It was a normal solar system, lacking life in any of its forms. What made it special was the fact that it lay in the path of several trade routs. Trade routs mean merchant ships, and merchant ships mean a golden opportunity for hostile forces to plunder defenseless vessels.

The large Asfaltic freighter slowly barged its way through space. It was heading towards an unmanned fuel-station, located on one of the solarsystems larger gas-giants, or to be more precise, on one of its moons. Before arriving at its destination the freighter had to, like many of its predecessors, pass by the outer asteroid-belt that surrounded the solar system. As it did so, something very strange happened. A large group of rocks seperated from the asteroid-belt and proceeded to head its way, with alarming speed and ease. The smaller rocks flew in formation, swiftly maneuvering around 6 large asteroids. They soon caught up with the trade-ship and placed themselves in formation around it, one in each direction, with the smaller rocks cirkeling nearby. A short message was sent to the freighter: Surrender your ship, or be destroyed.
Not that it made a difference, previous crews had all been exterminated. These were the nameless pirate-race of the galaxy; slimy, squid-like creatures with extremely sharp "teeth" or "claws" that could rip through most flesh, and crush light body-armor. On the whole, though, they were quite vulnerable in open combat, which is why they never fought in the open unless forced to. Their technology is based on electricity, as is their weaponry and practically everything they have built. Their favorite habitat is rocky places where they can easily blend in and assault unsuspecting prey, which reflects itself in their ship-building tactic which essentially consists of hollowing out asteroids and equipping them with interior armor plus a variation of electronic/magnetic/gravity space-drive, giving the asteroids much needed maneuverability. Their most used tactic is outnumbering their prey though, since their ships aren't precisely the best built in the galaxy.

The freighter slowly moved forward in space, closely followed by the hostile "asteroids". Suddenly a noise was heard, a metallic shiver shook the freighter as the whole outer hull started to depart from the ship, thin plates of metall peacefully floating away from the ship, and revealing the well-armored hull of an Asfaltic ship-of-the-line. The main hull slowly started to rotate, as is the rule for most Asfaltum military ships, giving the ships' all-round gundecks a 360 degrees fire angle. An even shorter message was sent back to "the squid", as they were called by Asfaltic soldiers:
Surrender or fight.

15 long seconds passed, as the shocked pirate commanders gazed upon their unexpected "catch". Then, a small asteroid (the squids' version of fighter-craft), piloted by an over-enthusiastic pilot, fired a highly electrified shell at the Asfaltic warship. The squid commander released a sudden shriek; "that was what they were waiting for, you idiot!"
The Asfaltic ship-of-the-line, whose hull was rotating fast by now, unleashed it's weaponry. Hundreds of laser,gamma and plasma beams and projectiles were sent at the enemy. The response came quickly, consisting of electricity bursts, electric shockwave cannons and highly electrified shells. The Asfaltic ship's shields withstood most of the serious pounding, although projectiles sometimes pierced it, slamming into the armored hull below. The same could not be said of the pirate forces; their shields could barely stop 60% of the incoming bombardement, the rest of it causing impact craters as it slammed into the rocky surface of the ships, exposing and sometimes penetrating the hull below.

At the same time, the Asfaltic ship-of-the-line sent out a warning to all nearby vessels:
Warning to all vessels!
Pirates have been detected in this area, please avoid this area.
We recomend all military and non-military ships to be on the allert.

At the utter edge of one of the largest wars in it's history, the Ascendancy Republic StarFleet was out in full force with it's partols through known and core galactic space, keeping tabs on anything unexpected in the last few hours before the Great Counterattack commenced.

The local area of space therefore saw a duo of Capital grade Hikari Treeships on armed patrol, as two horizontal slivers of Fold drive jumps took place about a .24 AUs away, along the second planetary orbit ring.

"Commence scans, you have five minutes." Commander Tyuna barked. She had her two Derin`nir class Heavy crusier Treeships to keep safe, despite the active need for on spot intellegence, aside from the billions of Comm-Orbs deployed across the Alpha Universe.

A set of eyes can either make or break all electronic measures.

One set broke out in mere seconds after scans began. "Reading combat particle gravitons at the second planetoid belt region."

Tyuna sighed. "Stand by on the next Fold." ..she then started to consider her options. It wasn't the best time for a rescue mission, but then when is ever one?

