Ebis III, Ebis System
Ebis III was a hellhole in every sense of the word. The primordial forest which sprawled over a stretch of land larger than a continent was inhabited by some of the most vicious predators in the galaxy, while the rest of the planet was a desolate wasteland. The very air itself was toxic - high argon and CO2 levels warranted the use of environmental suits for any excursion.
No ordinary human would set foot on Ebis III voluntarily, but the Mandalorians were anything but ordinary. For four months, the seven hundred and fifty men of the 5th Cohort, 120th Legion, Republic Marine Corps, had battled the forest and her inhabitants. They had earned their right to live on this hostile world through uncompromising firepower, exterminating entire nests of the planet's most deadly carnivores to secure their foothold on the surface.
Now, the 5/120 stood guard over one of the Republic's many listening posts - a set of high-powered, sensitive equipment which could pan the spaces between the stars for enemy forces, and alert the Navy to whatever threat appeared.
For four months, the sensor equipment had been silent, save for the regular echo. Today, that situation changed.
There was a signal. It was known. It was hostile.
OOC: In you come, Rob.
