About LifeWyze

Established in 1938 after enormous investment by an anonymous German organization, LifeWyze rose to prominence in Cruxium and Germany swiftly. The founder, Sir James Irvine, an English national living in Cruxium, sought to make LifeWyze the most advanced biotechnological and genetic research institute in the world. In a way, he succeeded.

In 1988 LifeWyze branched out into biological weaponry, which was then expanded to include chemical weaponry in 1996. Despite efforts on the part of the UN to prevent the manufacture and sale of this weaponry, and later, by Kanami, LifeWyze saw enormous sales of what was otherwise relatively cheap produce.

Using funds acquired through chemical and biological agents, LifeWyze spent the remainder of 20th century developing counter-measures for chemical and biological attacks to become the foremost supplier in that market at the turn of the century. Perhaps with the establishment of clinics, healthcare was a natural progression.

In 2001 LifeWyze established its’ healthcare division, which went from strength to strength and has proven to be the crowning glory of this conglomerate. Operating hospitals, clinics, surgeries and pharmacies in over a dozen countries, LifeWyze rose to become the most prominent Biotechnology company in the world, despite its’ waning biotechnological division.

Constant expansion saw LifeWyze return to its’ original ideals and begin once again carrying out genetic research and alteration on animals in 2002. Its’ efforts were realized in 2005 when it produced a full crop of cattle, and by 2008 had caused the bankruptcy of thousands of farms worldwide as its’ subsidiary BioFarm Projects became the sole supplier for McRonalds, Burger Lord and Kentucky Fried Meat, as well as supplying meat and dairy products to thousands of schools in Maraque and Cruxium, several major supermarket chains and third-world countries.

LifeWyze was made a public limited company in 2004 and floated on the Cruxian Stock Exchange, with the primary shareholder being Sir James Irvine the 3rd. LW. are the current initials for LifeWyze on both markets.

Slammed for its’ lack of fair trade practices & continued biological and chemical warfare interests, LifeWyze was opposed by several countries led by the national leader of Kanami. After being brought to an international tribunal, a Cruxium official was able to destroy all doubts regarding LifeWyze’s ethical practices by proving succinctly that it had none, and would certainly not answer to countries without influence.

2005 saw the launch of BioWyze probiotic drinks and HealthWyze beverages, in answer to a gap in the health drinks market.

PsyWar, LifeWyze’s Psychological Warfare division opened in 2007, however proved widely unpopular and was scrapped at the beginning of 2009 with the reorganization.

In 2008 LifeWyze outbid Raven Corps and purchased Lincoln BioTech, a company which had developed excellent human cloning facilities. With this tool LifeWyze reached new heights of medical science.

Further, in late 2008 LifeWyze suspended operations until January 1st 2009, when it revealed its’ new image and its’ reorganization to the world.

BioFarm Projects

Farming Evolved.

PorGan Donor Pigs: $25,000,000 ($25m) per breeding pair

BioFarm Projects contain and breed PorGan Donors. PorGan Donors are pigs that have been successfully altered to incorporate more organs, all of which are now more compatible with human beings, allowing for greater access to organs of a suitable nature for medical transplants. PorGan Donors are born with three hearts and four livers, while capable of surviving on one of each after harvesting, and are still capable of reproduction at a rate of five PorGanlet Donors per sow per annum. Transplants with these PorGans, in combination with ImmunIzer, has resulted in a 98% success rate in organ transplantation at LifeWyze MediCare Facilities. There are currently three LifeWyze PorGan Donor BioFarms, each containing in excess of one hundred PorGan Donors. Upon death, all PorGan Donors are cremated, to ensure that no PorGan Donor meat is placed into foodstuffs.

PorGan Donors have a gestation period of 118 days, slightly longer than average pigs, and lay litters of between 4 and 8, smaller than average pigs.

B. Tworus: $1.99 USD per kg of live meat

Engineered on behalf of Cute Bunny Burger Corp. the B. Tworus, nicknamed the Cash Cow by its' inventor, Dr. Harold Gayns, is a modified cow which has undergone vast amounts of genetic modification to ensure that it provides more nutritious meat in vast quantities, whilst also allowing for mass reproduction.

