Stalingrad(IC)
On the afternoon of September 26th 1942 a Nazi flag was raised in Red Square above the goverment buildings, German forces concentraited on holding the square against their Russian enemys who faught for the city that held their leaders name. The fighting was ferice and intense, street by street, meter by meter, house to house, both sides were exausted and low on supplys as they continued to fight for their survival.....
Captian Wilhelm Rosenburg stood at the bottom of the steps to the goverment buildings in red square that were under the German sixth armys control, led by General Fredrich Von Paulus, German armor mixed with units of infantry moved in to secure a foothold....sounds of mortors and other artillary pieces ehcoed in the background..
He watched as a large swastika flag rose higher in the air, thick black smoke from the burning rubble of the city clouded the sky, a group of Stuka dive bombers flew over in formation causing him to look upwards, Rosenburg watched in silence....
In afew hours he would be leading a sqaud through the ruined streets to assist with the resistance issue in the area, it was if the Germans were fighting the entire city.

Smoke and fire billowed up towards the sky, darkening it. Buildings were no more than skeletons of their former grand selves. Mountains of rubble scattered the city. The Nazi war machine pounded down the streets, through buildings, leveling all resistance. The Soviets began to fall back in disoray. The human waves of Soviet soldiers were no match for German armor and air power as they cut down the sons of Mother Russia. The sounds of artillery and gunfire echoed through the city.
"Adrian, look to the east", Josef whispered through his binoculars. A few feet away, a piece of tattered, dirty tarp moved. Under it, a rifle barrel, wrapped in cloth jutted out. The scope adjusting to the east. The Nazi flag flew over Red Square.
"My God, the Nazis have captured Red Square" Adrian said in disbelief. Though, deep down inside he knew it was inevitable. It was a symbolic defeat for the Soviets, a crushing blow to their already low moral.

Adrian surveyed the scene below. Too many Germans, not enough bullets in his rifle. It appeared that relocating was the better option for the two of them.
"Josef, let's bug outta here" Adrian said, slowly getting to his knees and folding the tattered canvas. Josef picked up his equipment and got his PPSch-41 at the ready, just in case. They were in a blown out building which had a good view of several blocks of the city, and of course a good view of the Nazi flag.
"The city is lost" Josef commented as they staggered through the rubble and into a part of the building not completely destroyed. Inside a room was their packs which they put on their backs.
"Where's a good spot?" Adrian asked as he wiped the dust off of the lense.
"Any place away from the Germans" Josef cracked "I saw a department store five blocks to the rear of us. It should be a good place to set up.
The two agreed and carefully began to make their way to the store, staying clear of open areas, trying to skirt the buildings and going through them whenever possible.

"The Hitlerites have the Square..." grumbled Vladmir as he looked through Mladshi's binoculars. "We have to get to the Munitions factories first."
"I concure." said Nikita as he loaded his PTRD anti-tank rifle with some bullets.
They moved out towards the factory, seeing nobody in sight. All that would change soon...

The streets in their sector were quiet for the time being. However, the Germans continued their drive and the mechanical sounds of tanks and half tracks could be heard in the distance. The streets were litered with rubble and bodies, remnants of a massacre. Josef peaked around the corner for a second and then turned back.
"There's an opening in that building with the green shingles" he relayed to Adrian who was close behind. That opening was a good place to get through to the next block. They nodded then began to dart across the street. Something wizzed past Adrians ear, then cracks and bangs as bullets impacted the ground around them. Josef made it to the opening first with Adrian on his heels. Josef let out a burst of fire then they retreated into the building.
"It's not safe here" Adrian said, breathing heavily, the adrenaline pumping. Then moved through the building and to the next street where they stopped at the doorway.
Ivan cocked his rifle against his shoulder and let the crosshairs settle over the place where a head appeared above the windowsill. It was a long shot, around, 600 meters, and he'd have to be deadly accurate. Beside him Will lay mesuring the wind. "3 Meters" he whispered, "Left to right." Ivan adusted his scope to comensate.
He knew that within the last hour the red square had fallen and that a German flag now flew over Stalingrad. He also knew that there where two german squads advancing to the right of the building that he was hiding in and that he would soon be cut off. A squad of reds where trying to support him but they where having little sucess in holding off the superior German numbers. He had 30 seconds, less, to make this shot.
Another second past maybe two and the gunfire increased twofold. "Ivan." Whispered Will, "Hurry up." Ivan sighed and then pulled the trigger, squeezing it gently as a mover caresses a baby. Then, without looking to see where the shot had gone he turned from the window and ran, half crouched to reduce his size, down the stairs into what ahd been a living room. It was a slaughter house, the last few Soviets where crouching behind walls and tables that offered scant protection. A dozen bodies lay on the floor from where the bastards had set up a mchine gun adn wehre now raking the building.
They where trapped. To make a dash across the room would be suicide, yet they couldn't stay wehre they where. The Germans would know where that shot had come from and move to take out the sniper. They had to move if they wern't going to be caught or killed.
It was Will that took the lead, sliding to her belly and sliding across the floor incredbaly slowly using bodies for cover. Ivan followed her lead and soon both where across the room to the other side. There where a dozen explosians and eruption of rifle fire behind them as the germans made there final assult. Shock and awe. Anotehr 2 soviets went down injured or dead, Ivan didn't care the cheack. The drew his pistol and fired 2 rounds towards the door, Will fired her rifle and was rewarded by a scream.
Another Volley came whistling through the smoke but fortunly they went high, in there haste the germands where firing above the russians heads. More explosians went off towards there left, throwing one man down in a shower of blood and severed limbs. Taking advantage of the distraction Will and Ivan slipped out through a newly blown doorway to the reltive calm of outside. Bullets followed them, zipping past them like speeding daggers.
Then they ran, left through the werehouse and the straihgt on down ruined streets and alleys of Stalingrad. They carried on running, skirting round the read square till they wehre safly within Soviet terratory.
It was late afternoon, Wilhelm stood behind a Panzer smoking a cigerette, all of a sudden a massed warcry echoed through the air...
What the hell..
He looked around the side of the tank to see hundreds of Russian's rushing the German defencive line hoping to retake the square, he raised his bonoculars for a better veiw....
Some of these men are not even armed...fools..
Then he sprung into action,
"Defencive positions! Ivan is rushing us!! get those mortors firing at at once!! put it on them!!"
MG42's across the line opened fire, German soldiers knelt down firing their MP40's and Kar98's at the attacking enemy, tanks opened fire with their bow machine guns and main guns...
Wilhelm moved in to take up position aswell when a soldier beside him was struck, he bumped into him and fell to the ground just as a bullet wizzed by his ear...he reached for his cap that had fallen off placing it back on his head, next he grabbed the fallen soldiers rifle. He briefly watched as the Russians were cut down in large groups, shells exploded sending rubble and shrapnel flying everywhere....he bolted the rifle, took aim and fired...
As he shot at the enemy he heard bullets striking the tank casuing him to flinch, even though the enemy was taking heavy losses it did not look like they had any intent of retreating and kept comming...
Wilhelm heard the screams of the wounded and dying....
Why won't they run! He thought getting upset at the fact...
Quickly he aimed at another target and fired, he watched the man's head jerk back as he tumbled to the ground on top of afew other bodys...
Wilhelm was getting low on rifle ammo, he dropped it and reached for his MP40 that was slung around his arm, bringing it foward he gripped the magizine and opened fire...
**Ratatatatat, Ratatatatatatat**
It looks as if they are almost ready to break...and..they are!!
"They are about to break! keep it on them!!" He yelled at the top of his lungs..
The attack had roughly only lasted about five minutes so far...

