WACN REPORT
RIFT IN THE CWAA
Bamako, Mali, CWAA
"With the assassination of the CWAA leader Muammar Aziz by Taureg rebels, a civil war has broken out in the once stable nation." Yelled a reporter over the noises of gunfire. "Aziz's second in command, General Jean-Paul Ungawa, has made a stunning move and sided with rebel forces against the opressive Allah's Sword regime. The majority of the nation has sided with General Ungawa, who has made a statement for all CWAA forces to withdraw from Senegal and assist his forces in destroying the Allah's Sword Party's forces." He turned to see a T-80 light tank break through a wall. The tank met a T-72 on the other side, which blew it to pieces when it tried to retreat back through the wall."Ungawa made a statement to the Taureg asking for peace. Our area is becoming too hot to stay. We will join up in..." He was cut short by and RPG hitting the truck near him, killing him instantly. A group of Rebel military men came in and evacuated the news crew as a Rebel tank rolled down the street to meet the enemy.
OOC: Okay, the military is split two thirds to one, the majority siding with their commander, General Ungawa.

"Forward, men!" yelled the Captain in the T-72. "Kill the Loyalist Bastards in the Government buildings! Forward flanks! Move in and hit the armor with your RPG-29's!" The border town had been turned into a meat grinder after the death of Aziz, with reserve forces from the North Defending the last Loyalist stronghold aside from Rufique Dunes in North Mali. The Air Force was with the Rebels, a great boon versus the Layalists. A MiG-21 rocketed over the tank column and launched a slew of FFAR's at the Government Buildings in the city. The War would last for a little while longer, but the winner was already clear. A truly United flag would fly over the CWAA after the war was over, with the Tauregs now regarded as human instead of demons.

WACN REPORT: RIFT IN THE CWAA, DAY THREE
The Reporter stood inside an old apartment buiding guarded by some soldiers. Outside the window smoke rose from several buildings and a large truck drove through the street slowly with soldiers following in its wake.
"Claude Cheroque reporting from Bamako, Mali, in the CWAA. Rebel Forces have pushed the Loyalists out of the fringes of the city and have trapped them in the center. A small group of artillery still protects the Loyalists along with a platoon of anti-armor troops." A Mi-24 flew overhead and unleashed missiles on the city center."We have reports that Rebel forces have also taken over Burkina Faso entirely, along with the rest of Mali save Rufique Dunes and North Mauritania as well." A large whoosh noise was heard as an artillery barrage blew up some nearby houses. The truck was hit and men were thrown down by the blast. "In about thirty minutes, General Ungawa announced that a full scale air strike and armored invasion of the city center would take place and has requested the Loyalists surrender before they are attacked."

[SIC: The Emirate inquires with each side individually to determine if Emirate assistance is necessary - and furthermore to determine which would form the most legitimate form of government in the CWAA. Intelligence operatives have been alerted and are monitoring the situation as it unfolds to see if any positive advance is being made. The skirmishes are still being decided, although one side seems to have gained a clear advantage.]
IC: The Emirate asks for calm as the situation in CWAA turns hostile. We also demand a just explanation for the assassination of the CWAA leader - which seems to have perpetrated this breach of peace in West Africa, not since seen the mess of conflict involving Senegal and Guinea.
OCC Do you need my nations help with the rebels help?

Aziz was killed by Tauregs because he attempted to Gencide their people. The CWAA has withdrawn its troops from Snegal to help rid our nation of the Genocidal maniacs who used to run it. We hope for more friendly diplomatic relations than our old government had. Your assistance is asked to help us, the freedom fighters, make a more stable nation without the memories of Genocide that Aziz caused.

[ooc: I'll assume that this is the voice of the Rebels...]
SIC reply: The Emirate will assist the CWAA faction that seeks to stabilize the country and pursue a glorious and humane path to nationhood. We are furthermore encouraged to see the withdrawal of CWAA forces from Senegal, to permit their state from collapsing entirely. At the moment, the Emirate is willing to render financial aid to the rebel faction, a sum of $100mil. In addition, elements of special operations units will be mobilized to offer strategic assistance where and if needed. We also have officials who have dealt with the Asherton genocides and a number of them would likely volunteer to help resolve the tensions creating by this barbaric practice, again if your government would request it.]
IC: Let it be known that the government the Emirate of Alif Laam Miim, in the name of Allah - most Gracious, most Merciful - we declare our recognition of the government as sponsored by the General Jean-Paul Ungawa, as they form the righteous and majority of the people living the territories of the CWAA. We encourage other states to follow our example and of those that recognize the CWAA, to recognize Ungawa lawful and righteous administration!

