((OOC hello there! I'm new to nation states and after planning up my country I decided to make it, this thread is an rp to help introduce my nation, which would be new to the world of interstellar travel an so forth, well, just read on ;) anyways, I hope to get the ball rolling with my nation an others, I placed this thread in international incidents because the emergence of a new nation would be a "major diplomatic event" right? if I'm wrong I apologize for posting this in the wrong spot. anyways, here goes!))

on the edge of the milky way, strange electrical storms have been appearing. Eventually a large electromagnetic storm appears somewhere in the alpha centauri system, along with a small subspace warp tear. Out of the tear flies a small primitive probe with large amounts of damage and carbon scoring holding a small plaque on it's chassis reading "NASA". the probe is very easy to detect as it is covered in large, fatal amounts of radiation and some strange new element with a noticeable presence in subspace as well as normal space. The probe seems to be giving off a strange radio signal. inside it's gold disk has been replaced with a small stone plate gilded with electrum figures and the radio signal says as follows: "Zjon!.... Yaziv kvasi.. kyaza molog von y jalak tovo" and so forth in this strange tongue.

(IC knowledge to be used: nations with such capabilities could track where the NASA probe returned from by following the trail of this new element on it along subspace routes. attempts to decipher the message would fail as this language is a language isolate, almost completely uninfluenced by sources outside the planet ((almost because of the probe landing there))

(OOC: well that sums up the start I guess, I'll reveal more about my planet/nation's culture if there's any interest in a first contact, and with the new element that has a good anchor in subspace naturally, it might be useful in warp, and therefore the region might be kinda like a new Africa because of its resources and previously uncolonized state, of course that might be subject to change.

A group of 3 Fighters drop out of hyperspace. The ships unfold there wings ((Ships resemble arc-170s (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/ARC-170_starfighter) from Star wars but are black instead of burgandy))
and begin a sweep.

"Commander this is the location of the magnetic storm" says a female voice "It appears It was a basic... wait hold on im getting strange radiation readings at 6'oclock"

"Are you sure Lieutenant Im getting no such readings" replies the Commander

"Commander im getting the same readings as the Lieutenant" Said the tird pilot

The three ships head towards the source of the radiation they see a small metalic probe

"Holy hell What is that"

"I have no idea Luietenat ptach me threw to The Admiral"

A faint voices comes on the comm

"This is Petty ofiicer Wisnton of Admiral Altairs office please state your buisness and your reason for interupting His majestys affairs"

"Trust me Petty officer He will want to see this"

Alpha Centauri System

Recon Fleet RX71 was light, as were all recon fleets-merely one Nova-class Frigate, one Scimitar-class Gun Frigate, and two Otari-class Corvettes. Nothing special, but it was for reconnaisance, after all. They were some distance from the Shroud, near the A62 tactical fleet which had been dispatched to investigate the odd readings from the Terran system. Commander D'path of the frigate Tantaid regretted missing on the option to command a larger ship...he'd likely be stuck as a frigate or corvette commander for the rest of his days. A boring job, usually he was either part of a major task force under a battleship or dreadnought...or stuck on recon duty. Recon was easily the worst job of the Dominion fleet, going out of the Shroud in the Sagittarius Arm and discovering other things. Science was dull, fighting not.
However, today something piqued the scanners of the Tantaid, a radiation source coming up on passive scanners.

"Report," D'path said, slightly irritated.
"Probe of some sorts, I believe, Cap'n," his sensor officer reported.
"Location from?"
"No idea as of yet. It seems to be giving off some unknown, garbly language."
"Any chance of translation?"
"Negative, our computer systems aren't registering it."
"Send out a tracer probe. We'll have where that came from in no time."
"Copy captain. We're picking up something else...three fighters, emerging from hyperspace."
"Make sure they can't interfere with our own probe. Dispatch two gunships for escort until it makes hyperspace to drag its beacon along."
"Copy sir."

Two Gunships dropped out of the Tantaid's hanger bay, right behind a small blue probe shot out of a missile turret on the Gun Frigate. The little probe shot towards the radioactive probe, scanning it for a second, as the gunships kept their targeting computers on the three fighters. Pausing, then turning, the probe let loose a small trailing object, to keep contact with the subspace trail of the probe, then shot into hyperspace, dragging the dimensional trailing device with it.

