigned in the first place, and a single bomber could neutralize multiple targets.

As a result, the initial wave of one hundred-twenty bombers targetted enemy air defense installations and vehicles. Utilizing passive RADAR seeking, they homed in on the signals generated by the enemy RADARs and dual-purpose missiles (utilizing a number of guidance systems ranging from infrared, to passive radar seeking, to GPS and inertial guidance, equipped with munitions dispensors) from one hundred-twenty miles away. Because the Acredulas were so stealthy and launching at a very long range, it was unlikely the primitive Sovistani RADARs would have a snowball's chance in hell of even coming close to detecting the aircraft; by the time they realized there was an inbound missile it would be too late.

They would have been well on the way of having a munitions dispensor pop nearby, showering them with a mix of fragmenting and shaped charge bomblets.

If there were bombers in that formation that lacked targets due to there being only a small amount of Sovistani air defenses in the first place (and each bomber carried a total of twelve DPMs internally), they would then move on towards the airfields. Once more they would use stand-off tactics in targetting control towers, hangars, barracks, terminals, fuel depots, and ammunition depots with cluster munitions.

This was only a temporary solution. The next wave of another one hundred-fifty were equipped with 2,000lb laser and GPS guided bombs, and would be more able to deal some more permenant damage to the airfields.

Of course, there was most likely a disproportionate amount of bombers to operating airfields (i.e., ones that had been operating prior to the Imperial air attack), thus they would be able to use their payloads in more creative ways. These included hunting down enemy armor and infantry formations and putting a 2000lb warhead directly on top of them, or destroying refugee convoys, or what were percieved to be occupied enemy structures. It was purely up to the pilots in that case.

And they were free to roam throughout the country if it came to targets of oppurtunity, so long as they had the fuel to make a successful return home.

Following these aircraft was one final wave of one hundred fifty bombers, laden completely with a mixture of napalm and fuel air explosives. Carrying a total of eight-thousand pounds of this ordnance both internally and externally, they would pound every city, town, and village they happened upon, often reverting to strafing attacks on individuals and vehicles in the open with their 30mm cannons when their bombs had been unloaded, or simply pumping the 30mm high-expolsive incindiery rounds into random homes in order to spread terror.

This was only a hint of the carnage to come, for soon the Legionaries would begin hitting the beaches...

Premier Siudzin read the reports of the first Doomingsland bombs striking the precious new AA equipment grimly.
"How many MiGs are left?"
"About 9, sir."
"Forget them. Get the pilots into Hinds, have them support the infantry. Any idea what we can do to stop these bombers?"
"Pretty much nothing, sir. The Triumf's should be able to down a few, but not enough to make a difference. The other SAMs will probably have been trashed by the time they even come in range."
"Hm." Siudzin sat for a while. "So, in essence, we can't do a damn thing except sit in these bunkers and wait for them to flatten everything over 10 feet tall in the nation, then watch them kill everything that moves?"
The aide leafed through a few papers on his clipboard.
"Uh. Yeah, pretty much."
"Well, it's happened before. Has the rocket artillery arrived yet?"
"Yes, it began crossing our borders late last night."
"Right, tell them to get co-ordinates from the infantry- the moment those Doomingsland ships start dropping barges, just blow the damn things out of the water- tell them to keep their distance, and stay out of enemy range. That is, if there are any left by their attack. But even a couple could do us a lot of good."
The aide nodded, and began scribbling the orders down for transmissions.
"And if they get any landers through, don't hesitate to gas their infantry."

----

The new "triumf" launchers had boosted the total to a meagre 40, and they began firing their payloads towards the enemy bombers, which had shown their own positions with long range missile strikes. Hopefully, the missiles' guidance systems would be able to seek out a few aircraft once they got near the target. The remaining S-300s would simply have to wait until the enemy closed range to open fire.

Greetings. Pertaining to the ongoing crisis in Sovistan, Kelonia has a request to make; we would like to fly a humanitarian rescue mission from your airspace, in order to assist the rescue of a group of high-ranking Sovistani citizens that we feel would be at extra risk were they to attempt to cross the border with the other refugees; citizens that would not be willing to risk the extra danger of massing at the border. This will not be a large mission, limited to 5 aircraft, only one of which would be armed.

We would not be asking for such a gratuitous favour were it not for the highest of humanitarian causes. You will of course be able to inspect all aircraft and escort the planes to and from your border should you want to. Any response will have to be prompt, to ensure this mission can be carried out before any further slaughter is instituted.

You understand, of course, that this mission must be instituted under the utmost secrecy, known only to the highest levels of government - I cannot overstate the importance of this to the security of our nations.

Thank you for your time,
Vice Premier Teran Arminijan

OOC: Nicely done.

IC; The higher ranking Sovistan officials waited at the agreed airstrip- Siudzin had been reluctant to leave, but the cabinet had persuaded him that more good could be done from afar. They had a small military guard around the base, but no armed vehicles for fear of arousing the suspicion of enemy bombers. A minister leaned over the the Premier.
"Josef, did you decide who to leave in charge of the men?" Siudzin grunted in annoyance at his thoughts being interrupted.
"Yes, I've put General Leonid in charge."
"Leonid? Sir! Are you..."
"Now, Kobyla, I have complete faith in Lukin. Albeit he can be a little... Overzealous at times, he has proved himself more that capable of handling an insurgency. And the men like him. " He turned to Kobyla "Now leave me be. I have things to think about."
The minister stalked off, furious.

