Am I cursed or something? (OOC Rant/Attention Whoring)

*sigh*
I've entered into four RP threads thus far...all of which died when or shortly after I posted. My intro RP got a lot of OOC praise, but the IC response was negative, when I proposed a course of action, the person I was talking to vanished.
I made a pretty explicit IC 'HEY GUYS IM OVER HERE' post, which was ignored.

So, whats going on? Am I cursed or just doing something wrong?

Hey, I'm pretty new too, and I know it can be a little frustrating when threads die on you...

My advice would be to start a new introductionary rp, or bump your old one back up, I'll certainly have a look at it tomorrow and join in.

Don't give up hope just yet. :D

OOC - Nah, seems more like one of those down times for rping around here. I can't seem to get much going with my Great Counterattack War with Scand since he's playing some game more than rping here. (Which is poetic justice for my absence I guess a few months past.)

My problem is that with all the dang godmod and reality rules that are abouts FT rping here, my forces are severely pinned down with the War so doing much other rping is very hard to justify without a time jump after the fact.

But I doubt it's you. Just the environs around here a bit. Don't worry I am left a bit wondering too.

OOC right back: Well, pretty much so far, from my own personal experience, the game is pretty cliquey. And the usual response ya get to these is well, it's up to you, you can stick it out, or leave...they really don't seem to much care.

I might give it another week. Between the attitude of the longtime players, and the performance of the forums...it might not be that long. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I just thought it was wierd when I entered into a two page thread, posted, and it died >_>

Oh well...I guess Ill just keep thinking of ways of interacting with people without killing them all.

Take it from me... it takes a while to be recognized and get attention. I've been here just about a week short of two years and I'm just starting to get attention and recognized. Some people actually know my nation now... it's a good feeling indeed.

Dang this server is being screwy tonight...

...I might start a combat thread where I'll take a bit of liberties with Scands DE forces as they attack my Confederacy territories in the Milky Way, might allow for some different interactions, if everyone does not mind the large scale of the battle.

I wana see if I can run with Scands DE forces since I might have to if he doesn't post often enough. I 'have' to get my rps going, I hate sitting around. (For once I really do. =^^= )

Your Music thread looks interesting, but for me at least, I can not see how to contact would happen which makes it difficult for me to consider joining.

Also some people have time constraints which prevent joining threads they might otherwise join..

To become well-known on the forums, you have to do a whole lot of crazy (but still within the stickies) things. On NS General I started titling myself Supreme Ruler of the Multiverse and encouraging loyal worshippers to start cults extolling my glory (it worked). Here I joined one of the big alliances, plotted world domination, engaged in some crazy antics à la Allanea, and fought against much larger nations and alliances (it's coming around slowly).

Or, nuke a lot of people and invade others to the ground, like AMF did. We still know him today even if he RPs only a few times a year.

Well, if you happen to have a planet or ship in the area, my own ships are filling space with a broadcast of the prime numbers from 1 to 11 :P

Thanks everybody else, though. I'll stick around a while longer.

In the height of the Kraven wars, I told Kraven himself to piss off. :D

Then I joined the GASN, and didn't take anything from anyone. I didn't care how large their nation was, if they attacked my interests, I fought them.

Pfft. Kraven's easy, you just have to know how to defeat the "Throw lots and lots of stuff (and shiny wanked technology!) at the enemy until they die" shmactic he uses. ;)

I think pretty much everyone does that these days... except small nations... uhm.... nevermind.

[ooc: Do not be disheartened, your writing is good, its just NS FT rps seem to die after a while. You have MSN? I would love to speak more on your nation.

I have seen your threads, my lack of involvement shows my present RPing state, which is, I haven't got a nation to RP (Although I am presently considering something interesting) and the only opening will be the new Valdemilitis in the Republic, which are a military group.

If you have msn, we should talk, I think I may have an idea...

There's a reason I focus on chemical warfare.

Infantry are infantry. I don't care how big your gun is, or how much armour you have. If you can breathe, I'm gassing you.

