"...but be wary, son of thunder and slayer of giants! For to meddle in the matters of dragons is no simple task and to hunt them inconceivable. Be cautious, when you hunt for the dragon- the hunter may quickly become the hunted."

Major Yuan Shu groaned as he shook himself out of bed. He noted, with the little thought he could spare from his muddled condition, that his second in command had come in to wake him if the need arose. "I'm up," he grunted out, sitting up and massaging his temple. He wasn't an early riser, and even the hours of sleep that the team had gotten wasn't enough for his body. A few more hours in a luxurious feather bed...groggily shaking his head to clear it of sleep (and the idle daydream he had just been considering), Shu hauled himself to his feet. "Situation, Deng?"
As Lieutenant Deng began to go over the roster of active and ready men, Shu slipped into his clothing for the mission. A thermos of hot tea was handed to him by Deng as the two quietly exited the small room that they had been sleeping in, moving to the point that they were to meet the rest of the team. They had scattered throughout the area, as suspicion might arise if many men dressed in dark clothing exited adjacent buildings simultaneously at an extremely early hour. It didn't present much of a problem, either. There would have been a rendezvous point somewhere no matter what and now they could proceed to it without that nagging fear that would have accompanied them otherwise.
T-minus two hours and Shu was already anxious to get started, as the small part of the team that was near his position began their drive to the designated point.

Sheadong Missile Complex, PRC
The base was silent, the mind-numbingly early hour contributing to the passivity of the guard force inside. Every man that had volunteered for the mission (and who were then hand-picked) had already seen the layout of the base, which was easy to infer from satellite photos and plans that had been obtained through some very expensive means. The team was in position, weapons oiled and primed. Shu looked at his watch, nodded to the second-in-command, and tapped his radio twice.
They were going under the wire. The assault teams sprinted towards the wire fence, their prerogative to get out of the open ground that was the killing field around the compound. Having successfully completed that, they began artfully snapping holes in the perimeter security, able to work without fear as the bad angle at which any guard houses might see prevented the lounging (and napping) guards from getting a decent view. Their work complete, the assault teams prepared to push their way through the numerous openings.
Their signal was another two taps over the radio, followed by simultaneous sounds of breaking glass. The snipers, hidden above the compound, were exacting a terrible price on the guards. Silenced rifles continued to snap out shots as the assault team nimbly pushed its way into the perimeter, the main elements close behind.

"Comrade Colonel, guard posts One and Three are not answering."
Colonel Wen Hu-Tse tried to shake the sleepiness out of his system, but failed. "Contact the guard posts nearest them and see what those idiots are doing." When he received the word that those guard posts also weren't replying, he woke up. Quickly. "Turn on the cameras! I want to see what the hell is going on!"
Sheadong Missile Complex, PRC
Cameras scattered throughout the complex suddenly sputtered to life- along with the lights that were mounted on them to ensure that the cameras could actually see anything. The PRC's military equipment was so obsolete that even effective night-vision cameras weren't included in their arsenal. "Turn off the fucking lights!" screamed Shu, and his men proceeded to do just that. The lights were quickly hosed down with automatic weapons, and the lights (and cameras) were quickly off. But there was a problem.
The operation had been seen. "Get to your positions!" yelled Shu over his radio. "WE don't have time for anything now!" Pulling out a detonation pack that he'd prepared for the mission, Shu ran to where his team had already pried open the maintenance hatch on a silo and had exposed the delicate missile inside.
Command Bunker Alpha, Sheadong Missile Complex, PRC
"Comrade Minister, we have a problem." Colonel Hu-Tse was visibly shaking as he began to communicate the depth of the emergency to the Minister of Defense, back in Beijing. A Minister who, at this early time, was apart from both the Politburo and his own staff.
"What the hell is so important you're waking me at this time!"
"Comrade, we're.... we're under attack, by a group of commandos."
The Minister's voice visibly stopped short over the phone. "You mean....but...but...No! Muster your forces and repel the attackers! This is an order!"
"Comrade Minister, do you understand the gravity of this situation? The guards are all dead. We have no contact with any nearby bases, as our communications are being jammed. This command bunker is all that is left, besides the missiles, and those are being destroyed as we speak!"
"Then launch. We have to launch."
Hu-Tse paled. "Comrade?"
"Verification Alpha-Niner-Bravo-Theta. You will launch your missiles against the imperialists, or they will be destroyed on the ground."
"Very well, Comrade. I am-" And with that, the line went dead, as the sound of an explosion penetrated the earth even to the bunker. Looking at his subordinate, the Colonel snapped at the man. "You heard the conversation! Get to your ready position! Verification has been received- launch all payloads!"
Sheadong Missile Complex, PRC
Against all odds, the operation was so far a success. Shu smiled as he heard another team report that they were moving to their next missile. It was a cakewalk....'Best not to get overconfident' he thought to himself. That's when the klaxons began going off. And when the silos began opening, he didn't just yell, he began screaming over the radio.
Command Bunker Alpha, Sheadong Missile Complex, PRC
"Sequence complete."
"Sequence complete."
"I will now activate the complex's firing solution."
"I verify that you will activate the firing solutions."
"Solutions activated. I am launching in ten seconds."
"The launch is verified. The full launch is verified."
Sheadong Missile Complex, PRC
Shu watched as the carefully orchestrated strike fell apart before him. A squad detonated their explosives as an armed missile began clearing the silo, detonating the entire ting in an enormous fireball that not only consumed them but also destroyed a missile that was taking off nearby. Shu observed with a detached horror as another squad managed to detonate a missile with only their grenades, incinerating themselves in the process. Every man in the complex lit up the sky with automatic weapons fire as they tried to bring the remaining missiles down. One was actually damaged enough by that to crash into the far side of the complex, illuminating the entire countryside in a massive glow.
But it wasn't enough. Four missiles got away, and as the bullets fell short, Shu and his men beat a hasty retreat to their designated retrieval point. Shu was weeping as the helicopters took of with them aboard. Their mission had failed.