They snuck through an alley for about thirty seconds until Mladshi stopped.
"Hitlerite. 40 meters." He pointed to a man hobbling down a road being supported by another man. "I'll take him out." he raised his SVT and and lined up his sights with the two men. He shot once, the bullet hitting the wounded man on the top of the head and ricocheting off of him, striking the other man in the back. They ran over to the two men. The wounded one was dead, missing a fourth of his head. The other man was crawling into an ally. He never made it thanks to Vladimir's entrenching tool. The Germans had about a half a day of food each, plus some medical supplies. Nikita took three grenades from one of the men.
"Okay, let's keep moving. The factory is about 2 kilometers south of here."
They headed south and stopped in a building to rest for a second. In the aoartment building, they found a half a loaf of bread which they shared with each other before taking a quick nap.
Theyw ehre halfway to the powerplant, just skirting the ruins of the railway station when the firing erupted in the Red Square to there west (?)a mere 600 yards away. Hundreds of explosians and rifle reports joining together to create a huge calpohony.
"Shall we check it out?" Said Tanya in a soft whisper. They wehr ehidden in what had once been a toilet of a half ruined building. Ivan nodded and peeped roudnt he corner into the street. The Railway station would be occupied, of course, but maybe there would be a way around the damned place. There where no germans in sight so he darted across the road towards anotehr house.
No shots followed him so Tanya followed that dart. They slowly crept through there house, knives and guns at the ready having run out of grenades. Between them they had 29 sniper rifle bullets, 15 rifle carrages and 7 pistol bullets, with enough food to maybe last a day. Luckly the house was unocuppied so they wehre able to contiue unabated.
However as they came clsoer and clsoe to the Red Square it became hard er and harder to find unoccupied houses. Twice they wehre almost cought by patrols and only quick thinking and small size save them. They couldn't keep this up, and they where quickly becoming lost.
They ented yet another building and began to make there way slowly across it. The firing had slowly abaited but was still incredably louds. Suddenly a patter of boots soudned behind them. Another squad of Jerries coming through this building to get towards the fight.
A staircase was ahead and Tanya beckioned them up it. It led to a almost intact second floor, but with the sound of jackboots loud in there ears they headed higher uponto the 3rd floor.
This had once, Ivan realised, been a great house. Five tories at least but bombing had reduced it to a 3 story ruin and now this, the top stoy, was without a roof or walls. It was the perfect sniper point, high and almost invisable to those below. But somone was already occupying it.
He was wearing black with a classic german army helmate on his head. A sniper rifle was cocked on his left shoduler and even as they watched he fired another shot, downing a red below. Motioning for Ivan to stay low and quiet she crept forward and cut his thoat quickly with her throat. she had done this beofre many, many times. There was suprisingly little noise or blood. Once the poor mans body ahd been got out of the way they crept towards the parpet to survay the scene below.

Planes flew overhead, softening up a sector for the German advance. The shockwave caused the building to shake, dust falling from the ceiling. Adrian situated himself next to a dresser and sat up against it. His foot was in pain. He must've hit it against some rubble during the dash across the street. However, he dared not take off his boots. It would put him in a bad position if they needed to run again. So, he laid his rifle across his lap and pulled out a photo. It was of his wife, Sasha. She was the most beautiful woman in the world to him, none others compared in his mind. She was a year his younger. She stood infront of her home in St.Petersburg, arms folded and a smile across her face. That photo kept him going, and the small stack of letters he carried.
Adrian couldn't write or read well, but he managed. Sasha is in a factory, helping to build weapons. She's tough and a survivor. Adrian promised to marry her once he returned, a promise he intends to keep.
"The fighting's getting bad" Josef commented as he looked through his binoculars. "Our comrades are suffering much against the Nazis"
"Soon the Nazis shall suffer against us" Adrian remarked as he carefully put the photo away and pulled the bolt back and checked the clip.

Oberfeldwebel Dmitar Aramilovich fired another burst into the brown mass in front of him, and kept the fire on until the room went silent. "Room" is perhaps a wrong word for the box-like space between four lines of rubble that had once been walls, but that space had in any case been filled with Soviets, and now it was filled with their bodies only. Dmitar struck another drum into his PPSh and moved forward, closely followed by his squad. Higher pile of rubble in front of them, the remnants of Government&Party Buildings, was still occupied by the reds. He saw brown figures jumping from position to another, flashes all around the hill of rubble. Few hundred metres on their left, the Soviet counter attack was being repulsed by the line of Germans.
Dmitar ordered Stjepan Nadarević, his machinegunner, to put his weapon into position, and start firing at the flank of the Russians, while giving short bursts towards the Bolsheviks from his submachinegun. Those bastards fell by dozens, as the rest of the squad concentrated their fire at the swarm of retreating Russians. Meanwhile, the unit of Soviets on top of the Rubble Hill fired at them as hard as possible, but the walls' remnants protected the Croats, and they continued firing. The Russian line of infantry was getting completely slaughtered.

"Well, there is butcher's work to be done" Adrian finally said as he stood up and picked up the rifle. The building wasn't a prime spot for a sniper but it would have to do. A staircase lead to the upstairs. Even though they could see the department store from their point, it was far too dangerous at the moment. Josef went first with his submachine gun, checking the rooms, they were clear. Adrian set up shop in a room. He arranged some boxes a few paces back from the window, this is where he'd do his work. Right at the window was dangerous. Enemy snipers and enemy infantry could kill him easily. He leaned up against the boxes and adjusted the scope a few notches. Several hundred yards away an advanced patrol of Germans carefully went down the street, skirting the buildings.
He carefully aimed in, leading the target. The target being a noncom in front of the patrol. The man looked around, his MP40 at the ready. Adrian brought his finger over the trigger, gently touching it. After a few seconds his finger closed in, the shot rang out.
"Hit" Josef said, looking through the binoculars. The noncom fell to his knees, blood spurting out of his throat, he grabbed it and the life left him. He slumped to the ground as his squad ran for cover. The two Russians were a safe distance away and well hidden. That German patrol would not be able to find them.

Nikita woke up and peered out a window of the building, seeing a nasty sight, a Marder III driving down the road. "Shit!" he said. "Vladimir, give me the PTRD! Enemy armor!"
"Here, take it out!" Vladimir said as he gave Nikita the rifle. He loaded a magazine and set his sights on the sight hole on the front armor. "Fire, fire, fire, fire...Mark!" he yelled as he blew the huge slug out of the rifle. He saw a big red cloud fly out of the open rear of the Marder. Then he saw what he didnt hope for. The 88mm barrel turned towards the building they occupied.
"Shit!" Mladshi yelled. "Get outta here!"
They got up and ran down a staircase. As the hit the bottom, they heard a boom, a whoosh, and then the whole upper floor of the building was obliterated. Hunks of plaster and and glass fell on the four NKVD men.
"Is everyone okay?" asked Nikita. All three gave them the thumbs up.
They ran across the street to another building. "We need food. The food we had got blown away by that Marder."
"Then let's go to the depaartment store," said Iosef,"I'm sure there is food there."