----

In a small bunker near the capital, General Leonid was sat in the Premier's old chair, browsing through the reports. Leonid was a stocky man, with a thin beard and greying hair. He also represented the most of extremist members of the party- Siudzin had always kept him on a tight reign, for fear that too much freedom might give him the wrong ideas. The Premier had established a moderate socialist regime, and had intended to keep it that way.
But Leonid's hardline policies had saved Sovistan before. As the government was being set up, several enterprising types had siezed control of a huge portion of the iron and lead mines in the nation. Their corporate greed could economically have brought the nation to its knees- If Leonid hadn't intervened. While the government debated the positives and negatives of intervention, Leonid had simply taken the troops under his command and stormed the territories being held by the new elite, sweeping aside the private guards and militias guarding the precious resources, and forcing the majority of corporate sympathisers into exile. Those higher up in the corps were arrested. Although there had been an outcry at Leonid's actions, Siudzin recognised that he had saved the nation from disaster. Nonetheless, he resolved to keep a closer eye on the general from that point on.
Now, howewver, General Lukin Leonid had finally been given the chance to take real control. He knew that the occupiers, after a liberal dose of genocide, would give power to the scum who wished to exploit the people and run the nation into the ground, be it through fake elections or forced dictatorship. Not while he had any say in it. He called an aide over.
"The "New Elite" leaders are still being held at Citaspect prison, aren't they?" He asked.
"Uhhh... Yes, general. Around 50 of them."
"Good. Have them shot."
"Sir?"
"We can't have a destabilising influence like that in the nation at a time like this. You remember that the majority of citizens were in favour of executions from the start, don't you lieutenant?"
"Right, sir. I'll have the order sent through."

DIS Remus, Imperial Crusader Armada

As the sun broke over the horizon, a brilliant spectacle awaited the returning bomber pilots as they began landing on their respective carriers to refuel and rearm and, if lucky, get a moment's rest.

Damage reports began to file in to the Remus regarding enemy ground targets hit: thus far, the enemy's air defenses had been virtually annihilated by the first wave. As far as satellite and ELINT could tell, at least. There very well could have been triple-A hidden somewhere, not needing precious RADAR to target low flying aircraft. That was bound to become a problem sometime down the line.

Of course, as long as the Sovistanis continued to try to fight the Doomani with advanced technology, they would probably fail. Their RADAR equipment was especialy vulnerable, which would more or less render their surface-to-air missiles useless.

Emperor Maximus III recognized that the real fight would begin when the Sovistanis turned to low-tech weaponry and more underhanded tactics; the one bane of a modern army. Once they received enough punishment and learned their lesson through pain, they would no doubt begin to see just how they would be able to defend themselves against the men coming to butcher them.

Until then, Maximus' army would have fun homing in on the enemy's radios and RADAR and putting bombs right on top of them.

Imperial Marine Legions would soon be storming the shores of Sovistan; within hours, as a matter of fact. The Sovistanis would finally have an opportunity to take revenge on their attackers once that occurred.

The Remus was breaking off from the carriers and heading towards the front at full sprint. The Emperor would be commanding the battle from his bridge in order for him to witness the movement and situation of his army firsthand, something he found to be important.

Once the beachhead had been secured, he himself would go ashore to personally lead the push towards the capital. Until then, there was a beachhead that had to be taken, and this battle promised to be one involving much bloodshed on both sides.

The Doomani currently did not know of the Sovistanis' deployment of rocket artillery, and, if deployed correctly, that would certainly be extremely effective against Imperial troops as they came ashore. Maximus, of course, suspected the Sovistani Army would be capable of inflicting some heavy casualties initially, as they'd had plenty of time to prepare.

The bombers couldn't have possibly annihilated their ground forces at this point, and so he was wary. But, as the saying goes, no plan survives contact with the enemy. Especially a competent one. The men the Marines were about to go up against were well-motivated: they knew what would happen to their families and themselves if they were defeated, thus they had a reason to fight hard.

The Doomani weren't planning on taking any prisoners at this point, and for good reason. There simply wasn't any point in expecting mass-surrenders.

Caesar and his generals had planned this initial attack as best they could, the emphasis being on a swift, crushing victory. If victory could not be achieved quickly, Caesar's men were fully prepared to sacrifice themselves for God and Emperor in droves. It did not matter to them how many must die: there was one goal, and that was to bring the Crusade to a successful conclusion. Death meant martyrdom, and thus was certainly not feared.

NID Naulocus, Classis XXIV

Naulocus was just one of a dozen Vespa-class amphibious dock ships in Classis XXIV. Like the others, it housed close to one thousand blood-thirsty, fanatical Marinus Doomanus along with tanks, VTOL transports, and various types of hovercraft. The first to hit the beaches would, of course, be the air mobile infantry, whose goal would be to seize all vantage points overlooking the beach, and sweep around the beach a bit further inland in order to cause havoc amongst the defenders (if there were any, at this point).

Trenturion Adeodatus Spurius Servius was amongst the blessed ones: one of the first to step upon the soil of the infidel in this crusade. He and the rest of his air mobile century would be flown five miles inland and dropped off to carry out their mission: search and destroy. Their primary mission would be to interdict and delay any reinforcements inbound towards the beach and destroy any targets of opportunity during their patrol behind enemy lines.

