[OOC: First up, a big apology to anyone I was RP'ing with in my last spate of posting. Browser issues with Jolt and my general laziness saw NS lose its priority and practicality, but now I'm back again and I'm looking to pick up where I left off. If you were RP'ing with me and want to continue, then just TG me with the link."

Afternoon sun was bordering on unbearable as James Algrad, brother by blood to the current Emperor, was escorted from the guarded entrance of the hospital to his vehicle. It was a black government-issue limousine, with its two-pane coated windows and Kevlar-leather interior. An armed driver stood readily to open the door for him, a black peaked cap to keep the sun out of his eyes. A bodyguard, also armed, let himself into the back seat on the left. James shielded his eyes as he approached the car, looking almost vampiric and wraith-like in the harsh light. He entered the vehicle, and smiled with a small satisfaction as the outside world was distanced from him.
"The Guild please, Henry, but there's no hurry," he said as he checked his watch, "Were you waiting long?"
"No Sir." came the solemn reply, as the driver pulled out and passed the guards at the gate.

James Wilson Algrad, Dr. James Wilson Algrad felt good to be on 'The Outside'. Since his recent release from imprisonment he had been heading the Guild of Knowledge; a euphemistic facility built entirely for extracting unwilling information through any means necessary. He had also been spending time with the Emperor since the attempt on the leader's life, and he was one of few who had unconditional access to the Emperor's private quarters.

The car passed thinning numbers of civilians as it made its way to the outskirts of town, the traffic becoming merely a feature rather than an obstacle. They passed rows of detached houses and cul-de-sacs as shops gave way to the residential areas of the capital and a young man on a moped behind them turned from the road.

Henry accelerated from a set of traffic lights, only to brake sharply as a large white van pulled out in front of them. As silent as ever, he kept profanities to himself as he waited for an opportunity to overtake. He spun round in his chair when a crunch sound came from behind, and saw an identical white van boxing the limousine in. Though the situation was clear, it became absolutely transparent once men armed and in balaclavas disgorged from both vans.

Bursts of automatic fire punctured the afternoon heat as the tyres were targeted, the car sinking down as air left through the bullet holes. One man circled to the front of the car and slapped down a square object on the windscreen. The gunmen took cover and the driver screamed, gun drawn in futile effort, as the package exploded and destroyed the driver's compartment. Broken glass was cannoned further into the car, hitting only the bodyguard as he shielded Dr. Algrad. Like a wounded animal the injured giant of a man turned on the gunmen, surging forward through the singed and bloodied car. His rage was extinguished as two of the hostiles opened fire... twelve rounds perforating his vest at such close range.

Dr. Algrad was silently instructed to leave the vehicle, and he complied by exiting through his previously locked door. Once out he was swiftly frisked before being blindfolded and bundled into the back of van in front. It had all happened so fast that several onlookers stared on with disbelief, though most had had the sense to make a break for it.

At 6:00pm that evening a video was delivered to the Cathedral, the main government building of Agrandov. Ministers, Priests, the Emperor and plenty of security were watching it minutes later, a rising fear in each of them.

Dr. Algrad was on screen, sitting on a steel chair with the cold, shining barrels of rifles pointing at him from off-screen gunmen.

"This afternoon, on my way to The Guild, we were ambushed by several members of this organisation. I am sorry to disclose that Henry Zucco and Peter Haynes were both killed in the attack... my personal sympathies to their families and friends.
"The People's Judgement," he said, visibly rolling his eyes even in face of blatant danger, "demand that in exchange for my release you my Emperor must step down as head of state. The Ministry of Civil Control must be closed down, and the Guild of Knowledge must be demolished." He continued, "Then, there must be a fair and democratic system put in place with multiple opposition parties. I have been told that these demands are not negotiable and you have one week to decide, followed by 12 months to comply in their entirety. I'm sorry this had to happen, friends."