"Scan the remainder of the system for other situational targets. Line em up in the IFF. Keep ears on the comms."

"This will do ma'am." A Comm-Tech informed, the text recieved and translated quickly enough.

"Noted." ...the commander responded.

As the skirmish continued, both sides were taking damage. The Asfaltic ship was well-built, but none-the-less it was outnumbered.

The bridge vibrated under the bombardement. "Damage report!" ordered captain Murphy. "Damage is approaching 10%, sir." replied a crew-member.
"Is our barrage having any effect?"
"Apparently, sir. They seem to be taking serious damage, sir, but they're not retreating."
Murphy intently watched the screen. They were completely surrounded by pirate-ships, they could'nt go anywhere. "Fire all our guided missiles at the engine section of the pirate-ship on our right." he ordered. "Then, full power to engines, and try to squeeze through between the right and the front ship."
He silently watched as his orders were implemented. His tactic worked.
The right pirate-ship started to slow down, widening the gap between itself and the lead-ship, thus enabling the Asfaltic ship-of-the-line to squeeze through. But, suddenly the right pirate-ship increased it's speed, sparks and flames flying from the damaged engine section.
The bridge shook as the ships made contact. Then, everything went black for a short moment, but not for long.

The lights immediately turned on again, sparks flying from the controls.
"Report!"
"We've been hit by an electric shockwave, sir. They must have released it when we made contact, that's the only way we could have been hit with such force. Our overload venting system has been temporarily overloaded (this is insane), but systems should be back to normal in a moment."
"Also, there seems to bee a small hull-breach in Sector 9, sir."
The captain watched as the his ship started to leave the enemy ships behind.
"Seal off Sector 9, give them 30 seconds to evacuate the area."
"Yes, sir."

In Sector 9:
Pete Renolds had gone for the rutine check of Munition bay 9, but hadn't returned. "Something must be up." thought his mate. "I'll just pop in and see what he's doing."
He swiftly walked down the corridor, turned, and entered Munition bay 9.
An unidentifiable mass of flesh lay on the floor, blood splattered over the whole place. He instantly threw himself towards the door, but was caught by tentacles and pulled back in, where he suffered the same fate as his friend. The luck in the unluck, was, that another crew-member had seen the pirate creatures reach outside the door and pull the poor man inside. He immediatly sounded the alarm.

I don't really know where this will go, but it's going in the direction of "Alien" mixed with "Starwars"...

Also, I'm RPing the "Pirates" at the moment, but if anyone wants to take over for me, you're more than welcome. (Would be a lot more fun...)
They're essentially quite smart, in a primitive sort of way, and mostly rely on their superior numbers when it comes to combat, (for which reason I'm considering to let them call for back-up...)

Under Operation: Eagle Eyes, Skgorria had sent out several scouts to explore deeper space. Some groups consisted of lone ships, some of full-fledged battle squadrons. One such squadron was Storm-Captain Hans Beckenbauer's "New Berlin" squadron.

Storm-Captain Beckenbauer paced the bridge of the ISD-II Star Destroyer Hammerfall whilst waiting for the reversion to realspace. This part of the jump always made him nervous, as you could never be sure what was on the other side. It was bad enough in the Skgorria system, but out here in the unknown - who knew what he could find?

At least I have one of the most powerful ships in the Skgorrian Space Forces Beckenbauer considered, Much better to be in one of these than in one of those Muurians like the 'Aryan Pride'. He glanced down at his chronometer and saw that there was not long until the reversion, so he called down to the crewpit.

"Navigation, time to Realspace?" Looking up from his console, a crewman gave the customary quick salute and replied,
"5 minutes sir, will begin audible countdown at R -10 seconds".
"Thankyou Navigation" Beckenbauer returned the salute as was only right and proper, then moved to his personal comm station.

"Attention all hands" he broadcasted across the ship "We have 5 minute until Reversion. General Quarters" With the call of General Quarters, off-duty personnel reported to their duty stations, fire-fighters and damage control teams were assembled, fighter pilots reported to their ready rooms and the Kriegsmarine took up positions with their regular Navy counterparts. Such preparations would enable the crew to react rapidly to any danger or hostile circumstances.