OOC:

This is the right place for this post. You chose right so don't worry.

IC:

The research ship was investigating the electrical storms that were taking place at the edge of the galaxy. So far, the cause had yet to be determined.

"Captain, the event regesters strongly on our dimensional sensors. I am picking up seemingly random subspace traces."

"Any sign of Shivan activity?"

"Negative Sir, it appears to be unrelated to them. I am neither picking up any traces of known GFFA vessels. The signal is an unknown to us."

"Monitor the situat..."

"Sir, I am detecting a probe emerging from the event."

"Scan the probe and initiate contact."

The Three fighters sit in a tight wedge formation quite a bit away from the probe itself. Commander Bacarus happy to be in the pilot seat instead of on the bridge of his ship ponders about what he just found. If he is promoted it will be unlikely hed ever fly a fighter again. His thinking is cut short by voice of one of the other pilots

Liuetenat Janus Smith " Sir The transponder codes on both groups of ships have been jammed i cant tell who they belonged to."

Bacarus "Thank you Liuetenat, Liutenant Tan contact high command alert them that possible unknown hostiles have been seen In this area recommend a Small Battlegroup be sent to this system immediatley."

"Yes commander"

"Also Contact My XO tell her to bring the Dauntless to these Coordinates and be on full alert. Smith you and i will fly down to the probe and get some recon photos for High Command"

As the two fighters strafe the probe for reconosince photos the Dauntless hypers into the system it is a Consular Class Patrol Cruiser (http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/6/6f/Consular-class_Space_Cruiser.JPG) with light armor and room for 2 3man wings of arc 170s and a Theta shuttle (http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/7/71/Theta.jpg)

Out of the hangar comes the other flight of Arc 170s. Bacarus brings his 170 into the hangar. Commander Bacarus returns to the Dauntless and relectantly returns to his command chair looking out the veiwport he sees the arc 170 he was just flying take off like a bat out of hell to join the other fighters in there patrols. He smiled then Turned away after all he had a first contact report to type

OOC: wow! surprised at the interest, anyways here's a continuation from me

IC:

while a small battle becomes a possibility, the small probe sits idle, not truly seeming to move. the probe, being a human one from ancient earth appears to have completed it's mission and made contact with new life, as the probe appears to indicate by it's repeated message. tracer probes appear to find a sparse trail, with thinly dispersed atoms of the strange alien element scattered along a number of space/subspace trails leading to a star system some 36 light years from alpha centauri.

the probe's point of departure however, seems to be from a small planet, the fourth from one of three suns in the system. the three suns are not all together, but rather hey are three separate solar systems, near one another. In addition to the planets there are also numerous asteroid belts and clusters, with the asteroids being heavy-laden with minerals amalgamated into the element found on the probe, the element has a strange feature about that gives it it's unique subspace anchorage. The element is made of a peculiar combination of matter/anti-matter particles, making it dangerous to replicate, but valuable as a fuel source or for use in hyperspace travel. at the heart of the system, from which the patterns of asteroids belts seem to radiate, is a large nebula.

the planet in question that the probe returned from has a temperate climate, is mostly water, and has an extreme lack of minerals, the only two prevalent minerals are electrum, which is a natural amalgam of gold and silver, and the new element, other minerals are present in amalgamations with electrum and the new element. there are two separate landmasses divided by a vast expanse of deep open water between then on the eastern expanse, on the western expanse of water between them appears to be a normal ocean, with a number of islands dotting the water. the eastern expanse of water appears to be black because of it's depth. The black water in question consumes a fair amount of this eastern ocean in a somewhat large circular pattern resembling a crater, of similar note the mass required to fill the hole to a normal amount is the same as the mass of the planet's moon, indicating perhaps a meteor strike of cataclysmic proportions occured here to form the moon. the wildlife in this deep expanse has adapted to survive in the immense pressure and near light-less environment, while numerous large predators stalk one another in the vast open ocean.

of the smaller landmass, it appears to be relatively unpopulated, or at the very least uncivilized, as not real apparent signs of civilization can be seen, the populous, if any is present, is probably primitive. it's location on the landmass seems to extend only a little bit north of the equator. and the make up seems to be mostly tropical in the center, with a temperate south.