As the guns of the escort ships began to spout flames, the Marines boarding the transport looked towards the beach they would be assaulting. It was distant, but they could tell it had been hit pretty badly already. With a total of six heavy cruisers, a pocket super dreadnaught, and a few dozen destroyers and frigates hammering away at the beach with guns ranging from 37mm gattling guns to twenty-five inch electro-thermal chemical guns, it looked as though the gates of hell had been thrown open on that beach.

Servius had seen this plenty of times before; he had served under Caesar in the previous two crusades, and had thus seen more than his fair share of warfare in the past five years. He bore many scars, but those were now concealed behind an armored NBC helmet/visor system, featuring built-in filtration and various electronic systems, such as a HUD and built-in radio. Of course the Doomani were well aware of the current environmental situation in Sovistan- they were the ones who had caused it in the first place!

None the less, such equipment was standard in the Imperial Army (unlike most nations, the Marines were actually part of the Imperial Army, as Marines first had to go through the brutal Legionary training program in order to serve as a Marine). Doomanum commonly utilized chemical and biological weapons in its bloody campaigns on the unbeliever, thus such equipment was a necessity. The Marines, standing atop the deck of the vessel, began to march up the ramps of their ACI-68F vertical-take off transports in perfect formation, their armored boots clanking on the steel deck sharply and precisely.

Even with their scarred, hardened faces hidden, they looked to be a formidable force. Each of the men aboard this transport had seen battle before, as evidenced by crosses along their helmets and visors drawn in the blood of those they had killed. They were clad in the black BDUs and armor that distinguished the Marines from regular Legionaries, with the traditional trident, eel, and cross sewn onto the left shoulder guard of their armor. As the aircraft began to taxi, the twenty-four men of the Trenturia (platoon) sat down in their seats, strapping themselves in. They would be traveling at high speed- with the rear door open. This would allow the rear door gunner, clad in similar armor to the infantry, to fire his 15.7mm minigun at targets below.

After strapping themselves in, Servius flashed the aircraft’s crew chief a quick salute, signaling that they were all good to go. He, in turn, pounded on the cockpit door, signaling to the pilots that the crew and cargo was prepared for takeoff. He began to pray as the aircraft’s engines lit up and accelerated, shooting them right off of the deck. The aircraft began to bank, turning towards the beach and accelerating.

Below them, hovercraft began to blaze across the surface of the water towards the beach. Smaller armored hovercraft, equipped with 23mm chain guns, carried dozens of infantry at a time, while larger craft carried tanks and other armored vehicles. Within a few minutes, the war would begin in earnest…

The first reports of enemy activity came from the spotters at the top of the dunes. Several dozen of them had already been killed by artillery fire, but the Commanders insisted on replacing them with more fresh soldiers. As news got back to command of the incoming Doomingsland airboats, the infantry and armour were ordered to advance to the beachheads, taking care to keep the main bulk of their force hidden behind dunes. Infantry teams began tugging the shiny new minigun turrets up to the crests, where they could oversee an enemy landing.

-----

Only four of the twenty hinds were left, and they began to take off from airports now heavily scarred from enemy bombing runs. The had orders to strafe the beachead in groups of two, to remove any fortified enemy positions.

-----

As the infantry began advancing, the men fiddled with their AK-103s and toyed with their respirators. There were a lot more of them, now. Thousands, in fact, as more began arriving from locations and posts rendered useless from the loss of the navy and airforce.

As the ACI-68s passed over the beachhead, the pilots were quickly thrown into a state of shock at finding the mass of enemy forces advancing towards the beachhead. Live footage shot from the aircraft was immediately beamed back to the fleet, which immediately knew what was afoot.

UCAVs were launched from rails on the cruisers and dreadnaughts, and quickly swarmed over the beach, taking up positions high above in order to give commanders real time video feed of enemy troop movements. This would be paramount in victory.

Thus far, the enemy had proved to be rather...incompetant. Maximus especialy was rather surprised at the lack of prepared defenses on the part of the enemy. The fact the enemy actualy had to scale the dunes and set up their crew-served weapons while Imperial troops swarmed towards the beach was most amusing to the Doomani command staff.

The first to fire on Sovistani forces were the VTOL aircraft, strafing ground units with 127mm rockets and 30mm cannons, making but a single straight pass before continuing on towards their objectives further inland. As they passed over enemy forces, the door gunners, staring through their high-powered electronic scopes, began lighting up enemy infantry and thin-skinned vehicles with a steady hail of 15.7x131mm SLAP ammunition from their gattling guns.

Mere seconds after the initial strafing run, the fleet's artillery fire shifted from random bombardment of the beach to shelling of the incoming enemy infantry and armor formations from both the ships, and from medium bombers just arriving overhead, liberally dispensing hundreds of 500lb laser guided bombs, targetting infantry formations and invidual tanks and armored vehicles. Fire from the fleet included five-inch, six-inch, and twelve-inch shells, both normal high explosive and cluster munitions carry rounds. Classis XXIV alone, just one of the two fleets, had well over a hundred 152mm rapid-fire naval guns hammering away at the infantry as they swarmed over open terrain, spilling thousands and thousands of grenade-sized bomblets about the infantry.

The Remus brought her formiddable array of twenty-eight rapid fire six-inch guns to bear on the advancing enemy along with her sixteen mighty twenty-seven point five inch guns.

