After the Cyveron Ganoxan war.

The Cyverons, humans enhanced with cyborg implants and emotionless thought, invaded the planet of Ganoxa, which was in the middle of a long world war, for one goal, total assimilation or genocide. But the Ganoxans resisted with the help of some space faring nations, they fought bravely against superior numbers and technology utilizing every bit of tactics and strategy until the one fateful day. The battle for the Capital of the Forellian Union, Kpor was devestating as the men of the Patriot Line fought hard to give the engineers enought time to rig the city. After several hours of fighting and shelling by long range artillery the order for a full scal retreat of recieved. The majority of the Cyveron invading force and their commander marched into the city to be given the instant death of an atomic detonation. As the leaders of the Forellian Union shortly mourned the loss of their capital they are simultaneously celebratory over the victory.

Now 20 years later the planet was at peace and technology was booming. Engineers were able to reverse engineer the Cyveron ships to develop their own spacefaring vessels. The Alliance of Ganoxa now send explorer ships to venture out to find new friends or maybe run into new enemies...

An Asflaltic exploration ship swiftly moved through space. "Sir, we are detecting a vessel."
The Captain looked up. Finally something was happening. After 4 lonely months, this new contact felt almost as refreshing as a glass of champagne.
"Sound the General Alert. Prepare to exit slip-stream. Load, charge and ready the weapons." "Yes, sir."
A few seconds later, the middle class exploration ship dropped out of slip-stream. A message was sent to the foreign ship.
Greetings!
This is the HMS Swift, of the Intergalactic Armed Kingdom of Asfaltum. We are a deep space exploration vessel, and are on our way home right now. We are glad to have made contact with a fellow space-faring race, and hope that you share our view on that. We are not a military vessel, but are patrolling the area in search for other life-forms. We look forward to meeting you.

"Captain Brivun, we are recieving a message from a foreign ship." said the comms officer.

"Patch it through," Brivun ordered.

"Yes sir"

After hearing the message, Brivun briefly recalled the Asflatum's actions during the war. At the time he was just an Air Force Lieutenant for the Alliance of the North.

"Send a message to them," Brivun ordered the comms officer.

This is the Ganoxan Alliance Ship Kotor. We represent our entire world and wish to ensue peace and trade with your people. As it so happens that in our reports from the Neomans and Crazed Marines who had helped us in the Ground Campaign against the Cyverons that one of your fleets protected us against the Cyveron navy. We are most grateful for your actions.

Deep within T-Space:

Station 221, a Monitor Station set up long ago to keep an eye upon the violence so near the colony world of the Empire. The citizens of the Kala-Kiem system had ceased to be worried once the fighting had stopped but they still kept a wary eye upon their violent neighbors.

The Empire had placed a watching post just outside their neighbor's sandbox, hoping the vast array of sensors would gain them a significant advantage if any warfleets just happen to drift in their direction.

The observation post was one of the standard First Warning types employed by all the systems of the Empire. They consisted mainly of a complete suite of sensors both standard and those nowhere near anything considered "standard" by the other nations. The stations had a range of aproximetly ten light years, the distance between Kala-Kiem and the planet Gonoxa. The post was situated only about four light years away, slightly over the half way point.

Aboard the post, a small crew of Childer monitored the equipment and reported any hint of intrusion. They were very interested in the latest activities around the distant planet.

OOC:

I believe that was the system I mentioned long ago as an option for them to expand.

The Captain aboard the HMS Swift recieved the message with a sense of excitement. "Well, what do you know. I've read about Asfaltums participation in that war, when those delinquent Cyverons tried to overrun an entire civilization. It appears as if that civilization has overcome the catstrofe, and grown. Looking at that space-ship, I suspect that they have grown at a very fast rate too." "Send them the following message:"

It is with great pleasure that I except your invitation. Our role in the war against the Cyverons was quite minimal, I'm afraid, since we at the time were somewhat unprepared for war. As you may know, things change though, and now both your and our world are better prepared to face a similar threat. We have been on a 4 month voyage, and are returning to our planet. We would appreciate it, if you could escort us to your nearest base, in order that we may refill our supplies, and buy necesseray items from you. After that, you are welcome to come with us, and visit our homeplanet. I am quite sure that our king would be quite willing to sign a trade agreement between our two worlds, and possibly a military alliance.

After hearing what the foreign captain had to say Brinuv replied.

"I am sorry but we had just begun to explore and we have not made any colonies yet as we are still rebuilding from the devestation caused by the Cyverons 20 years ago. The only base we have is at our home planet of Ganoxa."

RE: Contact

Dear Sir,

After nearly 20 years without activity after their civil war, there is now detectable movement within the Gonoxa System.

The long-range scanners have detected the launch of a vessel capable of reaching the Kala-Kiem System. The vessel shortly met with an unknown alien craft. The scans show the second craft closely resembles ones used in the war two decades ago by the nation of Asfaltum. There were several exchanges of communications but as of yet, the exact contents of said communications have not been revealed although they did seem to be friendly.

We will keep you posted in the case of any changes in status.

"Aye sir," the navigator said.

The ship then made a slow 180 degree turn and moved foward.

It had taken the ships an hour to reach Ganoxan space. A space station to the right of the ships was being built as they passed by. Then the Control Station hailed the Kotor.

"Unknown vessels state your business," the man in the control station had a Forellian accent to him.

"This is Captain Brivun of the GAS Kotor. The ship behind us is of the Asfaltum and they are here for a diplomatic mission to New Kpor." Brivun said.

