The Tundrid Fronts
The slow, yet easy, integration of Tundrid lands from the ex-Squornshelous Nation was slowly underway. It was requested that more troops be used to help defend the settelers, but the majority of them were off fighting the anarchists further in-land. A new settlement had been established on a nice-natural curvature, where a new Company was takeing it to their advantage to start creating a man-made bay. As well, a familiar Corporation was preparing to move it's Hokkaido-Karafuto assets into Soverskaya Harbour. They had hired nearly 1,000 Security Personell to start securing an Industrious block which the Corporation wished to aquire, made easy with the air superiority provided by the Imperial Air Forces. As well, it was made to influence nearly 2,000,000 Japanese to set out to help populate the new land, and exploit it's natural resources. Many fisherman took to this oppurtunity, and several farmers who have become seasoned at the winter harvest. It was an economic goldmine for the Empire, and was soon to be under complete Japanese control.
Yet, at the same time, a darker side existed in this war. Notorious, yet unknown to the General Public, was the methods employed to save time and effort. Many Prisoners of War held in Japanese camps began disappearing, some dying with-in 18-24 hours of their arrival. Mostly the wounded ones, that is. Those who were un-harmed, though, were still disappearing. Not at a large rate, but significantly. Behind these curtains of death, there lay certain individuals who sought the useage of the extra man power. Some were to become slaves, others to become a complete suicidal unit. A Regiment had appeared with-in the 27th Division, now known as the 27th Company, known as the 'Deddo' Regiment. Ironically, this word literally translated into dead. It was more of a joke which soon became official, simply put...these men were dead, even if they had not noticed it yet. They were armed with extremely outdated weapons, given only one clip, no warm clothing, and defunct grenades which had a tendancy to go off if they hit the equippie's body too hard. More or less, the Regiment was a scare tactic. It told the enemy -
"Stop fighting, or we'll make sure you will die."
But, there was even more. Some men would end up being put to death by cruel methods of torture and expirementation, and for the entertainment solely of the 27th Company...they'd fight to the death. The survivor, if not mortally wounded, would live on to fight another comrade to the death. Those who were mortally wounded, well, they would simply recieve a metal. Not a medal, though, yet a piece of metal. A cheap, and sometimes dull razor blade. They would be forced to finish them selves off, or suffer the slow and dreaded pain of death. They usually believed cutting their wrists were painless, well not until they began and realized...they barely had the strength to finish it. Regardless, the war had turned into a genocide of sorts.
The war had recieved great approval by the people of the Empire, including most colonial posessions. The Emperor and his Prime Minister recieve appraisal on high levels. Even allies congratulated them on their swift victories, and effective tundra tactics as well as blitzkrieg. This only enticed them to live up to their new found name, that of which was to go further. Japan demanded great glory, and her soldier's demanded great victory. So came to it...further expansionism.
