War in Isla de Plata still rages; isle nation to be partitioned

Tagdenbar — After three years of near-endless violence sabotaging the Colerican-led reconstruction of Isla de Plata, the United Empire has decided to act in the best interests of the Platanese people and its continued military presence there and partition the nation.
The insurrection, led by remanents of the Ma'dah regime, have been relentless in their terrorist attacks (attacks that have spilled over in the United Empire itself; including the assassination of Foreign Affairs Magistrate, Kircer Danton) against the forming government of Isla de Plata. Two wars have been fought in Isla de Plata by a coalition led by the United Empire to liberate the island nation. A second war, though declared over, still wages as he Ma'dah regime refuses to release its grasp of the nation.
A violent coup took place with the assassination of Maj. General DeClar Ramos (ret.), former Executor of Isla de Plata, and the re-installation of the cruel Ma'dah ruling regime. Led by the Uraine family, the Ma'dah--while in power, prior to the first war for liberation--acted without care for its people, having been responsible for the deaths of over a hundred thousand of its citizens. The Ma'dah also actively sought out biological and chemical weapons with their ultimate intentions set on aquiring nuclear devices for use in combat.
The partition plan calls for the island nation to be split into three military sectors. Leadership for the sectors will be assigned in the future, chosen from the ranks of Colerican generals who will have full operating authority to govern as they see fit with the best interests of the Platanese people in mind. The strategy, says General-in-Command Azben Koren, is, "...to eliminate where and how the terrorists grow. It's not good enough to defend when attacked; we have to bring the fight ot them on a more offensive, personal level."
Kressi Thra, Magistrate of State, released a statement this morning, essentially stating that the ultimate goal of the partition is to make the eradication of the enemy easier for the Colerican soldiers. More forces, she stated, are likely to be sent to the front to help with the institution of our goals. She went on to say that the United Empire would appreciate the efforts of other nations to assist the reconstruction, but she did say that the United Empire is fully-prepared to act on its own in eliminating the Ma'dah revolutionaries and re-establishing a peaceful government to the nation.