"Alright let me check the registration code for your ship. Alright it checks out you may pass sir, but let the Asfaltum captain know that we must give them a registration code for their ship once they land. Its policy."

"Alright control we'll tell him. Proceeding to New Kpor."

The ships landed at the docking bay area of New Kpor.

"Yes General Grenzer, the ship landed at docking bay 92 - A. Their crew has invited me and an ambassador over to their ship."

"Very good Captain I shall join you as ambassador," Grenzer said.

The two then proceeded to docking bay 92 - A to the Asfaltum ship. There they greeted with the crew.

"Thank you." captain Vincente said, feeling a little embarassed. "Our exploration vessels are always a little more expensively built. I'm sure you would find an Asfaltumian war-ship much more Spartan." This was of course true, only to some degree though, but the captain didn't want to appear to "Ubermensch" to his new friends.
"Well, to begin with, there's the issue of a possible trade alliance. The rebuilding of your planet, and the building of your fleet, could be greatly facilitated by this. It's quite simple actually, if I may say so. All traders from your world would get generous discounts on things purchased from us. In return, you would allow Asfaltumian manufacturers (and contract builders) in your market. As you see, your world would get the greater benefit out of the deal. Then, there's the possibility of a military alliance. Asfaltum is not an exeptionally big power, and we don't have any major alliances at the moment. But, if you are in favor of an alliance, then you are welcome to state what your terms are."
Communistic Govts
01-12-2006, 14:22
Grenzer took in what the outworlder said. After thinking through his mind of the advantages of having a offworld trade partner and possibly another ally against foreign threats. I guess we could use the help rebuilding our planet and probably gain an ally against future Cyveron invasions, Grenzer thought.

Previously the council of the alliance vested full diplomatic powers to Grenzer giving him the authority to accept agreements and these were pretty acceptable.

"It is agreed. We accept these trade agreements, but for the military alliance we will accept on 2 conditions: upgrade our ships with better weapons and equipped them with faster than light travel upgrades. After all our ships are pretty primitive compared to yours."

01-12-2006, 15:09
"We accept your terms concerning the military alliance, and since you have accepted the trade conditions, that makes everything a lot more easy too." Vincente answered happily. This was actually going good, he thought. "I'm sure our civilizations have a lot to learn from each other, and I think that we will both benefit out of this alliance. You can already consider your ships to be uppgraded..." Vincente said, thinking of the eager military contractors at home. But Ganoxa was a society under build-up, so the Asfaltum military would probably stretch the contractors prices down to the minimum, he thought with a smile. "Well, I would of course like to stay here longer, but I feel that once my superiors here of this, I'll have plenty of time to return here, maybe even with a higher rank..." he said, joking.

"Yes," Grenzer laughed along with Brivun.

"I also have to talk with the council concerning our meeting. Safe journey to you Captain."

As soon as they got off the ship Grenzer and Brivun headed for the Kotor.

"Well that was a pretty good negotiation," said Brivun.

"Indeed. They are a friendly people not like those damn Cyverons. At least I will have good news to tell the council," Grenzer said.

Brinuv saluted General Grenzer as he got into his car. Grenzer returned the salute and gace the Captain and his crew 2 weeks R & R.

After a short car trip General Grenzer had reached the Council Chambers. The council made up of elected leaders and previous dictators from the seperated states of Ganoxa. There was the individual states of the Old Alliance, the succesor of Valorska, the previous dictator of the Forellian Union, and the Rogue nations of the eastern continent who were briefly in the war against the Cyverons.

After reporting his agreements most of the council was pleased except for the councilwoman from the Rogue State of Galgoria. She was worried about the Asfaltum flooding her country's markets with cheap goods that would disrupt the economy of her nation. She soon agreed with the rest of the council when they decided they would allow each individual nation have its own tariff system to offset these goods.

Grenzer left sastisfied that Ganoxa will soon see a better tomorrow.

A battleship by the name of CMS Ignus had traveled this stretch of the galaxy before. Twenty years there was a war here, this ship happened to be the prototype of the newest line of battleships, and a man named Smith had been on the Planet when all this happened. Now the best two of the three had returned.

"Open a Channel. Hail the natives." Major General Smith, CMDR Fleet 17 barked. Scars, tattoos, and medals emblazoned his visible body, his black uniform tunic with silver and red piping marked him as one of the elite Blood Rangers. Less than ten thousand men our of the five hundred million who had served since the unit's inception had gotten their Blood Cap. These men were feared even by their own countrymen, but respected by all. Finally a reply came.

"We are the CMS Ignus. I am Major General Adam Smith. I have been sent by President James Kowalski to formally create an alliance established 20 years earlier."

OOC: we'll just say that we sign one here as well

...which brings me back to an idea that I've had for quite a while: an alliance where any FT nation is welcome, no matter how small. This alliance would mean that each and every member would have the right for an equal amount of support in case they are attacked. The alliance would not be valid for hostile actions, meaning that we defend you if you are attacked, but not if the attack is a response to a previous attack made by you. The alliance would mainly be for small FT nations which are easily over-run by the bigger FT nations who are more used to war. (Of course, bigger nations are welcome as well.) "Unity gives strength." so to speak... We could start off with just the three of us (Communistic Govts, Crazed Marines, Asfaltum) and then try to gain some more members.

As for names... well, The Union, The Alliance, The Republic, The Empire, etc. are quite common names... I was thinking of something more original, like *cough* The League of the Falcon *cough*...

