The Reforging of the Sword (FT Intro, Open.)

Craftworld Ra-Ithen
28-11-2006, 04:21
For the first time in millenia, the monolithic shape of Craftworld Ra-Ithen slipped silently through the vast and cold Milky Way. Though they were only on the fringe of the Galaxy, nostalgia of the Eldar's grim past flooded into the minds of those living aboard the Craftworld.

Most wondered why they had been torn from their relatively peaceful life in Andromeda, far away from the hunger of Slaanesh and the other Chaos Gods, and the brutal aggression of the Mon-Keigh that infested the Milky Way.

The return had been planned for centuries, but most of the Eldar simply refused to believe it was nothing more than a fantasy, and out of the realm of possibility. Some still hung to this belief even when the Farseer announced the discovery of ancient Webway path's leading back to the Eastern fringe of the Galaxy, and that a homeword journey would begin immediately.

That hope was nothing more than a fools paradise when the Craftworld as a whole entered the Webway. Many Eldar despaired, but the Aspect Warriors voiced their approval. They had been training thousands of years for this one moment, the moment they would attempt to reforge the lost Eldar empire.

Farseer Tereah stood silently, watching the marching guardian squads that would make up the first wave of attack. The Farseers armor, as all armor was on Craftworld Ra-Ithen, a combination of shining Mithril silver and a duller, scab-red color.

As the last of the squads loaded onto the transport prepared for them, a lone seer approached Tereah and whispered into her ear. "Farseer, we've arrived. The planets before us are small, insignificant. Resistance should be light."

Tereah smiled at the news, but had one question. "And their inhabitants?" The other Seer simply shook his head dismissively. "Mon-Keigh. They are all Mon-Keigh, it does not matter."

Tereah nodded. "I suppose you are correct. Who ever they are, they will have the honor of watching the restoration of the Eldar Empire." And with that, the Farseer gathered up her Singing Spear and Shuriken Pistol, and boarded the transport to personally lead the forces of Ra-Ithen into battle.

((OOC: I kinda need someone to play the current rulers of afore mentioned planets, if that isn't too much to ask. I promise to make the RP as fun as possible on my end, I need only an opponent.))

On the planet surface, panic struck.

"Sir! Unknown starships, in orbit, I repeat, unknown starships in orbit!" cried a lieutenant in the headquarters of the Royal Starfleet.

"Notify the Supreme Commander and the Monarchs at once!" ordered the Admiral of the Fleet.

The Supreme Commander of the British Londinian Expeditionary Force, Field Marshall Sinclair, and the Emperor and Empress immediately came down to the High Command.

"Call a planetary alert at once! The Britannic Empire shall stand against this threat," said the Empress.

"All starships, move to intercept these objects at once," signalled the High Command.

There were three dozen starships in orbit, and another hundred scattered throughout the galaxy. All of them moved towards these objects, shields raised, weapons armed, and hailing the aliens.

OOC: I hope this is good; this is my first FT RP, so...

The Eldar fleet, on the other hand, consisted of only a dozen ships. They prepared their own weapons systems, and prepared to open fire. How ever, since they were dealing with Mon-Keigh, they thought it would be amusing to try and reason with the barbarians first.

"Mon-Keigh, there is no reason for your people to die. Simply relent, and hand this system over to the Eldar. One chance, and one chance only Mon-Keigh. What is your decision?"

As the message broad casted, the Eldar ships formed up in a tight phalanx to maximize their own firepower against the superior enemy numbers.

These invaders want us to surrender, eh? mused the Admiral of the Fleet. Never. We shall fight on the beaches. We shall fight on the landing grounds. We shall fight in the fields, and in the streets, we shall fight in the cosmos. We shall never surrender!

"All units, engage in spread pattern. Constantly manoeuvre around. Fire quantum torpedoes!"

As the Royal Starfleet vessels circled around the invader's starships, three hundred quantum torpedoes were launched.

"So be it, Mon-Keigh."

With that, the Eldar ships suddenly broke their phalanx, and began to use their main advantage: Speed. Most torpedo's were dodged, and those that weren't merely smashed into the ships protective shields. The Eldar began to let lose salvos of their own laser systems at the Mon-Keigh ships that opposed them.

As it happened, Nachshon, pilot of the Jerusalem IV, was limping home from a rather nasty scrap with some Skaven. He entered the system to find a battle between two powerful fleets. Frak.

He had hoped to find a repair station that could fix up his ship, but he decided that a better strategy would be to wait for the battle to finish, then ask the victors for assistance. However, as part of his mission as an Explorer-Diplomat was to gather information on other races' military capabilities, he moved towards the battle, and began running simple scans on each and every ship involved.