Josef packed his gear and they were off. This time, no enemy fire. They made it soundly to the department store after running to and from cover, out of instinct. It was three stories tall and sustained a descent amount of damage. They entered through a hole on the ground floor. It was dark and the air thick with dust and dirt.
"This should be a good place to camp out for a while" Adrian commented as they moved through the store. The two soldiers moved carefully up the staircase to the second floor.
"Hopefully the Fascists will not come this way" Josef said as they laid down their gear and rested.
"They'll come. The Nazis are driving us into the Volga and won't stop till we're up to our ears in her water" Adrian replied. They both knew how relentless the Germans were and their own forces were no match.

NKVD
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The NKVD (Narodnyi Komissariat Vnutrennikh Del or People's Commisariat for Internal Affairs was a government department which handled a number of the Soviet Union's affairs of state.
The NKVD is best known for the Main Directorate for State Security (GUGB), which succeeded the OGPU and the Cheka as the secret police agency of the Soviet Union. Many consider the NKVD to be a criminal organization, mostly for the activities of GUGB officers and investigators, as well as supporting NKVD troops and GULAG guards. The NKVD was also responsible for administering Stalin's foreign intelligence service and overseas 'special operations'. These NKVD sub-branches were reponsible for the recruitment of spies and gathering of political, military, and economic intelligences from other countries, the liquidation of political enemies residing outside the Soviet Union, subversion of foreign governments, and enforcing Stalinist policy within Communist Party movements in other countries.
In addition to its state security and police functions, however, some of its departments handled other matters, such as transport, fire guards, border guard (NKVD Border Troops), etc., the tasks that were traditionally assigned to the Ministry of the Interior (MVD).

OOC: 15th NKVD Rifle (infantry) Division was in the frontlines in Stalingrad. It was a mix of border guard battalions, concentration camp guards and conscripted members of the Soviet youth organization. It was sent there to make sure that the normal units fought bravely, =to shoot all those who hesitated, but it performed well in the actual battle and was used pretty much like normal infantry. Very few of it's men survived to see the victory.

This is madness! Adrian hated the Germans, but even he knew when a cooler mind will prevail and when to stay his hatred. These men were fanatics and would fight to the bitter end. However, both of them knew that they could be shot and decided to fight. Adrian went up to his position and so did Josef. The sniper adjusted his scope and took aim. However, both of them knew that they could be shot and decided to fight. Adrian went up to his position and so did Josef. The sniper adjusted his scope and took aim. Wilhelm and the squad he put together slowly crept along through the streets that were reduced to rubble, a near by rifle shot echoed through the air, Rosenburg signaled the squad to follow close behind...
They came around a corner to see a Panther tank turning his turret, a dead sergent lay on the ground face down in a puddle of blood..
We are getting closer to that sniper..couldn't have been the same one that hit Hydrich unless he relocated very quickly..
The Germans moved through the rubble slowly and carefully when all of a sudden three Russian soldiers made a dash for the other side of the street,
"FIRE!!" Yelled Wilhelm..
The soldiers opened fire with everything they had, the first two Russians were mowed down but the last one escaped...
"Lucky bastard.."
"We are moving on that department store there, from the back..lets go"
The Panther turned it's turret to the right and fired a random shell into a building,
**BOOM** Rubble flew everywhere and a massive dust cloud filled the air...
One side of the weakened building collasped, Wilhelm was tired from the days fighting and the men who followed him were close to exausted if they were not already...

The explosion was terrible. Rubble and dust blew everywhere as Josef hit the deck. The round hit not far from him, but it hit into another room.
"Josef!" Adrian yelled but he quickly went back to his scope, leading a target, the Germans were trying to outflank them. With the tank there, they had no chance. Josef's ears rang as he staggered to his feet, coughing. He shook it off and went back to his position. Gunfire erupted all around. It appeared that they weren't the only Russians in the sector.
Adrian took careful aim and fired again, hitting a German in the shoulder, the soldier scrambled for cover through his scope. It was only a matter of time before the store was overran. With that in mind he decided to relocate to another part of the building. Josef let out a burst or two of supressing fire then he dashed to another window while his previous position was riddled with bullets.

Another sniper shot rang out, Wilhelm kicked down the wooden door to the rear of a department store and his men filed through. Visibility in the building was horrible, the shell from that Panther really did some damage,
"They better not do that again or they will kill us!" said one of the soldier..
"Quiet!" hissed Wilhelm as he scanned the area for enemy movement..
He signaled upwards and they started to climb the stairs to the upper floors of the store, then all of a sudden a tank gun fired again..
"Get down!!" Yelled Wilhelm..
**BOOM!!** the building was hit a second time..
Pieces of rubble fell all around, a large brick struck one of Rosenburgs men who hit the ground and lay still, the Captian himself was thrown off the stairs and landed on his side..
**Cough, cough..**
"Get to cover! move!"
He crawled over to the German who was hit by the rubble and grabbed him by his Y harness pulling him towards the back door, once outside he leaned him up against the building,
"Soldier! soldier! look at me!"
"Sir, i can still fight..let me up.."
"Stay still that's an order! cover our rear!! do you hear me!"
"Yes sir!"
The soldier was breathing heavily but managed to unsling his MP40 resting it on his lap, Wilhelm went back inside finding one of the men crushed at his middle, Captian Rosenburg felt his head, finding no cap he breifly looked around for a moment then took the helmet from the dead soldiers head putting it on his own..
Looking at his remaining squad members he signaled upwards and they began to move upstairs once more quietly....

Reinhard tightly held his MP40. Sweat glisten from his forehead. Wiping it away he looked toward Stalingrad. Just a couple of months he had been called up, then sent to this god forsaken land. He wished he was back in the Fatherland. Reinhard wasn't use to this weather. The SdKfz 4 was getting ever so close to Stalingrad. He could hear the random gun fire. Once getting close to the front line the men got off. Reinhard was put into a squad. The Sgt. said they were going on a patrol. Reinhard didn't try any small talk. He was with other green troops. The Sgt. was a harden soldier who seemed to have been in Stalingrad for sometime. His hand were on the MP40's trigger. Reinhard was ready to protect himself against any Russian. A crack sounded and the Sgt fell to the ground. Blood started to pour out from his head. The other men started to run away. With no real leadership the men broke easily. As Reinhard ran behind some rubble he saw another man fall like the Sgt. Reinhard gripped his MP40, then ran into a bombed out building hoping to make it back to German lines. The only problem is Reinhard had no idea where he was located.

The second hit caused Rubble to come falling down, some of it hitting Adrian who fell to the deck. His head was spinning, the pain searing. It was in this moment, with the Germans entering the building that he thought he would die, lying there his mind drifted in and out as everything moved in slow motion.
"Adrian!" a woman's voice called out "How great it is to see you" she ran towards him, the embraced and their lips met.
"Sasha, I'm home" Adrian said as he held her.
"I know you are" she replied tenderly. Adrian looked her in the eyes and kissed her again.
"I have something for you" he said and reached inside his pocket. A ring appeared and her face glittered with joy. Adrian knelt down and held her hand. "Sasha, will you marry me?"
"Yes, yes I will!" she replied without hesitation. He slipped the ring on her finger and stood up and they kissed...
All of a sudden he came back to reality, motion returned to normal and he could hear again. Blood dripped from his head, it wasn't serious, but the enemy in the building was. He staggered to his feet and crept along the cooridor and saw around the corner, the Germans climbing the stairs. There were too many of them so he backed away, trying to find a way out. Josef found him.
"Adrian, there is a a hole in the one side of the building which leads to another building, we must jump a gap but it is our only chance" he said in a tired voice.
"Then we shall try, comrade" Adrian replied and they headed towards the opening. Josef took out a grenade and tossed it towards the German and they quickly moved away. Bullets cracked through the floor boards behind them.