The AS 555 Fennec flew over the city center of Bamako. General Ungawa was coordinating the attack from above the scene. To his east, he could see the huge fleet of attack HELO's that would launch the first wave of attack. To the West, there was a massive metal serpent, the armored column, charging in towards the center.
"All units," he said with a sigh,"There is a Sandstorm on the Horizon." This was the attack call.
The HELO's moved in and launched hundreds of FFAR rockets while their chain-guns and ATGM's fired away. Flame and smoke flew up from the ground. The tanks, led by extra armoured T-72's sporting Sideskirts charged into the roadblock. A massive S2 artillery gun blasted its gun, blowing the Lead T-72's Barrel and armor inwards. The Battle for Bamako had begun.

The Armored Column pushed through the first and second raodblocks. The column was trapped as they approached a square, the lead tank was bogged down by a HMG. HELO units cleared the area and they continued forward.

The Armored column had pushed into The City Center and established a frontline base. About two miles ahead was the government HQ. During the first days of fighting, strikes from both sides had leveled the surrounding buildings about 250 meters in each direction. The Lone HQ sat tattered but fortified nonetheless, with the building and the area around it covered in barbed wire, tank traps, and rubble. A flight of Mil Mi-17's came in and landed at the forward base. The group was made up of parts of the 675th CT's, The entire SCORPION anti-tank infantry group, and a whole two battalions of 5 companies of frontline infantry. The forces were setting up for the final attack in which Ahmet Ozkan Siid would be captured or killed, and the Loyalist defenders caprtured or killed.

Bamako, Mali, CWAA H-Hour
Leuitenant Colonel Mehmet Bengazi watched the smoke float across the battered clearing in front of him. Ahead was the Gov't HQ, where he and his men were to assault and take today. Support gunners and a small group of the SCORPION ant-tank crew set up in the buildings to cover the assault. MG's were set up along with a few stationary HE rocket launchers. The call came in from General Ungawa and spread to all of the troops. They would rush this alone since the tank column was held up by a bogged down T-72.
It was time. "Begin support fire!" yelled the head of the support group. Rockets and high caliber rounds screamed across the clearing, impacting the HQ 250 meters away. Then it happened.
"Charge!" Leuitenant Colonel Bengazi yelled. The massive wave of over 5000 men rushed across the rubble field. The HQ defenses immediately opened up, spewing rounds everywhere. A man next to Bengazi was hit in the face and brought down. "SCORPIONs! Fire a rocket into that window!" he yelled as he pointed to a window with a HMG sticking out of it. An RPG-27 rocket flew out and struck the window, blowing the MG to pieces. Around him, more and more men were being struck down. He took a knee, raised his SVD, and blew a hole in a man shooting out of a window.

The man went down hard. Mehmet lowered his SVD and started running again. Ahead of him, ten SCORPION men and a few 675th CT's rushed the steps. One of the SCORPIONs blew a hole in the door with his Saiga 12. Then a CT dropped in a satchel charge as the men took cover. The rush force was at about two thirds strength now, with a third of the men being mowed down by enemy MG's and rifles. The door blew outwards as the charge went off and Mehmet and the other men poured into the HQ. On the staircase ahead of them, a group of Loyalists were retreating to the higher ground. A SCORPION blasted an RPG-7 at the group, blowing the Loyalists to pieces. More and more men rushed into the HQ as the men inside pushed up the stairs. At the top of the Stairs, the main hall was blocked by a wall of barbed wire and a large chain gun behind some wooden barriers. It opened up and mowed down three Frontline Infantry. several grenades were tossed up into the barbed wire thicket, but they didn't do much damage to the gun. Then a CT threw a satchel up into the thicket. When it detonated,a massive boom echoed through the halls of the building as barbed wire flew everywhere.

South Africa is mildly preturbed by the events unfolding in the CWAA and we must inquire does this have any profound impact on the Africa Pact?
