001 Imperial Street (Imperial Palace)
Press Conference Room
Super City, Maraque

A sophisticated looking man stood up to the podium among the international crowd of reporters who came to listen to the expected announcement of the international space station between Maraque and Icovir.

"A lot of you have come here in assumption that I am going to announce the creation of an international space station between Maraque and Icovir..." he began. "You are right in assuming so, because that is correct. Maraque and Icovir are currently undergoing preparations to create a massive 4,000,000 square foot international space station which will act as a research and development facility to expand our ever increasing knowledge of the universe around us. It will also serve as a civilian space station, one of the first of its kind among modern nations such as Maraque and Icovir.

These types of things, as seen through history, seem to be confined to only super nations who have mastered the many aspects of space-age travel, but I come here today to tell you that this just is not so. The main goal of this project is to actually colonize the planet that Maraquean scientists have had their eyes on for decades: Harth.

Harth, as many of you know, is very much like Earth, and is very much capable of sustaining life as much as on Earth itself. Hence, Maraque and Icovir have joined forces to build this massive research and development facility so we can make this goal emerge faster.

But this goal is rather large. The space station will take nearly 15 years to complete, and at a cost of $939.5 billion, it isn't cheap. The Maraquean government has already set aside $450 billion towards the project, with unspecified amounts announced by the Icovirian government. We ask the international community to come forward; be involved and become a part of one of the most outstanding moments in world history; you will be a member of a coaliition of nations that defied the odds, a member of a coalition of nations that sent not just a single man to another planet, but several, to colonize and permanently live on another planet. Any questions?"
Icovir

The Caliph stepped up to his podium and began by adressing all Icovirians.

"Asalaam Alaykum".

"Wa Alaykum Salaam" was the response. As per was the Muslim tradition of that greeting and response.

"Icovir will today announce to our people, as you probably already know, that we are beginning our first ever space mission.

For years, nations have launched space rockets into the great black yonder. And for years, Icovir was forced to sit on the sidelines and congratulate them.

But no longer! Today, we will announce our space program, to colonize the planet Harth, move civilians there, and strengthen the might of Icovir!"

The crowd roarded until the Caliph quieted them down.

"Not even during the Prophet Muhammad's time, Salallalhu Allahi Wasalaam, did the glory of Sumbitters unto Allah become this great. Not even during the Great Ummayad Caliphate did a Caliphate expand this large. We are making history today; not only in Icovir, but for Muslims worldwide!"

The crowd erupted again with shouts of "Allahu Akbar!".

The Caliph continued: "We are also working with Maraque for this accomplishment. It will cost $939.5 billion. They have generously donated, no doubt Masha'Allah, $450 billion to the cause.

We are a rich nation, no doubt Masha'Allah. But now, it is our time to put our wealth to use, aside from Zakat. We will donate the rest, but not all at once.

We will donate to the cause, for now, $200 billion. The next month (IC), we will donate another $200 billion.

Thus ends my speech. And even now, we are preparring to launch into space. The first time ever.

Wa Alaykum Salaam".

Spaceport Launch Runway
Super City, Maraque

"Hello, I'm Neo Amadi for MNN Evening News. Today I'll be reporting from Super City International Aiport.

Happening right now is the first official launch for the start of construction on the International Space Station between Maraque and Icovir. The spacecraft is carrying 24 astronauts; 12 from Icovir and 12 from Maraque. Also on board are over 200 scientists from both nations and civilian reporters who will be tracking the progress of the construction live. The spacecraft is supposedly carrying 550 people altogether, plus the first $3.4 billion piece of the Space Station.

The Space Station will be constructed through 270 launches in total, through a span of 15 years. And now on to the launch live..."

On more than 3.8 billion television screens across the nation the screen turned from the reporter to a long stretch of runway at Super City International Airport, and the shuttle pummeling down the runway at an immensely high speed, then soaring off into the sky like a conventional aircraft.

Muslims, Christians, Jews and secularists a like gathered in the 375,000 seat Schlanisa Square Superdome to listen to the announcement from the Caliph of Icovir.

