Governmental Type: Constitutional Monarchy

Economic Overview:
The economy of the Kingdom is largely dependent on the primary industry of Iron extraction, inherited from the Kingdom’s origins as a large corporate mining colony. A large percentage of the workforce is therefore employed in the extraction industries of the country. However, some secondary- and tertiary-sector based business does exist, stemming from the colonist’s desire for consumable items resulting from payment for their mining employment and the distance from Earth for commercial activities. However, the Kingdom still depends on large-scale exporting of minerals in order to survive.
Territory:
The Kingdom of Independent Mercury comprises three underground mining cities, protected by reinforced titanium domes and linked by an extensive series of commercial and industrial tube networks for both road and rail transportation. The three settlements are set out in a tri-foil design, and a rough estimation combining the area of each settlement puts the territory of the Kingdom at being roughly 30,000 square kilometres. The three settlements are named Hermes City, New Birmingham and New Sheffield, with Hermes City being the seat of power for the Kingdom’s central government.
Political Overview:
The current monarch, Sebastian I, has appointed a provisional government for the purpose of drawing up a Constitution, and has promised elections within three months for a Royal National Assembly. Currently however, all decisions are taken by executive prerogative until this takes place, so the Kingdom is technically under dictatorship rule, however temporary it may be.
Military Forces of the Kingdom:
The Current military forces of the Kingdom comprise the Corporate Security Force prior to the secession of the colony from control of the Extra-Terra Corporation on Earth. As such, the current Order of Battle stands at a total 100,000 personnel, with 20,000 Royal Infantry, 200 Armoured Personnel Carriers and a dozen Heavy Weapons Tanks (HWTs).
