General Michael Collins
Michael Collins was born on 16 October 1890, at Sam’s Cross, near West Cork. As a lad, he spear-fished for salmon in the river and played among the cliffs above Black beach and at Cliodhna's Rock. But, as was typical of the times, Collins never learned to swim. Michael's father, Michael John Collins was sixty years old when he married a local girl, Marianne O'Brien. Marianne was only twenty-three, but they were apparently happy and went on to have eight children. Michael, the youngest, was born when his father was seventy-five. Michael's father was a farmer by trade, not rich, but living comfortably for the times on a holding of ninety acres. Collins went to London where he lived with his sister Hannie, in West Kensington and worked for the Postal Savings Bank in West Kensington. He was thirteen. Michael would spend the next nine years in London. While in London he joined the local Gaelic Athletic Association and then, thru this association the IRB. The IRB is an association dedicated to the liberation of Ireland and here is where Collins fabricated the idea of the IRA. Thus the leader and founder of the IRA was born.

(1867-1910)
Eoin MacNeill
Eoin MacNeill was born on 15 May 1867, in Glenarm Ireland. He was taught at The Queens College of Belfast, specializing in Irish history, which he immersed himself in. He was the cofounder of the Gaelic League and became the editor of the newspaper “The Gaelic Journal”. Through the Gaelic League he met Michael Collins, a young visionary in the field of Irish liberation. MacNeill and Collins both believed strongly in Irish independence and from that belief sparked the founding of the IRA. Today Eoin is second in command the General Collins.

The Military

Background and information
The IRA is composed of approximately 13,000 Irish volunteer troops. The main purpose of the IRA is to create a Republic of Ireland free of British rule. Though the IRA seems to be militaristic in this venture they are far from an army. Founded by Michael Collins and co-led by Eoin MacNeill* the IRA is determined to liberate Ireland at any cost.

Equipment*
Mauser Model 1871
This staple rifle of the German army is one of the main rifles used by the Irish rebels.
The Luger 9mm pistol
This pistol, also sent by Germany is found as a sidearm or even a main arm weapon on IRA soldiers.
Maschinengewehr 08
This machine gun was also a product of imperial Germany. Very few are found on IRA troops, mostly used as a defensive weapon and in urban areas.

Notes
- The approximated recruitment was determined by taking a little less than 1% of the Irish population of that time.
- I was not sure if “British Held” was a good term.
- This RP takes place before the real creation of the IRA so my excuse is that the succession of the CSA sparked more fervent desires for a revolution in Ireland,
- General Collins and MacNeill we’re introduced but never co-led an organization. Collins did in fact found the IRA though and MacNeill was a participant in a similar organization. I decided to merge the two patriots and make it less confusing and also create a second in command.
- Apparently most, if not all, of the equipment used by the IRA was donated by Germany. I would like to know if Germany is uncomfortable with this and I will change it. Also if any other country would be donating please inform me.