The complex had gone completely silent as the strike's effects became apparent. At first, there had been some level of joy that was rippling through the military officers assembled,. as always, in their secure command center, but the thermal blooms of successful launches dispelled all such happiness.
"Tracking Vampires One through Four," announced one of the highest-ranked analysts in the room, reporting directly to the commander of the complex. "We have their projected impact sites. Data are being transmitted now." This was accompanied by a gasp of dismay. Every missile was headed for a city- they weren't targeting military complexes, but civilian population centers.
UARSTRATCOM Headquarters, Kara-Köl, Kyrgyzstan
"...projected impact points are as follows: Almaty, Ashgabat, Samarkand, and Tashkent. Impact in one hour for Ashgabat, less than 30 minutes for Tashkent and Almaty. Will update as information continues to be received."
General Koslov hung up the phone with a shudder. Every military installation was already at full alert and he was sure something was going to be done to try to save the government... but there were millions of civilians who hadn't a chance to get out in time. "Colonel..." he choked out, stopping momentarily to get a grip on himself. "Colonel... prepare targeting solutions. And institute Plan Vishnu."
Koslov's wife, Maria, lived in Samarkand. But he couldn't think about that- not now! There might still be some way to stop the missiles, or evacuate... or she could be in a spot away from ground zero...
Tashkent, Uzbekistan, UARCA
Premier Navarbayevs cursed as he was thrown bodily into a military plane that sat idling on the runway. He tried to turn, but an oxygen mask was already being wedged onto his face. "General!" he managed to cough out, before the mask was fully over. "Where... are..." The commander in chief of his armed forces merely saluted, eyes tearing up, as he ran away from the interceptor which quickly roared away. The Premier was important enough to try to save.... so, for that matter, was he, but the Premier's family didn't live in Tashkent.
"Get me to my house, Lieutenant" snapped Aimonov as he climbed back into his staff car. "Unless you've got somewhere else to be." The man sadly shook his head.
"My family's in Tashkent too, sir. I'll be going to them after I drop you off, if that's fine with you."
They sped off, as the blooms of jet aircraft sparked off the runway into the sky. Tashkent was in chaos, as the city tried to flee. The government had made the announcement about an impending attack, and those who weren't staying put were desperately trying to flee to any place but the capital of the UARCA. It was probably the same in any city, thought Aimonov to himself. But he didn't have a choice- he wouldn't save himself to sacrifice his family.
Strike Force Desperation, UARCA Airspace
Commander Markovky was fixed on one salient purpose. This was what his years of training and million-dollar flights had come down to- this one, last mission. It was a suicide mission, but there were more volunteers than planes available. He'd been chosen- he had a wife and two young children that were in Samarkand and that had apparently been enough to convince his superiors that he'd be ready for the mission.
That, and his highest scores in the test runs in simulators, he thought sadly to himself. Sadly, because the culmination of his years of study was this: him, strapped in an interceptor which was loaded to the brim with explosive, a detonator in his hand. It was what every many in every Strike Force going up had- one chance to try to stop the unstoppable path of the monstrous ICBMs before they reached a point where they'd detonate.
A tear ran down his face, as he thought of Svetlana and Mikhail, Irinia's and his children. No matter what happened, he'd never see them again. But maybe- just maybe- they'd see a future, if he succeeded. And it was with that thought that he, and the hundreds of other volunteers, sped to their doom- and their meeting with destiny.
Aimonov Family Home, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, UARCA
General Aimonov was trying to hold back the tears that were right now falling down his face. He and his family, unable to move Maria from her bed due to the medical equipment she required, were all there, together. Himself. Maria. Her mother and father. They all watched the world outside their balcony window, watched and prayed. Prayed for themselves, for the rest of their family- and for the rest of Tashkent.
The ululating sound of prayers rose in a macabre scene from the massive mosque a few blocks away, worshipers crammed into the streets around it. This was the first time in decades that Muslims mingled with Jews and Christians alike, all faiths united in their impending demise. Aimonov recalled the incongruous sight he had seen on his way home, that merely made him sense all the more the unreality of the situation- the rabbi and imam of two radical places of worship, once enemies, embracing like small children, tears streaming down both their faces.
Forgiveness could come to anyone, even those once-bitter enemies. Aimonov smiled as he turned to his wife and her parents. "It's all right- we go to God together." That was when the world ended, in a ferociously bright blast that made Aimonov think to himself, moments before all reasoning fled, of the first sunrise he had ever seen in his life.