of the larger landmass however, it appears to contain three continental plates. the eastern most appears to be devoid of any advanced civilization, yet there is still a civilization, large amounts of farmland have been cleared in the north, while there is much grazing land in the south, suggesting that perhaps it is a largely sedentary civilization in the farmland, while a nomadic one exists in the south.the two western continents appear more advanced, but it is still doubtful whether or not this is a warp capable civilization. the northern plate has a large amount of forested land with an arctic peninsula stemming from the north eastern top. where the most signs of civilization appear to be located however are on a small peninsular and a northern ring of grassland extending to a mountain range that appears to divide it and the forested region. the peninsula and the main plate appear to be connected by a thin strip of land with an artificial canal in it. the reason for the strip appearing this is the presence of a crescent shaped bay dividing the two. The southern plate appears as civilized as the northern yet it extends near the eastern plate, forming a bay between the three plates.

of the civilization in question on the western edge, it is an empire of sorts, recently gone through a tumultuous period of reform and change, while once a collection of city states ruled over by individual senates with a larger senate having one or two representatives from each individual state, it is now ruled by one man and one senate with a representative from each city. the emperor, which is the best description of the position, was installed by the senate as they needed a man with absolute power to herald in a period of change, and as such he has instigated numerous reforms. the first reform was installing one religion as an official religion, a monotheistic religion that has supplanted the polytheistic. also instituted is a military reform, which has allowed for the expansion and development of an empire. previously the military consisted solely on noble levies, as the rich would swear themselves onto a mission, purchase their own gear, and fight. now however, there is a possibility of the poor fighting as well as they are paid for service in battles and supplied and trained with basic gear and techniques. finally there is a cultural reform as well, the emperor has pushed for development of the arts and technology. Each city is now linked by well paved highways, has lighted streets, has an army using a form of gun ((appearing to be a single shot rifle, it is in fact single shot, but is not a rifle, as gunpowder can not be developed on the planet. the rifle uses a small explosion to propel a magnetically charged shot, essentially it is a gauss musket)), and has improved health care and educational facilities. Sadly, this emperor has passed, and is replaced by his son.

the culture itself places high value on hard work and family values, though it is men who work, it is the women who are in charge of the household, couples seem to be generally happy, and families are large, as the father son relationship is different than that found on earth, the father is more a protective figure, a figure that raises and teaches the son, as such, adoptions of males into a family or families are common, as one male might have three or four fathers in different families if he is popular and successful! adoptions of orphans, male or female are taken very seriously, and are also common. adopted orphans are treated as full blooded members of the family, while an "adopted" son is treated as a very close and valued family friend. there is a considerably noticable division between rich and middle class/poor, with the rich owning expansive estates while the middle class and "poor" make up artists, merchants, farmers, craftsmen, and so forth, essentially one acheives wealth and estate ownership only if he is sucessful enough to afford it.

the people call their planet Jyvaal, which means "the land" used in the context of "that is the land, above it is the sky" as apposed to "he owns that land" and the capital of it's nation is located on the peninsula, right on the manmade canal, where it generates large amounts of revenue, sea trade is crucial and profitable, and merchantdom in general is a desired posistion, equated to values placed on lawyers or doctors in terran society. the people in general are normally literate and there are scholars, especially among the rich. in the capital city, near the grand palace and great temple is a massive library complex, hundreds of scribes work tirelessly to copy scrolls brought in by scholars seeking entrance (( as the old emperor decreed that one would need to deposit a sroll or tome or some written work in order to gain acess, the scribes copy this, and return the origional, placing the copy in the vast archives)). the emporer's son, now the new ruler, is an avid lover of literature, and has developed a system to speed up the production and copy of books( similar to a printing press typewriter hybrid). The library itself contains a vast amount of knowledge, and has millions of Jyvaalan written works in it's library with new works being added constantly. The civilization in question might appear primitive, but it's citizens merely lack electricity and gunpowder, which spurred the industrial revolution, they do have combustion engines of a sort, using the new element to generate very tiny nuclear reactions, and along the bay on the capital city' land bridge a merchant by inheritance, scholar by choice is finishing up a newa ship, airtight, and with an improved engine, in hopes to launch himself into the skies....