The B. Tworus has a higher natural production rate of anabolic steroids and cortico steroids, allowing for cows up to 20% larger than previously available and providing an improved immune system allowing for effective factory farming. Furthermore, the B. Tworus is capable of producing larger amounts of vitamin C, increasing levocarnitine within the meat. Whilst ordinary ground beef provides 94mg of L-carnitine per 3.5oz, B. Tworus ground beef contains 107mg of L-carnitine per 3.5oz.

B. Tworus Variant: B. Tworus MKII

The original modification of the B. Taurus species was the modified helliot sub-genus. Helliot cows are the foremost sub-genus of cow where beef harvesting is concerned. However, due to the alteration, and considering the already minimal supplies, milking of these cows was deemed inefficient and potentially harmful. Now LifeWyze Corp. unveils to the B. Tworus MKII.

Modified from the jersey sub-genus, the B.T-MKII is engineered to produce larger quantities of healthier milk. Through an alteration in certain glands, milk produced by the B.T-MKII provides three times more calcium than standard milk, as well as increased levels of vitamin D. Furthermore, the metabolism has been heightened to increase milk production by 1.4 times.

LifeWyze Corp. shall not be selling any units of the B. Tworus MKII, however milk shall be available at $1 per 2 litres.

NuCrops: NuCorn, NuWheat & NuRice

Developed several years ago, the various NuCrops represent the pinnacle of GM foodstuffs. NuCrops were kept out of general circulation while they underwent field testing.

All NuCrops have been treated to have an excelled growth cycle, allowing for faster, more frequent production. They are also far more durable, capable of re-using the same fields for years before land needs to lie fallow. Furthermore, NuCrops produce more seeds in germination than their original counter-parts, and require no pesticides as they release a mild phermone.

NuCorn: $20 per tonne
NuWheat: $11 per tonne
NuRice: $17 per tonne

Note: NuCrops are not suitable for vegetarians or those with gluten allergies.

Biological Agents

Anthrax: $100,000 per 100 grams

A virulent disease that primarily affects livestock. High levels of exposure will cause infection in human subjects, however the disease is non-contagious amongst humans. It is possible to infect humans through infected livestock. Anthrax will be provided in a form ready for aerosol delivery. Less than one millionth of a gram is required to cause terminal infection in a human with death occurring within one week.

T-2: $200,000 per litre

Inhalation of T-2 causes circulatory shock and reduced cardiovascular abilities. Once infected, death may occur within 12 hours. Currently, infection of T-2 can be treated successfully within the first hour of infection.

Osteo-4: $750,000 per 100 grams

Osteo-4 comprises of modified osteoclast cells named osteoclast-W cells, as well as glucocorticoids to increase the osteoclast-W activity. The modified osteoclast cells release a disproportionate amount of hydrogen ions, are constantly active and are immune to parathyroid hormones and calcitonin, preventing many methods of controlling them. These cells cause the breakdown of bone structure and begin a form of osteoporosis. Due to the greatly increased volume of hydrogen ions from the overactive osteoclast-W cells, natural osteoblasts are unable to counteract the resorption of bone minerals and the bones of the body begin to be broken down and absorbed by the body. In addition to the resportion of bone, the release of Interleukin-6 throughout the body causes the body temperature to rise. It is possible to treat Osteo-4 by constant insertion of osteoblasts into the subject’s body and waiting for the osteoclasts to die out, however the exact length of time this would take is dependant upon the number of osteoclast-W cells within the infected person. Osteo-4 was fatal in every subject with the cause of death predominantly due to the increase of body temperature. Those who were not killed by the increase of body temperature took approximately 20 days to expire from the effects of the osteoporosis.

Chemical Agents

Ricin: $2,500,000 per 100 grams

Ricin (Rye-sin) is a glycoprotein toxin that is most effective in ingestion, however can be delivered through inhalation. Less than one thousandth of a gram is required to kill an adult human through ingestion and it is considered to be more virulent than cobra venom. Death will occur up to 72 hours after infection. Ricin is delivered in a solid state. Ricin is perfect for discreet single works. There is currently no anti-toxin for Ricin.