Despite all the best efforts of the suicide crews- and that's what they had been, those brave young people who had thrown themselves up in explosive-laden planes- three missiles had gotten through. And three of the largest cities of the UARCA now lay burning, radioactive heaps of what once had been great cities. And then, to compound things, the highest-ranked member of the government was dropped off.
Dropped off by a jet, but dropped off nonetheless. Almost immediately after setting down and being refueled, it was back in the air, in case the PRC had been tracking it. Which, despite it being gone, left the Premier of the entire UARCA to be protected by General Koslov.
'No,' though Koslov to himself, 'Marshal Koslov.' That had been one of the first acts of the Premier upon arrival, as Koslov was the highest-ranking military officer left alive and was immediately elevated not only to the rank of Marshal, but position as commander-in-chief of the entire armed forces of the UARCA and Defense Minister besides that! It seemed that the government hadn't been able to get itself fully out of Tashkent in time.... nor Ashgabat or Almaty. The Premier seemed to be taking it quite well, which was why Koslov had called the conference that was now beginning.
"Premier, with your position?" After receiving the nod, Koslov moved in front of the assembled officers. "Here's the situation as we can best make of it. After tracking the Chinese nuclear missiles to their bases, I think it safe to say that the PRC no longer has any long-ranged strategic capabilities left. Moreover, their government appears to be in chaos with our intelligence pointing to an emergency meeting being convened right now in Beijing."
He gestured to the screen behind him, and figures began to appear on it. The room descended into a shocked silence and the Premier began to turn white. "As you can see, these are projected casualty figures from the strike. Targeting of major civilian centers, as well as the utilization of the warhead sizes that appear to have impacte4d have led to the massive losses that we are currently projecting. Almost as important, the environmental impact of the strike will be expanded upon later in this briefing."
Officers whispered amongst themselves as they studied the rushed reports they had received. Casualties were expected- after all, it was a nuclear attack- but over three million total casualties? It was staggering- That was almost 3% of the total population of the UARCA gone in one attack! Moreover, intelligence had no idea as to the status of foreign missions in Tashkent and the casualty figures from those embassies would be liable to add to the impact of the attack.
Koslov continued. "The attack destroyed outright a number of critical transportation junctures, as well as hobbling heavy industry in a number of areas, though the expansion of industry allowed that blow to be mitigated." He didn't need to add that, despite being mitigated, some sectors of the economy would be gutted after the attacks. "In another silver lining, military capabilities have not been overly affected, though there are losses to certain units and commands. Nonetheless, the military chain of command is alive and well and our forces are fully prepared for any action deemed necessary."
A glance at the Premier showed that a final decision still had not been made on what the appropriate response would be. Pushing aside his personal views on that issue (the Premier already knew of them and Koslov's desire for an irradiated stretch of land that would encompass most of northeastern China), he moved on to the final part of his briefing.
"Now, the environmental impact. Large swaths of crops will be affected by fallout, particularly from the Almaty strike. Another danger is radioactive waste being carried beyond out borders- foreign nations dodged a bullet in this case, because with the recent snowfall ground was damp enough not to have produced a massive surge of radioactive dust. Nonetheless, with wind patterns as they are, radiation is even now drifting across the Caspian towards the UCR and I strongly urge that we contact them regarding this- contamination could affect half their country! We're extremely lucky in that respect, as besides the crops being affected the strikes were in places such that the UARCA could not be easily exposed to any radioactive drift. That's the situation in brief, though your reports do go into much deeper detail. The question is now- what do we do? I've already stated that the military is fully prepared to implement any orders, but we've got to figure out what those orders are going to be."
Deliberations took less than one hour. The gears of government and military began to roll- ponderously at first, but quickly as the shell-shocked nation began to react.

Open Broadcast, Secure Location, UARCA
My fellow citizens, I come to you in this time of great distress to affirm the grievous injuries that the UARCA has endured. It is with horror that I reacted when I learned of the expected results of the foul and unprovoked attack by the PRC upon the UARCA, results which will shock you to the depths of your souls. Tashkent is destroyed. Ashgabat lies in ruins. Almaty is but cinders. Three of the great cities of the UARCA lay in smoldering ruins- because of the heinous assault by the PRC!
Millions of citizens, people who had no quarrel with the political masters in the PRC, lie dead. The infrastructure of the UARCA is in shambles- law and order has degraded. The heart of our nation is radioactive rubble and it is through no fault of ours! No, it is the foul depravations of an insidious enemy who has created this holocaust of fire, to descend down upon the UARCA. Our estimates as of this point are in agreement- this attack will be the bloodiest, most horrific attack in the history of the world. Over three million citizens are projected to be dead when all is said and done- and their blood lies upon the hands of the leadership of the PRC.
It is with utter disgust that I look upon that wretched, criminal government. This is not a quarrel with the people who inhabit the PRC, or with ethnic Chinese who may lay within or without our border. No, this is a struggle with the military and political leadership, a group of men so foul that they would allow the wholesale slaughter of millions! It is with cold resolve that I activate the emergency powers granted to me in our national constitution, powers that will enable the bill of blood to be paid to the slaughterers who condoned the attacks upon the UARCA!
I doubt that there is a person not affected by this attack in some way. I doubt that the recovery will be quick or easy. But I do not- I do not- doubt that the fury of the UARCA will be left pent up, unreleased against the scum who dared commit wholesale genocide and order the largest crime in human history. The blood of millions demands it! The death toll requires punishment, requires that furious vengeance be leveled against the mass murderers who committed this atrocity upon humanity! Elements of the armed forces of the UARCA are even now beginning attacks upon the PRC, seeking only the justice that is due.
I assure you, citizens, and citizens of the world, that harsh treatment will not be levied upon any civilians or any personnel who surrender judiciously and quickly. Our quarrel is with the military and government of the PRC, elements that are so corrupt as to be undeserving of any further power. It is with strength that the units called to serve will move forward, and it is with strength that the UARCA shall pass out of this terrible ordeal stronger for it!