This would take a while...

Battle-barge Imperator Lux, Warp Location Corresponding to the Contested System

Legion Master Eustacius of the IInd 'lost' Legion carefully examined the hololithic display that showed the Imperium's last records of the system the Imperator Lux was about to enter. Around him stood veteran Space Marines, warriors who had expanded the Imperium in the days of the Great Crusade, and battled the heretical forces of Warmaster Horus.

"The Imperium's last Explorator detatchment was swiftly annihilated by indigenous forces. This suggests they either posess STC technologies, or have developed their own technologies devoid of the holy machine-spirits granted by the Omnissiah, but certainly potent enough to pose a significant threat. The Emperor has granted us leave to enter the system and attempt to peacefully contact the locals and attempt to establish diplomatic ties. However, at the slightest hint of mutation, xenos infestation or uncontrolled psykers, we are to administer the Emperor's Mercy to their society as much as possible."

"We obey, Legion Master."

The Battle-barge burst back into reality, briefly trailing the stuff of the Immaterium as the bleeding hole in reality closed itself. Almost immediately the surveyors on the Lux spotted the Eldar fleet.

"We will fight the Xenos scum, if the locals wish it. Ahead full, bring us into lance range. Hold fire until we recieve word from the local authorities. Void shields to full power."

This is Adeptus Astartes Battle-Barge Imperator Lux, offering the local forces aid in the battle against the treacherous xenos scum. Please respond.

The massive engines of the Imperial ship powered up, propelling it towards the battle.

Actually, Nachshon was not just doing scans. Back in the Goonswarm home systems, people were watching the streaming video feed of the battle. In fact, Nachshon was running a betting pool on the outcome. The betting was running in favor of the Royal Starfleet.

OOC: I'm terribly sorry to interpose an OOC comment in the midst of a battle, but I was curious about two things:

Number One: Do you have need of a second player?

Number Two: If so, would another race from Warhammer 40K be acceptable?

I'll be sure to delete this or change it into an IC remark regardless of the outcome.

((OOC:
Number one: I guess so, just as long as it doesn't get too crowded.

Number two: Of course not.))

One of the warriors aboard the transport was informed of the new Mon-Keigh forces entering the battlefield, and made haste to inform Farseer Tereah, whom was occupied using her psychic gifts to inspire the forces of Ra-Ithen as they did battle in the skies above the battlefield. Though he was weary of interrupting her, he did so.

"Farseer, we have detected more Mon-Keigh entering the area.." He informed her with a bow. Tereah simply nodded. "Yes, I have sensed them. They are not allied with the occupants of these planets...they seem to be third and fourth parties."

"Your orders, Farseer?" He asked in reply. "Do not engage them, yet. Let us see what their purpose in the area is first." She then turned and went back to her meditations, dismissing the warrior.

The starships scattered as the enemy opened fire on their ships.

"All units, return fire!" cried the Admiral of the Fleet.

Three hundred quantum torpedoes fired at the large vessels, whilst salvos of plasma rained down upon the starships.

Some of the torpedoes managed to deplete the Eldar's shields to enough to allow many of them to break through and strike the craft directly, resulting in the damage of several craft and the outright explosion of some others.

The Eldar, a bit taken aback by the fact the filthy Mon-Keigh had managed to even touch their ships, much less sink one still continued with their own barrage of laser systems.

In Starfleet Headquarters, the Admiralty was horrified as a dozen ships were taken out of action, crew abandoning their vessels, starships plummeting into the Craftworld vessels.

The starships continued to fight back, launching scores of torpedoes, lasers lighting up the sky.

On the planet surface, ground batteries were online, and the ion cannons fired.

As three more ships exploded or were otherwise disabled by the Mon-Keigh's defenses, Tereah decided that landing her troops was long past due. The transports attempted to charge past the human defenses, while the battleships trailed behind, laying down covering fire at both enemy ships and surface targets.

"Admiral, enemy forces are landing on the surface!"

Royal Army forces began to fire on the landing ships.

The starships redirected their barrage at the transport ships, and the ion cannons continued to pummel the enemy.

The Transports increased their speed, and due to their heavy shielding they made it into the planets atmosphere with 'acceptable damage. Hundreds of Guardians departed the ships and began to attempt to secure landing zones for more landing ships.

Tereah herself was one of the first to land, the Farseer and her vanguard eager to do battle with the Mon-Keigh rulers of the planet. Meanwhile, miles above the planets surface the Eldar's battleships continued to bombard the surface, aiming for the planet-side defenses first, and then moving onto troop formations and military infrastructure.
