Music fills the air, speakers playing the national anthem. 3 armed men enter stage left, followed by a tall brown haired man. Two of them take position on either side of the oak podium, the third stands in the far back. The man following them takes his position at the podium. He clears his throat, the noise booming through the crowd all though no amplification device can be seen.

“It is my great pleasure to introduce to the public the very first Spec Ops unit of our great nation. Included in this introduction comes a great up scaling of our military power. But first let me introduce you to the S.E.U.”

His head disappears from view and on the screen behind him plays a recruitment and propaganda movie for the S.E.U. When it finishes he resumes standing.

“But this is not the only change to our military system. Along with the introduction of the S.E.U. also comes the indoctrination of the S.P.E.A.R. training program, to be taken by all current and future recruits.”

Again he disappears and another movie plays, this one outlining the new training used and the new weapon the S.P.E.A.R. units will use. Upon completion he appears.

“Now I bet your wondering what that new weapon really is, well the DP-223 is a dual purpose rifle. It has primary and secondary firing triggers, both expertly placed for comfort and ease of firing. The first trigger acts like a standard rifle trigger, firing a 1, 2, or 3 round burst. The second trigger on the other hand launches two needles attached to 3 feet of wire, much like a stun pistol, and then it hits the target with a burst of electricity. This should incapacitate any target, allowing for quick extraction of the desired target.”

The man in back steps forward, coming around to the left of the podium. He holds up a rifle, the front is flat and squareish while the back looks like a standard rifle.

“Any questions?” says the man still at the podium.

A reporter from Skgorria stands up and raises her arm.
"I have a question" she said

"no need to raise your hand, just ask away."

"More of a series of questions actually," the reporter stated, "but nevermind.
Firstly, did any foreign powers play a role in the conception of SEU and SPEAR?
Secondly, what makes you believe that the SEU will be an effective counter to the special forces of nations that have had decades of experience in regular and irregular warfare?
Thirdly, 3 feet sounds like an awfully short range for the stun function on the assault rifle. Does this not compromise the safety of some of your operatives?
Fourthly, will this rifle be coming onto the international market?"

"I'll answer your last question first. Yes, it will. now your other ones, in order. Firstly, the SPEAR program was initiated by the need of special training for the SEU. The SEU was created because of our need for a good work force. Secondly, the SEU was not created to compete with other special forces units. But i am confident that our training is equal to or better then that of other nations. Thirdly, the stun portion of the DP-223 was meant for close quarters capabilities, any longer range threats should be eliminated with a 3-round burst. Anything else"

"With all due respect sir, there are nations that seem to spend their entire time engaged in war after war. Their soldiers have clocked up thousands upon thousands of hours of service time and experience. Isn't it very arrogant to assume that a brand-new Spec Ops program is the equal of one that has learned lessons first-hand from decades of warfare?"

"if i can't have confidence in my men who will?"

"Maybe your people should, or perhaps it would be irresponsible of you to tell them that their soldiers are far better than they actually are.

On a change of subject, how much will each rifle cost, or are you selling them in bulk?"

"Over confidence is better then none.

We haven't set a price yet but it will be about $400. This press release is going to be used to gauge intrest, so we can set a better price."

"Jim Lambroplos, Morvonia International News, will you be asking for help from other goverments, to perhaps help train these units?"

"we aren't asking for it but any input would be nice."

The reporter sat down and listened with half an ear to what was going on. She had asked the right questions, got the right answers that her supervisors wanted. Another piece of information of the CFSS...

The Skgorrian reporter had asked innocent enough questions, even if they did air slighlty on the side of contempt for The Lord of Truth (self imposed title). Even so she would be marked, any offense no matter how minor would tie her up for many years and her exit from the country would cause her a great deal of hassle. She would leave of course but not without a cavity search first.

"yes sir one more, how large will this new unit be? and what capabilities will they have?"

“If not then lets proceed to the demonstration. Follow the car.” He stepped down and entered a black limo, followed by the three soldiers. After several miles they stopped at what would have been a nice house, had not the windows been blacked out. Standing outside it were seven other men, full armor and gear.

