Elections in Avisron [Open RP]
(CSHR News Report -- Triesa City, Avisron )-- With the Presidential and Senatorial elections just 2 months away things have started to heat up on the political battlegroup of Avisron.
Recent scandles involving military spending and supposed crackdowns on religious foundataions have plagued the Avisronite Core Liberal Party.
The Avisronite Capitalist Party, which hasn't been a serious threat to take an election since the July Revolution of 1994, has suddenly become a major player and looks to take several seats in Senate and possibly even pose a threat to replace the President.
President Alex Webb, who is running for his third and final term in office, has admitted that things haven't been looking up for the ACLP recently. "We just keep getting caught up in politically motivated sting operations. We've got to be smarter than this at a local level."
An official for the Avisronite Capitalist Party was more direct in a recent interview, though. "The Socialists already control the economy. We cannot raise the funds we need to compete at the local level. We need international donations or we will have missed our best chance in recent memory to rid ourselves of these fascists."
That simple message is enough to confirm that the elections are indeed warming up, and there's still months to go.

We thank you for your generous donation. This is a chance for the world to support real change through bloodless voting! Your nation is obviously one which is intelligent enough to make wise investments. Again, thank you.

[OOC: I know I should have made it more clear, but the current administration [Alex Webb] IS socialist. They just call themselves the Avisronite Core Liberal Party.]
[OOC2: Sometime in the near future I'm going to have some more news reports that willl progress the RP a bit. There will be a few issues that the international community will have to deal with.]
Polls Show Avisronite Core Liberal Party Still Holds Small Lead
(CSHR News Report -- Triesa City, Avisron) -- Despite several recent donations scoring in the millions from several nations, the Avisronite Core Liberal Party is still holding a small lead over the Avisronite Capitalist Party; polls show this week.
"Of course we're happy that we're still leading despite the international support for a capitalist government," a spokesperson for the ACLP told CSHR earlier today. "We're still bringing in much more money at the local level. I don't even think that the capitalists have the funds to compete at a local level."
Those words were vastly true, although the Avisronite Capitalist Party has denied comment recently. The ACP, which needs a net gain of 13 seats in the Senate to take power, is so far behind in the polls in 9 of those 13 districts. The battle isn't lost, though, as polls show that they are within 5 percent of all 9 of the districts.
One political advisor employed by CSHR summed up the ACP's problems in a single sentance. "They don't have the funds to put people on the ground."
"They're competing in a dead-heat within the city limits, but in the more suburban and rural zones they're simply not getting their word out."

Wow. You've just more than doubled our funds. This will without a doubt put the capitalists in a mostly undefendable position. We thank you, and will remember your contributions to our cause.

The Nomadic Peoples of New Ishtaria have become aware of this election through the international media coverage, and our citizenry is appalled at the amount of foreign capital being used to influence these elections.
As a people we are alarmed and wish to ask Avisron to consider new legislation concerning Campaign Financing. In an effort to help end corruption throughout our world.
No amount of money should subvert the democratic process.
As a token of good will we present the members of Avisron government with bracelets fashioned from elephant's tail hairs.

We understand how the prospect of massive international funding of internal politics of another nation can be troubling. However, there are several things to take into consideration. The funds being provided by foreign nations are simply being used to help political parties get their message out and to better inform voters. Voters are, and will remain, free to vote how they wish regardless of who has the most money.

As Election Day Passes, Avisronite Core Liberal Party Maintains Majority
[CSHR, Triesa] -- The ACLP has held on.
Despite a late-election rally from the capitalist party, the ACLP maintained a majority in Senate. Change is still on the horizon, however, as in a shocking move, nearly half of the Avisronite Capitalist Party's senate membership jumped ship to the ACLP!
It is rumored that they were able to strike a deal with the socialists to possibly open up to private ownership more industry within Avisron. Avisrons economy, which is booming, may be in for some changes.
For another year it has been obvious that the people of Avisron simply do not wish for their nation to become fully capitalist, a platform with the capitalist party pushed for. Democratic Socialism, though, with government control of vital industry and everything else under private control, has become a popular idea and is beginning to be implemented.
The times are, once again, changing.