The Ganoxan War had been the single greatest blow against the Cyveron Hordes. Not only had they lost their leader, they had lost several million units. Humiliated and injured, the Cyverons had retreated back to Arborius where they had licked their wounds and begun to rebuild.

During this time, the Cyverons had done the unthinkable. It was clear that their pile driving tactics had led to the loss of millions. It was this lack of imagination that had been their downfall. And so they had created a new leadership, leaving within them their powers of imagination, emotion and leadership. Known as the Cabal, these had led to several massive leaps within the Cyveron race. They have spent twenty years upgrading and now converting nearby victims. Now they are ready to face their demons......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cyveron Vicksale observed a large map projected onto the wall of his room. Like all Cyveron maps, this showed planets already converted, and those to be so. But Vicksale was no fool, nor bound by the restrictions of his race. He could see that all out invasion, or random declarations of war would not aid him. Instead, he pointed at a small dot ahead of him and let out a robotic growl. 'Ganoxa.'
Around him stood five others, all still as statues. 'Inform the others.' he said. 'I wish to speak to our good friends on that planet.'

As they approached their first destination, sensors started to react. "Sir, we are detecting foreign technology." "Keep her steady, and exit slip-stream on the preestablished place." was the captains response. "Aye, sir." They exited slip-stream outside a starsystem and started scanning. The first thing they noticed, were diamond-shaped dimensional anomalis...

IC:
Aboard the HMS Swift the tension was slowly rising. "Sir, the Crazed Marines escort has reported that they are ready to engage any threat." - "Good, send them a reply, telling them that we greatly appreciate their precoucions but would prefer if they do not to fire too soon..." "Aye, sir." "Also, deploy the four telemetry droids, just in case, and let them start feeding the HMS Counterstrike (Sniper-class gunship) with information." "Yes, sir." "Also, check with the other ships if they are detecting anything better than us..."

In the meantime, a general message was sent out in space:

OOC: SOP is Standard Operating Procedure...also the Ignus is a Sniper class Battleship....is the Counterstrike the same model as mine (huge ass railgun and some defensive batteries) or is it just named the same thing?

OOC: It's a Sniper-class Gunship actually... and I supect that it's a lot more powerfull than your ship... the whole ship is one big gun really...it works like this: The sniper-class gunship places itself in a starsystem far away from the target. Four telemetry-droids are in the same starsystem as the target, and "feed" the gunship with target information, like coordinates, size etc.
When ready, the gunship releases a "shell" which is followed by a huge burst of energy. The shell enters slip-stream (or hyperspace if you wish) and "drags" the energy-ball with it, and jumps into the other startsystem (and ship). The shell goes off, turning the energy into anti-matter which usually results in a really big explosion and shockwave that only the biggest of space-stations can survive. The gunship takes 10 minutes to reload, which is enough time for it to change position, so that even if the enemy somehow traces the projectile, the gunship won't be there.
Btw. Asfaltum has only one snipe-class gunship at the moment :)

As soon as the ships crossed the 10 Ly sensor range in their FTL, an alarm sounded. In response to the alarm, several AI took interest in each target. They initiated scans of the incoming ships and had completed their analysis of the situation before they reverted back to Real Space. One of the AI removed itself from the equipment and formed an avatar. It then walked over to report to the officer in charge of the station.

“Sarge, we have several ships incoming on three different vectors. According to telemetry, they will meet at this point."

A holo of the edge of the system materialized with the area indicated.

“Hmmm… any idea what they want?”

“Nope, there have not been any communication attempts at this moment but there appears to be civilian vessels present so I don’t think it is an invasion. It looks like the military vessels are acting as reinforcements to the civilian or explorer types.”

The officer studied the data for a few seconds. He double checked some of the data.

“What are these?”

“They appear to be some sort of telemetry droids, probably relating sensor data back to the other ships. We have been unable to trace the signal so far but are still working on it. As soon as the Childer finish, your data will be updated and you will be notified.”

“Thanks, return to your post and keep me informed.”

“Yes Sir.”

The avatar disintegrated and the AI returned to its post.

A few minutes later a message was broadcast by the bogeys:

Greetings!
This is an exploratory taskforce consisting of ships from three different worlds. We are here to map new territories and make new contacts. If you hear and understand us, please repond.

“Sir, what are your orders?”

“Transfer all data to System Control. A first contact situation is their responsibility. If they prove to be hostile, then we get them. Keep studying them in case they are having a bad day.”

“Yes Sir.”

Moments later the data was projected on the holoscreen of the System Governor. He quickly read through all the data and telemetry. He studied the video of the ships. He even initiated a scan of the ships through the database hoping a match would be found so they could be identified.

Governor Kar’Graat thought for a moment before composing a return message.

Greetings newcomers. This is System Control for Kala-Keihm. You are welcome to proceed further into the system following the flight path enclosed in the data at the end of the message. Failure to do so will not only mark you as uncooperative, but could cause some serious traffic problems with the residents. We look forward to meeting with you.

Thank you for the coordinates and flightpath.
We look forward to meeting with a representative of yours, you are welcome to send him to us, or send us docking-coordinates if you wish.

Vincente sat back in his chair. "Well, at least they are not hostile. Not yet anyway... follow the flightpath, and don'r diverge from it , whatever you do." "Yes, sir" the helmsman responded. "In the meantime, keep scanning the surroundings, especially for military ships and weapons."
Vincente knew that they had been scanned since they first entered the system, sensors had detected that. He just wanted to return the favor.