When everyone had settled he began to speak. “This family of four has been marked for some time. Upon capture the children will be into a private school, the parents will e demoted into the labor class. But enough politics lets have some fun.” He motioned to the now full team. The apparent leader was giving orders to the rest. When he had finished they all moved to obey. The only one left standing there was a short man, slightly pudgier then the other, He moved his hands in a wax on wax off motion then placed his hands in front of himself and moved his fingers rapidly.

“This is the Teams H.P.U, Human processor unit.” The brown haired man said moving towards the shorter person. “Turn around if you please.” The shorter man obeyed his hands still moving radically. “This here” He said, pointing towards a pair of glasses. “Is a miniature monitor, allowing him to see what he is doing here” He gestured towards the hands “his gloves have very precise sensors that can tell where his hands would be in relation to a keyboard. This allows him to type without the hassle of an actual keyboard.” He spun the short man around again showing the backpack to the crowd, unlatched it and pulled the front half down, exposing a monitor. “This is if he needs to out put maps and other things. Right now is a layout of the building which he acquired by pinging it. In his hand is a small sensor and, like radar, it sends out a high pitched sound wave that moves through the walls and then bounces back. The sensor receives it and places obstructions based on the amount of interference. His other hand senses heat, which is shown by the red dots. This setup can give us a layout and target location in minutes. Giving us and edge on the criminals.

Now, any questions before the execute command is given?”

As they were walking out the door.

"Before the command is given sir, Anthony Donaldon of Shazbotdom News Network. Why did you decide on only one of these special forces units? Wouldn't it be more worthwhile to have several fireteams across multiple companies of troops?"

"There are several, curently a major comand center is being constructed. We even have one in operation in another nation. Where ever did you get the notion that we only had one?"

"From the slide that you showed before in the room. How many fire teams do you expect to have of this new force by the end of the year?"

20-25. Recruitment is slow and we don't have the military funding.

Will you release pictures of this new unit or do we have to imagine on what they look like?

OOC: if were talking about the H.P.U. then no, I'll find one. If we mean the entire S.E.U. then yes, your imagination must do.

"anyone else?"

Any reporters now looking around would note that half the team had disappeared from view, all they could see was the HPU, 4 men setting up a charge on the front door, and a man on the roof.

“If not, then we shall continue.” He nodded his head, this motion was preceded by explosions around the building, and the front door had been blown in. Two men on either side of the door moved in through the hole; they were followed by two others which had placed themselves in front of the door, a few paces back. The backpack monitor showed them enter the house along with 2 others from the back door. The man on the roof was also gone, now represented by the blue dot on the second floor. He moved towards the red dot in the small room, a bathroom or closet. The rest of the team was on the first floor, holding position over the three red dots down there.

“Kitchen clear.”

“Living room clear.”

“Bathroom clea—“The report was interrupted by a gunshot; the red dot on the screen in the bathroom grew faint. “Bathroom clear. He had a pistol, in the crapper. I think someone tipped him off.”

A woman and 2 small girls were being escorted out the front door, the children showed fear but neither had tears. They would cry in the car, so as not to offend their mother and late father by not crying in public. Bringing up the rear was the man from the roof, a full body bag slung over his shoulder.

The brown haired man smiled again, clapping his hands together to draw attention off the body. “Our men work fast, and with as little violence as possible. This concludes the demonstration. We’ll do follow up questions and then you are free to go. Anyone have any questions?”

"No one? Alright then, have a nice day. Snix out." The man took five steps back, and a helecopter promptly landed where he had once been then took off barely a second later. Leaving the crowd alone. No SEU, no brown haired man. Just a ruined house.

The United Democratic Republic of Morvonia wishs luck to your new program, we also ask if any assistance is needed to help train these new units?

Funding, our leader sees it fit to put money into helping the poor. I can agree that the poor are important but leaving our nation understaffed isn't the safest thing to do. Simulation equipment would also be nice, most of our budget went to creating the suits and the HPU.

Skgorria would be happy to send a squad of Special Action Unit 209 to train with your new special forces. SAU 209 has been fighting the Atopians and Grosstapians ever since the dissolution of the USSR and as such is very experienced.

We thank you for your offer and accept. Our units may be the best to us but i am sure there are better ones out there.