[OOC- This letter sent to every nation possible]
Diplomatic Communiqué
It is with great gravity that we confirm that a nuclear attack has taken place, perpetrated by the PRC in an unprovoked and foul assault upon the UARCA. This communiqué is sent for a number of reasons. First, the environmental impact projections is enclosed, specifically the wind patterns and expected radioactive fallout from the attack. The UCR and possibly the Emirate of ALM or Great Romeo may be affected, though as of this point we believe only the UCR will have levels high enough to warrant a warning.
Second, we express our condolences to any nation with diplomats or diplomatic staff in the UARCA. Tashkent is still too radioactive to risk attempting to verify anything, but the level of the blast is almost assuredly enough that your diplomatic personnel wire all killed. Our deepest sympathies go out, but we are as of now unable to do anything special for your nation- we are in deep mourning ourselves, as you can easily guess.
Any further questions should be addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, contact info for which is enclosed in this letter. May God, Allah, and Buddha protect.

Regent Windsor was reclined in a leather sofa, reading over a War-Readiness report. That is when it happened.
His Red telephone began to ring. He ignored it, but soon, his other telephones began to ring, even the one to the messenget room. He glared at his array of colored telephones and heaved himself off of the sofa, and dragged himself to his red telephone-the Military's phone.
"This is Regent Windsor. State your Buisness."
"Nuclear Detonation detected."
"Gimmie the facts."
"3 Detonations detected in the UCRA, launched from China. Reports sugest millions dead."
Regent Windsor sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"What assets do we have in Russia...?"
"We have the 221st Miliraty Police Batallion, preparing to return home from patroling the Siberian Pipeline. Great Romeoian Armed forces have taken over the patrols, and..."
"Ok. Have the 221st preped for feild combat. Send over as many ospreys as they need. I want China's nuclear capabilities to be knocked out, ASAP."
"Yes sir..."
*CLICK* Regent windsor hung up the phone and reached for a silver telephone to the left of the red one. He picked it up.
"Greetings, whoever you are, order the 221st Military Police Batallion to be preped for combat, im sending them into the PRC."
"Yes sir, your will shall be done!"
"I know it will." Regent Windsor said, hanging up the phone.
-Southern Russia-
The men all waited in anticipation. They had never been in live combat before. Sure, a few ahd been in the occasional shoot-out as civilian Police, but this... this was the real-deal. They were all huddled together in their barracks, the small bamnd of men either praying, looking over their weapons, or writing letters to loved ones. A nuclear detonation had apparently occured, and it was the Empire's Policy to cease such things. No Nuclear Detonation would be tolerated. But, the Empire was already at war. So, the solution?
The 221st, of all things. It was their mission to kill the PRC's Missle Command, located in some obscure desoalte part of the PRC. There was, or course, little chance for success. And an even smaller chance of being rescued IF the command base was taken. All of the men knew this, and they all knew it was for the greater good. No more nukes. If they had to lay down their lives so millions of other people could live, so be it.

Special News Bulletin!
The World was rocked this week, after three Nuclear ICMBs hit three of the UARCA's Cities, turning them into rubble and motlen slag. An Estimated 3 Million are dead, with millions more injured, irridiated, and/or homeless. These attacks have also ruined much of the nearby crops and land. UCR Government Analysts have predicted that widespread famine might hit the UARCA as early as 3 months to as long as a 1 year. The famines may last as long as 2 years, but most analysts say it will last at least 6 months.
Andrei Johnson has announced that within 2 weeks to a month, 50,000 UCR Troops will move into the UARCA to assist with cleaning the Fall-Out, providing medical help to those in need, and to keep the peace. Additional troops are available if the UARCA deems it so. He has also asked the farmers of the UCR to donate at least 3% of their crops this year to the UARCA. He reccomends that they try to get as much as they can.
The City of Tehran, has opened it's arms for as many refugees as it can. All refugees of the UARCA are asked to please try and make your way to the city of Tehran. You will find food, and medical care there. Shelter will be forth-coming as construction teams and companies are moved into action.
Due to the strike at Ashgabat, the President has also proceeded to announce that the shores of the Caspian are dangerous and that no-one should go onto them, without good reason. Radiation from the strike has a good chance to reach our shores. Citizens of the Ardabil and Azerbaijan Republics are told that should any sign of radiation be found on themselves, they should check themselves into one of the many Radiation Clinics being set-up along the coast. Also the construction of the Trans-Caucacus Canal will be stopped as any more work could push the Radiation into the Black Sea.