The ships slowly moved forward on the flightpath.

The flight plan took the group of foreign ships past several commercial mining operations with their ships scuttling to and fro. The automated ships seemed to keep clear of the flight corridor so none came close to the alien vessels. The course took them parallel to a number of trade vessels heading in system before veering off to the left. After a while longer a station could be seen in the distance. Several patrols of frigates or fighters were visible on long range but none seemed to come close to the visitors.

In the distance there were ships busy at the station. Several patrols were launched and they came out to meet the new ships. As they approached, one contacted them.

“Attention incoming vessels, this is Flight Leader Bravo Alpha. I am here to provide you an escort to your destination. Will you please allow me the honor to do so?”

At the edge of the system, a science and assay vessel slowed to below light speed. It sent a simple message from the Captain, "As per your request at the League of the Freeworlds, We are Entering Your System to do Assay and Science Work. We will commence assay and mapping currently."

A bay opens on the ship and a dozen probes one after the other fire from the bay, they fly towards the asteroid field. In a spread out pattern, they begin to systematically scan the asteroids. First video is taken of the exact location of each asteroid. Then what looks like a very wide beam laser sweeper copies the exact physical dimensions of each asteroid. It looks like a movie projector scanning across the surface. Then neutron scanners, gamma ray scanners, x ray scanners, and other scanners pierce deep into the core of the asteroid or comet measuring the atomic structure of each rock describing the elemental structures, what will be available for mining-- nickel, iron, iridium, platinum, copper, carbon, helium, hydrogen, oxygen, and other components are identified. The process is very fast, most of the scanners are operating at near light speed. Nevertheless it will take a decent amount of time to finish completely scanning the oort clouds and asteroid fields.

The science ships uses longer range scanners to map the location of each planet, moon, and celestial object in the system from the edge of the system to the inner suns. Some of the scanning equipment includes tachyon and graviphotonic scanning equipment, so the scanning is fairly quick. Another set of probes is sent out to the larger set of celestial object. The probe is called a GPS Mapping Probe. It will systematically map each celestial body from orbit, providing a variety of different orbital maps for the Ganoxans.

A steady stream of data is sent back to the planet through standard communication channels. A simple message is sent to the Ganoxans, "We are sending a science shuttle in system as per our agreement to take biological samples and do genetic assay work."

A cylindrical tube bristling with sensor arrays, dishes, antennae, and other instrumentation detaches from the larger science ship and begins to move towards the inner system.

The bioscience wing was an all glass structure. The sun was shining brightly through and flora was abundant. Flowers, vines, stalks, shrubbery, everything was here.

"As you see this building is basically a giant greenhouse. We keep the plants in prime condition with just the perfect balance of moisture, nutrients, and solar energy. The more we understand these things, the closer we come to building a truly closed ecology. We have a number of different functional uses as well for building a closed system. Regenerative life support systems, bioshelter sewage treatment, closed loop farms, and environmental cleanup."

"We are also interested in collecting plants, bacterium, and insects for industrial , botalnical and agricultural use, we have advanced cloning technology which allows us to grow and manufacture certain properties of plants. Martha Ohyes, "It is not our intent to cause any harm, but rather help to better your situation as well as ours. We would like to commence our research. We believe in the value of life." There is a slight twinge and sparkle in Martha Ohyes's eyes, her voice sounds a little fervent.

A scientist tells the robot to go to the science computers of the biological research center to collect data.
One of the robots goes to the science library computer and begins to scan large amounts of data on the native biosphere. It is correlated and filed into different files, on the various species. He is mainly looking for maps of complete planetary ecosystems. The other robot is systematically filming and taking pictures of the inside of the biological research center. The research scientist notices that it seems like the data is being sent very quickly into the computer. The robot makes a chirping sound, then says, "Collated."

Two of the scientists go around and start looking at the various plants, taking notes on the soil, moisture, temperature, and other conditions in the different sections in the science center. Some muttered comments on the simplicity of the equipment are passed back and forth.

The neodog begins to look at the different seeds and biological samples, he sniffs at them and selects various seeds from the repository. He puts several different seeds into an analyzer and the dna structure and cell structure is displayed systematically. The scientists accompanying him, notice he is looking for unique industrial properties, one of the items is steelwood, another is a resinous flower, another is the diamond beetle with a very hard exoskeleton, and another is the balloon flower, a floating plant.

"As you see the AS can cross even the most rugged terrain due to its human like features. Watch as I climb this cliff."

The feet of the AS extracted out blades at the front. The AS began to climp the cliff with no problem at all. Soon it was at the top. Afterwards the assistant piloted it to jump off the cliff. After the AS landed the assistant spoke once again.

"As you can see the AS is very durable, capable of taking a few blunt hits. The AS can also jump to a height of about 20 meters."

"This is excellent Doctor. When will be able to see a weapons test of this," Grenzer asked.

"Its a matter of time and design, general. Since the AS is human like the weapons would be just large size versions of the weapons we use now."

He noted the archeologist in the Mon’nt system studiously busy at their work, the farmers in the Prospero system, the status of the Gargants at Arneb, and then he noticed the First Contact situation at the Kala-Keihm system. He hesitated a moment to listed into the presentation given by Brivun. He withdrew and sent orders to the Honor Guard…

Kala-Keihm:

“Personally I don’t see any reason the Emperor would refuse such a request. He has helped other nations in the past along similar requests and I don’t see any problem arising. All requests for alliances have to go through his office for obvious reasons but again, I don’t foresee any problems. I will send the request on to the Emperor, but until we hear from his office you can count us in as temporary members if you wish.”

