Looks good, if you RP only a quarter as good as those intricate details from your factbook indicate you do, I'll be a happy mod.

I got most of this from good ol' wikpedia, they have a very good article on Timeline-191. Tomorrow I'm gonna get American Front and Walk in Hell from my local library to see what mistakes the CSA made and how to fix them. Development of barrels is a must.

look for the thread titles 'timeline 191.' It;s an RP we're starting. Come join.

In short, it's 1910, right before WWI, only the Confederacy won the Civil War.

I have no idea what Timeline 191 is, and I really wouldn't know how to look up on it. Would this be like Harry Turtledove's alternate history in which the Union and the CS stayed divided, Europe aligned with the South, etc. etc?

In any case, sounds interesting. Ehrem... what am I supposed to do?

The way the timeline occurs, the South managed to retrieve Lee's Special Orders 191, thereby avoiding the Battle of Antiem (which was caused when the Union found them and ambushed Lee en route) and winning diplomatic recognition from England and France. Twenty years later, the CSA buys Sonora and Chiu-whatever from Mexico to pay off Emperor Maximillian's debts. The US goes to war to stop this, but because of truly bungled military leadership, they fail, get San Fransisco burned by the British, and the northern half of Maine conquered. Cue US' alliance with Kaiser Germany. Fast-forward to WWI, the US and CS are on opposite sides and just aching for the chance to kill each other.

One reviewer on a private site pointed out something that I missed while reading the books. In essence, the US, and all its lofty ideals, are destroyed, and the country (or countries) become just another European power, concerned only with remembering who wronged them and wanting revenge. There are no more good guys, not in Europe, the CSA, or the USA.

Ah.
And the 191 thread was right above this one! :headbang:

So, this would be set in the Great War, then?
BTW, wasn't Al Smith... oh wait, he came later.

Besides, he was the US's president, Jake Featherson was the CSA's president around WWII.

Right, but now it's Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson.