Upon the speech, Muslims inside the Superdome roared with applause. Similar roars of applause could be heard from everyone else inside the massive Superdome, but this was a particularly jubilant moment in history for Muslims across Maraque and the world.

For a small moment, everyone seemed to put their differences aside as huge festivals went on around the country as woman, men, young children of all ages, nationalities, religions and social backgrounds stood with pride as the first launch was successful. Many more festivals would no doubt follow.

International Space Station
Space Shuttle Civilian Living Quarters
285 miles above Earth

This is Oluwatoyin Ekene reporting from the International Space Station on this November 12th.

Exactly one year after the official start of the construction of the International Space Station it seems things are doing rather well. To date 18 of the planned 270 space flights have taken place.

Only 6% of the International Space Station is complete, but the research and development facilities are up and running. The civilian quarters have not been built yet, but there is sufficient space on the shuttle for the 276 international journalists tracking the progress of the program.

I've just been given word that in a few minutes an Icovirian space shuttle is about to dock to the International Space Station. On board are 24 additional Icovirian and Maraquean astronauts, plus the new portion of the International Space Station. And here it comes...

The camera switches from the reporter to a live camera outside of the International Space Station as the Icovirian space shuttle comes in to dock.

International Space Station Civilian Living Quarters
285 Miles Above the Earth

Hello once again. This is Oluwatoyin Ekene reporting for MNN News from the International Space Station.

Today officially marks the 2nd year of construction on the International Space Station. The progress is slowly coming about, with approximately 13% of the International Space Station built, scientists are well on their way to discovering even more about Harth in their attempt to land there and bring life.

The civilian living quarters are also 53% complete, which means that about 625 of 1,250 total living spaces are done.

Meanwhile, the Maraquean government is eagerly awaiting responses from other nations who wish to participate in this historical moment in history, because of a shortage of funds. Between Maraque and Icovir, a total of $850 billion has been raised; $89.5 billion below the total cost of the project. A public funding organization has only raised $7.652 billion, which means the Maraquean and Icovirian governments are still $81.848 billion short.

International Space Station
International Space Station Civilian Living Quarters
285 Miles Above the Earth

Hello this is Oluwatoyin Ekene once again for MNN News reporting from the International Space Station.

The International Space Station construction was postponed for a few days after a series of events back on Earth. Apparently from conflicting reports I've recieved the Caliphate of Icovir - our trusted ally and also contributor to this ISS - tested a nuclear weapon on the Independent Republic of South Africa, unaware that the Independent Republic of South Africa was claimed and administered by the Democratic Constitutional Monarchy of the Secular Empire of Maraque.

During this time, the Fourth Holy Reich launched 100 missiles on Super City, thinking that the Icovirians were attacking the Secular Empire. This was however false and a full-blown war between Icovir, Maraque and the Fourth Holy Reich was in full swing.

Several states, including Jaredcohenia and British Londinium vowed to protect the Secular Empire from a Fourth Holy Reich ground invasion, due to their current no-military status. Moments later, more than 300,000 nuclear warheads showered down upon the Fourth Holy Reich, including 250,000 from the Secular Empire alone, completely annihilating the Fourth Holy Reich and making it nothing more than a glowing dust ball of radioactive waste.

And thus, the International Space Station has once again begun construction, in full swing on the parts of Maraque, Icovir, and their newest ally British Londinium who has contributed $2 billion and the use of their orbital starship construction facility, which will shorten construction time from 15 years to 8. Thank you British Londinium, you've been a great ally to my nation, and I thank you for that.

This is Oluwatoyin Ekene, on the 3th year of International Space Station construction. Tune in tomorrow for a special updated report on the Space Station. Same time. Same place.

Hello and welcome to this special International Space Station edition of MNN News. I'm Oluwatoyin Ekene.

The International Space Station is nearly complete at 40%, and research has been put into full swing for the planned departure of a specially made Maraquean-Icovirian-British Londinium space shuttle that is made to land on the rugged desert terrain of Harth.

