The ILSRD Space Station (MT, always looking for new relations)

Live feed to all world news channels showed the astronught, a man in a large space suit hanging on the side of the new International League of Space Research and Development (ILSRD) International Space Station. His name was Colonel Q. Neander, a UES astronaught chosen to make the maiden initiation of the new station. There were dozens of news cameras, some hooked up to the side of the craft, some held nearby by astronughts, and some hooked up to the hanging sattellite transmitters themselves. All however, were focused on this one man. He began to speak, "Ladies and Gentlemen of the international community... I give you the ILSRD Space Station." Thousands watched live from their homes worldwide as he continued, "This station will revolutionize Space Research forever. It well surpasses what scientists would have estimated possible only years ago. Now, without further ado," he picked up a bottle of expensive champaign and held it next to the station's outer shell. "I hereby launch this station in the name of the ILSRD!" He then smashed the bottle against the station's side. Thousands watched as bottle pieces and liquid slowly floated away. Back at mission command, there were cheers and yells for joy. On this day, December 1st, 2006, let it be known the ILSRD Station was officialy put into permanent use.

Below is a "fact sheet" on the station:
Space Station (named Station 1 until a better more suitable name is found)
has the following features:
-4 full size shuttle docking ports
-2 smaller emergency exit ports
-A 6 chamber facility, each facility is connected to the other, but each is self reliant, so multiple nations can take there own facility but still meet with other nation's astronaughts
-The usual shuttle like accomodations (the obvious, several bathrooms, space suit stations, control rooms, etc.)
-1 main "Fuel Storage Center", which powers the station, and can re-fuel up any docked up spacecraft (the fuel source can also be re-filled itself by re-fueling spacecraft)
-1 main solar light power center (although there will always be fuel in the storage center, this solar power chamber will significantly lessen the fuel consumption. The solar power can also provide enough power to provide neccessaties for astronaughts living on the station, i.e. proper sewage, cooking, lights, and other basic living features can remain powered by this solar system even if the oil is gone)
-enough facilities to house up to 100 astronaughts, although it may be a tight fit (realistically, it can house 50, but heay...)
-contains 2 satelite "light retrieval" spacecraft, made to sit in the hangar (special on-board docks) of the station and has the ability to retrive sattelites, slow moving asteroids, or even damaged space ships (alhtough it cannot fly far, and definately cannot survive a flight down back to Earth
-8 cylinder missile launch weapon system, the station's only armament. It was designed only for extreme issues. The primary function of the space station is research and all other peacetime activities, but nobody quite knows what the future holds. If in the future, if space ships are capable of firing missiles, the station needs some sort of defence. The 8 missile tubes will be filled with specialy fitted Patriot missiles, capable of locking onto targets and completely annhilating them.
-N.T. Esuatu Supercomputer (a recent developement in the UES, this supercomputer calcuates almost everything that a space station needs i.e. plots courses, calculates orbit, finds space locations, etc.)
-The Backerbloc Air UES Radio Code (BARC) is a system that allows you to use the station only if you know the code, which is a incredibly complex code of radio signals, recognized by the space station's supercomputers. The code may be changed at will periodically. The chances of guessing the code are about 1/1,000,000,000,000. So, the station can only be accessed (wether it be opening the bathroom door or firing the ship's missiles) if you have the code, which will be given to all members of the newly formed International League of Space Research and Development (Project I.L.S.R.D.), the group of nations who participate in the building of the station.

Nations who are part of the ILSRD (and therefore may use the station at leisure, as well as work with fellow ILSRD scientists when resaerching, which is, after all, the station's main purpose):

IC: Commander Joshua Shultz reached up to the shuttle flight board to make some ajustments to his flight path as he looked out the forward cockpit window at the majesty of Earth from orbit. The blue white orb that is Earth floated in a sea of darkness. Normally mother earth would be backdropped only by the stars, moon & sun, however today another body floated in space near to Earth. This new body was differant in it's nature then were the other bodies mentioned in that it was man made! Today construction on the Space Station was finished and Earth was entering an era of living in space. This station has been made possible through the efforts of the all the members of the newly formed International League of Space Research and Development (Project I.L.S.R.D.), which is made up of the group of nations who participated in the building of the station. Joshua was very grateful to have been picked from a long line of pilots to be the pilot of Koramerica's newest shuttle. This shuttle was not defenseless for one thing as was shuttles of the past. But defense capablity wasn't this shuttle's only new improvement. It also had the ability to be launched from an air platform such as a C5A, and used ion powered rockets for traveling in space. Because of the Ion Engines this shuttle could travel at higher speeds then the old shuttles. Soon he would make history, he would dock with the space station for the first time.

Thank you. More may be purchased... at a later date perhaps... or when more money can be made. :D

OOC: I found this really neat looking picture of a space station while I was looking for pictures for my storefront. Feel free to use it if you like.

IC: Commander Joshua Shultz reached up to the shuttle flight board to make ajustments to his flight path, and thruster controls as he slowly docked his shuttle to the newly built ILSRD Space Station. After securing the flight board he unfastened his seat belt and allowed himself to float free in the cockpit. Raising his hand he pressed the button to open the door leading into the passager compartment, then guided himself through the opening and out into the compartment. Grinning to himself as he seemingly flew across the compartment because as a small boy he had dreamed of being able to fly, and now he at least got to experience at least something similiar. Finally his trip finished he caught himself on the opposite bulkhead (wall ) and lowered himself to the floor in front of the cargo bay control board. Quickly his fingers danced over the communication consule to open a channel to the waiting space station and said ... " ILSRD Control this is Commander Shultz on the Koramerica Shuttle I am ready to transfer my cargo via my shuttles hydrolic arms, I await your instructions. '

OCC: The cargo is the two repair satillites I promised you.

Upon learning of the station's completion, Oslea assembled a team of 15 astronauts and 2 male monkeys and 2 female monkeys to be launched into space to initiate our new project in space, Operation Life. The whole project of this is to see what the effects are when a mammal reproduces in space, so we can see if humans can live in space safely by themselves. After we are done completion of the operation, we will know more about reproducing in space, which will bring us that closer to being self-dependent in space. Monkeys will be used for this operation, which will be of mating age and will be stored in special boxes to prevent them from spreading havoc onto the station. They will all be launched in a week or when the optimal conditions are present for launch.

Burnsian Desert High Military Command
Space Exploration Administration

The Burnsian SEA would like to request permission to launch a three-man crew to the space station. All three of these men are experienced pilots and scientists, and have all attended Burnsian test pilot training. They will carry a payload of meat, poultry, vegetables, and other foodstuffs to experiement with how different foods affect the human body at zero gravity.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Burnsian SEA

As one of the participants, we agree to your presence. However, if objections from other teams arise, they might be overriding.

You can use our module as of now, as it is a little undercrewed.

The UES space command has today released a statement that a team of 10 astronaughts will be sent to the station to conduct routine studies and prehaps prepare for later tests in space.