He was blown backwards bouncing off the wall,

"I'm fine, we must...we must keep moving" he grunted through the pain. Adrian helped Josef to the breach in the wall. Josef used every ounce of energy he had to hurl himself across the gap and landed hard on the other side. Adrian ran for it and jumped, clearing the gap and making a rough landing. Petri cut him off, "Shut the hell up, private you know if you're too loud we could all die." The Squad's commander said calmly to the over-exicted Private Borisn. "Now continue... calmly."
"Sure, I found a squad of two Germans walking down the street, I didn't shoot them, because they looked like Privates, but I think they're reporting in."
"Conscript Ken Helvich!" Petri said in a low, but loud voice. The conscript quickly met the Sergeant. "You speak German correct? Don't even answer that, I know you do. Take Virmin Yoist and capture some Germans, there should be two right ahead of us."
The conscript gave a quick reply, "Yes, sir!" He then ran to Private Yoist who was happy to do something and went up.
The rest of the squad waited, outside in the cold exposed. They did this so they could draw out a few Germans, just incase. "Private Borisn, nice work. Now continue to scout." The sharp shooter nodded and headed to a nearby building.
Conscript Helvich and Private Yoist returned withen fifteen minutes with the two Germans. Petri spoke expecting Helvich to translate, which he did. "Where are the Russians!"
The Germans spoke some girbirish and Helvich responded in Russian, "South, by a building that was just demolished."
Petri has a synthesized reply, "Good enough, let them go." The rest of the squad smiled at the Germans and slung their weapons off their shoulders. The two Germans smiled and went off, only to be barbequed by the squad's bayonets. "Alright, everyone lets rest in the building where Borisn is in." The marched into the building in a single file line, leaving the German bodies to rot. That night they ate several rats and more mice.

The three story building they lived in had a nice supply of food... rats and mice and surprisingly the water still worked. Half of the house was callopsed, but that just left less to be defended, and better hiding spots. The roof had been blow out, so no one dared go up their for fear of death via sniper. The squad machine gunner, Stephan Morvice, had set up his post at the the third window to the left on the second floor. The rest of the squad was wandering about. Borisn was ordered to go out sniping and scavegning for food. He found this beautiful chirch that had only one spot to look out of at the top, and the stairs were just a 2 meter drop incase of a quick get away. He pulled out the scope he had been given by Petri a week early and looked around. He saw a group of four Germans (Or how many are in Osteia's group) walking around, one injured, and the two others helping him. He saw a target though, the last German was a private that was off to the side. He pulled the trigger on the bullet and a ring came as the man dropped, clasping his upper pelvis. Borisn ejected the spent shell and re-cocked. "Im not killing a man that's helping a friend." He said, and dropped down the stairs.

"And your fears have been noted, but this position is of critical importance, that house must be taken, or at least prevented from being reinforced, I'd imagine that the people in there are in the exact same situation as we are, do you see them running? No, no they are not, so why should we?"
"But sir!"
Another shot rings out, this tme from Obershutze Wilhem -Willi- Hummel.
"Get one Willi?"
"Sure did!" He looked enviously at Hugo's SVT-40 sniper rifle, as Hugo looked at the dead russians, loaded down with suplies, and the few rounds remaining in his captured rifle, then at his former rifle, the one he gave to Willi.
"You a good shot with that now?"
"I think so, I've only missed twice today..."
"That's good, we'll need to conserve ammunition. Is your bayonet sharp?"
"Just finished honeing the blade."
"Good, we'll be assaulting Pavlov's house at nightfall, the panzers must get through"
At this time, the rumble of a Russian BT-70 can be heard traveling the streets, the men get down, except for Heinz Zimmer, whom then loads his Grenade launcher with a model 40 AT rifle grenade.
"Smoke this you dirty reds..."
He shoots it at the rear of the tank, it brews up shortly afterwards, russians can be seen jumping out on fire, their actions quickly put to an end when Oberliutenant Hiedleburg opens fire with his PPSh-41, two of them tried to identify themselves as russians, believing it was a case of friendly fire from Pavlov's Machinegun and PTRD...
It was soon over.
"You are becoming a tank ace with that thing Zimmer, when we get back to Germany, I'll personally promote you to Captian..."
(hand grenade in use: Model 43 -maybe not correct period though, but I see people using G-43 sniper rifles, so it evens out...)
Will took her shot and watched as another german crumpled. Now they ahd to mvoe. No sniper ever stays in one psoition, exspecally on a day like today. They creppt almost silently down the steps, listening to see if that German patrol had gone. it had.
Quickly lining up another shot from the 2nd floor window Ivan fired and mvoed down again. They ahd to move from this area. Obviously the battle was lost here adn there was no point getting killed. They moved from the house they ahd been occupying to the next one without being spotted, keeping low, using every ounce of cover they could.
As they where about to exit the second house a volley of shots exploded in the street otuside. they hit the ground uickly, watching the GErmans rush past in eprsuit of some russians. there was no point in opening fire-they didn't have the weapons to win a firefight with that many Jerries.
Pavlov's house. The symbol of Russian resistance. held for god knows how long against whatever the Jerries could throw at it. Who knew how many German attacks had been resited by the sargent and his platoon? It was here that Ivan and tanya/Will now fled.
It made sense to them, it was safe and supposedly it would never fall, and there was ammunition and food there as well. when theya rrived, via the back, they wehre greated by Pavlov himself, a big bearded man with a rifle over one shoulder and a sub-machine gun over the other. He welcomed them as comrades and bade them inside where they where given food and ammunition. His men where preparing for yet another German attack, every wall seemed to be loopholed, every windown barrackaded.
Tanya and Ivan where positioned upstairs with two other pairs of snipers to cover the road. There breif was simple, fire at anuything that moved. And they did that with relish, every so often a german would try to cross the road, or stick his head out from behind a building and both Ivan and Tanya would have a shot.

Borisn continued to scan around the area, hoping to find some fellow Russian. As he faced his East he saw signs of a fire fight. He saw several Germans try to cross the road leading towards Pavlo's house and opened fire. He saw one of them drop and the rest scattered. He returned his gaze to Pavlo's house, but heard a large humming noise. It was a bomber! A Tu-4 BULL, but where was it going to drop its bombs? Borisn then noticed a small conboy of German Panzers and knew where the bomber was going.
Seeing a house of resistance Borisn quickly took off his scope and headed back to his squad's HQ. Petri greated him. "Hello, Private Borisn. Welcome to Cheatue Without Food." The Sergeant said with a grin.
Borisn replied, stunned, "What! Well, good. I just found a house of Russians. Their making a stand against some Germans, but they're completely surrounded."
"Do they have food, supplies, ammo?"
"I believe so, but how are we going to get passed, I just saw a bomber heading towards a tank convoy, what now?"
"We head out." With that Sergeant Petri organized his troops his a wide 360 degree formation, and headed down the street towards Pavlo's house. "Borisn, move up and take a few down, understood?"
Borisn didn't reply, but instead ran into a house that was three blocks ahead of the group and set up shop. He noticed a squad of Germans getting ready for an attack on Pavlo's house and launched his grenade at them. Killing three instantly and wounding the two others. He then set his gaze on a squad that was attacking Pavlo's house already. They were trying to get into the house, he unloaded his remaining four shells in his gun and managed to kill two before they entered the house.

