In the Name of All that is Holy

Theocratic Revolt

God. A simple word on the surface of it. Three letters. One syllable. But this word, and variations on it, have caused so much suffering. It saddens me to think how His name has been sullied by the work of those who would be his servants. Murder. Rape. Pillaging. Torture. Just a few of the crimes which can be laid at the feet of the faithful.

Mentocroces- an ancient Thrllian (Thrll is the pre-revolt name of Theocratic Revolt) philospher on faith.

The dying damned were screaming. Highfather Phillip the Thirty-fourth lowered his head. He had no desire for this part of The Work, but it was necessary. Those here, those burning, and those hanging on the crosses, were the last of the old government. The ones who had opressed the faithful, no matter their creed.

God had demanded their deaths, as the last part of the purifying of That-Which-Had-Been Thrll, as he had demanded that their purification be televised to the world.

His head still lowered, the Highfather began speaking, in the tones that had stirred congregations of every faith and sect across the land to revolution, in basements and forests, usually in the dead of night.

"Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name." He said, as behind him, the dying howled in anguish. As the Highfather finished his prayer, a few moments later, he raised his head.

"I care not what God you follow, or how you interpret his word. Today a blow has been struck for all those who would worship, or not, as their faith dictates. The Thrll government has been struck down, and now Faith reigns in the new nation of Theocratic Revolt. I call upon all those opressed across the globe, forced to worship a God they do not believe in, or forbidden to worship One they do, to take heed. The opressors, by the will of God, can be struck down. Freedom and prosperity can reign. That is all."

"Hey, I read in the paper that some dude lead a revolt against the goverment of some nation because they oppressed the people over religion." James commented to Jim, who was working in the next cube. "Lets do the same and overthrow our goverment."
"But we aren't oppressed. Anyone can be any faith." Jim replied as he looked up from his computer where he was playing free-cell.
"Oh, then I'm going to get a cup of coffee, want one?" He asked as he got up.
"Sure, three packs of sugar?"

ooc: I'd guess a panthiest nation with strong Norse religious overtones.
Nice intro, can't really do much(at least in my nation)

OOC: What form of Christianity are you?

OOC: Myself the player, none. The nation... is complicated. The High Council (legislative branch, required to approve all major actions by the Highfather) is made up of a Protestant, a Catholic, a Muslim, a Hindu, an Atheist, and some weird guy who worships trees. The Highfather himself is a Monotheist, of an unusual Thrllian religion known as (surprise) Thrllism. It has connections to Christianity, among them being the recurrence of the cross as a religious symbol, but sees Jesus not as the son of God, but actually a false prophet sent to tempt mankind, the cross therefore being revered for the role it played in destroying the false prophet.

That help?