“What else may we help you with?”

Gah’Dran picked up the glass of water he had set near his seat and took a drink.

"Would you be interested in the Intergalactic Trade Hub? It is basicly a series of artificially created wormholes that allow civilian and trade vessels travel between members. Once you can get your ship to the Local Gate at the edge of your system, you are about ten minutes away from your destination. It would allow you to cut costs of almost anything due to less fuel used, less man hours crewing the ships transporting the merchandise, and access to over 130 member nations. The membership is free and each ship will pay a usage fee of 100 Glactic Credits whenever they access a gate."

Gah'Dran reached into his case and pulled out a data crystal which he handed over to his guests.

"Here is the information, also remember that membership is not mandetory, only optional."

The value of $100 is adjusted at the Local Gate to match the native's equivelent of the same ammount so 100 = 100 in your currency.

I assume everything is taken care in the background and don't actually RP the transactions because I intended this to be a Plot Device to allow people to RP together using non-military encounters. I even started the Titan Cruise Lines to have passenger ships traveling between systems so characters can book passage to travel this way. Martha Ohyes sat in a conference room with the neodog scientist, the three scientists, the two robots, and the Ganoxan scientists. She had various charts laid out displaying different native ecosystems. They showed animal and plant growth patterns, moisture, soil variants, temperatures, and numerous other variables. A three dimensional holoprojector was showing how the different animals and plants acted together. One of the robots had built a small cutaway of a biodome. It showed various plants growing in what looked like a very well tended garden, with various terraces, and hanging platforms for plants.

She said, "We will have to do some more research by visiting a few different areas on the planet, a jungle area, a desert area, and a forest area to collect a few minor specimens of microflora and bacteria which may be missing from your research center. When we are done, we would like to sink a biodome off the coast of this island in deep waters to check to see how well closed the system is using native organisms."

Doctor Mackenzie, will be saying a few things.

Doctor Mackenzie, the neodog speaks, addressing the Ganoxan scientists, he has a low gravelly voice, "Welcome compatriots, I have found a number of biological specimens of interest to us for industrial purposes other than your native flowers, farm animals and plants which may be of use to us for industrial purposes, there is the Red Glue Flower, The Diamond Beetle, and the Balloon plant which seem to be of immediate use. We are interested in finding out if you have any other plants, organisms, or animals which may be of use to us for industrial purposes? "

Doctor Mackenzie stops for a minute then interrupts, "The ships have finished with the general system maps and we are starting to get more complete planetary maps, also a number of asteroids with significant industrial components have been identified for mining purposes. The ship Captain asks if you would like to have anything specific examined more closely on the stellar maps we are providing?"

As for the examination there is no need for further examination and we thank you for your service. Anyways where would all the fun of exploring new worlds be?" Helsin said then laughed.

The air was hot in the shuttle as it blasted over to the Western continent. They approached in a slow descent to a large desert. The wind was blowing lighting and the sun was bright overhead. They were here to collect some of the missing animals and plants. They began taking soil samples, then gathered insects. The larger animals weren't missing as far as they could tell from the schemata. They searched around and found a small purple cactus not in the record books as well as a few waxy plants. They had found most of the missing plants from the desert.

The forest was mostly collecting lichen, mosses, and bacteria which hadn't been cataloged. There were a few small plants as well. They were almost finished with their trip.

They approached the jungle, there was a chance of meeting larger animals. There were clearly some medium sized animals missing from the descriptions. They had looked through various cryptozoology books and other accounts of the deeper jungles. Clearly some of the jungle hadn't been explored fully. What they were looking for was a small flying snake, and several varieties of amphibious animals something that looked like a cross between a salamander and an octopuss.

They ended climbing high into the jungle canopy. Neither were reported to be at ground level. They searched for a day, but found nothing. Then they came across a truly strange clearing. There were huge floating helium balloon plants, below them long stemmed flowering trees opened up, what looked like a massive net of moss and lichen covered the tops of the trees forming a kind of a net garden. They hadn't seen anything like it before.
There were many strange creatures in it. They captured what looked like a mixture of an octopuss and a lizard, several multiwinged insects, and other small creatures. They also found unusual flowering plants, small and delicate, a giant flower attacked the neodog and he lost two fingers as a result of the encounter. He would be sent back for three days to have his fingerpaws rejuvenated and regrown . It wasn't in any of the record books.

Then they found it. The snake seemed to be aware of them, it would hover at the edge of the clearing, always out of range of vision. Then they found a nest, multiple eggs. It came out lightning fast, spitting poison on one of the members, blinding Martha Ohyes, she fell from the canopy, breaking a leg. They caught it in a net and got a couple of eggs. Martha Ohyes was hauled back to the shuttle. More of the winged snakes seemed to pour out of the canopy. They surrounded one of the robots banging, spitting, and tearing at it until it fell to the bottom of the canopy. Another scientist was swarmed and bitten until he swelled up like a large balloon. The scientists retreated into the shuttle. It was being battered at by the winged snakes. What looked like large floating jellyfish were being herded by the snakes toward the shuttle. They started the shuttle and flew it towards the main biological station. The snake awoke in the shielded cage. One of the scientists looked at it and screamed, he started clawing at the exit door, crying and screaming to be let out. A heavy tarp was thrown over the cage covering it. The scientist sat shivering in a corner muttering to himself.