We've also received new information about the big rugged planet: size: 246,174,875 square miles, 172,322,412.5 square miles of which is land, and the rest water. There are no trees or vegetation, but scientists believe these can indeed be planted later when the soil is properly irrigated. The planet is also nearly completely flat, with little or no hills.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for tuning in.

With hostilities from the Fourth Reich against Maraque over, we can now rest our troops. The only war we are fighting now is a very minor one, and it will be over quick.

Therefore, it'll be easy to donate a significant amount of money to the cause and not put a strain on our economy nor military. Also which will help is our sudden $5 trillion plus gain overnight 2 nights ago.

Icovir now will announce that it will be paying the rest of the funds required for this noble cause.

With the final $79.848 billion guaranteed, the International Space Station construction was finally starting to build up fast with the addition of a 2nd docking station so that another spacecraft is able to dock which will speed up the construction process by being able to launch two pieces of the International Space Station yet to be put on into orbit from Earth.

Maraquean Space Engineers are currently saying that the timetable indicates that the International Space Station should be finished within 3-4 years, the latter being the most accurate.

Hello and welcome to MNN Evening News, I'm Oluwatoyin Ekene once again reporting from the International Space Station.

The Emperor today announced that civilian occupation of the International Space Station has officially been granted. The Icovirian and British Londinium governments are expected to also make announcements about their civilian occupatons as well.

Each nation will be able to occupy 333 living quarters, each with the capacity to have a family of four. This allows only 1,332 lucky citizens of each nation to occupy living space on the International Space Station. Including staff, scientists, astronauts and other people the total civilian population will be a whopping 15,984.

Icovir will not allow for civilians quaters in the space station just yet. The Caliph stated a simple reason:

"We need to find how one of our Muslim citizens can pray. The space station is continously rotating around the earth, and therefore the Qiblah changes every second. Once we solve this dilemma, we will begin sending Icovirian citizens into space.

At first, there was nothing but space. And in one blink of an eye, with no noise, light or heat, a Zigguraut appeared before the space station. It was as big as the space station and incredibly ancient. It just sat there on a piece of floating rock, an enigma wrapped in mystery with a sugary coat of a riddle.

As instantly as the Zigguraut had appeared, 4 creatures were in the middle of the living quaters. They were whispy and see through, like the ghosts of earth. But they began to change. They soon morphed into a new form, a form with dripping drool, heavy breath, and a stench the likes of which no earth man has smelt. Each of them had some kind of weapon strapped to thier hip made of bone.

They were canine like (http://www.sonic.net/~jason/titles/dream2-ghoul1.gif), but with cloven feet and the skin of...something undead. Thier green dead eyes peered around the room at the beings assmbled around them. They smelt thier flesh, having many times before eaten the flesh of man. They smiled, revealing all of thier sharp teeth.

"Xiirte gfkweh wefk,zwu!"
Maraque
20-11-2006, 02:59
As soon as these creatures appeared, civilians ran in various directions, some headed towards other wings of the Space Station, some locking themselves in their apartments. Except for a few people...

"Holy shit, what the hell is it Damon?"

"No fucking clue... uhhhh, what should we do... ?"

"Daddy he was see-through, did you see that?" a young girl said, from the other side of the room from the two men.

"Mel, stay where you are!" one of the men, the young girls father, said.

"OK, daddy!"

The young girls father stepped towards the strange creatures, and said, "Who are you... ? Do you understand me?" Half scared to death.
The Horde Of Doom
20-11-2006, 03:05
The creatures glibbered, barked, and meeped, using a wide variety of hand motions to display thier meaning. All of it was indecipherable. After 5 minutes, they gave up explaining themselves. They sniffed the air and pointed to the young girls, and motioned for them to come near.
Maraque
20-11-2006, 03:08
The people in the room now comfortable with the strange creatures, them having been there for a few minutes just gesturing without looking to intimidating, talked in amazement as these creatures just stood there.

