BBC World Service, 25 November

Today, the Dual Monarchs of British Londinium, and the President of Nova Brittania signed a mutual defence treaty, in which each nation pledged to defend the other in all circumstances. Rumours that economic treaties will be signed circulate. More news on this issue as it appears.

Are you going to play in Earth-V? You're my southern neighbor as I have China. Would be fun to make some kind of RP.

OOC: Two things. 1. You have to join IC. 2. I would help, except I'm already being invaded.

To Prime Minister Robert Tranter of British Londinium and the Despot of Nova Brittania,

While the King agrees to recognize the provisions of this treaty, he is appalled at the fact that he was not invited to the convention or other such meeting at which the terms of the treaty were laid out.

It may have been that the King or a Cotenshirish representative was expected to come without invitation, and if this was the situation, then we were unaware of that fact.

In any case, the King will be displeased if such a dastardly scandal were to happen again.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Arthur Rockingham, Lord Chancellor

You were not invited to the ratification of the treaty, nor were you expected to show up.

To Prime Minister Robert Tranter of British Londinium,

On the piece of correspondence from your two monarchs, which if you were not briefed, sir, stated:

"You were not invited to the ratification of the treaty, nor were you expected to show up."

This is percisely the problem, and if there is a reason why your monarchs neglected an invitation towards the King or if some minister of lower offices neglected an invitation to a diplomatic official of Cotenshire, then I would have liked to know about it.

As one would naturally suspect, the King does not like being excluded from diplomatic matters of such weight. I am not saying that the King had any planned actions should the question of such an alliance between your state of British Londinium and that of Nova Brittania come up, but he is angry because of this foul insult which we perceive to have been directed at us because of our exclusion.

As I said earlier, if there is a reason for this embarassing miscue of diplomacy, I would like to hear it, but make sure to it that there are no further insults to the Salisburys or their Kingdom.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Arthur Rockingham, Lord Chancellor

I share the same opinion of the Monarchs in this issue. In fact, I authorised the message that was sent.

We feel that your nation is being overly touchy. We are thankful that all nations leaders are not as touchy as you, for then we would have to invite all national leaders for fear they would declare war on us if we did not. In short, this was a private alliance between the nation of British Londinium and my nation. Not the business of your king. Espescially since you had no plans to do anything at all.

The King was so enraged by the arrogance of the Prime Minister's response that he beat his nephew half to death with his cane. The King wanted to write the Prime Minister of British Londinium personally, but Rockingham advised against it as the King was in such a hostile mood that his response would most likely be irrational and provocative. Rockingham wrote a response instead.

To Prime Minister Robert Tranter of British Londinium,

With all due respect, sir, His Majesty the King has but only one reasonable interpretation of this event. In his rage, he is even considering not recognizing the treaty, although he has calmed down since. Our Lord King is most displeased, to say the least. It would behoove you to persuade your monarchs to send a personal apology.

The Rt Hon. Arthur Rockingham, Lord Chancellor

(OOC: Just to clear things up. As in all my IC posts, there is nothing personal. I am just writing what my leaders would do given this situation.)

Upon receiving the messages addressed from the President of Nova Brittania to the King, the King promptly tore it up in rage, wondering what nerve the President had in thinking that a mere president could address a King. He was also further enraged by the message from the Prime Minister, once he was informed of it by Rockingham. Both messages were torn up and the King resigned himself for the night. Rockingham sent another message, this time to both parties:

To Prime Minister Robert Tranter of British Londinium and President George Lincoln of Nova Brittania,

I am disappointed at the responses that have been received in the Royal Court. The King's opinion's of both of your countries has been damaged, and I hope we can work to repair this. Try not to make this mistake again, but in the meantime I urge you not to send personal diplomats to the King's court, as I would fear for their lives.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Arthur Rockingham, Lord Chancellor