Not an inch of terrain was left untouched by the Doomani artillery- from the peak of the dune upon which the enemy machineguns were being placed back, the artillery pounded everything spotted by the UAVs and sattelites relentlessly, putting out over ten-thousand shells of varrying calibers down on the incoming forces within the first ten minutes alone. That, combined with the overhead bombers further targetting whatever managed to get by the artillery made for a truely dazzling spectacle- provided you weren't on the recieving end.

As the artillery rained down, the first of the hovercraft hit the beaches. The rear ramps of the troop carriers dropped to the beach, and thousands of Imperial Marines spilled out unto the beach like a hoard of ants. The larger craft arrived simultaneously and their frontal ramps dropped, and out drove their cargo of MAD.IV Imperator main battle tanks.

As these units reached the beach, the artillery fire began to rapidly die down to avoid friendly fire incedents. This, of course, would give any survivors a little bit of time to reorganize and mount a defense. No time was wasted by the Marines in quickly advancing towards the dune in order to secure the top: as long as it was occupied by the enemy, Imperial Forces would be in a very vulnerable position.

Thus, within minutes of their disembarking, units of infantry, covered by friendly machinegun positions that had been quickly set up, along with heavy armor, steadily advanced up the dune.

Thousands of heavily armed and armored black-clad men began pouring up that hill. From the fleet, men aboard the ships noted that it was reminiscent of a mass of insects, all single-mindedly and fanatically swarming a particular objective. That's what these men were: single-minded fanatics. They would not stop until either the last of their foe had been slaughtered, or until they themselves had been gloriously martyred for their faith. This was Crusade: there was no room for retreat; to do so would be nothing short of blasphemy, and these men had been trained all their lives to die rather than comit such a heinous act.

In the teams of infantry, a few men pulled launchers onto their shoulders. Strela missile launches were hastily locked onto enemy gunships devastating the first lines of infantry, and soon rockets began shrieking into the sky, their ancient and minimal targetting systems gently nudging them towards the targets.

----

As the first enemy troops began unload, the order was given from the front. Behind the dunes, the Frog 9 and BMC-30 missile launchers let go their payloads- the rockets were unguided, but required minimal aiming as the enemy advanced en masse. The first salvo arced up over the dunes, causing huge detonations where they landed on the beach. The barbed wire and tanktraps had been swept aside by the artillery barrage, so the infantry used their chance to hastily fortify the face of the dune while the enemy would hopfully be faltering from the artillery barrage.

----

5 men struggled up the top of the dune, holding between them a barrel of petrol.
"God, this is heavy! Drop it!"
"Open it, open it!" One of them shouted, as they dropped the barrel and began rolling it along the crest, spilling oil down the face of the dune. Several of them were shot before they finished the job, before diving back down behind cover, along with the other teams who had finished up. Seeing their job was done, a man from each team lit an alchohol soaked rag and threw it over onto the oil spills. There was a roar as the petrol caught, and flames engulfed the front of the dunes.
"Low budget defences, eh!" One of the soldiers shouted, grinning under his mask.

----

Leonid saw the smoke spring up through his binoculars- he had decided against the advice of his aides to attend the fight in person- he preferred to recieve reports and issue important orders closer to the front.
"Right, now move up onto the crest. Keep the rockets and howitzers pounding the beach, while we mount machineguns on the top and strafe anyone confident enough to run through fire."
"We're losing men, sir." Said an aide.
"It's a war, lieutenant. The enemy will fare far worse."

The incoming rocket artillery rounds caused damage that was easily noticable even from far off. The sheer size of the explosions from the FROG-7s blew groups of infantry completely apart; heavily damaging armored vehicles as well. The sheer number of BMC-30 rockets cut swathes of bloody destruction through the Marines, who were now, at this point, leaping into shell craters and taking cover.

The first wave of Marines had been utterly devastated by the well-timed artillery barrage, but there were just enough of them to hold onto the beach and keep from being pushed back into the sea.

Of course, sitting there and getting blown apart would do them no good: there was no place to go but forward.

As the oil was ignited along the dunes, it actualy benefitted the Marines as well as the Sovistanis. It screened them from enemy machinegun positions, allowing them to advance- once the last of the rockets had fallen -to the edge of the smoke.

The response to the enemy rocket attack was also most swift and terrible. The 5" and 6" guns of the fleet, utilizing counter-battery RADAR, quickly picked up on the rocket launches as they had commenced, and fired a return barrage. GPS guided shells packed with cluster munitions targetted the precise locations from which the rockets had been launched. There were literally several shells per rocket launcher impacting at a time, hopefully silencing them once and for all.

Meanwhile, 105mm autocannons and 37mm gattling guns on the ships commenced a preperatory bombardment, firing directly through the smoke and hitting all along the top of the dune and the face that the enemy was trying to fortify, while the Marines began to fix bayonets. The remaining tanks rolled up along with those troops, taking up supporting positions in front of the troops.

After about two minutes of constant heavy bombardment with 37mm high explosive-incindiery rounds and 105mm high explosive and delayed cannister shot (aided in targetting by the overhead UAVs, which would be able to see behind the smoke screen), the attack commenced, literally a second after the last shell had impacted the top of the dune, giving the enemy virtually no time to re-man the top.