"Daddy, they're pointing at me..." the young girl said.

"Come on over hunny." The father said.

The girl walked over to the alien, looked up at him and said "Hi..."
The Horde Of Doom
20-11-2006, 03:14
One of the creatures loped over to here, and pet her soft hair.

It was at that moment everything went apeshit.

The creature bit the girl's head off, and the man was ripped in two by the legs, and the other two creatures loped towards the nearest human and disembowled them. Rather then pursue other humans, they simply remained crouched and feasted on thier kills. Their teeth cracked bone and they ripped off skin with thier sharp claws. The creatures barked in approval.

6 more of the creatures phased in the blink of an eye, as if they had been there but merely invisable. They howled with delight, took out thier war clubs and tried to kill a human of thier own.
Maraque
20-11-2006, 03:23
The people scattered, running where ever they could trying to avoid the other six that just appeared out of no where. Most were caught, but then others ran off to alert Mission Control back on Earth.

"SUPER CITY, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!" A frantic voice said to Mission Control.

"Please state your problem."

"ALIENS!!! ALIENS!!! THEY ARE IN THE SPACE STATION EATING PEOPLE, THEY KILLED A LITTLE GIRL AND HER FATHER, AND SEVERAL OTHERS." It was too late, they had already gotten him too.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat that? We didn't receive your transmission, please repeat..." Nothing. Mission Control wouldn't receive another transmission.

Maraquean astronauts armed with stun-clubs stormed the living quarters and bashed several of the aliens with the clubs, sending a volt of electricity through their bodies, unaware of this would even work.
The Horde Of Doom
20-11-2006, 03:32
The creatures were hurt, and now they were angered. The creatures quickly ripped the humans arms off in anger, and beat them with it. They toyed with the stun clubs, whacking the remains of the bodies, and watching them twitch with glee. No mere stun club could harm them.

The creatures began to explore the living quarters, as 10 more of thier kin appeared. The hungrier ones just ate, but some of the others had begun toying with various buttons and levers in the living quarters. They glibbered among themselves, interested in just what they were in. Some claimed it was a pot of some sort, others said they were in the stomach of some beast.

The second theory appeared to win out, and the beasts began to chew and hit the walls. The beasts were quite strong, and if they really tried, could've puched thier way through. But they gave up, and tried to figure out how to get to more food.
Maraque
20-11-2006, 03:39
The living quarters were completely vacant. Every human on the floor had evacuated to the upper levels, sealing each and every door on their way.

Thousands of people watched the aliens rummage through the living quarters from video cameras that could be viewed from all levels of the Space Station.

"Lets watch them for a little while, see what they do... maybe they'll calm down... I... I don't know." Said a senior astronaut, completely awe-struck.
The Horde Of Doom
20-11-2006, 03:48
The creatures began to argue, and throw things at one another, the creatures suddenly turned into a green gas, and struggled to find a way out. The chamber was air tight however, and after failure they quickly reverted to thier ghoulish state and toyed with the room more.

The creatures quickly noticed the cameras, and began to wavem They began to speak in thier strange glibbering language, and all of them began to speak at once, albet about diffrent topics. However something else happeaned: they spoke words.

The troops drew their weapons, and made their way across Deck 4 to the lifts, and descended to Deck 1.

As they egressed onto the deck, they could hear the ghastly cacophony of screams eminating from the aliens. Captain Terell, leader of the Royal Corps Engineers' contingent on the ISS, began to speak to his men.

"Men and women of the Royal Starfleet! The time has come to fight for our nation, against a race we have never encountered. I know not what to expect from them, but I know what to expect from us - victory! We must take them out!"

The troops drew their weapons, and made their way across Deck 4 to the lifts, and descended to Deck 1.

As they egressed onto the deck, they could hear the ghastly cacophony of screams eminating from the aliens. The Royal Starfleet officers went through room after room after room, carefully making sure to seal and lock all doors. After 15 minutes, the soldiers reached the aliens, opening fire at them.