OOC:
... 5 troops... Must be someone else's unit... Also, my troops aren't being stupid, they'll wait till dark, and they don't need to make any preparations, as all their equipment and ammo they have fits so convienetly in their pockets already... Otherwise, if that was supposed to be me, it would be a godmod (maybe we should identify which player's squad we are attacking).
They heard a grenade go off not too far off, followed by the groans of a pair of germans.
"Those swine hounds..." Whispered Zimmer, as he placed an HE rifle grenade in his gun, he had developed an interesting way of using his gun, he'd carry a clip of ball, but top off the clip with a blank or two for shooting grenades, that way he wouldn't have to reload for follow up shots.
Oberfrieter Kitsch and Oberscutze Hummel quietly climbed out to the first flloor, Willi stayed there and watched for reds as Hugo climbed to the 2nd story with some grenades and the SVT-40.
After setting up, and making sure they had not been seen yet, they signaled for Zimmer to go up to the 2nd floor as well, Hugo then went to the third floor, and now could see the russian line approaching. He stayed far from the window, in the shadws of the room, and watched them.
Maenwhile, Oberlietenant Hiedleburg donned the uniform of a russian conscripthe picked up, which came with the PPSh-41, he then waved out the cellar door with the PPSh-41 while keeping himself hidden from view, as in the other hand he carried a model 24 hand grenade readied for action.
Heidleberg had studied and practiced with the Russians during the secret tank/infantry exercises in poland, as part of the farce of a Non-agression pact both parties had signed les than 5 years ago. As such, he knew enough basic Russian to command troops and express rank, along with an assortment of profanity.
(Germans were also issued German-Russian dictionaries prior to the onset of Operation Barbarrosa, so it is very feasable he knows at least some Russian)
He decided the russians were hesitating:
"Прибудьте товарищ! Мы имеем продовольствие и боеприпасы. Этот дом ясен!"
[Come comrade! We have food and ammunition. This house is clear!]
*he sets down grenade and starts walkin up the steps.

All right, it'll be your unit.
And I'm not doing this to be vindictive or cruel, just in an attempt to balance the RP out again, as it apears to have become very much lopsided in Soviet favor, when it really originally had a slim chance of success and only had been accomplished by German strategic ineptitude and the fall of the Foriegn SS units to the north flandk of the Don.
Any attempted river crossing of the Volga was almost suicide until winter froze it solid, at which point T-34s from Tankograd poured forth.
Of intersting note, rather than build a bridge for the tanks to cross the Don, they simply winched them across the riverbed using their towhooks. No waterproofing was conducted. All it took was a boat, a whench and 5 Combat engineers.
(PROHT uses a similar method for the HT-106, using the HT-101 to facilitate the crossing)

Alright. NPC fragging time...
The Rusians responded well at last, anfd they asked what unit he was of.
He had to think fast, what was the name of the commander in the house, Pavlove or something?
"[Pa- Pav- Pavolv, Sgt Pavlov. Come, lest a german sniper see you!]"
Heidleburg then ducked back into the celar, picked up the gremade and placed it in his jackboot...
Oh, no! I forgot about my jackboots, too late now, I'll just have to hope they don't notice...
It wasn't long after that he could hear the russian footsteps, and them exclaiming at the number of german dead littering the cellar, then asking in surprised tones, where the rest of his comrades went.
To this question, Hieidlebug could keep upt the charrade no longer, he burst out of character in a low, threatening tone, in german:
"Right here..."
He pulls up the PPSh-41 and before anyone could react, mows them down, those still outside where then cut to pieces by the concentrated fire of the others, one russian tried taking shelter in some ruins, but Zimmer already had the spot zeroed, and sent an HE rifle grenade chasing after him, a piece of felt lined boot come showering out of the hole.
Afterwards, Heidleburg went over their loot, a Moisen Nagent with full load of clips, a PPSh-41s, and finally, a Degrotov DP machine gun with two bullet pans.
Outside, lay another two PPSh-41s and a ruined Moisen Nagent (was from guy blown up with grenade, apparently he was a wannabe sniper).
The Moisen was scoffed, using it only to supplement Hugo's scarce ammunition condition, the PPSh-41 was taken by Willi, who then gave all his ammo to Zimmer, and the DP was placed in the cellar to give full time coverage over Palov's house.

Petri ordered his men up to Borisn, the house atleast. There they had a clear view of anyone attempting to cross the street into Pavlo's house. The squad reached him with realitive ease. Withen minutes Helvich has taken a survey of the building and it was only two meters tall. The Sergeant placed Morvici out of one of the windows, and put some of the wall decor on him to make him nearly invisible. The Sergeant did the same to Helvich, Borisn, and Yoist. Anyone attempting to cross the street would be fired.. atleast until the night. "Rivich, go out and snipe for a little while. And say Omni-Free if you want to get back up the stairs." Rivich did as he was told went down stairs. Then the sergeant laid on his back and aimed his PPSH-41 down the stairs.
Rivich was nervous, it was his first time going out alone. Plus, he was hungry and tired. He cautoiusly exited the building, but continued to hug the wall. He darted to the building across the street, attracting fire. But along with that he heard him buddies open amass of bullets upon the assailants and soon the gunfire quited down. "Damnit, they saw me! I can't stay here now!" He then continued to exit the building via the side door and went into the next building, which was four stories high. He then went upstairs and got a good sight on a few Germans inside a building. Well.. it wasn't a good sight but he saw one of the men's heads out, the only part he could see. It was about Five Hundred meters off and Rivich adjusted his sights accordingly. A yelp came from his gun, and the head dropped to the ground. But, he heard a few foot steps a second after he fired. "They must have just gotten into the building and heard me." Rivich said in a said tone. He then looked about and walked to the Eastern part of the building. He looked down, and the next building was about two meters shorten than his current one, and only a meter away. Rivich clinged to his gun tight as he stepped back a few feet. He then preceded to Lunge himself forward into the next building... he didn't... miss. (Haha, did I get you?) He feet stopped on the floor, and he immedialty hid behind the chimnee, and laid on his back, just low enough so the ridges covered him.