FT is the most unstable tech in NS.
No one can agree on much of anything and its a wank-fest of bastard techs to canon techs and other weird weapons that are dreamed up.

Its hard to keep them going for long.

Bit general that, really. Tech's nothing but a backdrop anyways, fodder for the story. To me, thats what really matters.

You seem like an awesome nation Phy but I sort of got sidetracked along the way. As a result, I'm sure I'd be willing to work something out with you.

I would certainly be willing to RP with you in a first contact scenario. Throw up a thread and TG me the link it's that simple. I'll respond and we can get to further and greater interaction.

Certainly throw me a link anyways, Best of luck mate.

[OOC: It actually partially helps if you do take risks, but risks that are also calculated risks. E.g., careful selecting of alliances, relationships with nations, et cetera. Also, try to plan ahead. Define your policy to dealing with others. Are you a diplomat, like say, the Union of Southeast Asian Nations/United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia (both are my official long formal titles and are used interchangeably) or some other bigger diplomatic power like the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia or the Modified Freedom Forces of Euroslavia or the United Kingdom of Oceania (aka Azazia to the game mechanics, as the player behind Oceania can't change it)? Or are you very militarily-active and as such, and have a "gunboat diplomat" style foreign policy? Perhaps you are a liberal-imperialist. Perhaps you subscribe to the realism theory of international relations like Pacitalia (and to a lesser extent me)? Perhaps you are an ideologue who champions human rights and intervenes against those that do a la Kahanistan, amongst many other frequent interventionist states up against so-called "evil" nations?

BTW, do keep aware that technology is meant to be a prop for the story, it is meant to enhance the role-play and remind one that the point of role-playing is not to win but rather to tell a good story. In speaking of storytelling, also, when you write your posts, not only you should do a detailed job, try to flesh out your own style and niche to make yourself distinct. Not saying that you can't be inspired or use other role-players as basises for your own style, but rather, try to be unique....even if you've been influenced by others for your own role-play style. If you wish to look up to somebody as a basis, I can tell you a few (for character development mainly for the most, but these guys can do well in other role-play settings): Pacitalia, Azazia, Hamptonshire, Pantera, Automagfreek, Jenrak, Van Luxemburg, Amestria, Xirnium, Wingarde, Triancia, Listeneisse, The Vuhifellian States....those are off the top of my head at the moment.

Also, if you want to be noticed, do this - don't follow, lead. Be proactive (though not neccessarily militarily interventionist, don't take it that way) and take a stand for something. The reason why you see such players mentioned above, as leaders on NS (well, except for Wingarde, VL, Amestria, Listeneisse, TVS and Xirnium, who are lesser-knowns, but good role-players nevertheless), is because they take stands and setting examples to others, not sheerly alone via manuvers that try to appeal to them (which I'm trying to do more of setting examples, but it doesn't mean that one shouldn't try to, if there's a particular nation you wish to have a good relationship with ICly, set good impressions with and to send an olive branch of friendship over with genuine evidence to back it up).

There, that's my advice man. Hope you take it well......]

Well, it happens all the time. Sometimes can be frustrating, maybe, but take it as normal. If nothing more, you've at least had a bit training in writing.
For getting noticed, it will come with time. If you are original and establish a distinctive style - well, that was already said, just supporting - you'll get noticed.
It's more important and more difficult to get recognized as a good player rather than just get recognized. Just play well, and it will come. The community here isn't as large as it may seem at first. It would be a good idea to first find a few nations which style you like and play mostly with them.
However, the most important thing is to keep style. A few good posts are far better than tens or even hundreds of "me too" kind. Well, this surely isn't a problem for you, just an advice to keep up and don't save time making

BTW, if anyone is interested in a somewhat dormant, but quite promising MT thread - take a look here:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=508587
I can promise I'll keep it alive if anyone else joins; I've got a lot of ideas for it. It just isn't as interesting to play solo and make successive posts all by myself. This thread has a lot of opportunities so, if you like the style, maybe it's what you'd find interesting. Even if you don't have time to make long posts, just add your two cents to the plot.