Talks in the Communist palace, Shanghai
Hu Jintao, president and chairman of the Asian Chinese Communist Party (ACCP), and his right hand Zhao Ziyang (General Secretary of the ACCP), was shocked by the news from UARCA. Sure, they knew Beijing China (as it's called in Asian China) was capable of launching ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads, but they were shocked by the surprising nuclear attack at UARCA.
-What shall we do now? said Zhao Ziyang. We must react in some way.
-Yes, of course. And we must react with utmost power! We cannot sit here and wait to be the next one to be nuked. We must take the launch sites aimed at us out of action. I think we should send in the Special Operation Forces to put out the sites. answered Hu Jintao.
-I think that will take to long. It must be better to take them out by air strikes. said Zhao.
Hu Jintao pressed the button on his intercom, and began to speak:
-Li, please look up which of the Beijing launching sites are suspected to be aimed at us.
Li Changchun is the head of the ACCP Central Leading Group for Propaganda (Publicity) and Ideological Work, and if someone knew the answer to Hu's question, it must be Li.
-Okay, sir, I'll come back to you in a minute! said Li.
-Maybe we should launch Dong Feng's at the missile sites? said Zhao after he thought about the possibilities once more.
BEEP – the intercom sounded, and Hu pressed the button once more.
-Mr. president, as far as I can see there are two sites with missiles aimed at us. Yido in Shandong Sheng and Luoning in Henan Sheng.
-Ok, thank you Li. Zhao, we need to make up a strategy here.
Asian China
07-01-2007, 14:09
-I've thought about what you said, Zhao, and I must admit that you're having your bright moments sometimes. Here's what we'll do: First, launch three DongFengs at both Yido and Luoning, they should make the job. Second, send in airplanes to bomb the launch sited, just to be sure that nobody survives, or at least, makes sure that the launch sites are put out of action. Hu Jintao was satisfied with his plan.
-That may work, Mr. President. said Zhao.
-Good, I'll give the orders right away!
Hu picked is his phone and rang in the orders to the missile launch complex in Lianxiwang, Anhui Sheng.
Three hours later, Lianxiwang Launch Complex
The activity was very high. The Dong-Feng 21 short-range ballistic missiles were prepared for launch. This time the nuclear warheads were replaced with conventional ones.
Deputy Commander Li Qianming was supervising the preparations. The order to prepare the missiles was received three hours ago, and the missiles should be ready anytime now. The Dong-Feng 21 missiles should be prepared for launch at Yido and Luoning.
-Sir, it's my duty to inform you that the missiles are ready for launch! said private Hinghiu.
-Good work, Hinghiu. answered Qianming. Enter the launch codes, and the target coordinates into the missile launch system.
Three men on each missile immediately began to work with the launching units, and five minutes later they told Li Qianming they were ready for launch.
Li Qinaming gave the launch order, and two of the Dong Feng 21 missiles roared and left the Launch Complex in Lianxiwang. Within five minutes, the next pair of two Dong Fengs left the silos, and ten minutes later the last two missiles roared away from Asian China. Three of the missiles was on their way to Yido, and the other three towards Luoning. They should hit their targets within twenty minutes.
Qianming informed the president of the successful launch, and Hu Jintao started to write a message.
To: UARCA
We have just launched a couple of missiles towards missile launching sites in Beijing China. We want to inform you that we're not launching missiles towards your territory, should you have detected the launch.

Operation Lethal Accountability
The attack happened almost the instant that the Premier's address was finished. A wave of cruise missiles had been launched as he began to speak, and they impacted across much of the PRC's border with the UARCA at almost the exact instant the speech finished, more through happenstance than prior planning. The effect of the attack was instantaneous and devastating. Over 50 missiles had been launched, most targeted at the air defense infrastructure of the PRC. Radar was a difficult object to hide, and satellite overpasses had revealed almost the entire layout of the aerial defensive network.
Almost 80% of the network was either destroyed or damaged beyond functionality in the first wave of missiles. It was as if some giant hand had reached over and flicked off a switch, turning the air defense grids over the PRC dark. The vast majority of the rest of the network was blown to pieces a few minutes later by a wave of anti-radiation missiles launched by attacking planes who already were streaking back to friendly territory to rearm and refuel as Chinese planes took to the air.
Their disorganized attempts at resistance were easily brushed aside by a very determined attack, aided by airborne command planes and the devastation visited upon the defense networks. It may very well have been a better response for the PRC's air force to stay on the ground- as it was, the piecemeal attacks did next to nothing to the Republican Air Force and led to destruction of most planes that had been sent up. The aerial combat continued, but there was next to nothing that the Chinese could do to get rid of the aerial superiority that had quickly been established by the UARCA.
At that point, about an hour in to the attack, ground forces began their first moves. Chinese screening forces were rapidly brushed aside as a total of 64 divisions smashed into the People's Republic of China. The war had been divided into three distinct theatres of operation, each receiving its own Army Group comprised of 16 divisions. And it was with these three separate hammers that the PRC was going to be pounded apart, one city at a time. If, that was, the cities and armed units within the PRC resisted. At this early stage in the war, there was no attempt to even guess how much resistance would be faced- it might range from pathetic to foolishly determined. That was why tactical NBC weaponry was within easy access range- the UARCA was not going to idly sit by and let a nation who had callously murdered millions stay untouched by war.
This was to be exactly like wars that those in some areas of China had experienced in the far past. There really would be annihilation if they attempted to bloody their attackers too much. It remained to be seen, however, with what type of weapon they would be destroyed- a choice that the PRC had made themselves when they launched a nuclear attack.
President Jintao,
I was happy to receive your communications regarding your attack upon the barbaric murderers in the PRC- the threat of an unprovoked nuclear assault is something that no sane nation can sit idly by and observe. It does both you and your nation a great service to open a line of communications with us regarding your impending strike- mistakes have happened, after all, so it's best to prevent them.
I wish to communicate to you my hope for a meeting, so that we can discuss any further actions that your nation might feel necessary to take with regards to the PRC. Already, units of the Republican Guard are moving rapidly into the PRC and the Republican Air Force has smashed the PRC's aerial defenses that oppose us. It is my goal, and my nation's, to bring security to our country but also to the PRC- something that our armed forces are undertaking as we speak.
But, in any action such as this, dialogue between neighbors is always the best option and feel obliged, in a way, to meet with you and communicate both our goals and listen to your viewpoint on the situation.
Yours,
Premier Navarbayevs