The surviving Marines, spearheaded by Imperator tanks, began to appear out of the smoke like a mass of demons, black uniforms rising through black smoke. Trenturii of Marines moved behind the tanks, using them as cover as they began to advance up the hill. The tanks' 23mm coaxial autocannons and remote-controled 15.7mm machineguns targetted and unleashed barrages of suppressing fire on surviving enemy machinegun nests, firing 125mm HE-FRAG rounds into more heavily manned positions. They advanced at a rapid pace in order to prevent the enemy from bringing artillery to bear once more- if they were to do so, they would end up hitting their own men.

As the positions were being suppressed, the infantry carefully dashed up the dune, lobbing grenades over the top when they had gotten close enough before leaping over and opening up with their DR-83-IIs and skewering any man that was close enough with their bayonets.

As this attack commenced, the second wave of Marines began to hit the beaches. These fresh troops quickly surged forward to relieve the troops currently on the offensive and regenerate the assault. There would be no stopping now- there was only one direction for them to go, and that was forward.

Casualties had been much higher than anticipated. Of the ten thousand men in the first wave, seven out of ten had been killed or wounded (although the wounds were of varry grades- many of the men charging the hill had serious injuries but continued to fight on despite this out of sheer fanaticism).

All in all, it was turning out to be a downright bloody fight for both sides.

In the mean time, the ACI-68Fs that had passed over the beach had actualy taken some hits from the hastily fired Strellas. Because they were flying so low, this was simply unavoidable. Of course, they were built to take that kind of punishment, and many aircraft that had been hit managed to limp on to their objectives and dispense their cargos.

A few hadn't been so fortunate due to lucky shots by Sovistani gunners: several had been shot down short of their objectives, stranding the Marines and crew (most of whom had actualy managed to survive the violent crashes thanks to the superb protection of the aircraft) far from their objective, right in the enemy's operating area. These units hastily set up perimeters around their crash sites and prepared to hold off the enemy attacks that would inevitably follow. They didn't bother calling for evac, since there was still an objective to be taken.

They had no right to leave the battlefield at this stage if they could still pull the trigger on their sidearm.

Those that had not been shot down landed three miles behind the beachhead, dumped off their troops after saturating the landing zone with rocket, cannon and machinegun fire, lingered for a few minutes in order to suppress any nearby enemy troops (who would have minimal cover from the aircrafts' door guns, rockets, and cannons) and give the troops ample time to get organized before heading back to the fleet, strafing any enemy forces they encountered on the way back. The Marines that had been dropped off, if they were not immediately engaged, proceeded to fan out and dig in. It the enemy were to retreat from the beach, they would run smack into a line of dug in Marines.

The plan was now begining to unfold...

The enemy marines where beginning to crest the dunes, and the infantry advanced to slow them. Many of them had discarded their rifles for the PPSH SMGs, which would be more use in closer combat. Nonetheless, they were taking heavy casualties from the better trained and equipped enemies. Leonid watched the enemy advance for a few minutes, before ordering several platoons of Black Eagle tanks forward to push back the enemy advance. The artillery continued to fire on the beach behind the first wave, hoping to cut them off from any more landings.

----

The tank crews pushed the new tanks forward towards the battle, with the BMTs leading in front, loading HEAT shells to give the infantry some relief against the enemy marines.

OOC: You really need to be on MSN more :)

IC:

With the enemy's switch to the PPsH sub machineguns, they would soon notice their rounds would have even less affect on the Marines' body armor than previously. Their ceramic lamellar-style armor was more than enough to stop a 7.62x39mm round- the enemy had now switched to a weapon firing a round that had both a lower velocity and less weight, and thus less overall effect on the soldier they were trying to kill.

As a result, the Marines that had taken up positions on the crest were able to hold fast while the second wave sprinted forward to the dune to reinforce them.

Despite enemy artillery, the Marines had managed to gain a foothold at the crest of the dune, and more and more began to pour over and take up positions.

In response to the enemy's artillery, the fleet redoubled its efforts to knock out the enemy batteries. Using ballistic counter-battery RADAR, they tracked the trajectory of the enemy's shells and rockets and pinpointed the locations of the launchers and howitzers. Once this data had been acquired, each battery would recieve a massive bombardment of 5" and 6" GPS-guided naval shells to simply overwhelm the batteries with sheer volume and accuracy, more than enough to crush whatever surviving artillery the Sovistanis still had.

The arrival of enemy armor had coincided with the arrival of Imperial tanks at the crest. The Imperator tank crews quickly pinpointed the locations of the incoming hostile armor and they were immediately targetted. 125mm armor-piercing fin-discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds were slammed into the beaches of the 125mm electro-thermal chemical main guns of the heavily armored beasts and rounds were quickly sent downrange.

The rounds fired by the Imperators would be more than enough to easily blow through the frontal armor of the more primitive Black Eagle, and the superb accuracy of the guns and targetting systems would ensure a hit.

Within seconds of their detection, each enemy tank had a shell heading straight for it, and in the unlikely event of a miss or bad hit, a second round could be sent downrange immediately due to the quick reload times of the revolver-based autoloaders.

Meanwhile, Marines equipped with 125mm recoiless rifles targetted the lighter enemy vehicles, such as the BMTs, with tandemn HEAT warheads, allowing for them to make kills even if the enemy vehicle was equipped with explosive reactive armor.
The enemy tanks' use of HEAT rounds against infantry simply dumbfounded the Marines: that round was designed for destroying tanks, and thus had an extremely concentrated blast in order to penetrate armor- it lacked the larger blast radius and shrapnel of an infantry-killing round. It was not in the slightest suitable for targetting infantry because of this. Casualties from enemy tank fire was rather light due to their use of HEAT rounds.

