Long before the nation of Gunkoku there existed a many seperate states and clans, each with its own agenda and its own qurells.

This in turn led to the arrival of the West Europeans into the region, and with them christiandom.

The people of the plains took to the religion and soon found themselves under the command of the Germanic people of the north. These Germanians attempted to control the people and make them serfs on their estates.
The Nomads however would have none of it.
In the year 1158, a warrior from the Gunkin tribe would unit the people under an iron fist, and lead them in a war against the invaders,

This is that story

"How long my brothers, must we suffer under the yoak of the Germanians? How long will we let them live off our land, the land of our ancestors? I say no more!!! Let us gather together every man and every horse, every bow, every sword, and let us drive the dogs back over the northern mountains!!"
"You are foolish Yuushu" cried a man from the crowd, "The Germs give us food, land, and are our link to God"
"Who's God is that? Not mine. I worship my ancestors, for my family has not fallin to the trickery of the invaders. What are these gifts you speak of? I see no gifts. Every day they take our land, build their cities, and kill our way of life I say-

A large tribe of Latican people called, the Latin, marched all from their homeland in modern Ethopia to the Eastern part of modern Germany. Here they settled themselves into their first large city in Europe, Latina. Here they made foundries and mined the creat mountains. They were gearing up for war letting hundreds of refugees come in from war-battered nations. This time is know as the 1st Latin Kingdom.

The North Kessen Germanians gathered lords and knights from across the region, the threat of Yuushu's tribal armies has rought chaos upon the colony.
"My fellow christians these barbarians cannot be allowed to threaten our security, or the security of our european travellers."
"How shall we combat them?"
"They only have light cavalry and archers, they are horsemen so we need not bother with too many archers. I do feel however we should use tight pike formations to counter a cavalry charge."
"Yes I agree, tommorow we shall march upon the camp at Kasugai. Gentelmen prepare for a swift war."

Yuushu:
Men I have word from an informant in the Germanic settlement, that forces are marching upon Kasugai as we speak.

Soldier:
SIr what shall we do, we do not have the force necessary to stop them.

Yuushu:
Actually they have assembled pikemen and a small cavalry group I believe with simple tactics we could easly route and destroy them.

Captain:
Onward to Kasugai!!!

Latica had grown to a population of twenty thousand in nearly four months. Even though they had great numbers, their area of influence was only two hunded kilometers diameter. They wanted to spread their influence and their kingdom. Seeing that a large war was growing between the Germans and the barbarian nations they decided to play a role. They amassed two hundred, Steel Claymore wielding, Latican Knights, all of which had horses and rode to Kasugai, their mission unknown, so far.