SIC communication to UARCA:
Dear Mr. Navarbayevs,
First I want to tell you that we feel with your losses due to the coward attacks by the PRC (or Beijing China as it's called here in Asian China).
Reports from our counter attack against the missile launching sites should be in any minute, and I'm almost sure the silos are gone now. If they somehow should have survived our attack they will be put out of action by the PLAAF pilots, which are about to take off within an hour.
I think it's a good idea to have a meeting and exchange experiences and tactics. I invite you, or a representative, to Shanghai to discuss this issue further. I understand if you find it hard to leave your country in these days, and in such case I'm ready to make a visit in UARCA.

President Jintao,
As I'm sure you are more than aware of, my ability to travel outside the country is currently somewhat hampered by the need to be able to address a number of major issues n a timely manner. As such, I have to ask that either you or representatives come to the UARCA for discussions. I'd also suggest that air travel might not be the best mode of transportation at this time- with the situation unfolding in the People's Republic and the high alert our air defenses are on, I don't want to risk even the slightest chance of injuring any delegation sent by the PRAC.
If you could make your way with all due diligence to Urumchi, Xinjiang I would be happy to hold a meeting there with either you or those you choose to send. We can take up a military escort at the point you cross our border, though anything that might occur by land is extremely unlikely, as your route through your western provinces and then up so as to avoid the fighting taking place to your north is considered extremely safe by both myself and our military leadership.
Yours,
Premier Navarbayevs
Army Group Center, Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, PRC
Constant air strikes, made possible by the rapid degradation that the PLAAF had experienced across the region, were bringing PLA countermeasures against Center's rapidly advancing armored probes to various stages of failure. The sight of burning Chinese armored vehicles could be seen at almost every major crossroad and transit center in the path of Center, the air force smashing apart anything that could be seen as mildly dangerous to the advancing forces.
Artillery units were having trouble keeping up with the rapid pace of advance- their targets, command posts and headquarters units of opposing PLA units, would be destroyed but that took time- and every moment they fired, the forward movement of the divisions they belonged to left artillery units, even self-propelled, farther and farther behind. A bit worrying, but commanders weren't concerned- at this stage, it was good that this was their primary worry.
Army Group South, Shaanxi Province, PRC
Much the same stayed true for forces in South, though they had a much longer path to take to get to the expected end of their offensive. As such, and because they had less forces concentrated against them, they were moving at an even faster pace than either Army Group North, moving into the Manchurian regions of China and dealing with a more heavily industrialized area, Army Group Center, who was on an almost direct path towards Beijing and the associated size of the forces lined up in opposition.
No, Army Group South's problem was the sheer size of the area that they had to cover rapidly- they needed to cut across almost the entirety of the PRC. They benefited from a larger reserve than either of the other two fronts, mainly because they would be expected to break apart into several paths at some point. Nonetheless, most units were barely stopping to fire weapons- any enemy units not destroyed by air strikes were merely isolated by rapidly moving advance forces and neutralized by units behind them.

Premier Navarbayevs,
As this is the far most important issue on the agenda in these days, I'll attend to the meeting personally. We will fly to Lhasa Gonggar Airport, Tibet, and from there we will go by car to Urumchi, Xinjiang. We can arrive in Urumchi in three days from now, and I'm sure that there will be no problems during this trip.

Two of the six missiles failed to hit the silos. One missed the silo complex in Yido by two kilometers, and air defense batteries in Luoning shot one missile down. The remaining four DongFeng's did however make a good work, and devastating explosions lit up both the Yido and the Luoning missile launching sites.
One bomber division with H6 bombers (28th, 29th and 30th Regiments), three fighter divisions (9 regiments) and one attack division (76th, 77th and 78th Regiments) left the air bases in northeastern Asian China just minutes after the impacts of the missiles. Their mission was to weaken Beijing Chinas border defenses towards Asian China, and put out as much as possible of the air force and air defense in Henan and Shandong Shengs.