As this was happening, the Marines turned their situation at the crest into an oppurtunity. They now had superb cover against the enemy counter-attack, and Marine machinegun crews set up within seconds and quickly began pouring rounds downrange while riflemen carefully but rapidly began firing single shots and two-round bursts of 6.7mm ammunition, accurately targetting oncoming enemy infantry with their superb marksmanship.

An ungodly amount of fire was being produced from the crest of that dune, and the Marines predicted that the enemy counter-attack would soon break and retreat under the cover of whatever indirect fire weapons the enemy still had intact after the massive counter-battery mission performed by the fleet.

OOC: (Armour than completely stops bullets? Oh, come on. Wearing that stuff would weigh a damn ton, there's no way you can expect a fast advance wearing that. And the black eagle's one the most advanced russian-model tanks around! And HEAT is an infantry clearing round. SABOT is the armour piercer. You must be confused, because those are the only two shells these tanks'll support. And what happened to the fire? It wasn't just there to blind me, you know. You kinda fired an ignore at it. Now, it looks like your forces are so far further into PMT than when I last fought you that even killing an individual soldier will be something to throw a party for. Try to bear in mindthe technology gap, last time I don't recall your men being equipped with stuff that hasn't yet been invented. WW2 stuff can't combat your equipment even slighty. I'm not flaming or anything, but in the interests of making this topic even slightly pointful from my side, please tell me if your men have any more amazing equipment I should know about before I lose my whole army out of plain ignorance. Do they have thermal vision? Scopes on their rifles that make them all sniper-capable? Auto-targetting systems?)

(And where did those tanks come from? Enough for each of my tanks to be targetted and destroyed immediately? That's one hell of a landing, considering they'd have to not only get on shore, but drive through the artillery barrage.)

----

The artillery trucks and launchers began coming under bombardment, so they were ordered to shift positions further back, hopefully out of range of the enemy weapons. They would have to stop the rocket fire for a few minutes while they relocated, so Leonid ordered a withdrawal to the thin trenchline that had already been bombarded by the Clandonian fleets. The miniguns began rattling rounds off towards the crest of the dune, but even the men could see it wasn't going well, as they hastily mounted more of the PKs and miniguns.

----

The four hinds made their first pass along the dunes, using their FFARs to give at least some relief to the retreating counter attack. Two were immediately hit by anti-air, crashing into the beaches before they'd even fired a single shot.

----

The retreating soldiers dumped as many satchel charges as they could as they retreated, but it was hard work considering that the marines had lost seemingly no men, at the cost of two platoons of vital Black Eagles and almost an entire battalion of infantry. To the soldiers on the ground, the enemy seemed invincible.

OOC:No, actualy the Black Eagle can support much more than HEAT and sabot...do some more research on tank rounds, the Russians have tons of different stuff they can shoot from their 125mm they have on that thing. HEAT is an anti-tank round, not infantry, look it up. It uses a shaped charge to create a jet stream of copper that basicly burns a hole through the armor of a tank, it is NOT a high explosive round in the sense most people tend to think of when they hear the term.

As for the body armor:

Current body armor fielded by American forces is capable of stopping 7.62x51mm NATO. That is a battle rifle cartridge and is much more powerfull than the 7.62x39mm round fired by your Kalashnikovs. That body armor is also fully well capable of stopping that 7.62x39mm Soviet round (from what I've heard a ceramic trauma plate will stop one of those rounds and get shattered, but it'll still stop it), just look at the Interceptor body armor being used in Iraq. Again, this is armor that is in use now IRL.

Now, the rounds fired by the PPsH are even smaller than the 7.62x39mm round, which current body armor is already capable of stopping. It fires the 7.62x25mmTT cartridge, which is actualy a pistol round. This is a round that has both a slower velocity and less mass than the regular 7.62mm Soviet and therefore less enegry; ceramic plates are going to stop them rather easily, and multiple impacts at that.

The body armor in use by my forces is a bit more advanced than the ones I just described but not a great deal so. The design is based on medieval lamellar-style armor; in this case it uses multiple smaller overlapping plates that wrap fully around the torso, giving full protection against rifle-caliber rounds as opposed the systems that use a single plate that would only protect a section of the chest. This allows for more energy distribution when the round impacts, making it both more survivable, and greatly lowering the odds of a plate being hit more than once (when you fire a burst at a guy the fire is going to walk upward, so you'd be hitting different plates). Similar armor (using a scale mail layout instead of lamellar, although I think the Chinese are toying around with a lamellar configuration) is already being tested (and if I'm not mistaken, being fielded on a very limited level) as of now.

Yes, you are definitely correct in that this armor is going to be heavier. It weighs allot more than current systems, but it's worth it. I don't think the advance is going to be that much slower; these guys are disgustingly well trained and in superb physical condition and used to carrying such a load due to a life of conditioning and training. Other equipment? Well, they have their NBC helmet with the HUD and thermal and infrared and all that fancy electronic crap...but other than that nothing really noteworthy. Their scopes are 1-6x zoom red dot/mil dot scopes, also fully MT, not gonna make them sniper worthy but their long range marksmanship is still gonna be awesome while still allowing them to use the scopes in CQB.