A message was sent ahead to the biological research station, "We have a potentially dangerous creature aboard, we don't know much about it, it is called Ssith, a cryptozoological animal from your legends, we are not sure what to do at the moment, we are considering returning it to its fellows..."

___________________________________________________________________________________

Meanwhile back at the station, the diamond beatle could produce a form of biological chitin armor, the red glue flower could be used to make a very tough biopolymer 3x as strong as regular plastic, and the balloon plant could be used to make small biological helium balloons-- floating plants, an oddity.

The shuttle lands at pad 10. The doors are open. A man runs out of the shuttle screaming into a corner of the pad. He curls into a ball rocking back and forth. The crew leaves the shuttle very quickly. They are hauling what looks like an inflated sleeping bag with monitors on it. They look haggard. Only one of the scientists can go back inside for a moment to drag a few cases out.

Inside the shuttle, the case is covered with a tarp. As the men in hazard suits approach the shuttle they feel fear, it gets stronger as they approach pressing at their foreheads, a kind of hissing whistle can be heard inside the shuttle.

T-Space:

The Serendipity Emerged from M-Space directly into T-Space. The violent exchange of energies washed across the ship’s shields and discharged into dimensional space. Aboard the Bridge, Admiral De’Vern watched the readouts concerning the power fluctuations. If they spiked at the wrong time, the Honor Guard could loose ships. That was the danger of accessing M-Space and it was only used when the situation warranted it. The carriers and Dreadnaughts easily had the shield power to handle the exotic energies but the standard capital ships were known to disappear in an atom shattering display of the property of physics where energy seeks to obtain the least energetic state. If the escort remained close enough the shields of The Serendipity will protect them. If not, they were never heard from again.

As the fleet transferred safely into T-Space the admiral breathed a mental sigh. He always hated it when the Emperor used M Space to get to a location instead of the safer transition of calling The Pitt for a wormhole. For some reason he wanted to be at the destination within the ten minutes the transition through a wormhole would take. He only hoped the Emperor was right.

After a few moments of getting their position it was determined they were less than a minute away from their destination, one of the tertiary systems of the Empire. De’Vern wasn’t privy to the thought of the Emperor so he only had faith to go on.

“Follow the course and inform System Control of our arrival. We don’t want to scare the drakas out of them just appearing although the Defense Network should have picked us up already.”

“Yes Sir, dispatching communications.”

About 65 seconds later, The Serendipity faded into existence as it Emerged from T-Space into Real Space. The Honorguard Escort also Emerged when the dreadnaught appeared although it was not really noticeable, the immense size of the Imperial Flagship completely dwarfed the fleet surrounding it.

De’Vern touched a button opening a private channel to the Emperor.

“Sire, we have arrived. Sire..?”

There was no answer and De’Vern only sighed inside again.

Station 23314, Kala-Keihm:

“Yes, we can help. Sorry, am I interrupting anything?”

The unexpected voice caused Gah’Dran to look up from the Holo-display where he was outlining some of the aspects of the system to his guests. Near the door but in sight was an elderly man of average height wearing white robes that were trimmed in gold. Even those watching the spot did not notice him appear, almost as if he was always there but was never noticed until he spoke. The elderly man was leaning on a staff for support and his azure eyes seemed to capture anyone attention if they looked into them too deeply. He spoke again with his soft but clear voice that seemed to command attention without being rude.

“Would you mind if I had a seat and joined in on the discussion?”

Gah’Dran suddenly jumped out of his chair, nearly knocking it over in his haste while stammering.

“Y-Y-Yes, er I mean no, ummm… have my seat Sir.”

He quickly cleared his stuff off the table to make room for the elderly man. The man took a seat and handed his walking stick to the attaché.

“Can you please put this somewhere? I don’t need it while I am sitting.”

He turned to the assembled guests and waited for a moment before speaking.

This is to prevent attacks on the weak by dominating warmongers whose only wish is to stamp out free will. You see our nation has suffered the same fate. We were in the middle of a 10 year civil war and then THEY came. The Cyverons, beings that were once human but turned into emotionless machines. At first they attacked a small town called Gertorca, assimilating the town. I was part of the regiment sent to the town to see what was going on. It was a horrifying site to those things inject our people with their nanites. Soon outsiders had came to our aid helping us with their superior technology. The invaders started heading for the most populous city on the planet the Forellian capital of Kpor. We started a desperate defense of it using every weapon that we had including our long range artillery. They broke through our lines and marched into the city, we knew it was lost to begin with when we detonated a nuclear device that wiped out the Cyveron army along with the city. As soon as the Cyverons had made their retreat our planet had been devastated and even to this day we are rebuilding."

Asteroid mining can be established for self sufficiency and I could place a couple ships in your system for protection until you wish them to leave. An incident with a flying snake caused immediate action to be taken. The ten men were at the ship when they saw the research team climbing out. "Prepare the stun gas," ordered the squad leader.

"Stun gas grenade out."

The soldier through the grenade into the ship. It gave a slight flash and boom as gas was expelled everywhere. The men entered the ship to find the "thing" on the ground. "Get a holding cage for this," yelled the leader. One of the men brought out a clear cube cage and put the snake into it.