Army Group South, Shanxi Province, PRC
"Don't you think it's a little dangerous for you to be leading this close to the front, Sir?" asked Captain Katrina Anatolya, she of sniping fame, who had recently been promoted to (of all places) a staff position under General Shoskovin, commander of Army Group South. Her features were as etched with worry and sleeplessness as they had been in every military campaign she had taken place in, but this one was a little different than most others. No shell fragments to doge. No enemy officers to snipe. Just one very impetuous general to try to protect.
"Nonsense, Katrina. You're just worrying unnecessarily again. Besides, if I don't visit the advance forces every so often how will they know I still care?" The radioman in the command vehicle snorted, trying to suppress a chuckle he knew would get him a punch from Anatolya.
She chose the shoulder that time. "Sir, I know that we haven't had much trouble in the last few days, but I don't think it's advisable to come this close to the front. Just because we haven't seen the enemy does not mean he isn't out-" An explosion outside, far too close for comfort, cut off her sentence. "-Fuck."
What looked like the biggest mass of men in the world was coming straight at the column, drawn unerringly to the command vehicle by the radio apparatus sprouting from its roof. It seemed like the enemy commander had just given up everything from the UARCA border to Shanxi for lost and held his troops back for a counterattack- one designed to cut off the advancing forces and destroy the spearhead. And the attack just so happened to choose the sector that Army Group South's commander was touring.
'No time for that' thought Captain Anatolya, bracing herself as their driver reversed as quickly as he could, swinging past burning vehicles and small clumps of men fighting for their lives. That was when they hit the mine.
Anatolya staggered from the burning wreck, blood pouring from her nose and ears. The command vehicle was gone- she had been lucky enough to have been thrown from it by the force of the explosion. Every other occupant was now small chunks across the dusty landscape. 'Small burning chunks' came the shudder-inducing thought, as she turned away from the immolated vehicle. A Lieutenant came running up to her, yelling something, but it took a moment for her to be able to hear him once again.
"Ma'am, we've got Commies coming at us from three sides. What are your orders?"
Anatolya was confused for a moment. 'Why the hell is he asking me? Why would I know? The General...shit. The General is in pieces across this hellhole.' Wiping the blood from her face, she looked around at the advance, which was momentarily in shambles. "Lieutenant Mahmoud, first get me a radio. Then get this force formed up in some semblance of order."
As he began screaming orders to subordinates, she began screaming into the radio that was provided.
Strike Wing Bravo, Army Group South Support Command, PRC
"-and I needed that support fucking yesterday!" came the very angry voice over the command plane's radio. "Little bitchy today, aren't we?" murmured the radio operator as he checked the availability of strike groups. "Just hold onto your tits, Captain. I've got a strike inbound- should hit in thirty seconds. Get your men the hell away from the ChiComms- they'll be going too fast to differentiate between groundpounders."
Army Group South, Shanxi Province, PRC
"Fucker" swore Anatolya under her breath as she threw the radio back to the Corporal who was holding it. "Get your men the hell away from the enemy Lieutenant! she screamed, ducking under a T-90 whose main gun nearly deafened her again as it fired at an advancing cluster of infantry. "We've got air coming in right fucking now!"
That was when the world lit on fire. Napalm, released by the loitering strike force, immolated whatever it touched to three sides of the beleaguered Republican Guard unit, and the roar of flames was mixed with screams of burning and dying Chinese soldiers. She was sure that some men from the UARCA unit had their screams mixed in as well- that strike had been a little too close for comfort. "Fucking flyboys." As other air strikes began pounding whatever was left moving, Captain Anatolya began to get the unit moving again. Only a few kilometers separated them from the spearhead and she meant to make up that distance as quickly as possible.

Marshal Koslov sighed as he looked at the map, looked at his watch, and back at the map. He then buried his head in his arms on the conference table. His aide elbowed him. "Dmitri, you can stay awake another half hour" he muttered under his breath to the sleepy commander of the UARCA's armed forces.
Koslov rapidly blinked his eyes. "But it's so fucking boring!" he whispered back, turning once again to the map's display and the intelligence officer's droning report. The map showed blinking overlays of UARCA forces who were advancing into the PRC, as well as known Asian Chinese forces and their locations. Army Group South looked to be moving through the Shanxi province, while Center was slowly grinding its way towards Beijing. Army Group North was making its way across Chinese Manchuria, producing a striped effect across the map of the PRC. Three daggers stabbing into the heart of the PRC. Three arrows of vengeance. And three more hours of the most boring presentation he had heard since he left the academy...Koslov groaned and sank back onto the table again.

Premier Navarbayevs warmly greeted President Jintao, ushering him into the room where they were to convene. "President, I hope that the security managed to stay far enough out of sight that your trip wasn't cluttered up by their view. And I thank you for coming. Now, time to get to the dull business we have ahead of us." Navarbayevs smiled as he gestured to a chair opposite him for the leader of Asian China to sit in. "I expect you know we've made major inroads into the PRC. What I want to discuss is a possible plan so that we might both be able to...ahh...strike at the oppressive regime residing in Beijing. I welcome any of your thoughts on your military preparedness, then I'll show to you the plan that our military prepared in the event you would sign on to this."