Besides, you did succeed in killing more troops than I lost in that entire last war in about twenty or so minutes of fighting :)

The tanks? Those were landed with them. You said you only brought up a few platoons of tanks, and as far as I know there's only 3-4 tanks in a tank platoon (you may be using some other system of organization in which case I apologize for my assumption), so I'm pretty sure I'd have enough tanks to counter your's. You have to remember you're rockets are unguided, so I assumed there would be at the very least 15 surviving tanks...

As for the fire...that's my fault. I went back and reread it...I misread it the first time. I thought you had a shallow trench along the face of the hill and you were filling that up with oil. That was my fault and I'm gonna add casualties to my final count to account for that.

Although I am a bit confused as to how your rocket launchers have managed to keep continuous fire on my units. Your MLRSs are gonna have a salvo of twelve rockets each (if it is the BM-30 you're actualy using) before you have to reload the thing, and that's gonna take 5+ minutes just to do that, much longer for the FROG-7s and you only have one shot with those. Not to mention I went and did counter-battery fire right after your first barrage with well over two hundred 12", 6", and 5" guns per fleet with GPS-guided cluster munitions shells (mixed anti-armor and personel, so it'll blow through the roof of an armored howitzer or rip a truck to pieces with shrapnel) on the spots you fired from and put quite a few rounds into each battery, and then I just did it again...but yeah, don't worry about it for now. We both made our own mistakes so just leave it at that and continue where we are now.

I hate making massive OOC posts, so let's deal with any issues via TG from now on.

IC:

With the second wave finally arriving on scene at the dune, the few that remained of the first wave were able to take a breather. Most of them had been killed or wounded before they had even reached the dune; they had seen some very hard fighting. And it was by no means over. The enemy had fallen back to an even stronger defensive position, one that promised to do to the second wave what had been done to the first wave.

Of course, the arrival of the Hinds had done no good for the Marines. Although two of them had been blown out of the sky from a combination of fleet anti-air and heavy small arms fire, the strafing run of the second two seriously dented second wave. The infantry had consolidated along the crest and were highly vulnerable to an FFAR run as executed by the helicopters, walking the rockets right down the line, tearing men to pieces with shrapnel, creating a storm of broken flesh.

Fire from 37mm CIWS guns on the ships quickly met the helicopters as they executed the strafing run as did Marine machinegun, rifle, and missile fire, but the damage had been done.

Sporadic exchanges of fire between Doomani and Sovistani machingun positions continued amidst all of this, but it was largely ineffective on both sides of the firefight. It was mere formality in this battle. The real damage would not come until the Marines were ready to assault the trenches; once that happened men on both sides would die in droves.

As the third and final wave of Marines made its way out towards the beach so did Emperor Maximus III and his own elite guard, the Equites Singulares Augusti. The attack had been carried on far enough for him to personaly step onto the field along with his most elite troops and personally lead what would hopefully be the final assault in this battle.

In the mean time, orders were sent to the air-mobile Marines that had been deployed behind the enemy lines: they were instructed to move on and prepare to assault the enemy's trench line from the rear. From their positions they had established the force arose and marched at the double time the two or so miles to the pre-designated staging area, just out of sight of the enemy trench line. They would take up positions behind the enemy trench and attempt to do so as quietly as possible. They would advance from that position in an assault coinciding with a massive artillery bombardment in order to distract enemy forces.

Meanwhile, the movement of the enemy artillery was picked up by friendly satellites and UAVs. Acredula medium bombers and Aquila air superiority fighters were quickly tasked to neutralize them by Imperial commanders.

Going off of data gained from the satellites and UAVs, the Acredulae would quickly release 2,000lb GPS-guided glide bombs from miles away from the enemy artillery. The only indication the enemy would have of the approach of the bombs would be the explosion that occured after they hit their targets; this would be followed by a strafing run by the Aquilae utilizing 23mm cannons.

Caesar knew that once he finished off the enemy artillery, his victory would come quickly. Doing so would deprive them of their main means of upsetting his assault, leaving the encircled enemy army to its own devices.

As the third wave began to arrive, Caesar was the first to step off of the ramp of his landing craft. He was greeted by the putrid stench of charred human flesh and the screams of dying men. How many times had he seen this before?

Far too many...and yet not enough, he thought to himself as he rallied his Equites.

The scene around him was one of pure carnage. In every direction you looked there were droves and droves of corpses; horribly mutilated and disfigured, many completely disemboweled or ripped apart, the intestines spilt onto the sand. Maximus counted at least fifty individual torsos lacking arms, legs, and heads right away. Both the sand and water had turned completely red with the blood of the Marines. The dead bodies and charred, burning hulks of destroyed armored vehicles littered the beach; it was a scene out of a nightmare.

Maximus was clad in the same uniform and armor as his men, only with a crested helmet and a golden cross emblazoned on his breastplate. He was recognizable amongst his men as none other than Caesar Himself from his trademark armor. He was a man that commanded attention to himself wherever he roamed; such was the case this day.

His centurions gathered around him while the Equites fanned out and carefully and precisely moved about the beach along with the other Marines that had just come ashore with them. He looked to each of his centurions. Like him, their faces were concealed behind a filtering mask, but he knew each of them; he had fought along side them many times before and trusted them with his life. They also knew their beloved Emperor would never foolhardily send them to a pointless death: he was considered a good and honorable man by all Doomani.

