Well its getting near halloween and I figured why dont we simulate a zombie a world wide zombie outbreak (no futuristic stuff though it takes place during 2006-07). If you cant come up with any ideas for what could happen you should see if you can find a copy of the new book World War Z (by the author of the zombie survival guide) for some ideas. Or you can read the article about it on wikipedia. It gives you a brief summary of what happens.

Nah, I doubt this'll work. People want more realistic wars, not wars against zombies.

Ok theres a few ways you could do this.

A la Resi evil style with a bio weapon and an evil corporation;

George Romero style complete with appropriate social commentary;

World War Z style;

Regardless of how the dead rise you'll have groups of survivors most likely in fortified towns and cities and them needing to forage for supplies in places where the zombies rule.

I used to be a zombie master in All Flesh Must Be Eaten so there's always several twists on the basic idea.

in fact the most enjoyable adventure I did was based in the wild west and also one based in Victorian London.

Maybe a nation is messing around with some dangourous chemical and accientdently creates Zombies and transports them to another nation?
Entire nation turned into zombies? (Zombienation :D)

hey, this sounds like it could be a whole lotta fun, count me in.

Modern day attempts at a zombie rising usually turn into a big gun battle when what you really want is character driven RP.

Why not do a Wild West type scenario? Then you'll be limiting the guns to revolvers and Winchester rifles unless you're lucky enough to find a gattling gun :D

its also a chance to try something different as well. Past tech is something that few people end up doing. Also if your character was to talk about the dead rising they're more likely to be locked in an asylum than to be believed.

This is kinda ironic. Im doing a FT RP where I am a race of grotesque zombie-like undead aliens. O its a small world

Well we could have something like, a government tries to make a cover up,
or it could be people who have rabies (fast zombies), and my nation could supply AK-108s (that are to be used in semi-automatic fire mode) to anyone in need of a weapon for protection. I actually drew a picture of a zeppelin fitted with weapons (acid sprayers for example) and other stuff with people sniping zombies and stuff and throwing molotov cocktails out the hatches in the bottom. I think a bit of a WWZ/Romero type thing would be fun, and maybe we could have two kind of zombies a rabies one, and another virus caused one (slow-dumb zombies). Yeah but WWZ is definately a good example of what we could do.

A massive chemical accient happens to a ruthless corporation an anyone contaminated becomes a zombie. the chemical is spread by touch.
Something like acid rain could turn people into zombies, no-one would be safe...

Why limit the types of zombies to 2 types, there could be multiple reasons why this happened, but that would be less likely, we could also do one of those 50s D rated horror movies involving radiation. But a disease sounds interesting. And instead of passed on by touch, it's airborne and the only humans left had natural immunities, or a vaccine made after the plague began.

Another question is, where is this thing located, in america, or Europe (ooh! that would be fun) or Asia, could it be on Japan, or in the Amazon? Where is this taking place, probly in more places than one. And are the people scattered about, with the majority of people zombies with only a few areas like small towns that are free of zombies, or is there an island or something in which a fair number of people are staying, like a mountain fortress, and can be semi-self sufficient? These all must be taken into account.

Nextly, what kind of technology do we have, AKs or revolvers, automatic rifles and M16s or whinchester shotguns? Shotguns....... the ultimate zombie killer....... But also are we being attacked by these zombies and we have to keep watch day and night, or is it that they mainly stay where they were infected? Perhaps a little of both.

Next, what are the conditions, are we simply hiding and slowly dieing off, or are we scrounging and hiding in fortified towns and buildings among the cities, scavenging supplies? or are we in a fairly safe environment where the only real danger is outside and the zombies can't really get in? Probly a little of both, and there could be several areas that humans are staying in and scientists are trying to find a cure for the disease or whatever caused this. And as a twist the scientists are overwhelmed before finishing and others have to finish it... These all must be considered, but I like the general idea. I hope this RP goes along great.

This is a bit more futuristic. humans have located a barren planet inhospital to any life. As they pass by however, they notice a single sign of civilization: a pyramid (or obelisk or any other building). The explorers land and check inside, only to pull a major Indiana Jones nono and unlock an entire race of ancient undead monstrosities littered in a weblike labyrinth of catacombs that entagnle the entire underworld of the said planet. From there, the race can go from planet to planet, devouring entire races and reassembling the carcasses to make more of this race. Kinda adds a new angle to zombies.

That's very much like an alien race i made, except more plant-like, but interesting, so on a galactic level of zombie infestation...... sounds interesting.

hehe cool. I am currently RPing as such a race but it seems that the RP i a in has been hijacked by people arguing over Transwarp Physics. I wouldnt mind being this race if AK decides on this.

personally I like the idea but I believe that we should keep this RP earthbound, without zombies-from-space-that-dismember-creatures-and -reconstrunct-them-into-more-zombies. Ya, it's a cool idea but from an RP standard, they're too strong to deal with, much like the race i created. Cool idea but wouldn't work.

I have an idea, maybe the zombies should be a military experiment for superhuman powers and chemicals that give organisms unlimited energy (thus can go without food drink or air, ect) that went wrong and ended up reanimating the dead and the soldiers who died in experimentation. It could be a corpration trying to get my iland government's contract.;) And anyone bitten gets chemicals on them thus zombifying him. Good?

I've had my fill of zombies when I started (went so far as to RP a few 'minor' outbrake on one of my islands after inviting some people over).

Still, this has gained interest.

It sounds like the novel,The Space Vampires.

A large fleet of space ships go towards Earth and launch thousands of nuclear missiles to "clean" the planet.

.... and in doing so they forget that the zombies are resistant to radiation and in fact multiply and grow stronger so when the humans land on EARTH they find billions of zombies that are stronger, faster, better, and smarter than the original zombies and the humans get slaughtered, EARTH is taken over by zombies and humans leave to MARS, where they die when life support failed. The End.

It's a novel idea but the fact of nuclear winter kind of rids us of that possibility. So....... might work, probly wont.

A lot of this sounds like Land of the Dead. People holed up in walled settlements, and they raid towns that the zombies have for 'supplies'(Food, Medical stuff... Alcohol...)
This would be good for a medium-size RP.

Dawn of the Dead- Ye olde trapped in a shopping mall. Good for character/really small rp

Of course, for those of you who like strategy, seems as you have an idea for multiple zombie types, what you could do is: Have a map. Duh. Make nations out of it, some of which are zombie pwnt. Maybe not even nations. Just like use Britain and divide it up or something.
Or something similer...

Resident evil was kinda crappy... No offence to the fans. It had its moments, but really wasnt great.

Anyway... I'm interested. I like the idea of a character roleplay, but depending on the level of zombie(duh-herr through to super-space-zombie-of-DOOOOOM!!) I think the Zombie Players should get more thingo's

I'm back and thanks for the bump Scavetlund, I'll create a new region where you can join or create a new nation (pm me with the name you're using) with a similar name, the region will be called "the Zombie infested regions" we can discuss there with some ideas!