Reports soon flooded into the bridge from various decks and sectors indicating they were at General Quarters, and when the last report tallied in an officer strode up to Storm-Captain Beckenbauer and saluted.
"All decks ready sir"
Returning the salute, Beckenbauer nodded and dismissed the man with a wave of his hand. The Navigation Officer then began his countdown
"10, 9, 8 ,7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0...we have Reversion." A starfield burst into life where previously there had been nothing.

"Sensors, what have you got?" Beckenbauer was keen to learn about where he and his squadron were.
"I make out 4 other vessels, Assault Frigates. IFF confirms they are ours." The Sensor Officer stated.
"So our squadron all made it." Beckenbauer was intensly relieved.
"Aye sir," the Sensor Officer confirmed, "they haven't deployed any fighters yet...extending scan range...looks like a regular solar system, planets and all. We're too far away to make out any significant details as we're just on the fringe."

"Sir!" called out the Communications Officer. "We're picking up a signal, I ran it through the translator and it read as follows: ':: ~ Warnings beside all carriers! Badships have been seen to in this place that you shouldn't be.
You suggest an alert? In the army, maybe not! . ~ ::'"
"And what the damn hell is that supposed to mean?" Beckenbauer snarled. "Why do we even bother having this 'translator'? We may as well just snort at anyone we meet for all the good it does!"
The Communications Officer looked rather sheepish, "well sir, we can make out some part of the message. We know there are some hostiles in the area, and maybe even military vessels are supposed to be on the alert." Beckenbauer simply stared at the Officer. "It's better than nothing sir," the Officer apologised.
"You're right Ensign, my apologies," sighed Beckenbauer. "Contact the Frigates and see if their translators have made any better efforts. Send out fighter pickets, I don't want to be caught with our pants down like a Bolshevik whore." The Fighter Co-Ordinator began issuing commands and punching in order on his console, and soon a squadron of TIE Defenders billowed into space and began patrolling around the squadron. Two Assault Frigates had formed up above and bellow Beckenbauer's command ship in the standard formation.
"Sir, the other transcripts are in from the Frigates." The Communication Officer did not look confident, quite the opposite.
"Well spit it out man!" ordered Beckenbauer.
"As ordered sir, the first one reads as follows: :: ~ Make preparations!
Thievery happens in this not you place, so here.
Make wary for the military and non-military~ :: Do you want to hear the others?"
"No, curse it." Beckenbauer was truly infuriated, "Keep scanners running at maximum and stand down from General Quarters. Ahead full sublight, let's explore this system."

So the squadron moved into the system...

((OC- I'll stick to my own vessel's, and play this off the pirate reactions mainly.My vessels are based off the Jurai Treeship concept, but infused with far more advanced celestial-angelic technologies, essentially surpassing the border of ascendant technologies.

Just think of the Angelhawk Wings as subspace filaments derived from angelic dimensional energies. =^^= ))

"More to the party ma'am. Another contact(s) jumping into the system, and we do read rective data. New data on the original contacts are of one standard warship, capital grade, and several... well... squid like bio-vessel signatures."

The Sensor-Tech Commander echoed to the subordinate's data. "It seems the warship is being swarmed by the squid... things."

Commander Tyuna surmised this with the burst signal recieved. "I gather the squid things are the pirates then. Far be it for us to leave such chaos when we can meddle with it."

Her XO behind her, Lieutenant Commander Shraza Kentaro, warned her... "We're not supposed to actively aid, with the timetable as inference. Advise if I may caution if we are to... 'meddle'."

Tyuna nodded back to her long time friend. "We need to assess possible ally and enemy strengths, are we not already?

At the very least, a few passing volleys to relieve pressure from the attacked vessel."

Shraza retorted. "What of if the 'enemy' are pirates under an unorthadox situation of their own? Freedom fighters or other such?"

Tyuna groaned. "Stop making sense, and none all the same." ..she turns to the Comms. "Open freqs and see what happens. Send this..."

...Tyuna then ordered the shield array activated, and the Wings on standby. Weapons were still cold.

The intrusion alarm soon reached the bridge, and captain Murphy ordered the Troopers to encircle sector 9 and prevent any further spread. Sentinel droids were placed in ventilation drums etc, in case the aliens would try to use them. Captain Murphy noted that the alien pirates had stopped firing and were now tailing him at a safe distance. "So this is what they were after..." he thought. "Smuggling their soldiers aboard the ship and taking it from the inside... very well, they will be surprised about how wellprepared we are for "visitors".
"Sir, we are detecting foreign vessels nearby."
The captain studied the screen. "Did you send that call for back-up?" he asked. "Yes sir. Backup is on the way." came the reply. "Good. Then we don't have anything to worry about."

