OOC: A non-freeform fantasy "RP" interest thread.

Fourteen Pretender Gods take control over the same number of different nations, many with different species altogether, from the undead to the forces of nature, take part in a struggle for supremacy, which they are to achieve through diplomacy and warfare in a predetermined world. Only one can be the victor - or the ones who had made the most cunning use of alliances, covert or overt. Or maybe the alliance was only temporary, and the war rages on until only one nation survives?

There are no retcons, no OOC bitching wars about what shoulda-coulda be possible - only successful or unsuccessful wars, devious or righteous, which usually consumes the other side. Alliances formed are not noted by anything, so they remain secret as long as this is desired by those allied. Diplomacy is often paramount, especially since you can't choose your neighbors.

The catch? I'm talking about a turn based fantasy game called "Dominions", and in particular, this is to be a PBEM (Play By E-Mail) game, which I will be hosting. And this idea only focuses on Dominions 1, because its demo has actually enough functionality to be worth something, as opposed to those of Dominions 2 and 3, which have been crippled completely.

You can get the demo from: Here! (http://www.illwinter.com/dom/downloads.html)

The game has Linux and Mac versions, too. The game isn't pretty, but it's deep.

The nations/races are as follows:

Abysia
Arcoscephale
Atlantis
Caelum
C'tis
Ermor
Jotunheim
Man
Marignon
Pangaea
Pythium
R'lyeh
Ulm
Vanheim

Depending on interest (and considering that people might want to actually try the game out and such ;p), I'd like to start thinkin' about starting the game in two to three weeks. If there just isn't enough interest for a full game, first ones to go will be Ermor (the undead), and if there's not enough for thirteen, even, then R'lyeh will be left out, if not twelve, then Atlantis as well (the two are the underwater nations).

If you're wondering what the actual RPing part is about, it depends wholly on what you are willing to tell about your things. I myself would, most likely, report about things happening ingame that aren't too revealing in an IC thread which will be made for the game, so that people not actually playing will have an idea on what's going on. The personalities of your "characters" (like the Prophet and the Pretender God), are up to you - the game only gives you the nation of your choosing.

NOTE: Dominions is first and foremost about fantasy warfare, with all of its items and magic relaying different aspects of that. Thus, in the single player mode it has practically zero roleplay element, and since the AI is... Limited, there's no diplomacy there. The single player mode is more like just practice for the real gaming experience in which you play with actual people.

As a sort of bump, here's a link (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=504666) to the (pretty much the same) thread I made in NS.

A: this is the NationStates forums. Your game isn't about NationStates, so it doesn't belong on our forums.

B: Even when it does, limit yourself to one or the other of our RP forums, not both.

C: Thread closed.