Corpral Peipus Ovlav Gerasmovinski motioned for Private Boris Keltsin to move. Keltsin nodded and took off for the wall. He looked over it, made a "follow" motion and hopped over it. Peipus ran and followed Keltsin until he joined him in the open courtyard on the other side of the wall. "Ovlav," as Keltsin frequently called him, "I see it!" He was looking through a pair of beat up binoculars. Out here, Keltsin and Peipus rarely called eachother by there rank and last name, but instead by first name and sometimes nickname. There was no need or place for military authority out here. Peipus Ovlav took the binoculars, glanced in them, and nodded. "Indeed, Boris, that's the house we have been going for!," said Ovlav. The two ran across the field until they reached the front door of the building. It was a train depot building, built high up about 5 stories. The first five stories consisted of only a spiraling staircase, leading up to a small three room cabin on the top floor, used to house a train officer, so he may look out over the neighboring trainyard and direct train traffic. Of course, the trainyard was now almost completely abandoned, except for one small train flipped over on it's side, riddled with bullet holes. This location, so high up, looked over the entire district, and was a sniper's dream. That is why the two men spent the past three days running through enemy territory to get here. Boris checked the entire railway, saw no traces of enemy action, and began to climb up the steep outdoor staircase. He and Ovlav finaly reached the top of the stairs, and opened the door. Before them sat a small room, filled with smashed radio equipment and a single chair. The radio had undoubtably been torn to shreads to prevent it from falling into enemy hands, but from the looks of it, had long been abandoned. They opened the next room, to find four cramped bunkbeds, probably for the men who worked here who's traines were every so occassionaly layed over. Boris noticed one looked slightly slept in. They then opened the next door, to find a room hardly able to be considered a closet. It overlooked the train warehouse, now a concrete foundation who's roof has long since caved in. Against the wall were large levers, marked "Pull to stop!", others "Pull to release track A", or "Switch to signal track C". They went over to the edge of the room, where a large door was leaning off it's hinges. They opened it to find that on the other side of the door stood a 5 story drop. Keltsin asked, "I don't understand. Why would they have a door leading to nowhere?" Ovlav looked at the collapsed roof beneath them. "I suppose it was attached to the warehouse roof, so they may go down to the warehouse without physicaly going down the ladder," he speculated. Boris looked up and saw a large trap door. "Aha!, and this Boris, is what we have truly been waiting for!," exclaimed Ovlav. He pulled the trap door and climbed up. Boris followed him, to find the view excellent. The entire city lay around them, a true snipers nest. He looked up and saw a grim expression on Ovlav's face. Before he could ask why he was so grim, he looked to where Ovlav was pointing. Before them lay a discarded Scoped Kar98 rifle, german issue of course. Several ammo clips lay around it. A few used cigarettes lay next to it. Ovlav said, "the rifle is pointing towards our line. That confirms it's a German. Also, if he left a gun here, just sitting around, he must not be gone for very long. He may soon return, to claim his sniper's nest. "He must not be a true trained sniper though, if he didn't bring his sniper rifle with him to wherever he went." Ovlav nodded in agreement. Now, they could only make themselves at home, and wait...

OOC: What the hell, post 2!
IC: Boris lay near Ovlav, feasting on a can of mushed beef. After they searched the "Outlook", as they have come to call there new home, they found a chest under a bunk bed, filled with the German's goodies; several cans of assorted food, 2 stick grenades, a Luger, a few dirty photos, and a smoke grenade. "Are you sure you don't want some meat, comrade?, it's actually very good," said Boris. "No, I've told you, I'm nervous about this kraut. If he comes back and gets the jump on us, we'll be dead for dure." Boris gave a "suit yourself" kind of look. He happily dug back into his canned meat. Ovlav thought he had just seen movenment beyond that collapsed office building to the south. He grabbed Baoris' binoculars and looked. Sure enough, a lone soldier, shouldering a MP-40, was walking towards them. He whispered to Boris to get down. He scoped the German out and aimed... After several minutes the amn was close to them, almost in the trainyard. "What are you waiting for, hit him!" whispered Boris. "I want to make sure he is our man, otherwise I would have hit him a long time ago..." trailed off Ovlav. Finaly, a loud crack from Ovalv's Scoped Mosin Magnet was let out. Ovlav looked at the German. To his surprise, he had missed! The German was now running for a nearby crater in the ground. Boris immediatly began his job as spotter, as he had done so many times before. He picked up his binoculars, and said firmly, "east of the tree, close in, he's going for the crater, leg him if you can't get him-" Another shot was let out, and the German fell to the ground, a bullet through his heart. Brois sighed. "Now, lets go get him," murmered Boris. The two men stashed the canned meat and went for him.

IC: Rivich slowly raised himself up, and continued to hold to his rifle for dear life. He heard footsteps, probable the Germans that had entered the building he had recently jumped out of. He chucked a grenade in there, and withen the course of a few seconds the Germans ran around looking for some cover. Expectly, they were all dead. But Rivich didn't know that and raised his sights up towards the building. Luckily for him there was one man who had not gone up with the rest of his squad, and had just entered the room. Rivich heard him cry in his rough German language. Rivich, only able to see his arm let out two shots from his SVT Tokarev and the man fell down clasping his arm. Rivich, jumped into the building, and because of the Germans recent trama and pain he could not react. Rivich, thinking of his limited supply of ammo, ran up to the man and bashed him across the face twice. The German was dead.... He then piligied for supplies and neatly assorted them to the Upper Left side of the building, and sat down. Aiming his gun at the stairway.
Sergeant Petri was waiting for Rivich to return, adding upon that he had heard several gun shots from where he has seen Rivich run too. "Shit, sir! There's armour moving on the East side of Pavlo's house. It's got about twelve men with it, all in an APC!" Borisn had just yelled at them.
"Shit-in-stien!" The Sergeant exclaimed. "Open up on those Facist whore, and make in painful!" With that a salvo of lead went flying to the German position. Nailing five of the German immediatly, but it also brought the attention of the tank.
"Sir, it's turning its turret at us!" Morvici yelled over the gunfire.
"Everyone, get to the first floor!" With that the men began to charge down stairs before the German turret was on the house.
[BOOM] With that the house became like a fog. "Where is everyone!" The Sergeant yelled over the coughs. They all reported in, except Helvich. The Sergeant noticed this and continued to call, "Helvich, where the fuck are you, this isn't time for games!"
He didn't answer, finally, one of his troops did. It was Yoist, "Sir, I just found.... an arm." Yoist said with a shocked expression.
"Damnit. He's dead. Ok, everyone, we got to cross into the next building, like Rivich did, understood?" They all answered yes, and got ready to run in a heap.[BOOM] They all where knocked over, but got back up, ready to run to the next building.

The men in the cellar saw a german tank stroll by, firing into Pavlov's house, they could clearly see the sniper on the very top of the roof aiming down upon the armored column, the tank would be helpless against the PTRD...
(This was one thing Pavlov discovered early on, that a german tank could not elevate sufficiently to hit the 5th story of the house, making the ideal place to put a PTRD)
Hugo took careful aim, and fired. The PTRD gunner fell the 5 stories into a bloody heap at the foot of the building (in the real war, the PTRD gunner and loader were killed on a regular patrol by wandering germans, in plain view of the men in Pavlov's house, their heads put on stakes).
The tank continued on, Hugo slid back into the safety of the cellar.

