This is a crime thriller set in New York City.

The human mind is a fragile and complex thing. Yet, despite science's best efforts, much of it is still a mystery. Impulses, learned behavior, though process, memory, etc. Experts try to get inside the minds of people, even killers. There are many things that make a killer, bad upbringings, society, learned behavior, or some other explination. An unknown serial killer stalks the streets of the Big Apple. The victims: random. This killer does not target a single group, he will target both male and female. Young and old. Black and white. As the body count rises, the NYPD race to stop his rampage. Will the authorities stop him before he kills again? Or will he slip away?

Name: Detective John Arberry

History: John's been on the police force for almost fifteen years, ten of those as a New York homicide detective. His career was going well, cracking several big cases, gaining a reputation. One night during a raid he shot at a suspect in the building which turned out to be a kid with a Toy gun. The boy died and he was investigated, sued but cleared. His career began to tatter. John became an alcoholic, his wife divorced him and moved away with his young daughter. Since then he's seen the psychiatrists several times and even thought of suicide but could never do it. He still feels as though he can do good and is a good man at heart.

History: Starting with a job in blue, he often quips that "if you named it he has done it." He joined S.W.A.T. as first a sharpshooter than a team leader after 4 years and left after 5, did a year in vice and was a detective in narcotics for 7 years, gaining lots of experiance from a DEA agent he was assisting during one of his investigations. He then left to become a Homicide detective, and is now a sargent. He has been married 2 times and is a single parent to a 16 year old girl, Sophia. He has always allowed his work to interfear with his personal life, though he is a good father by all accounts. His combined investigations and arrests have led to almost 15,000 man years over the course of his career being handed out. A Brooklyn native, he loved this city in his younger days of wearing the shield, but as time went on and more cases came, he began to hate every inch of this god forsaken place and is planing to take his retirement. But is faced with leaving the badge behind, something he has never thought of doing even in the darkest moment in his long NYPD history. He Believes in what he does to the core of himself though.

History: Rufus was born in the ghetto of New York. He pretty much hasn't left since. He spends his days wandering the streets of New York. When he isn't wandering around, he tends to his small store, selling junk to those stupid enough to buy it. He is a very observant man, thanks in part to his insomnia and paranoia. This also explains the short-barrel shotgun and GLOCK-9 under the register of his shop.

thanks my dad is a 13 year veteran in laval, a large city near montreal so he gave me some pointers, also i know alot of police officers i am good friends with through my dad. so i would love to apply this to my character through the story.