Saxitoxin: $8,000,000 per litre

When ingested, infection is rapid, occurring within ten minutes, depending on dose and subject. Saxitoxin is most effective in contamination of water supplies, allowing for high infection rates and guaranteed ingestion. Initial infection causes numbness, followed by paralysis. Death is caused by respiratory paralysis and can occur as swiftly as two hours after ingestion. There is currently no anti-toxin for Saxitoxin.

Sarin: $8,000,000 per litre

Initial symptoms following exposure to sarin are a runny nose, tightness in the chest and contraction of the pupils. Soon after, the victim has difficulty breathing and experiences nausea and drooling. As the victim continues to lose control of bodily functions, he vomits, defecates and urinates. This phase is followed by twitching and jerking. Ultimately, the victim becomes comatose and suffocates in a series of convulsive spasms. Sarin is a highly volatile liquid. Inhalation and absorption through the skin pose a great threat. Even vapour concentrations immediately penetrate the skin. People who absorb a non-lethal dose but do not receive immediate appropriate medical treatment may suffer permanent neurological damage. Even at very low concentrations, sarin can be fatal. Death may follow in one minute after direct ingestion. At room temperature, sarin is a colourless, odourless liquid with a storage life of only several months. Sarin is delivered in liquid form.

Cyanogen Chloride: $12,500,000 per litre

Also known as CK, Cyanogen Chloride is a highly toxic blood agent. It is very fast-acting, and causes immediate injury upon contact with the eyes or respiratory organs. Symptoms of exposure are loss of consciousness, convulsions, paralysis, and death. It is especially toxic because it is capable of penetrating the filters in gas masks, according to U.S. analysts. CK takes noticeable effect within fifteen seconds with death occurring within ten minutes, making it the fastest acting and most dangerous toxin available through LifeWyze. CK is delivered in liquid form at low temperature. Once used, CK will become a heavy gas.

Botulin Toxin: $15,000,000 per 100 grams

This toxin is well known throughout the world for being part of the composition of Botox. Currently it is the single-most deadly toxin in existence, with 100 grams being enough to kill every human on Earth. The toxin itself is fast acting, attaching itself to nerve fibers. Once attached the toxin is carried into neurons and cytoplasm, preventing the release of neurotransmitting chemicals, causing paralysis and eventually, death. Despite the fact it is effects the nervous system, common treatments for nerve agents only increase the leathality by enhancing the botulin toxins.

Previously, botulin toxins have been considered unsuitable for chemical warfareas it degrades rapidly upon contact with air. This can be considered a positive or negative effect, as any area contaminated will be perfectly safe to enter between 24 and 48 hours after initial release. Furthermore, it is possible to saturate items with botulin toxin, which will result in far greater life span (several decades) of the chemical agent.

Human Cloning

Active: $400,000,000 (400m)
Inactive: $30,000,000 (30m)

Developed by Lincoln BioTech, the human cloning technology is now a piece of the LifeWyze conglomerate. For the low price of twenty million universal standard dollars, it is possible to purchase a clone, which then provides perfect blood and bone marrow matches, and guarantees organ transplant success.

There are two methods of storage offered, those being inanimate and animate. Inanimate storage keeps the clone kept constantly asleep, however it results in the atrophy of muscles. This is hardly a pressing issue, however, as limb transplants are far from perfected.

The second method, animate, keeps the clones constantly active and with a healthy diet.

RE: Buffalo Genetics

The arrangements as outlined in your last communique have been discussed and accepted. Your research team, however large you choose to have it, will be accomodated within our facilities in Maraque, as will five buffalo specimen. The remainder of the buffalo will be placed within one of our secure BioFarms.

According to our analysts, costs for this research are estimated at $20bn considering our already extensive knowledge as concerns the bovinae sub-genus, of which the buffalo is a member. Further analysis has resulted with an estimated time of 18 months for data-completion.