"Die, you filthy alien scum, die!"

The creatures screamed and were torn apart by the bullets, but not before taking a few humans with them. However thier bodies appeared to become more transparent until no trace was left of them, all blood and bits of the ghouls gone. The Zigguraut was now gone too, as if it had never been there. One thing was certain however....

They would be back.

Announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister
Whilst the alien threat has temporarily been rescinded, it is foolish to assume that they will not come back. Peacetime conditions on the ISS are being restored, however, the nation of British Londinium will remain vigiliant. We are to be installing ablative hull armour on the station to prevent it against further attacks, as well as installing a defence system, which will be controlled by the station chief.

Emergency Joint Session of Congress,
House of Imperialists, Capitol Street
Super City, Maraque

And now ladies and gentlemen... the Emperor of the Democratic Constitutional Monarchy of the Secular Empire of Maraque, Jovan S. Norris." The Speaker of the House of Imperialists announced.

"Thank you Mr. Speaker, Madame Speaker, and the entire Imperial Congress." He began.

Yesterday was a grave day in the history of our nation; a day in the history of our nation that we will surely never forgot. On November 20th 20xx, an unknown alien race entered the International Space Station, wrecking havoc and killing innocent civilians, including a young girl by the name of Nerea Estiñne and her father Amets, among several others.

I want to say that this threat, despite being eliminated by our great friends and ally, British Londinium, we must not think it is over. Therefore, I have dispatched 40 Imperial Guard troops to the International Space Station immediately to protect it from further attack. As well, the British Londinium government has also begun new security procedures aboard the ISS to help protect it from attack, including a self defense system and armor.

No one ever thought the day would come when aliens revealed themselves be be very much real, very much alive. But they have, and they did not come in a welcoming fashion. Instead, they came with intent to kill in cold blood. They will not prevail; mark my words. Revenge will come. No one, whether it is another nation, or alien race will ever destroy Maraquean life and not face the repercussions of their actions.

Thank you, and good night to all.

The Emperor left the chamber.

Address of Emperor James I before the Parliament of British Londinium
Whilst our nation has temporarily defeated the alien menace, it is merely a matter of time before they return to Earth. But the Britannic Empire of British Londinium shall not sit idly waiting for a more devastating attack. The Empress Hemali and I, the Dual Sovereigns, have ordered the Royal Starfleet to send the HMS Ark Royale (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ark_Royale-class_science_vessels ) to search for this alien race. And when we find them, we shall fight on the beaches. We shall fight on the landing grounds. We shall fight in the fields, and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, we shall fight in the cosmos. We shall never surrender!

Preliminary reports show the starship in the Oort Cloud; not knowing the nature of this spacecraft, a full defensive alert has been imposed, and all weapons are being brought online. We will send another transmission at the designated time.

The HMS Ark Royale approached the Oort Cloud.
"Slow for the approach," ordered the captain.
"Slowing, aye," replied the helmsman.
"Sensors, status report."
"Captain, unknown starship lies 200 kilometres ahead of us."
"Helm, set a course for the starship and dock with it."
"Aye, aye."

The HMS Ark Royale came up beside the unknown ship and docked with an airlock on the side. Three squads of Royal Marines in enviromental suits boarded the unknown ship...

22-11-2006, 03:30
The Royal Marines stood in the connection bridge in front of the airlock - the mysterious, foreboding airlock, representing the barrier between the known and the unknown. They loaded their weapons, sealed their environmental suits, and crossed the breach into the unknown starship.

It was almost impossible to see in the starship - the only light came from strange, foreign computer terminals displaying an unknown text. The marines turned on their flashlights.

What they saw was horrific, beyond explanation. Blood was splattered everywhere. The corpses of an alien species were strewn about, many half-eaten.

"Oh dear god," whispered one of the marines.

The squad continued to advance, farther and farther into the heart of this uncharted darkness.

Suddenly, another alien creature emerged from a doorway, this one different from the dead ones. The troops quickly realised that the living aliens were the same that attacked the International Space Station.