”We’re going to be hitting their lines soon, brothers. Tell your men to prepare for a hard fight, as always. The Sovistii have proven worthy foes thus far, and I doubt they will disappoint us when we cross that field,” he nodded soberly towards the crest.

He began to boldly march towards the front his commanding centurions flanking him on either side, ”Let us spill much heathen blood. God knows enough of the faithful have been martyred this day…” as he spoke, the bloodied Marines along the top of the ridge noted his presence and greeted him with Roman-style salutes and cheers, which he promptly returned.

He was approached by a Tribune, the commander on this section of the battlefield. Salutes were exchanged,

”Ave, Caesar. What is your will?” the patrician officer asked his Emperor.

”We’re going to be crossing over soon, Tribune. These men gathered around us have the honor of crushing their lines once and for all.” Maximus responded authoritavely.

The two proceeded to converse and were joined by a few more officers as they continued. Preparations and planning went quickly, and as planned, the fleet began its bombardment of the enemy trench line.

It was magnificent. All were deafened as virtually every piece of artillery sitting off the coast of Sovistan opened fire. The very Earth upon which the men stood on was shaken by the impact of the gigantic twenty-seven point five inch shells of the Remus smashing along the trench. This was supplemented by hundreds and hundreds of small five and six inch shells, along with heavy twelve, twenty, and twenty-five inch shells from larger ships. Maximus himself stood surveying his bombardment from the crest, one hand on the barrel of his rifle, the butt dug into the sand, staring through the electronic zoom lens of his helm as the shells impacted across the field. He knew what would soon be coming, for he was the one who had commanded it.

As thousands of shells of varying calibers rained death on the Sovistanis, the Marines behind their trench lines quietly began to advance, stopping and taking cover occasionally.

Standing upon the crest, Maximus turned to the men before him, ”My brothers! We have come today to this blasphemous land to do the Lord’s Will! He hath commanded the faithful to spread the blood of the unbeliever. I say to you, let Christ wait no longer for the souls of the damned to stand judgment! DEUS VULT!” he roared as Imperial machineguns all along the line began to rake the enemy trench.

The Imperator tanks surged forward over the crest and the infantry formed up behind them, advancing behind while firing suppressively towards the enemy trench with their weapons, moving in a precise manner allowing for the maximum amount of firepower to be put into the trench.

Infantry and armor alike fired their weapons into the trench as the shells continued to rain down on the enemy. As they advanced, the satchel charges began to go off, blowing scores of men to pieces, knocking treads off of tanks, and generally making a mess of things. Men fell left and right, torn asunder by hot lead and shrapnel; and yet they pressed on, Caesar moving with his subjects through the living hell that was this barren field...

OOC:I didn’t RP the air mobile guys assaulting behind the trench yet…I’ll RP what they do when this assault is going on once you post whether or not you detect their advance or not (if they get into position undetected, just assume they advance in a similar manner as the guys attacking from the other direction during that assault in your post).

"But Lord Protector... Sovistan is but a piece of snow... we have thousands of miles of snow sir... what is the purpose?", questioned the frail Consul of Economics as he adjusted his glasses, following closely the Supreme Consul of the Coalition as they walked through the dark halls of the Mansion Complex. "Today Sovistan, tomarrow the Western Provinces. Doomingsland must be stopped before they gain a foothold, and by god they will be.", replied Fortinbraz. The two men continued into a room filled with multiple generals, all dressed in their black military uniforms, standing in unanimity as the Lord Protector entered the room. "At ease gentlemen. I suppose the plan I have requested assembled is finished Marshal Brooks?", questioned Fortinbraz as he took his seat at the head of the long glass table. "Yes sir, I have had sufficient forces repositioned to the Sovistani Border, Operation Icey Tomb only requires your approval.", responded the Commander as he stood from his seat, pressing some sort control panel which illuminated Army Locations along the Sovistani Border. "We have been controlling Refugee Influx for some time... but as you can see, overwhelming forces are in position. The fact of the matter is Doomingsland is going to lose the war of logistics. Their soldiers will starve and die on the beaches of Sovistan as they become bogged down in this war of attrition. We on other hand... have a significant advantage. Sir, the order is all I need.", continued the bearded, highly decorated General. Fortinbraz stood, placing his hands on the desk before him. "I, Lord Protector and Supreme Consul of the Impirical Coalition of Kroando hereby grant permission to the members of this council to wage total and unrestricted warfare upon any nation impeding the Coalitionist Ideology in the region of Sovistan... may He grant us victory." The men of the room stood, placing their clenched fists over their hearts, shouting in unison. "Coalition Forever."

Events were in motion... the men of the Northern Legions were now mobilized once again... men that had not seen combat since the last Coalitionist Crusade against the Eastern Mongols... Doomingsland was to be interesting indeed.

"General, all forces are to be placed on hold. Not one moved across that border... the issue has been solved, hold your ground.", spoke Fortinbraz into a cell phone as he entered a black limo. "Yes... it is all taken care of. Good evening General...", the Consul hung up the phone, looking over a copy of the agreement that had just been signed with Doomingsland. The ports of Sovistan would be available for purchase, and that is what he wanted... but what really gave him a grin was the solution to the air quality problem. That toxic gas that blew into his nation... it would dissapear within months. All was well in Kroando.