As regards the research and ownership, we suggest co-ownership of all research rights as regards the proposed "B. duobalis", with an agreement that neither party will permit sale, trade, grant or any form dissemination of this research, with the exception being that LifeWyze retain the rights to sell, trade, grant or otherwise disseminate all information common to the Bovinae subgenus.

Furthermore, we wish to establish a BioFarms Projects facility within your nation once mapping of the B. bubalis is completed and genetic enhancement carried out. The purpose of the BioFarm Projects facility will be to breed herds of the proposed "B. duoblis" in controlled environments so as not to distress the delicate local ecological balance.

Finally, it is proposed that LifeWyze Corporation retain sole production rights of the proposed modified B. bubalis for so long a time as LifeWyze Corporation is capable of supplying the proposed "B. Project 'White Buffalo'

Samuel scowled through the drizzle as the OSS Livery Wagon pulled into the harbour. Pulling the heavy macintosh about him, he motioned to the harbour master, who in turn sent various people scurrying across the docks. Within minutes the OSS Livery Wagon had docked safely and members of the research crew began to disembark.

As Doctor Runs-In-Meadow walked forward, Samuel approached and extended a chapped, sodden hand.

"Good evening, sorry about the weather! My name is Samuel Coburn, your personal assistant for the duration of your stay." He greeted the foreigner politely and nodded at the Doctor's introduction before leading him toward the first of an array of limousines.

Upon entering, the personal assistant looked the Doctor over and engaged him in small talk, whilst showing him a brochure of the hotel in which the visiting researchers would be residing during their stay. It would be the better part of an hour before the limousines would reach the heart of the Maraque Super-City, and Samuel carried out his directive by keeping the Doctor engaged in conversation throughout.

"So, Doctor Runs-In-Meadows, in summary you are expected to arrive at our research center in Tower 3 of the Maraque Towers by Eleven A.M. tomorrow with the rest of your team and any research you've brought. Further information will be given tomorrow by the receptionist. During the remainder of your stay, if you have any requirements, simply phone me." Samuel withdrew a mobile from his macintosh pocket and presented it to the Doctor.

"Any time of the day or night, you have but to ring. Now then, we have about fifteen minutes before we arrive at your hotel, would you like to ask any questions?"

OOC: Essentially the idea is that we will purchase some form of subscription thing so we pay you $whatever per year per worker and then the workers can receive medical care in your hospitals.

(Scene: Balcony of the hotel, Dr. Runs-In-Meadow with rolled up sleeves and a stiff drink in hand, looks tiredly across the foreign city that has been his home for these LONG NS Months.)

Dr. Runs: (Thinking to himself) I miss home but this project is so important.
Gopher-Mann has been my right arm through the ordeal, don't know how I could have made it with out him.

Our Host have been very efficient but their pride makes them hard to work with as a foreigner. One day I hope we can be true Colleagues, and they would recognize are hard working peoples.

Oh Well, tommorrow we will see if our labors have born fruit.

(Dr. Runs guzzles down his drink and heads for bedroom for some badly needed rest)

The final sheets of the report exited the printer with a low hum as Doctor Bodmoore approached. Exhaustedly he gathered the paperwork and tucked it into the sleeve before placing his executive summary at the forefront.

Doctor Edgar Brohm had been head of Biotechnological & Genetic Research & Development for the past two years at LifeWyze, and was thoroughly expecting a promotion before much longer. Unfortunately it would be slow in coming if his department kept being given the chores of the BioFarm Projects group. Disgruntedly he looked over the last of the paperwork and began to write his own report, whilst absently dictating a few words to his PA regarding an all clear.

Several chimes rang out from his computer, and Doctor Bodmoore looked over to check the time. 4:07. Sleepy, aggrivated, and in a singularly unpleasant frame of mind, he moved to the PC and wiggled his mouse. Logging in quickly, he opened up the intra-mail that had awoken him so rudely and groaned.

The research was a success, and he was to begin work on the B. duoblis. Immediately. Logging back out he looked at his bed and sighed, before pulling on a pair of old trousers.
