The Accession of Supreme Prophet Sedo [Intro/Open RP]

Dracun imperium
26-11-2006, 19:15
Drakata, the “White City” was in celebration as bells rang out throughout the city and doves flew throughout it. White flowers floated down to the air as planes dropped them due to the grand celebration taking place in the Imperium. It was on this day that a new Supreme Prophet had been named and he was a most promising one.

Sixteen years ago on this date, the last Supreme Prophet had died. He was Prophet Lumen and was not only loved by respected by all for his wisdom and compassion. He had ignored the international and focused solely on the needs of the Imperium. His legacy would be of his policies that focused on improving Dracun internally and the economic and scientific prosperity that came with his policies would be obvious for years to come. However as all Supreme Prophets did, Lumen died and passed on to the heavens and the ritual to pick a new Supreme Prophet.

All males who were born at the exact time of his death were brought before the council of Prophets which was the Dracun law making body. Out of a pool of hundreds seven children were picked and brought to the Holy Palace to begin training. As the seven trained the council ran the country for sixteen years through democratic means. When the candidates turned thirteen they received extensive exposure to the public unlike other such events, one candidate stuck out and the people of Dracun fell in love. He was Candidate Sedo Eternus. It was of no contest then that on the 16th anniversary of the death of Lumen that the council in a rare event in one round voted unanimously for Sedo as the next Supreme Prophet.

Though Sedo was picked that day preparations for the naming of a Supreme Prophet had gone into effect months before. The white city of Drakata was now packed with millions upon millions who wanted to see their new leader. Most countries would find this odd but, not the Imperium as the Supreme Prophet was not only their absolute ruler but, their connection with the Goddess who was similar to the Christian God except female. Dracun was a theocracy and had prospered for millennia under such leadership.

Each Supreme Prophet left a legacy and few had ever died in shame. Sure there were stains on many but; overall the Imperium had hardly any corrupt Supreme Prophets due to the environment in which they grow up. While Lumen had focused internally his predecessor had expanded the navy and air force, expanding the carrier fleets to a new height. Many now wondered what Sedo would leave behind as his legacy though many suspected he due to Lumen’s internal foundation would push Dracun back into the world once more as a power to be heeded.

None of this mattered now for the grand procession had started and the Templar, (Dracun’s elite force which had its own branch of the military) marched down the Eternal Road dressed in the ceremonial white garments for such an occasion. Fighter jets flew overheard shooting special devices that sent a load of white flowers to float down upon the city. After a half hour of constant cheering and parading, massive Televisions which were placed all throughout Drakata which broadcasted news daily suddenly gained the attention of all Drakata. The camera was now focusing on the balcony from which Supreme Prophet Eternus would speak and issue his first proclamation.

The Imperium anthem blasted at its most epic point and the Sedo Eternus the new Supreme Prophet stepped into the eye of the public for the first time as their official leader. He now and would forever wear the white robes and silver mask of the Supreme Prophet and he would only be seen without it in public at his death. The crowds erupted into wild cheering as he approached the podium.

Sedo was liked not just because he was good with words and could convince a snake to bite itself but, because he was well beyond his years. He was always calm at all times and never made an irrational choice. His ability to inspire those around him was well known and many had said that being in his presence made you feel important and so joyous it was beyond description.

Finally after several moments Drakata fell silent and the Supreme Prophet spoke, “My brothers, my sisters’ today marks a glorious day in our history. As our grand tradition dictates the council formally hands over the reigns of the government to me and I am supposed to know what to do and be the perfect leader. I however disagree with this tradition,” He paused for a second to allow his works to sink in before continuing, “No test, no simulation could prepare anyone for the job of not only maintaining a state of grace between our Goddess and the international. I cannot tell you I won’t make mistakes, I cannot tell you I am perfect because that would be lying and as the highest moral authority on this world for our religion that would make me a hypocrite. I shall not do such a thing instead, I promise to work hard for the benefit of the Imperium and the world. I promise that I will govern with wisdom, I promise to be patient, I promise to listen to all views and arguments. I promise to be the best Supreme Prophet the Goddess has willed me to be!” The crowd was silent for only a heart beat before exploding into applause and chants of “Sedo is great” and “Long live his eminence.”

Sedo began to speak even as the roar of approval continued, “Supreme Prophets leave legacies that are written in text books and the archives throughout the nation. I too will leave a legacy. My legacy will not be foreign affairs; it will not be internal affairs. It will be you, the people. I swear to you today that from this day forward that my only concern is the people who I serve. Glory be to the Goddess!”

Thankfully the speech ended there as any hope of continuing would have been in vain. The people had erupted in roars of approval and support. It was obvious that this reign would be very interesting to watch unfold.