((ooc: well there you have it, hope thats enough information, if I left something important out please let me know, and I look forward to the establishing of diplomatic realations, it'll be interesting how they treat this "primitive" civilization with weapons that punch holes clean through men :P

"Captain, it seems several other vessels are also in the area. I am picking up telemetry from several fighter type craft as well as capital ships. It seems the two sides are going to square off."

"Damn, this is a civilian vessel. We don't have military grade weapons or sheilds."

"Perhaps if we tell them we are nothing but a bunch of scientist, they will leave us alone."

"Listen to what you are saying, those are military ships and we have discovered an unknown probe. They never keep their nose out of others business. The only thing that has kept any ships away from us is the presence of the other forces. We are on their list, just not at the top."

"I see, what do we do?"

"Continue scanning the probe and report any findings. Also be prepaired to take The Farseer to Space Plus at a moment's notice."

Further on Jyvaal, we find that the celestial region holds many planets open to colonization and expansion. However, given the recent progress in space by the Jyvaalak (("people of Jyvaal")) many immediate planets may be clamed by the growing empire. as for the empire itself, it consists of a complex court system under the emperor or "Bayiz". Ya Bayizjed Jyvaalak "the Empire of jyvaal" consists of an emperor, holding the largest power, followed by a divided court. The court consists of the councils of Najavjed, ((advisors, each province has a council consisting of a representative from each city, each of these councils has a representative advisor (Najav) present at the court, which answer to a grand Najav who reports and advises the Bayiz directly)) Saembajed ((domestic, literally "Collection of women" (( the suffix-jed denotes that the noun forms a collective, or shows that the noun is a organized plural, I.E Bayiz=emperor Bayizjed =empire)) this is made up of a collection of non democratically elected women who advise the emperor on matters, usually headed by the emperor's wife, and consisting of his mistresses)), and Civudjed ((scribes and accountants, the rest of the court, consisting of scribes and accountants, who manage the emperor's treasury and trades and all such matters.)).

Interestingly businesses of jyvaal do not operate in such a manner as in other places. there is an almost total free market. Those who harvest raw materials usually work under an estate or merchantry, as those are the only two things outside of the emperor who will pay for such at a constant rate. miners, loggers, etc are paid by the amount of product they bring to the pay master, as well as paid a set rate per day labored to ensure that they do not grow hungry. Further if one seeks to establish a craft work one can do one of two things, secure steady income working for a merchantry or estate, or take up the craft themselves. if they pursue the latter they must first go through a grueling apprenticeship, in which the apprentice wil not be paid, but given room and board. then there are the merchants, these cunning men establish an almost iron grip on trade routes, they secure and hawk wares, they offer investments to independent store owners and whatnot. the merchants and traders are among the most respected professions in Jyvaal, short of the artists and writers. merchants and traders will often organize into large collectives and form their own hierarchies. this is called a "merchantry" ((as opposed to an estate, which is owned by one family and has a hierarchy)). Finally there are government jobs, these pay the most, but the requirments are the highest. Also, the Emperor's court, and by extension, the Bayiz himself, have total control over the entire economy of Jyvaal. Whle there are systems in place to ensure that an emperor cannot drive his people into total poverty, the emperor can requisistion use of ANY resource and amount he wishes for use in construction and grand projects, paying a sum to compensate. The Emperor also has total control of how many Tyavs are minted, and as such is the richest man in the empire. However, unlike other nations there is no "national budget" all expenses paid by the government must be taken from the emperor's treasury, even his home belongs to the state. ((in this sense he may very well be the best dressed hobo in the universe :D )) however, being as the emperor IS the state, it balances itself out.

Onto the matter at hand, it appears that a space-ready vessel has been constructed and launched, following a nearly dismal initial flight, a second vessel has been prepared for a guided route, the first warp voyage of the Jyvaalak. Already possessing the knowledge of parsecs and advanced astronomy, they have been able to construct a heliocentric model of their system, and have reached a greater understanding of gravity and the universe from their initial flight.

If you are planning on starting this back up again I suggest you compose a post stating either what has happened so far. Your post could either outline what has happened previously in the Thread if you are continuing off where things stopped or you can write something about what happened after the unfinished battle. The choice is yours.