"Open fire! Fire at will!" shouted a commander.

Bullets ricocheted all over. Both human and alien died. However, there was a plethora of aliens, and their advance could not be stopped.

"This is Platoon leader, to the HMS Ark Royale - disengage! Retract the connection bridge before it's too -" signalled the commander, before his leg was ripped off.

The entirety of the British Londinian contigent was killed.

On the Ark Royale, the captain heard this transmission and was horrified.

"Disengage! Get us out of here! Set a course for Earth immediately! Communications, signal the Royal Starfleet what happened!"

After much anticipation the Democratic Constitutional Monarchy of the Secular Empire of Maraque undocked the ASTRA 1 spacecraft from the International Space Station and begun its long departure to the planet Harth. ASTRA 1 is expected to land on the planet in 10 hours from the time of departure, in which astronauts will conduct research experiments and begin to build the long overdue research laboratory that the Democratic Constitutional Monarchy has pledged nearly $5 trillion, which will come in yearly increments of $200 billion to construct in hopes of getting permanent residents on the planet in 5 years time.

Ladies and Gentlemen... ASTRA I has landed. At approximately 3:48 AM Eastern Standard Maraquean Time, ASTRA I landed on Harth without any problems. Reports from the astronauts on the scene have confirmed that Harth is indeed safe for humans to travel on, clearly depicted by this photo.

A picture taken from Harth shows up a screen behind the man, showing astronauts in plain clothes walking among the barren landscape of Harth without any protective gear on.

They describe the weather as warm, and slighly breezy. ASTRA I will act as their living quarters until they begin to build the International Space Station Harth Headquarters, which will act as the Headquarters for the mission from this day forward.

Also confirmed is that the water on the planet is safe to drink, and that there are animals on this planet as we originally thought. Although these animals differ greatly from the ones we see here on Earth, we've been able to study them and their behaviors and have concluded that they do not yield a great threat to the astronauts... many of which have already met and interacted with them.

This is all we have at this time. Thank you.

The Imperial Democratic Republic of Nova Brittanica is unfortunately unable to send a colony ship to Harth, due to our sending a colony ship to the Moon. However, we would be willing to send a large number of would-be colonists to Harth on the British Londinian colony ship. They will be perfectly able to survive on Harth, but not in the barren landscape of the moon. The only favor we ask in return is that we will be able to set up our own colony. We will of course pay you in full for the transportation, and any other problems that pop up on Hearth.

We'd be glad to carry your colonists with us if you would like.

The Democratic Constitutional Monarchy of the Secular Empire of Maraque has announced that it will build a 600,000 square mile city-state in the lower portion of the equater in the large lake in the central portion of the map. The city is the first step in the eventual permanent inhabitation of the planet.

Facts about the city:

The city, which will be coastal will consist of a big urban center, surrounded by inner cities and large spacious suburban sprawl; each home in the suburban part of the city will be placed upon a single acre of land at the least, and each home will be no less than 3,000 square feet in size.

The inner city area will consist of condominium complexes and townhouses, which will be attached and be similar in appearance. These will be close to parks and the city, and will be ultimately a part of the city.

The city itself will feature state-of-the-art steel and glass towers, some as high as 4,000 feet and will feature environmentally friendly features. The train and bus systems will also be state of the art, and of course environmentally friendly, which is the theme of the city.

There will be 10,520,860 housing units, which will be able to handle a population of 25 million individuals. Of these units, 6,312,516 will be priced in the range of $378,000, 2,630,215 will be in the range of $756,000, and 1,578,129 will be priced in the range of $1,512,000. Additionally, of all the units 5,260,430 will be in the city limits, 4,208,344 will be within the inner city limits, while 1,052,086 will be in the suburban area.

The cost? $3.887 trillion USD. The Emperor has asked the Imperial Congress for the funds in a span of $200 billion per year, so expect the project to take 38 years to complete. The Emperor has already recieved $900.9 billion in private donations to kick off the construction, which is set to begin in five months.