"Sir, we are recieving a transmission. It doesn't seem to be meant for anybody in particular... just a message for all ears...

Captain Murphy sent the following response to all the foreign ships:

Greetings!
This is the HMS Warrior, an Asfaltum fleet ship-of-the-line. As you may have noticed, we have been engaging six pirate-ships that attempted to attack our vessel, which was camouflaged as a merchant ship. This specific race of pirates is a threat to all trade routs in this area, whatever nationality. We have long suffered from their attacks and have now decided to respond with force, since diplomacy doesn't seem to have any effect. They have unfortunately landed a boarding party on our ship, which we have succeeded in containing. We have inflicted serious damage on their battle-ships, however we do not know if there are more of them around here, since they tend to come in great numbers. Our re-enforcements are on their way, and when they arrive we will absolutely positively blow these suckers to bits. If you decide to aid us against this threat, you will be generously rewarded by the Asfaltic Kingdom.

The 'New Berlin' Squadron was moving closer into the system when communications were recieved.
"Storm-Captain!" the shout of the Communications Officer jolted Beckenbauer out of his daydream. "Incoming communications!"
Oh great, another chance for the translator to ruin everything...
"What does it say Ensign?"
"Transcript following now sir..."
A fighter called HMS, an Asfaltum sail-straight fleet. Perhaps you see 6 non-merchants but pirates attack. This race, a menace to nations all. No talking working, shooting being tried. Hostiles come to ship not invited. They are many but damage is of some to those here. Explosions of enemy will be great when friends come. Asfaltic state pays much for assistance.
Beckenbauer remained silent for a while in disbelief before speaking,
"WHAT THE DAMN HELL DOES THAT MEAN?" he exploded. "Put it to me in straight Skgorrian!"
"At a guess sir, looks like there are pirates attacking a ship called the HMS which is from a state called Asfaltum. They mention a reward for helping them sir" suggested the Communications Officer.
"We are not mercenaries Ensign, we are proud servants of Skgorria," Beckenbauer reminded the junior officer.
"Sir," mentioned Beckenbauer's 2iC, "it doesn't help to make friends."
"I suppose so," sighed Beckenbauer. "Go to Battle Stations on all ships, ready fighters and raise shields."
"Sir!" saluted the 2ic as he began shouting orders into the crew pit to bring the squadron to battle status.
"Time to contact?" Beckenbauer enquired
"10 minutes until they are within turbolaser range" responded the Weapons Officer as the Skgorrian squadron neared the pirates...

The Braveheart appeared out of hyperspace , weapons blazing . Streaks of green turbolaser bolts slammed against the Pirate ships as MauraderI anti-ship missiles , Truncheon Torpedoes , Proton Torpedoes , Photon Torpedoes and Concussion Missiles were fired by the hundreds ...

Mationbuds, I know your intentions are good, but would you mind modifying your post to fit in with the previous posts, it could be an advantage... and try to be a bit more realistic, like "it takes time to go to battle stations" and "you can't just enter a thread and blow everything up without "foreplay""

The message that came back made the blood in both Gaian vessel's command structure boil like little else can.

"By the wretches they be, such dishonor."

"Passing the inner system orbit gravity line, we can close on the comabt zone in five minutes at high sublight if we choose."

Commander Shraza responded to the Tact-Tech data by offering. "Surely we can aid when such poor manners are used by these pirates."

Commander Tyuna however held up a hand. "Let's not overdo this. Remember the timetable, as I was so informed." ..she put with a dry sidelong glance at Shraza, whom chuckles with a light teardrop.

This all however is cut short by a Comm-Tech suddenly announcing from a transmission through Hikari-Net. "Our forces have started attacking the Dark Eternals formally."

Tyuna gritted her teeth. "Then it's begun. We could be targetted anyway at any time, so chuck the worries out the window fellas.

We're on war footing, deploy full Wings and attack so we can clear this area fast. YOU HEARD ME!!"

The crew shifts to a highly trained crew of combat hewn killers, as the two Treeships deploy their full Angelhawk Wings, the extension of gleaming white angelic dimensional energies, the ships activate all weapons arrays and full tactical assets are activated.