President Jintao shook Navarbayevs hand and thanked him for the security escort during the trip.
- The trip was just like a vacation, no disturbances in sight. And your security teams did a great work behind the scenes.
Hu Jintao sat down on the chair, and took a zip of water. He took up some papers from his briefcase.
- I'm glad the campaign is making progress, and I understand that we both should gain on coordinating our forces when they're coming closer to each other. We are currently launching heavy air strikes towards Shandong and Henan Shengs, and we're opening three new land fronts towards these two Shengs from Hubei, Anhui and Jiangsu Shengs. Our plan is to secure these two Shengs before we make any further progress towards Beijing. We're having a very large amount of troops ready for action, and we're open to discuss the tactics with you. Did you have a plan you wanted me to look at?

Henan Sheng
Two land fronts were opened towards Henan Sheng. The first one came from the south towards the cities of Xinyang and Nanyang in the southernmost part of Henan, while the second one was launched westwards from Anhui Sheng. The second front was aiming towards the capital Zhengzhou and the other big cities in the northern part of Henan.
Both fronts met heavy resistance, and large casualties were taken. No big progress was made in the beginning, but with reinforcements from additional brigades they began to gain success. But it was going very slowly.
Shandong Sheng
One land front was opened towards Shandong Sheng from Jiangsu Sheng, obviously from the south. With heavy assistance from the Fighter and Bomber Divisions of the PLA/AF they showed progress, but this was not going to be easy for the Brigades and Divisions of the PLA. One complete regiment was lost in a battle outside Zaozhuang when they were caught in an ambush, completely surrounded by enemies. Some of the soldiers are probably captured as POW's, but there are really no secure sources to that.
A total of 500,000 Asian Chinese soldiers (including logistics) are directly involved in the campaign against the hostile Beijing China. Around 300,000 soldiers are from the Guangzhou Military Region and the rest are from the Nanjing Military Region.

President Jintao was handed a map that showed the overall thrusts of the three UARCA Army Groups, their projected timetables, and their finishing points. He was given a moment to consider the map. [OOC- http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/6132/warplan2mn1.png]
"President, as you can see we've planned to attack everything but Henan and most of Shandong provinces. I'm well aware that your government has expressed interest in liberating these people from the rule of the PRC, and I think it would be folly to let you stand idly by when you can so easily help. So this is the proposal that I have for you.
"Your soldiers will be responsible for the pacification of the Henan province, as well as all the Shandong province to the south of the Yellow River. Jinan will be a joint project- both our nations will work for its liberation and administration. Army Group South is already at the eastern border of Shanxi province and will enter the portion of Shandong province that lies above the Yellow River in a very short time. Collaboration in our efforts, not competition, will result in the best possible outcome for both our nations.
"The advances will continue as scheduled whther or not you agree to cooperate with them- but, if you do, expect their help as well as help from the Republican Air Guard in your efforts."

Hu Jintao looked at the map for a couple of minutes, without saying a word. Then he looked at Navarbayev and said:
- Mr. President, I think this is a good plan, and we can agree to it. Although we would prefer to not split the administration of Shandong, as we're seeing some problems with that, we're ready to stand back in that issue. We're also ready to help you with the capture of Beijing, as our intelligence service expects heavy fortifications around the city.
I've just got a report from the Military HQ in Nanjing, and it says that we met heavy resistance in the southern parts of Shandong, but with reinforcements from Zhejiang Sheng progress is going better. We're also moving forces from Sichuan Sheng, Chengdu Military Region, to the fronts in Henan Sheng. As we see it, there's no big problems for us to secure both Henan and Shandong Shengs. There will of course be losses, but the most of them will be on the enemy side.

Shandong Sheng
A squadron (12 planes) of H-6 bombers crossed the border to Shandong Sheng. They flew in northeastern direction towards the coastal parts of Shandong Sheng, carrying a very lethal cargo.
Two planes were hit by Chinese air defense installations outside Juxian, but the other ten planes continued their path towards the northeastern peninsula. When they reached their ordered positions the pressed their buttons and let of their lethal cargo - O-Isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate, more known to the publicity as Sarin, as free-fall bombs...

Widespread panic was seen all around the cities visited by the H-6 bombers. In the city Qingdao (HQ of the North Sea Fleet) the bombers and the supporting SU-30MKK fighters met heavy resistance when Chinese fighters begun to hunt down plane after plane. Two more H-6 bombers where shoot down, but it only resulted in the lethal Sarin to spread out in the air above the city, which it would have done anyway. Asian Chinese SU-30 fighters managed to fight out a couple of enemy fighters, but in the bitter end they lost the dogfights and was forced to leave the city together with the remaining bombers.
The result from the Sarin bombings was devastating. In Qingdao around 100,000 people was killed by the gas, and several tens of thousands more was injured.
Also Asian China took heavy losses from this campaign, as only three of the original twelve H-6 bombers managed to get back to Asian China.