The men when they enter the ship find the creature curled up on a box containing eggs. It had managed to open its container, there were some fang marks the lock. The lock liked it was melted from a strong acid like poison. On closer examination, the thing was quite extraordinary looking, It had what looked like large dragonfly wings on a black snakelike body with some small red patches on it in a circular pattern, at the end of the snakelike tail it split into what looked like three small tentacles. The eyes were closed and it made a soft hissing sound. The mouth had several large fangs in it. The head was very large and triangular for a reptile. The red patches flaked off slightly like paint when touched.

The crew carried Martha Ohyes's trauma tube to the infirmary. She had been pumped full of medical nanites and a kind of drug which slowed her metabolism. She was breathing very shallowly.

The man was still rocking on the tarmac.

The man is easily led off the tarmac, he seems like he isn't here more like he is somewhere else. He doesn't speak. He just kind of stares off into space vacantly.

The crew is sitting around a table frazzled. People are talking in low whispers. A message is sent back to the science ship. Another shuttle is sent down to pick up Martha Ohyes who is in a coma. She will be taken back to a special hospital, where they will rebuild her face and replace the bone completely, like all of the beings in the scout service, she has clone insurance, they keep samples of her skin, organs, and tissues on reserve in a clone bank in case anything happens.

A rather unusual story emerges. Apparently, they can do something called a brain and body print which copies a persons memories intact. The person who will suffer least is the person who died in an odd way. A copy of him will be removed from storage. He will not remember anything of what happened and they will remove him from the scout service. He will probably never be able to get a second chance again. Clone insurance is an expensive process.

Still the crew takes a couple days off to grieve in their ways and think about what happened. Death is a grim reminder of how dangerous the scout service can be.

The crew seems most worried about the person with mental damage. He is still out of it and scared. The physical body it seems is very mendable, it seems that the soul and mind are not as easy to take care of.

A new team leader is sent down from the science ship. They have all the components to the deep sea longhaul biodome drawn out. The various seeds, plants, bacteria, and animals have been identified to go into the dome. The layout has been drawn and worked over. The thing is double hulled with all sorts of extra precautions to present leakage. There are multiple layers of sealants, and redundant recycling systems for air and waste. In addition, there is backup air and food so it will give them time to adjust the system so it will work better. They present the diagrams to the Ganoxans if they want to build it.

The trip to the eastern continent had been completed. The Commonii say they are ready to depart. They have collected samples of seeds from most of the plants in the biological reserve as well as genetic samples.

As a final departing gift, the neodog says the following, "We sincerely wish you the best, however, we also wish to preserve life. Our ship detected devastation on the western continent. As a parting gift we hope you will accept the following. Two of our scientists wish to stay to investigate the arboreal jungle garden of the snake creature."

"I have gone through the records in the greenhouse and identified several bacteria, grasses, and small plants which can absorb toxic metals from the ground and easily be collected, uranium, plutonium, mercury, and other toxics will be removed from the soil. The bacteria will die forming a brown sludge, the plants will need to be harvested and destroyed." There is a tray with a neon green grass, a purple flowering bush from the desert, and several sealed tubes with bacteria in them.

OOC: By now, the Ganoxans scientists should realize the Commonii have a kind of messianic environmental stewardship philosophy when it comes to biological systems, backed by advanced biological and ecosystems theory. There are things mentioned like planetary biological systems theory, living world hypothesis, and other stuff which seems unusual. Some of it doesn't make a lot of sense, but somehow they make it work.

The flying snake piqued quite a few interests in the CM vessel. A message was sent requesting a copy of the biomolecular makeup of the snakes as well as an offer of assistance handling dangerous animals. These snakes could even beat out the feared headcrab as natural shock troops when conquering planets as well as great big game hunting. Jhnson was still wandering around with his escort admiring the new types of weapons. While they were considered underpowered by CM standards, they had very unique qualities when considering handling and heat dissipation compared to what he was used to. So he did something not too uncommon in wartime with allies, but rarely in peacetime, he tlked to the aide and asked to see his sidearm. The flabbergasted aide asked why and so Johnson told him flatly he wanted to trade sidearms as simply an exchange of technology as well as a symbol of good faith. The aide knew very well he was going to have to buy the pistol if it wasn't approved and hell would reign down if he did without permission.

Johnson then sweetened the deal, "FYI, we use nanite ammunition guns and this particular model is semiauto and provides similar ballistic performance to the S&W 500. We'll even give you some nanite clips to study. I'll give you some time to think about it."

At the research center Grenzer was in the conference room when he received a message on his laptop. It seems the CMs request genetic material and data on the flying snake and in return they will trade their weapons sidearms. Since the council has vested full diplomatic powers to him he could accept any deals that would better the people of Ganoxa according to his judgment.

Grenzer sent a message back to the CMs.

"The Ganoxan Alliance will accept this deal, but I expect a full demonstration of the weapons here at the research facility weapons testing grounds. Maybe we will show you our weapons tech, the AS as we are testing its weapons capabilities tomorrow."

It would be rude and improper to make you send someone so far away so I will leave the choice to you and your friends as to where you wish to establish them. You might even choose both locations.”

“On Earth, your Embassy will be located in the Space Tower with a private dock for your ships to use to ensure privacy. Of course, only small ships will be able to use the dock but a couple large shuttles can fit inside without any problem. Johnson then presented the accompaning aide his own sidearm and received the aide's own pistol. He then went on to explain all the different vatriances on what looked like a standard Glock. "The A model like mine is based on the S&W 500 and gives you eight shots per mag." He then blasted away a cubic meter of ballistics gelatin easily. "Now, the B model is a needler based on the Hornady .17HM2 but a little more powerful. Lots of shots and moderate firepower. Also very quiet and easy to silence. Eighty four shots per mag." He continued shooting the guns and kept on talking. "The C model is a twenty-seven shot .40 caliber. The D a twelve shot 30-06. The E is a fifty shot plasma bolter. And finally the F model is our favorite for space battles, a ninety shot disentigration ray."