Peipus awoke to the sounds of Boris screaming. "Ovlav, approaching halftrack to the north!" Corpral Peipus Ovlav Gerasmovinski awoke immediatly and grabbed his rifle beside his bed. He half fell over to the radio room, where Boris stood with a pair of binoculars, looking out the window. Peipus took the binoculars and looked. He saw a single halftrack, carrying one driver, four infantrymen within it, and a Kublewagon behind it, containing 4 Germans. He raised his rifle. "Boris, that halftrack has a mounted MG-42 on it. If we fired a single round, they could simply pick up the MG-42 and blow us to beyond." Boris suggested, "hmm, wait 'till they get close, you are saying?" Ovlav thought, "perhaps..." The approaching caravan drove closeer and closer. They were clearly driving straight towards the Outlook. Why? How did the Germans know they were here? Perhaps the shot yesterday? Did they hear it? Then he saw why. The two Russians watched as the German trucks drove right below them, right up to the collapsed warehouse. The Germans got out of the trucks and looked at the wreckage. That was why, thought Peipus. They must not have realized the depot house was destroyed. He and Boris were struck with relief, the Germans didn't come for the sniper and his spotter. The two men ducked so not to be seen. "Now, perhaps they will be on their way..." whispered Boris. But to there horror, they heard a sudden clanking sound, the sound of someone climbing up the metal ladder leading to the Outlook top. Boris cradled his PPsh. He peeked and saw a single German making his way up the 5 story ladder. Peipus snuk a look. Four men were waddling around the wreckage of the depot. Another was leaning against the halftrack. Two men were still sitting in the halftrack. That left two men, one who was climbing up the ladder, and the officer in the Kublewagon, who was now walking towards the ladder. "Alright, you hammer down the men near the wreckage of the depot. I'll hit the ladder men, and throw a grenade on the men in the Halftrack, directly below us." Boris nodded. Peipus reached for a stick grenade, pulled the pin, then dropped the grenade directly below his position, onto the Kublewagon. He quickly grabbed the MP-40 they captured yesturday and waited. Sure enough, the two Russians heard a German yell, than an explosion. Right after the explosion, Boris ran to the window facing the depot and fired into the four men there. Peipus threw open the trap door leading to the stairs, and fired at the man climbing. He was torn to shreads and fell down the ladder. Peipus raised the MP-40 to the officer approaching the ladder. He was too late! At the first sign of gunfire, the German ducked behind the Kublewagon. Peipus then grabbed his Mosin Magnet. "The second you raise your head, fool, I'll-" Boris screamed, "I got 3, the other got away, I can't find him now!" Peipus saw his chance. The German officer, while picking up a nearby MP-44, exposed a small portion of his head above the Kublewagon. Peipus fired, and caught the German's head. The German officer fell to the ground dead. He turned his attention to the halftrack. He saw two dead Germans, but where was the third, left leaning against the Halftrack. "There!," said Boris. But before he could he ducked as a horde of bullets swamped the side of the Outlook, blowing right through the wood walls. Peipus ducked too, and screamed for Boris to stay down. Just then, a swoosh was heard, and Peipus, hearing it so many times before, knew what it was. "PANZERSHRECK! BORIS GET OUT OF HERE!" Peipus grabbed Boris and dove for the staircase. As he ran, he grabbed a smoke grenade, stuck it in his pocket, and pulled the pin to provide cover. A loud explosion was heard as the far side of the Outlook was blown to pieces. Peipus and Boris made their way down the stairs, but with the smoke greande and flying debris from the explosion, no Germans saw them fling themselves step by step down the stairs. They were half way down when, whoosh, another Panzershreck was fired off. This time, it hit with incredible accuracy, dead center of the Outlook. The entire Outlook blew into burning splinters and smacked into Boris and Peipus' backs. The whole stair unit, swung from side to side, then finally collapsed under the pressure of the explosion. Under the cover of the smoke, the two men ran for the half track. As Peipus had suspected, the missing German had reached it and aimed the MG-42 directly at them. Boris raised his rifle and fired several shots. The men watched as large red dots filled the machine gunner's body. He sank slowly into the bed of the halftrack. Another man, presumably Boris fourth man, ran towards them. He scarcely had time to raise his rifle before Ovlav hit him in the chest. The German bled through his shirt, and stared, before finaly slinking over and dying. Boris and Peipus dove behind the halftrack. "If we counted right, we've got them all," said Boris, covered in blood and out of breath. "If we got them all, then who fired the Panzerchreck?" questioned Peipus. Boris' expression changed. Within a second, several German men, on a patrol presumably, when they stumbled upon the battle, surrounded the Russians. "Looks like we are POW's," mumbled Peipus, who hadn't had a chance to raise his rifle before the Germans captured him. Boris sighed, "we are still far away from the German line, however. Perhaps, if other Russians spotted the battle, rescue may indeed come..." said Boris, before a German bludgoned him over the head with his rifle butt, while screaming, No talking you filthy communist pig! While you are my POW's, I'm in charge!
OOC: If any Russian soldiers want to help free my two men, I'll be most abliged. I'd suggest a ambush, but do it however you want.
Enemy force:
1 halftrack, carrying my two captured and tied up men, two german soldiers (carrying a Kar98 each), and 1 driver, carrying a Kar98. The MG-42 is still operationg, and still mounted on the back section of the half track.
1 Kublewagon, carrying four men, 1 with a Kar98 and a Panzershreck anti-tank weapon with several rounds left, the driver having a MP-44, and the other two men having Gewher 33 rifles. An additional 4 men move ahead of the convoy, all of them carrying Gewher 33 rifles, except for one carrying a scoped Kar98.
Additional notes:
One of my men has a knife in his boot, which the Germans haven't yet found. Once the shooting starts, he can take out, if he's lucky, atleast one German guarding him.

I guess... if it had two Russian POWs in the backseat of a halftrack...

The surviving group of Russians. Were Yoist, Borisn, Morvici, and Petri. They all rushed threw the line of fire. Bullets sprang at them, crossing everyone about them. As the last of them, Yoist, reaches the door he is struck in the side by and enemy bullet. His blood every where on the door post and the entrance to the building. "Shit!" Yoist cried in pain as he clasped his gaping woud.
"We have no medical supplies," Petri said with a doomed voice. "He's dead, already."
The private returned in a heroic voice, "Take my gun, ammo, and grenades. I won't be needing them." With that he unhooked his supplies, "Take my coat and hat, but leave me my uniform." His last act was to be of valor, not cowardice. And so he disrobed his clothes and passed it to them.
All of the Russian's fast grimaced as they began to think of revenge. "Thank you, my Comrade!" Borisn said, as Yoist died. The anger pulsed inside of him, he un-pinned all of his dead Comrade's grenades and began pegging them at the enemy. He saw them explode in and all around the Kublewagon, while leaving the heavily armoured vechile intact.
"Troops, get your asses up stairs, then we'll lay down some heavy covering fire!" With that the three survivors rushed upstairs, to the top floor. It was easy for them to get to the top of the three-story building. "Alright, Morvici set up on that heavy on the Left upper part of the roof, Borisn place yourself where ever you can get the best shot, and i'll shoot at the Upper Right corner of the roof." With the orders, all the men got into position. They layed a torrent of fire down on the remaining NPC, as all the other guards had been whiped out in Borisn's mad throw of grenades.
Borisn finally yelled out, after the exchange of fire for several minutes, "Hey, they had two captured Comrades in there! I don't think we hurt them!"
With that Petri yelled at the two possible-survivors to get upstairs.
---
Rivich looked to his left and saw that his Comrades had gotten into the building and began firing upon a German squad. He did not dare waste ammunition and simply waved for them. None responded as the sounds of the roaring guns were too loud for them to hear his wails. He decided it wasn't of his importance so he continued sniping from his building. He had seen a nice team of two Germans walking down the street about four hundred meters away. Thanks to Rivich's extremely good eye sight he spotted in on the two troops and opened up a fire of four rounds, effective knocking the two out of action.
Then, the Germans, in an action of bravery or stupidty decided to send out a group of two troops to rescue the attacked soldiers. These troops began walking up to thier brothers-in-arms, and began to get them up. Seeing this Rivich let a wail of five bullets exit his SVT Tokarev and destroy the total of four troops lieing in the middle of the road. He nailed each of them, killing one. The others would be dead if their comrades did not come soon. Knowing this, Rivich dropped his spent magazine and loaded up a new one, cocked it, and aimed at the wounded enemy soldiers.