Tyuna meanwhile announced over comms over open air. ":: ~ This is same said Ascendancy Patrol, we're coming to your aid before returning to our space for active war duty. We'll come in weapons hot from your Zenith Mark 437.11 axis, on a hard pass. Be ready for it. ~ ::"

At that point, Tyuna stabs a look at the Angel God commander. "Prepare counter assault teams. We'll deploy two angelic infantry exta-space Stars as well to aid from the outside of the vessel.

You got two minutes."

Angel God Ifurt Rathac nods once and stampers off to gather the faithful.

Just then, the Treeship shudders into combat speed and begins approach at high sublight velocity. Arcing at a high system plane angle, they begin their intial attack vector from a tenth of an AU away.

In the dark command bridge of the leading pirate ship, vocal sounds were uttered that can be roughly translated into the following:

"Our men?"
"They have been shut in, sir. They will offer resistance, but they have slim chances of taking over the ship."
"Our ships have been heavily damaged... prepare a full scale boarding."
"Yes, sir. They will not get away."
"Yes, they will... for now. A full scale boarding of their ship would be slightly inneffective since their ship is mostly automatic, and killing the crew won't do us any good, because it will take a long time until we manage to hack into their system, and by then we'll be dead. Those other ships that just appeared, offer a promising possibility on the other hand... set course for the five Skgorrian vessels, their weaponry is effective but I don't think they know how to react to a full-scale boarding, they will be taken by surprise and we will easily exterminate them."
"Aye, sir"
"Those other two vessels might interfeer... I'll keep them busy...
LET'S DRINK SOME BLOOD!"

Meanwhile:
Captain Murphy studied the screen. The six pirate ships had just set off in the direction of the Skgorrian vessels. He smiled. "I never liked those Nazi Skgorrians anyway. Bloody delinquents." he said. "Those two actually deserve each other, I'm not interfeering with anything their going to do to each other..." His smile momentarily faded, as he saw one of the pirate ships altering course, and heading in the direction of the two incoming Gaian vessels. Then "Their going to do it to them too!!"
"Their going to board the Gaian ships!" he exclaimed, suddenly jumping into life. "Their heading on a collision course!"
"Weapons officer!" he exclaimed. "Target 5 of our most heavy slip-stream anti-matter missiles at that pirate ship. Take your time, get the targeting telemetry properly worked out, but do it bloody now! I want that ship to be thrown off their course, I don't want those ships even to brush against each other. Capisce?!"
"Aye sir!" replied the weapons officer, who was actually quite young, but nonetheless used to be screamed at, and who loved difficult problems to solve. 10 seconds later he fired the missiles. He had added a little of his own targetting telemetry, just to give the pirate ship an extra spin.

The Weapons Officer noticed the change in course of the pirate vessels.
"Captain! 6 vessels changing course to attack us, coming in hard."
"Fire at will then," ordered Beckenbauer, "transmit that order to the other frigates."
With that, the ISD Hammerfall opened up with a full salvo that targeted 2 of the pirate ships. The Assault Frigates concentrated their fire on 2 of the pirate ships, in the hope of causing a lot of damage.

"One contact enemy IFF in our direction. Five others towards a seperate IFF contact group."

Tyuna held a steady gaze as the Sensor-Techs added.. "Weapon projectile closing in on the approaching enemy vessel.... thing."

Tyuna yelled. "Suicide combat course. Show our version of insanity.

..release go on the Exos and send them to the other two combat points."

A less than steely Avian Navigatior-Tech holds a dead straight course. Both Treeships don't look like they're going to budge, even with a score of missles aimed at the enemy approaching.

However at this moment, a good number of hyper bright subspace portals open all around the two Treeships, about five meters away from the surface, as Angelic Exoskele-mecha extract from dimensionalized docking bays in the same manner as the Tree dimensional habitation apparatuses, allowing seven groups of twenty units to emerge and shoot off.

Seven Angelic Convictor, five Angelic Devastator, and eight Angel God exo-mecha sear off towards in two even groups of ten, towards both battle areas. By passing the approaching squidy vessel completely, trailing in bright streams of light as they advance.

..and still both Treeships close in at an alarming rate all the same!!

My missiles will hit the squid in the rear, and make it uncontrollably spin off it's course.