"Very impressive Mr. Johnson. As promised here is our latest in weapons technology the Arm Slave."

The humanoid machine stepped out into the weapons testing area of the research facility. Grenzer invited them to the observation tower to see the weapons systems of the Arm Slaves.

"This version of the AS is about 8.1m tall, weighs 12.5 tons, runs on a 1300 hp Gas Turbine Engine, and has an operation time of 230 hours."

The AS started to run across the field.

"The top speed is about 130 km/h..." the AS jumped once," and can jump at a maximum of 20m."

The AS came upon the firing range where giant targets were mounted. The AS started firing its two guns in its head. "The two on board armaments are 2 14.5 mm machine guns, but are considered the secondary weaponry."

Soon a elevator lifted to the field with some very big weaponry. AS went over to pick up what sort of looked like a giant assault rifle. The AS started firing on some armored targets. "That right there is the Mk 1 37mm Assault Rifle. The rifle can destroy most light to medium armored vehicles, and severe damage to heavily armored vehicles, but thats where the Big Bazooka comes in handy. Basically its a giant anti tank rocket launcher and the rocket is about the same size as a small cruise missile," the AS fired the missile on a group of 5 tanks destroying three and disabling the rest.

"Well thats our demonstration of the AS."

"What role do you need me to preform? What will Balrogga's status be within the League? Where are you placing the Headquarters?"

Nhur-Galladu waited to give them a change to answer before he continued.

Nhur-Galladu seemed pleased.
"Excellent, I will see that the Status of this system is upgraded to provide better protection for your Embassy. If there is anything else I can do to assist in any way, please speak of it."

The League of Free Worlds isn't a very "active" alliance... the alliance-members are only contacted in case another member is attacked or if another member decides to sell ships or weapons at a reduced price to fellow members. As we said before, the concept is simple; an equal defensive alliance for nations of all sizes. We have recently expanded our ranks, and are planning to recruit as many nations as possible. As for trouble-makers and your status, well, the whole setup of the alliance is quite simple: the two main categories are Founder and Member. The founders (also called "Chairmen") of this alliance, Asfaltum, Crazed Marines and Ganoxa, have reserved for themselves the right to expell nations from the alliance who do not fit our "image", like trouble-makers. As for the other members, they are all essentially equal. We don't have a very complicated rule-system, our rules are mostly based on common sence. Nonetheless, considering our plans of expansion, we would be honored if you would assume the humble title of "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Recruitment", which would mean that you would help us (the founders) in recruiting new members, and would have the full authority of setting up embassies. What do you think?

As for our headquarters (and sign-up thread), it's here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=510004). ...As you can see on the last page, we have recently been debating some heavy stuff, and I have expelled a nation. But, I hope that this will be a rare occurance...

Meanwhile at the Weapons R&D Wing of the Ganoxan Alliance Research Facility, Dr. Helsin and his team of researchers were trying to build the Type II AS. With the help of the Crazed Marines they were able to complete 28% of the machine.

It will take a few more months to construct this new weapon of war. We are still trying to work out the muscle packages and power systems to support the maneuverability of this AS. Unlike the other one this one will have a more human feel to it and will be less cumbersome. Dr. Helsin thought.

After months of research the AS was complete. This model is more sleek and human like then its predecessor the Savage. It was able to move at incredible speeds jumping instantaneously. A machine of great adaptability. Dr. Helsin smiled at his creation and so did his research team.

After the test (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyszbdlTK0Y) of the Prototype AS it was allowed to be part of a military operation involving a rescue attempt of a human population who suffered from a machine takeover. This should be a perfect test for this new machine. The only thought on Dr. Helsin's mind was that he hoped it came back on one piece.

Ganoxan Alliance Council Chambers.....

The Reconstruction Committee was reporting on the status of the reconstruction of the planet. Before when the committee appeared before the council 5 years ago. The planet was 23% rebuilt with the economy at 12% below what it had used to be before the World War and Cyveron Invasion that followed. Today the Committee had good news.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the council. I am most happy to report that the planet has boomed in its reconstruction efforts with offworld help. We are now at 92% completion with the economy booming at 25% above the norm 30 years ago. Ganoxa has healed."

Several factories orbited the planet with harvester drones making trips out to the asteroid elt for raw materials. The automated systems kept operational 24/7 in the Imperial attempt to assist their allies.

Large cargo shuttles moved the manufactored pieces from the factories down planetside. They contained anything from nuts and bolts to entire prefabricated wall sections. Once on the ground, automated assembly lines assembled the space parts into finished products. The Ganoxan goverment took care of the allocation of the products and the ordering of new ones by submitting design specs to the AI controling the whole operation.

OOC: its Cm's cousin. I'm picking up his threads after he got the axe in Jan.

IC: Johnson watched the ASII as it came into production. His countrymen were pleased with the antique firearms, and they were grabbing premium prices in what was left of Alabama. After the black hole opened in the middle of the Colonies, only Alabama and a few docks survived. All the planetary outposts soon became engulfed in chaos and lost contact. Alabama was still trying to keep up with its embassies and this was the latest one. At least the Blood Rangers and their museum were at Redstone Arsenal.