Boris and Peipus could only duck as their own comrades threw countless grenades at the halftrack. Finally, the last guard in the halftrack was hit in the leg, and he fell screaming in pain. Peipus saw the opprtunity and pulled out his knife, slit the Germans throat, then looked around. They saw a fellow Russian infantrymen motion for them to come inside the building which was where all the fire was coming from. "Boris, grab a gun, and then run to that house!" Boris grabbed a Kar98 and a Luger, as Peipus grabbed a MP-40 with an extra band of ammunition. The two men scurried into the house. They turned to the Russian that had signaled them to come in. "Thank you greatly, comrade. If you had not rescued us, we would have been torured for sure, if we even survived the trip to the POW camp that is. We have only captured German weapons, and Boris has shrapmil in his back. If you could help us with these problems, we would be very obliged." He made his way to a Russian man who looked in charge. "Corpral Peipus Gerasmovinski, Sniper, reporting for duty, sir. And this is my comrade, sir, Private Boris Ketsin, my Spotter. Are you in need of a sniper team sir?" As he spoke, he took out the one belonging he still had, a small black notebook. Peipus took out a pencil, and put a dash on a page. Boris, who had seen this many times, knew it was Gerasmovinski's kill book. He would mark every kill he made down. Last time he had counted, there were 18 confirmed kills one shot kills, about 10 more multiple shot kills, and countless assists, or "improvisions", as Boris called them. Making bait, helping a fellow sniper, sniping using any "unorthodox" means. Each dash held a memory, a challenge overcame, another time when we won, Boris said to himself. He then followed Peipus, who was now going to find out there new orders...

Petri was astonished by his miltary diginity in these rough times, "Hello, yes. We need a sniper team, but as for the shrapnel in your friend's back, I sadly can not help you with that. As we have left our first aid kit back at our HQ. We are on a trek to Pavlov's house and are almost there." After a moment of silence Sergeant Petri remembered his second question. "Well, we lost two troops, and both of them died withen minutes from this building and in the one over there." He pointed at a building in smolders. "Out of the six men I went in action with, we have two confirmed dead, and another is on a scout/sniper mission. The surviving men are our Machinegunner and Corporal, Stephan Morvici and our sharpshooter/sniper, Novis Borisn." He remembered the PPSh-35 (Seven Magazines)and the Mosin Nagents (Six Clips, 3 rounds in the chamber) from his fallen Comrades and motioned for them to brought over. "You can take these, if need be, but the Mosin Nagent dosn't have a scope." He saw the book that the young man was carring and looked in it. He saw a few tallies, twenty-eight in all, probable his kills, Petri thought. "Aw, damn. I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Sergeant Petri Norivic."

But alas, life goes on, as Boris and I have seen so often," Peipus trailed off, and stuck his kill book into his coat pocket. Boris and Peipus walked off, gathered the weapons, and searched the German dead. They found not much on the German bodies; little food, a single grenade, but what was really valuable, boots and helmets, were plentiful. After they were far away, Boris muttered to Peipus, "They are not all that much more military than us, eh?" Peipus replied, "we are all either draftees, war weary, or both my friend. What do you expect?" Boris nodded. After Boris and Peipus, now outfitted happily in warm German cloaks over their uniforms, German helmets over their peper thin hats, and nice warm boots to replace their old and hole filled ones, they approached the Sergent Norivic. "You lead the way sir! Let's go take ourselves a house!"

"Reds fleeing Pavlov's house! Open Fire!"
Zimmer quickly took the DP-28 in the cellar and fired upon the retreating russians.
The others knew better, and instead, scurried about to take better positions, namely, in preparation for assaulting Pavlov's house, in the meantime, they were concerned for their own well being.
It could be a russian ploy to get them into the open so that their DP-28 could rip them to shreds, or an attempted flanking manuver. In either case, it was best to hold their position, and it wouldn't hurt them any even if it was a real retreat.
They watched as the reletively fresh and green germans assaulted Pavlov's house.

Well aren't we the picky ones? Very well, although I think some of your facts are slightly off, I'll just continue nevertheless. The MP-44... was a MP-40, and the Panzerschreck was ... some random large caliber weapon. What was the standard German army issue anti-tank weapon at the time by the way?

Either a tellermine with time delay fuse thrown behind russian tank turret overhang (some good troopers even threw these, how they did this is not fully understood), or a 7 pack of stick grenades, later in the conflict they used magnetic demolition charges (which in theory, could be thrown).
There were other weapons, such as anti-tank rifles, rifle grenades and the like, but their effetiveness was limited.
Germany really had a serious defficiency in man portable AT weapons.
They also issued a stripper clip of 'K' bullets, which were bullets set in the cartridge backwards and given a magnum powder charge, penetration was rather wimpy, but better than 'standard' AP rifle ammunition.
And, and then there were flamethrowers, but those were comat engineer (Surmpioneeren) weapons.

The kneeling man (5), throwing the anti-tank mine, seems to be straight out of an old Wehrmacht training manual. The question remains then and now: how far do you throw a 9.4 kg (21 lb) anti-tank Tellermine to avoid the blast?

We have an OOC thread...
Apparently, it was in Stalingrad that Germans started to learn how to deal with tanks...
It wasn't until the Kursk offensive that the Germans had their much feared Panzerschreck (litterally, Tank-Terror)
There were the occasonal oddities, like 75 mm recoilless artillrey used by their paratroops, or flamethrowers and shaped charge hand grenades used by other elite troops.
The average grunt usually had to make do.
During the winter of 1941–42, the T-34 again dominated German tanks through its ability to move over deep mud or snow without bogging down. German tanks simply could not move over the same terrain the T-34 could handle. The German infantry, at that time armed mostly with PaK 36 37mm and PaK 38 50mm towed antitank guns, had no effective means of stopping T-34s. Only the poor level of Soviet crew training and the ineptitude of Soviet commanders prevented the T-34 from achieving greater success.
Chapters of Stalingrad champaign (http://www.stalingrad-game.com/en/index.php?type=publ&type_id=chaps)
"The antitank defense is undoubtedly the saddest chapter in the history of the German infantry. The path of suffering of the German infantry in their fight against the Russian T-34s goes from the 37-mm AT-gun, also known as the "batter", through 50mm to a 75mm mechanical-propelled AT-gun. Apparently, the answer to the question why over the three and a half years starting from the first appearance of T-34 there had not been made a proper infantry AT-weapon, will remain a mystery."

Alright, this appears to be dead. So here's what happens to my men:
Peipus was walking down a road with Boris when suddenly a volley of bullets came from around the corner. The two men ducked behind a apartment way alley. One of the Germans who fired the volley ran around to the alley and threw a grenade in the alley, hoping to drive out the Russians. As Peipus and Boris ran out, the German mowed them down with his MP-40. Peipus hit the ground dead, but Boris managed to pull out his PPsh and kill the German, along with two of the Germans approaching buddies. His leg was hit bad by the grenade, so he limped away until he found a Russian patrol. His comrades took him and deposited him at a Aid Station. Because of his bad wounds, he was discharged, and after Nazi Germany was defeated, he got married to his sweetheart and lived out a peaceful life, always remembering Peipus however.
THE END!
